Will A Legends Fan Favorite Appear on “Star Wars Rebels”?

There is an interesting rumor floating around about “Star Wars Rebels”“. Being that I am a fan of the animated series, I am curious if there is any truth to this rumor. So before we get into it, be warned there might be some spoilers in this post. Avert yourself now if you’re not up to speed on Star Wars Rebels. StarWarsMaking.net has the scoop: “I have heard that in Season 3 of Star Wars Rebels we will be introduced to none other than the original blue guy himself, Grand Admiral Thrawn from Heir to the Empire. From the sound of things, we’re going to see Thrawn as the tactical genius of capital starship warfare he was to Expanded Universe readers in the ’90s. However, this time he will be using his evil brand of genius against the the heroes of the starship Ghost.  The future of Star Wars Rebels will also feature an Ezra…

The Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens Trailer is Hilarious

Lego Star Wars games are some of my favorite games—they let you relive the Star Wars experience, but bring something new to it (usually that “something new” is hilarity). And the new trailer for Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens definitely has me looking forward to a new entry in the series. Between an X-Wing with windshield wipers, BB-8 running into things, and the Stormtrooper playing with the light switch on the troop transport, this trailer is really funny, and I can’t wait to see more from this game. It’s not out until 28 June, but we’ll be keeping you updated on any new information as soon as it comes out. Until then, what was your favorite Lego Star Wars game or scene? (I’ve always enjoyed playing as my favorite bounty hunter, IG-88.)  Let us know your favorites below!

Star Wars Pokies Should Make a Comeback

If you have not had the privilege of experiencing one of the popular Star Wars pokies, you’ve really been missing out. Even people who aren’t huge fan of slots found these fun if they liked Star Wars. There were a variety of games like those to test your Jedi skills, mega jackpots, and more. As we told you about before, Disney decided the Star Wars pokies were not family friendly and a couple of years back, decided to shut them down. This was a very sad time for many fans because the Marvel and Star Wars slot machines were some of the most popular around. Disney may feel like it wasn’t suiting to their family friendly image but it was the adults who enjoyed these games and the people who grew up on the original Star Wars movies are adults now. In fact, it is those adults who have kept…

EA’s ‘Battlefront’ Burden: We Can’t Violate the ‘Star Wars’ Canon

As far as Star Wars Battlefront is concerned, all must remain in the past. EA is bound by the canon and they can’t violate this, placing obvious restrictions on what they can do with story and game design elements. This means, despite the popular of the new heroes from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, there will be no plans to add Rey or Finn to future Battlefront expansion packs. It’s not that EA is against the new heroes. In fact, there’s a pretty obvious and logical reason for it. “Battlefront” is based on the science-fiction franchise’s original trilogy released between 1977 and 1983. “The Force Awakens” is set about 30 years after “Return of the Jedi.” It may sound obvious to some fans but then again, in a video game reality, we often like to think that we can change things as we choose and have fun with it. That’s true……

SWTOR: No Conquest for the week of Feb 2-9

Due to bugs, conquest for the week of Feb 2-9 is cancelled. Hey everyone, The team has finished looking into what has caused this week’s Conquest to not start properly. Unfortunately, the issue is a bit more complex than we have experienced in the past with Conquests. Due to this, we will be implementing a fix for this with Game Update 4.1 next Tuesday. This means that there will not be a Conquest this week, as we work to address the issue. We apologize for any inconvenience. -Tait

Captain Phasma Will Return to the New Star Wars Trilogy

Gwendoline Christie says Captain Phasma is not gone for good when she confirms the character she plays in The Force Awakens will be returning. Christie confirmed on the 2016 SAG Awards red carpet that her character will be returning. In a way, it’s not a huge surprise since it seems odd to think Disney would play up that character so much just to off her in the first film. No, I think we all suspected there would be more of Captain Phasma to come. Still, having it officially confirmed is fun. “I will be in the next Star Wars movie. I think that’s an exclusive, actually,” the actress told People Magazine. From the earliest marketing days for the newest film, Captain Phasma was a hit. The character resonated with so many people. She was intimidating. She was fierce. She was interesting. So many fans were disappointed there wasn’t more of her seen in the…

