New SWTOR Arenas Coming Soon

In addition to the new Tauntaun mount that was revealed for SWTOR, Bioware also tells us we will be getting three new PvP arenas when Game Update 2.4 launches on October 1st. The three arenas will be found at Makeb, Tatooine and the new Space Garage. We don’t know a whole lot about them at this time but we do have some great pictures to serve as an example of what’s coming soon. At their San Diego Cantina Tour event they released some great screenshots of the new arenas (and Tauntaun mounts) so we all know what we have to look forward to. Just Push Start has shared some great images. Dulfy  also shared some images and info from her flash drive. Alex Modny, Assistant Designer for SWTOR came in the forums to explain a little more about these new PVP arena zones: In such a small, intimate area, LoS…

Angry Birds Star Wars 2

Attention Angry Birds Star Wars fans: something new and awesome is coming in September! New stories, new levels, and new characters in Angry Birds Star Wars 2. Also introducing TELEPODS! You can get it September 19th. It will feature “over 30 playable characters.” But the biggest addition is something completely new- the TELEPODS. Apparently you can buy these little figures from the store and then choose which ones you want to play your game with and it will allow you to boost that in-life toy into the game. Engadget.com explains how it works: What is surprising is that the newest Angry Birds entry has a physical twist that we’ve yet to see from the brand: something called “telepods.” The Hasbro-created toy is a physical representation of an in-game character, and Rovio Entertainment’s VP of marketing Philip Hickey tells us it works by using a mobile phone or tablet’s built-in camera to read the…

Does Obama Love Star Wars?

Is President Obama a big Star Wars fan? It would certainly seem so based on recent news events this month of Obama recognizing Star Wars as a cultural event and even reminiscing a bit about it: “I remember when I first saw ‘Star Wars,’ ” Obama said during his opening remarks as he presented the 2012 National Medal of Arts and National Humanities Medal to Lucas and other recipients. “There’s a whole generation that thinks special effects always looked like they do today. But it used to be you’d see, like, the string on the little model spaceships.” At the event, Obama awarded a dozen National Medals of Arts as well as another dozen National Humanities Medals. These “extraordinary men and women” have used their talents “to open up minds and nourish souls and help us understand what it means to be human and what it means to be an American,” Obama…

Amazon Now Selling Cartel Coins and “Umbral Blurrg” Pet

Don’t you wish you could just buy your SWTOR Cartel Coin cards online instead of having to head out to the store? Well, now you can. Maybe… As some others on the SWTOR forums have realized, Amazon is now offering the Cartel Coins with “Umbral Blurrg” pet. However, there are some stipulations. For example, Amazon does not ship them outside of the US. But some players have found a workaround. For example, if you are in Canada, you can use this service (http://www.cbiusa.com/) to have your items shipped to their address or to purchase digital items like this one. Players in Europe are using a workaround with a gift card and US address to purchase it. Here it is on Amazon: And here is the official product description: The Star Wars: The Old Republic 2400 Cartel Coins Card allows gamers to purchase 2400 Cartel Coins via the convenience of their favorite…

Celebrate KOTOR’s 10 Year Anniversary in SWTOR

KOTOR 3

It was hinted at more than once previously that we would have the chance to celebrate KOTOR’s 10th Anniversary in some way in SWTOR. Well today we have an official announcement of what this will include. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me and I’m actually glad to see Bioware using this opportunity to celebrate KOTOR in SWTOR. However, these planned events are one-day-only so it sucks if you’re going to be away on summer vacation or something. Take a look at the timelines for the celebration and see if you can check in. Maybe fire up your laptop on the hotel WiFi and grab your brand new title. Or hop on over to Facebook page and try to snag some free Cartel Coins in the giveaway. This news article was shared this evening: Celebrate KOTOR’s 10 Year Anniversary We are happy to announce that on July 15th we…

2.3 Graphical Color Improvements to SWTOR

SWTOR is getting something of a makeover in terms of colors. Most will agree that it’s an improvement but for those who have grown accustomed to seeing it in its darker fashion might not approve. Personally, I like it. I really think some zones were just a bit too dreary and drab with all the grey/brown. I like the improved colors and crispness of it all. It also seems to have more of a real feel and texture rather than the cartoony feel in some zones. I like this. One user shared some before and after pics on Reddit to help us see what the color changes look like: What’ll strike you first is the sheer colour in the game. These screenshots were taken in the exact same locations, with the same gamma/brightness/graphics settings. Before: After:  Before:  After:  To be honest, while I think this is a good move, I…

