‘Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Tops UK Sales Charts

Just how well is Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens doing since its release? Well, pretty darn good. It’s even topping the charts in the UK. Gamespot is reporting that for it’s debut week, which ended July 2nd, Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens shot to the top of the United Kingdom’s sale charts. It came in over big titles such as Overwatch, Doom, and FIFA 16. Stats also show that it is the fourth largest Lego video game launch ever. It comes in behind Lego Indiana Jones, Lego Marvel Superheroes and Lego Batman. So these are some pretty awesome stats for the game already. It’s been out about a week and seems to be performing well globally. I am a fan of the Lego series of games and of course being a Star Wars fan, I also like the Lego Star Wars series. As soon as I knew they were making a…

You Can Play J.J. Abrams in ‘Lego Star Wars Awakens’

Here’s one more fun fact about LEGO Star Wars Awakens: You can play J.J. Abrams in the game. Seriously. This is a thing. We’ll just let that sink in for a minute. So the series is known for making silly games but here is one we didn’t see coming. Are there people (kids even) out there playing this game who just really, really wanted to play as their favorite movie director? My guess is it was really just a way to recognize Abrams for his hard work and great job on the latest film. Honestly, it’s a fun little way to honor the director in a fun little game based on the very popular movie. Actually, they put Abrams and Kathleen Kennedy in the game as LEGO figures so it definitely seems like a nod to the people who helped make The Force Awakens happen. And honestly, even if the kiddies don’t get it,…

The Hidden Truth of the Fate of Darth Malgus [Video]

The ultimate fate of Malgus uncovered as we explore that ultimately the Sith may still be alive and hiding somewhere within the vast galaxy. Is Malgus still around or has he been killed permanently? Have you ever wanted to know what actually happened to Darth Malgus? This video by The Stupendous Wave is going to help you answer these questions. We don’t actually know for sure what happened to Malgus and he’s not technically canon, but as the video will explain, his story isn’t over yet. There are a lot of theories about what happened to Malgus and where he might be now and these are covered in the video as well. Is he out there alive somewhere and just gathering dust? Did he really die or could he be hidden someplace or waiting for a big comeback? We may never know for sure. In fact, some say the entire point was…

Footloose (Star Wars Galaxies video)

Taken from one of the biggest hits of the 80s, this video recreates the last dance scene, using images taken from Star Wars Galaxies (MMORPG). It’s actually really well done and spot on with the scene from the movie. I’m not sure how many people were involved in making this video happen but they did a fantastic job. I can’t imagine the choreography and planning but it’s so much fun to watch. If you played SWG and you didn’t see this before, it’s a fun little blast from the past. Even if you did see it before, it’s fun to watch again. I love seeing how people would use an open game like SWG to create mini movies and scenes like this. It was also really common to see people recreate scenes from popular movies. So here we have two things you might never have thought would come together: 80s…

What Are Your PvP Peeves?

Pet peeves – we all have them in one shape or form. I have this thing about people who smack their gums while eating and people who don’t use turn signals when they’re driving. But our pet peeves don’t just end in the “real world”“. We have them in game, too. What about those players who constantly talk about themselves in the 3rd person, or who try to hit on every female character unsolicited? So what about PvP peeves? Are there certain things about SWTOR PvP that just really irk you? Are there some common annoyances that always seem to ruffle your feathers? PvP in its very nature is set to create situations where people might feel annoyed and SWTOR is no exception. We came across this post that discusses this very topic and thought we’d encourage you to check it out because it’s interesting. Chances are, you can probably…

Sith That Didn’t Use Red Lightsabers [Video]

Contrary to popular belief, not all Sith used red lightsabers. In this video from The Stupendous Wave we learn more about the Sith who didn’t use red lightsabers. If you’re looking to learn a bit more about Star Wars lore, more about Sith and the lightsabers they used, then this video is for you. While the iconic red Sith saber is synonymous with the Dark Side for most Star Wars fans, it can be difficult to think of them using any other colors. Then there are those who think it would be alright to have a bit more color in the Force, on either side. Whatever your stance on saber colors, it’s a fun little video that will probably teach you a few things. It’s just under 6 minutes long so it’s great for watching during a break and it won’t take up a lot of your time. If you like it,…

TOR TV: Star Wars Galaxies Trailer

Who remembers the excitement of Star Wars Galaxies for the first time? For many of us, this was an exciting time. We were going to get to experience Star Wars for ourselves, become immersed in the story, create our own characters… we were getting to BE Star Wars! It was awesome. If you never played SWG, you’ve probably at least heard us talk about it here. You probably have heard people in SWTOR talk about it. There’s a reason this game was so popular and still has a cult following even to this day. It’s no surprise, really, that fans would decide to pick it back up and revamp the project. If you never had the chance to see the trailer that sucked everyone in, or if you’re just looking for a piece of nostalgia today, check out the video below and experience it once again. We love SWTOR, of…

Star Wars: Battlefront Offline Single Player Mode Due Out Sooner than Expected?