Items stack limit raised to 9999 with SWTOR Patch 4.1

Eric Musco just informed us that Game Update 4.1 will increase the stack limit of items from 99 to 9999. Good call if you ask me! Hey folks, One of the issues we have seen brought up quite a bit in this thread is storage space. Although we aren’t adding new bays at this time, one change to help with storage is that any item which previously stacked to 99, will now stack to 9,999. This change is coming in Game Update 4.1 Thanks! -eric

More Star Wars after the New Trilogy

If you thought all we had to look forward to was the new trilogy, then Star Wars fans can sit back and listen to some very good news: Word in the industry is that we are going to see more Star Wars films after the newest trilogy. Bob Iger told the BBC that plans to continue delivering space opera installments were in place for beyond 2019, when Colin Trevorrow’s Episode IX is due to hit cinemas. That’s great news, right? If you’re a Star Wars fan, then I’d say it probably is. Of course some people are skeptical about whether or not these films are going to be good, and whether or not they can keep the franchise going with that many films and it still be successful but if anything can do it, it’s Star Wars. “There are five Star Wars films – four more with Episode VII: The…

You Could Own Luke Skywalker’s Blaster

If you have a lot of cash, that is. While there has been a lot of mystery surrounding Luke Skywalker since the release of the latest film, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, it seems it has increased the popularity of Skywalker memorabilia even more. It’s not a huge surprise then that when the DL-44 Blaster Luke Skywalker used in the 180 film “The Empire Strikes Back” went up for auction, fans are taking note. It’s starting at $200,000 with Nate D. Sanders. Here is the description from the auction listing: Luke Skywalker’s DL-44 Blaster from ”The Empire Strikes Back”‘. This iconic hero gun is the same model used by Han Solo, a design based on the German issue Mauser C96 pistol and custom made by casting the original prop used in the first ”Star Wars”. Gun retains its original flash suppressor and scope, though it does not (and never did) fire,…

TOR TV: Knights of the Fallen Empire Fan Trailer

Here’s another entry for the Build Your Alliance contest by BioWare and Nvidia that we really love. This is a fan trailer for Knights of the Fallen Empire and is just a little over 2 minutes long. If you haven’t seen it yet, we’ve embedded it below and it’s well worth the time. The attention to detail, the story element, all of the fine details are present in this one. It has the immersion element that gamers love and makes you feel like you want to jump in and start playing like NOW. It appeals to Star Wars fans who love being the hero and it pulls you in with your emotions as well as the intrigue. I’ve been looking at tons of these since the contest began but this one definitely stands out among the majority. It’s very well done, nearly professional-level quality. “A recreation of the Force Awakens…

January SWTOR Story Livestream Notes

BioWare posted a video yesterday featuring Charles Boyd and Alexander Freed. The video go over the story in Knight of the fallen empire, and upcoming content we can expect with chapter 10. KoTFE Recap Storytelling in games has the unique of challenging of having players able to see and know the villain without placing players in the same room as them as they would be dispatched quickly by the player. You need to get the villains upclose to the players to be a significant presence in their life. It would be hard to imagine Star Wars Ep4 told from only Luke’s perspective. Vader would just be a random Tie Fighter pilot. Vaylin is an unpredictable villain. She is difficult to pin down, you never know what she is going to do next. You got lots of serious figures like Arcann being very stoic. So seeing her and Arcann act entirely different…

Top 10 Classic Star Wars Battlefront Maps

If you play Star Wars Battlefront, you probably have a favorite map. Most everyone has a favorite map (or two) that they love more than any others. In fact, this seems to be the case in any game of this type. I know I have a shortlist of my favorite TF2 maps and also a shortlist of the ones I hate and try to avoid ever playing on. So WatchMojo took a look at some classic Star Wars Battlfront maps and also asked their viewers to vote on their favorites. They used this poll to create a ranked list and then made this video about the results. So where did your favorite maps stack up? The top five included Hoth, Kashyyk and Naboo City. Also rounding out the top 10 was Kamino and Bespin. Other maps that were voted on: Yavin 4, Felucia, Korriban, Utapau, Vjun, and more. Check out…

Kylo Ren’s Lightsaber and KOTOR – Is There a Link?