SWTOR Double XP Weekend Quick Tips

If you want to make the most of the double XP weekends and stims, then here is a little trick to help you when you need to run AFK for some food or a bathroom break or … whatever. A lot of people don’t realize that when you are in a conversation with NPCs or a cutscene, your timers are paused. This means your class buffs, stims and other experience boosts will not be running down on you and you can save the time if you need to step away. Your timers will also pause when looking at the Galaxy map so this is a good way to stop everything for a few minutes when you have to AFK. This works great when you’re solo but of course if you are running with a group, it will be a bit more difficult since they can holo call into the conversation….

KOTOR and SWTOR Combine for 10th Anniversary

Those who know me know that I love social media, and for good reason, as it connects us in ways that could never be possible before. It’s a great tool for extending your gaming connections as well. And it also helps us remain in contact with our favorite game updates and staff. Which brings us to a little tidbit from Twitter and Cory Butler this week. A couple of days ago a conversation happened that many might have missed. It’s such a small thing, yet says so much, especially for fans of SWTOR and KotOR. @AlexDGeslin asked @BlazeofCory Hey, I was wonder, are there any plans celebrate KotOR 1’s 10th anniversary on the #cartelmarket ? #swtorfamily BioWare Producer Cory Butler answered Alex Geslin’s question on Twitter and this would spark more questions about just what his answer meant and what we might all expect to see from SWTOR for the 10th anniversary….

Aratech Rose and Cathar Warstaff – New SWTOR Cartel Items

Here are two of the great new pieces available in SWTOR. First is the Aratech Rose speeder which I personally think looks pretty awesome. Second is the Cathar Warstaff which extends when drawn in combat and looks pretty freaking awesome. Both are available in the Cartel market for 1500CC and 400CC respectively. Aratech Rose- 1500 CC I really like this one. Personally, I’m also a fan of pink but many are saying it’s more of a dull pink and that it’s really just a Blur/lux reskin. Looking from Dulfy’s pics and video, I think they are right. For 1500 CC it would have been nice to get a little more than the same speeder in a different color. But I’d still probably get it, seeing as how there aren’t many alternatives. Video showing off the Aratech Rose speeder from the cartel market. Cathar Warstaff – 400 CC – Blade extends when…

SWTOR Datamining 2.2.2 PTS Edition

We have some more datamined info for you courtesy of SWTOR Miner on Reddit. Again, keep in mind that data mined info is not guaranteed to be in the game. It’s mostly speculation and rumor. Just because something is in the game files does not guarantee it will make it live to the game. There are some game files that have been there since beta and we have not seen the features go live. However, a great number of things we see in PTS data mines do end up actually in the game. Either way, it’s fun the pass the time- especially when there is not a lot of other new info coming out. So anyway… let’s take a look at this mined data. swtor_miner brought us another update on the 2.2.2 PTS: Well got little bit of special alone time with the 2.2.2 PTS files, and I thought I’d share…

Suspensions Over Cartel Color Crystals Going Out?

The SWTOR community was in an uproar yesterday over unexpected bans regarding the trading of Cartel color crystals. The confusion came in over whether or not it was within the rules to copy the crystals and send them to alts. It seems some players copied them and then attempted to sell them but players who copied and sent to their own account’s toons should not have been affected. However… some were reporting that they, too, were hit with the ban-hammer. There were threads on the official forums (that were locked) and threads on Reddit discussing the bans as players who had been banned from the game Eric Musco, Community Manager, then came in and made this post: Hey folks, I made a post about this here but I know it will lose visibility off the front page. I have no information right now but we are actively investigating your reports. I may…

Server Transfer News: Transfers available with patch 2.2 – hopefully

Eric Musco took on the forums today sharing some news on when players can expect to have character transfers go live.  At the same time he also shed some light on when Players get the chance to leave the APAC servers. Game update 2.2 is expected release date is 6/11 so if you have any toons stuck on servers with no friends on, it’s time to moove them. No information on pricing or details on what will be transferred over  yet though, but I expect it will be on-par with other games, so probably around $25 per character. They want it to be accessible enough that people who really want to can do it, but expensive enough that it doesn’t impact server populations. Hey everyone, I wanted to give an update on paid character transfers as I know it is something that everyone has been chomping at the bit for. The reason for our silence…