Fresh on the heels of the release of Star Wars: Battlefront’s Bespin DLC come even more exciting news, news regarding the imminent and apparently sooner than expected release of a single-player, offline game mode called “Instant Action”“. Indeed, Star Wars: Battlefront fans have been clamoring for such a feature to be added from the very beginning, its lack quite possibly one of the biggest problems that have beset the title thus far. The rumors come from Reddit, more precisely from a poster named “uninspired zebra” who has apparently done a bit of snooping around among the hidden files of the game and happened upon an Instant Action menu. The said menu belongs to the single-player mode, which is addressed to players who are lone-wolf types or who like to enjoy the content the game has to offer with a friend. By the looks of things, two game modes will be…

What Truly Makes a Game Last?

This is a magical question that video game developers have been trying to figure out for some time. Just how do you create that magic formula that creates a great game that players stick with for years and years, that is also profitable and expandable and can make the company money? How do you stay relevant in an industry that is rapidly changing constantly? Bored Brit Gamer brings us this great post that focuses on the players and what really makes a game last. It’s long but well-written and it’s worth the read. He says it’s all about the fans: Yet despite the negative points, I don’t think anyone can really complain about the story content that BioWare has been releasing. Perhaps you could say that each chapter could have been longer and there will of course be those who lament the loss of the individual class stories but when…

SWTOR Game Update 4.6a Patch Notes

With a new game update comes new bugs, so BioWare will rolling out a patch next week to fix some of the issues brought on by Patch 4.6. 4.6a Patch – Tuesday, July 5th 2016 | 07.01.2016, 09:24 PM Hey everyone, As Eric mentioned on the stream yesterday, we are putting together a patch to go live next week that will address a few issues that we’ve seen since the release of 4.6. We are currently planning a maintenance on Tuesday, July 5th from 7AM PDT (1500 BST) – 9AM PDT (1700 BST), and here are the tentative notes for the patch: Players can no longer become unable to progress in Chapter 15 due to making certain conversation choices. The Bogstalker Handler’s License can now be used by players who have a Ginx Companion. Increased the maximum available number of Character Slots per server. Free-To-Play, Preferred, and Subscriber Players have had their…

There’s no Star Wars themed slot machine – but we’ve got the next best thing!

Star Wars would make an awesome theme for a slot machine! It has everything – missions, characters, a Light and a Dark side, lasers, fights, as well as greedy gangsters and idealistic statesmen. Unfortunately, Lucasfilm only approved a land-based slot machine based on the franchise, and Disney has removed that one, too – probably with the goal of making the SW universe more kid-friendly (although the number of blasted stormtroopers and severed limbs makes it a less than ideal story for a kid, I think). With no such thing as a SW slot machine, fans with a taste for such games have no choice but choose alternatives. Today I’ll show you the one I love the most – also inspired by an epic cinematic universe. Battlestar Galactica Battlestar Galactica combines the journey theme from Star Trek with the epic visuals and dogfights from Star Wars. The original even looked like…

SWG “Winter”: A Review

Have you been wondering what people are thinking of the SWG server “Winter”? This isn’t meant to be a space to bash on other servers or things you don’t like but definitely a place to talk for a bit about Winter and see an opinion from someone who used to play in the SOE days. So far, the consensus seems to be very positive about this server. That said, let’s take a look at what one player thinks of the server. This review from  Kimaria, who is not a dev or biased person, but just a player getting to test things, is very helpful if you’ve been wondering if you should try it for yourself: I’ve been testing there for over a month now and am floored by the amount of work that has been done. Server stability is excellent. Bugs are being addressed on a daily basis and staff…

James Earl Jones is Darth Vader in Rogue One

Not only was it recently announced that Darth Vader will be back in Rogue One, we also got some fun info about the voice actor. James Earl Jones is going to be back. While it’s 19 years after the events of Revenge of the Sith, Vader won’t be the same type of threat that we saw in A New Hope. This live action return will be small, but still welcomed by fans of the iconic villain. This comes after there were various appearances in the animated series Star Wars Rebels.  According to executive producer Kathleen Kennedy, as said to Entertainment Weekly: “He will be in the movie sparingly. But at a key, strategic moment, he’s going to loom large.” According to director Gareth Edwards, the Vader that will appear in the upcoming standalone film will be more of a mythical threat than an all-powerful leader. “Within the Rebellion, it’s not commonly spoken about,” Edwards says about Vader’s…