If you’ve seen the new film already (and if you haven’t, how are you avoiding the spoilers?!) then you may have even picked up on this already, especially if you were a big KOTOR player/fan. Some are saying there is a possible link between Kylo Ren’s lightsaber in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and the old beloved Star Wars video game, Knights of the Old Republic. If this link is true, it could bring things around in terms of Star Wars film canon. Eurogamer.net takes a look at this theory: There’s a believable link between Kylo Ren’s crossguard Lightsaber and, specifically, Knights of the Old Republic 2, although KOTOR1 and Star Wars: The Old Republic have to be included because of their shared timeline and, particularly, main character Revan. The link regards the origins of Kylo Ren’s Lightsaber, and a revelatory paragraph in a “Visual Dictionary” book accompanying the film….

Changes to Start at level 60 Armor in SWTOR

We missed a forum update by Eric Musco late last night, but Start at 60 armor granted to new characters will become bind on pick starting with patch 4.1. Hey folks, Right now, when you make a brand new Start at 60 character, the armor that your character is wearing is Bind on Legacy. This has allowed players to make characters with the purpose of moving that armor appearance around to other characters. What we have seen on our side is that this has created a large increase in players creating characters just to get the armor sets, and then deleting those characters. This has created a negative impact on the data side. In order address this, we need to make some changes to how that gear works. Starting in Game Update 4.1, the gear that comes with a Start at 60 character will be Bind on Pickup. This change will…

Changes to Cartel Market Packs with SWTOR Patch 4.1

Eric Musco updated the community on the changes Coming Cartel Market Packs with 4.1 Hey folks, As you may know, our Cartel Market team has been making constant adjustments to how packs work, since our rework in Fallen Empire. We have heard in the past few months a lot of feedback from players that they really like the functionality of the “Grand Packs.” Think of anything from the Bronze, Silver, Gold Packs to the old Grand packs we released last year. Because of this, we are making some changes to the new pack which will release with 4.1. Currently when you open a Cartel Market pack, this is what you receive: 2 items from the pack (Mounts, Decorations, etc) 1 grade 5 or 6 Companion Gift 1 Scrap When you open the new Firebrand Pack in 4.1 you will receive the following: 2 items- either a new item from the…

TOR TV: SWTOR: Knights of a Fallen Empire – Rise Fan Made Trailer

Here’s another fan film that was made for the #BuildYourAllianceContest and we think this is pretty good too. The music choice has a very classic Star Wars feel to it and builds that drama and momentum with the increase tempo of the music. When paired with the dramatic imagery, it’s a fantastic 2-minute trailer. If I had never seen SWTOR or KotFE before, I would want to play it after seeing this. I think that definitely means it did it’s job, right? With so many entries into this contest, I can bet it will be very difficult for them to choose a winner. In the meantime, we have some great shot films to check out. Also, if you have a friend you’ve been trying to get into SWTOR or the new expansion, some of these trailers might be just the way to go ahead and win them over to your…

Crafting Changes in SWTOR Patch 4.1

Eric Musco just posted a forum update about the crafting changes players can expect with Patch 4.1. With the release of 4.0 we made a pass at focusing and streamlining Crew Skills and with 4.1 we are continuing this effort. We want crafting to remain an important alternative to Mission and Operation gear. With the release of 4.1 we are releasing an alternative to the KotFE gear. This new tier of gear will be the best craftable gear that does not require exotic crafting materials, and to support this tier, we are introducing a new grade of crafting materials and missions. With this new change, we want Crafting to remain an important alternative means to collecting the most powerful gear in the galaxy – whether you’re looking to gain an edge in combat, or turning a tidy profit on the Galactic Trade Network. There are a few terms that we will be…

“Kara” A Star Wars Fan Film

Star Wars fan films… oh, you know how much we love them! Here is a fun one put out by A Whitelist Production just a couple of weeks ago. It’s called “Kara” and it’s a little over 7 minutes long so it’s not going to eat up your entire afternoon to give it a watch. I will say this though: it left me wanting to see more from these guys. For an unofficial Star Wars film, it’s pretty darn good. It’s not Hollywood perfect quality but it’s really darn good and has a good feel to the story. Because they kept it so short and sweet, I think it even adds more to the appeal. Some of these fan films are too drawn out and it makes it much more difficult to capture and hold the attention of the audience for that length of time. It also draws us in,…
