Visceral studio closing down. Unnamed Star Wars game moved to EA Vancouver
EA posted an update on the VISCERAL Star Wars project late last night. According to EA’s Vice President Patrick Söderlund, the studio is being closed down, and the game is being moved over to other EA studios, which will see the game through until its release. The Star Wars title was announced in 2013, and had that former Uncharted and Naughty Dog director Amy Hennig on the team, who was co-writing the title with Todd Stashwick. Posted by Patrick Söderlund Our industry is evolving faster and more dramatically than ever before. The games we want to play and spend time with, the experiences we want to have in those games, and the way we play…all those things are continually changing. So is the way games are made. In this fast-moving space, we are always focused on creating experiences that our players want to play…and today, that means we’re making a significant change with one of our…

3 Planets We’re Expecting to See in The Last Jedi
We’ve finally stopped watching the trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi on a loop. The trailer – released to satisfy fans’ eager excitement until the December 2017 release date and ticket sales – threw up more questions than it answered. From the circumstances surrounding Carrie Fisher’s General Leia Organa’s exit following the actress’s untimely death in late 2016 to the fate of Kylo Ren. While some fans were also quick to point out that the poster design resembled the face of Star Wars legendary villain Darth Vader. But we have one other burning question: which planets are we likely to see in the film and how will this impact the spate of games that follow it? One of the most exciting aspects of Star Wars Battlefront and Battlefront 2 is the variety of locations from the Star Wars canon that allow us a new planet to explore and battle…

SWTOR: Commanding Legacy and Mirror Classes
Eric Musco took on the official forums and provided some clarification regarding the Commanding Legacy perk for mirror classes: Hey folks, I verified with the team and the current implementation is intended, but I am seeing some confusion around the perk so let me explain how it works. Every time you hit Command Rank 300 on one of the mirrored base Classes (more on that in a sec) you get a 25% bonus to the base value for CXP gains. Since there are four sets of mirrors, you can gain four stacks of this buff, up to a total of 100%. It looks like this: Any Knight or Warrior to 300 adds +25% Any Consular or Inquisitor to 300 adds +25% Any Smuggler or Agent to 300 adds +25% Any Trooper or Bounty Hunter to 300 adds +25% Separately, I know there are questions about how we communicated (or didn’t) around…

SWTOR: “The Hot Prospect” is no longer a Hot Prospect…
Due to an Outrage through the SWTOR community, BioWare is renaming “The Hot Prospect” server to “Satele Shan”. So I guess we can start calling her the “Hot Prospect” Hey folks, We have made the decision to rename The Hot Prospect server to Satele Shan. Since we announced the new server names, we have received some concerns from people regarding the name The Hot Prospect. Specifically, that phrase could be taken in slang terms to be derogatory towards certain individuals. We take this very seriously as we would never want to create a situation where someone is made uncomfortable by something such as a server name. We will be updating all of our communications (such as the FAQ and blog) to reflect the new name in the coming days. Thank you for your understanding. -eric