SWTOR Was 4th Highest Worldwide in Pay-to-Play Games

SWTOR ranked in the top five of the highest worldwide pay-to-play MMOs for the month of May. This is not surprising if you’ve been following the revenue and the stats but it might be surprising for people who don’t realize that SWTOR is still doing quite well. While it’s true that the popularity of the new Star Wars films may have increased the number of people looking to play the game, SWTOR still fared pretty well before. The new Star Wars craze is likely only going to increase that even more. I don’t think anyone is really surprised to see World of Warcraft still holding the top spot there. Blizzard has a real winner there and following it up with Overwatch that took the top spot in overall digital game earnings with $269 million across PC and console platforms but SWTOR is clearly holding its own in the industry.  The…

Star Wars: Battfront Bespin Out for Season Pass Holders

The second one of the promised Star Wars: Battlefront DLCs has landed a few days ago for Season Pass holders (if you invested the $50 into a Season Pass, you can already play it), for PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One, and indeed, some problems with the new content have already surfaced, to the frustration of those who have invested the most into the game. Taking players on a trip through Cloud City, another iconic location of the Star Wars Universe, Bespin delivers two new heroes, in the smuggler Lando Calrissian and the bounty hunter Dengar. It also tweaks some of the existing heroes in various ways, and it has also rolled out a server-side bug-fix already, to address the above mentioned issues. According to community banter on the official Batllefront forums, the bugs have indeed been quite numerous and annoying. They range from issues such as Tie-fighters crashing into…

SWTOR Cartel Pack Changes with the new GEMINI Pack

Eric Musco just  posted some clarification regarding the cartel pack changes with the newest GEMINI pack: Cartel Pack Changes with the GEMINI Pack | 06.29.2016, 01:47 PM Hey folks, Yesterday, we made a few changes to how Cartel Packs work with the release of the GEMINI pack. I want to share the changes that were made to the pack. Grand Chance Cubes/Bronze Items The primary feedback we have heard from players over the past few months is that you would prefer to receive Bronze items rather than Chance Cubes. For that reason, one of the first things you will notice is that we have re-introduced Bronze items back into the Cartel Pack. Although you can get amazing items out of the cubes, we took your feedback and made the following changes: We have introduced multiple Bronze items into the GEMINI Pack. To allow for the addition above, the drop rate of…

SWTOR Max Character Slots to be expanded to 50

BioWare is considering expanding the max amount of character slots to 50 in Star Wars: The old Republic. This is to accommodate the Dark vs Light event. Maximum Character Slots Per Server | 06.28.2016, 03:07 PM Hey folks! One of the questions that came out of the Dark vs. Light Event announcement was the current maximum character limits per server. There are some players who have all 40 slots filled, and were concerned about participating in the event. I wanted to let you know that we are actively testing right now the possibility of increasing that maximum by 10. That would mean that a subscriber could have a server maximum of 50 characters. We are exploring if this is a safe change to make and I am hopeful that I will have an answer about this today. As soon as I have any other information I will pass it on….

Chicago Star Wars Museum Cancelled

In what would have given us another good reason to visit Chicago, we now have news that George Lucas has cancelled the plans to build a Star Wars museum. The Chicago Tribune recently reported that Lucas has halted his Windy City plans to build The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art. It would seem that Lucas has spent the past two years arguing with the city of Chicago over the land the museum was to be built on. The story says that back in 2014, a group called Friends of the Parks filed a lawsuit that sought to stop the museum from being built on the Chicago lakefront. they say that anything build on the lakefront has to specifically benefit the citizens of Chicago since this land belongs to them. The Star Wars museum proposed by Lucas would not, in their opinion, specifically benefit the people of Chicago. It doesn’t make a lot of…

SWTOR Dark vs. Light Event Angers Some Vets

Star Wars: The Old Republic is getting ready to introduce their biggest event yet. The Dark vs. Light Event will unite the galaxy in one way or another, or it will tick off vets and confuse new players. There seems to be a little bit of all that going around. So we brought you the news of the latest (and seemingly biggest) event of SWTOR, the Dark vs. Light event and if you’ve been reading the forums, Reddit, and other places where SWTOR fans lurk, you may have noticed that there are some very disgruntled veteran players. So what is that all about? It’s a new event, right? This should be a good thing, right? Well, the short of it is that this huge event was clearly designed to entice new players only. There’s nothing wrong with enticing new players. This means we keep the game live, there are more…

Star Wars Galaxies Fan Fest (2005)

Back in the day, there were two Fan Fests for Star Wars Galaxies. LucasArts hosted these events as a way to honor and celebrate the many fans of the game, and also to provide a way for them to all come together and meet. The 2004 Fan Fest was held at the Hilton Anaheim in June. It was a great time to be in California as the weather is great and of course, the venue was wonderful. Players had the chance to meet one another and also to talk to developers, participate in panels, and play in in-game and live events. Tickets ran from $89-100, depending on if you pre-purchased or got them at the door. It was a lot of fun, as these types of fan events tend to be. If you played SWG back then, you will remember how close-knit the community was. In addition to it being…
