Bioware Canceled Shadow Realms to Focus on SWTOR

Today, GameInformer reported that Shadow Realms, a 4v1 action RPG in development at BioWare Austin, has been canceled. Shortly after this new went out, BioWare Austin GM Jeff Hickman confirmed the news himself. “We’ve made the decision to not move forward with development of Shadow Realms,” wrote Hickman in a post on the official site. He went on to explain that “right now there are other projects for the team to work on within the BioWare studios for the coming year and beyond,” citing Star Wars: The Old Republic as the biggest focus, followed by Dragon Age: Inquisition, the next Mass Effect game, and “other new IP.”” This is unfortunate news for fans who were looking forward to the game and also some may find it disappointing to see so many potential games getting the axe before they ever get to production. The downside here also is that this was to be BioWare’s first original game…

SWTOR Producer’s Road Map 2015

SWTOR’s Senior Producer Bruce Maclean has released the teams Producer’s Road Map for 2015. If you ahve been following our blog, there ain’t much new info, as most of this stuff, as it is basically just a write down of the letter that was read at the last Cantina Event with no new details or teasers. Most of the community that is concerned about future content probably already knew all this but I guess this makes it “official”… Producer’s Road Map 2015 Hi everyone! For many, the start of the year is a time for setting goals and planning for the future. This is something we have been focused on here at BioWare Austin. 2014 was an amazing year for the team. We delivered two expansions, an overhaul to the class system, and regular story updates through Flashpoints. I’m proud of what the team has accomplished, and we would not…

SWTOR Controller 3.0: Which One Would Be Yours?

Here it is… the new SWTOR controller 3.o. It has everything you need for a hilarious, I mean, fun time playing the class of your choice. You may need to make the image bigger to see all the details but we think you’ll like it as much as we did. The Hatred Assassin, for example, has the “Instant win” button. It also has buttons for resetting the battle the 1st, 2nd and 3rd time. Lightning Sorc has the “ForceSpam” button and don’t forget about all of those LOLs. All in all, it’s a pretty hilarious diagram and we know our readers can appreciate it as well. Thank yous go out to Xinikos on Reddit for the heads-up and some of the commenters there have some pretty good ideas of their own. If you had a custom controller to play SWTOR, what would your functions be?

Some Interesting Theories on Kylo Ren’s Lightsaber

Since we first saw the trailer, Kylo Ren’s lightsaber has drawn a lot of criticism. People have said that it’s weird, complained about it, even started a hilarious meme based on it (my favorite is the Swiss army lightsaber). But a few others have given it more thought. For example, FastCo posted a great defense of the saber in which they pointed out that Luke lost a hand, Vader lost a hand twice, and Count Dooku lost both hands—all because they didn’t have a crossguard. They also have a few interesting ideas about what it says about Ren. One of the most interesting ideas that’s surfaced is that this isn’t a lightsaber at all, but a Forcesaber (an example of which is pictured above), an extremely ancient weapon that channels dark Force energy through crystals to form a blade. According to some Expanded Universe sources, the Je’daii order was split over whether or not…

Patton Oswalt: Racist ‘Star Wars’ backlash is ‘depressing’

After the release of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer, Star Wars fans were in awe and thrilled about the upcoming blockbuster hit. However, racism started buzzing about the British actor John Boyega, who they featured quite a bit in the clip. Mr. Boyega is a down to earth dude and stated that the racist fans would have to “get used to it.” Some fans just didn’t like the idea of a black stormtrooper, but comedian Patton Oswalt told Vulture that this kind of hatred is ridiculous. “Oh, that’s depressing, Jesus Christ. ‘Star Wars,’ half the movie is aliens and robots, and a black guy is what set people off? I love how they’re reacting as if this is a classic novel that’s being cast — ‘I can’t believe they booked James Earl Jones to play Holden Caulfield.’ But this is a script that no one has read, so…

SWTOR/KOTOR Tattoo Sleeves

We have written before about Star Wars tattoos (like the SWTOR tats that the dynamic duo,Dr. Greg Zeschuk and Cory Butler got) and these fans who love SWTOR enough to get inked forever. Some people are just not into tatts and that’s perfectly fine but I do love to see the creative ways people express their love for Star Wars. With that in mind, here is a perfect example. Gorrin (on Reddit) has a KOTOR/SWTOR themed sleeve. In fact, both of his arms are decked in Star Wars color tattoos. If you’re a fan of the dark side, you’ll probably appreciate this even more than most. You can check out full-color photos for yourself here: So we’ll ask our readers again: do you have Star Wars or SWTOR ink? We’d love to see your pictures in the comments!

SWTOR patch 3.1 Datamined – Prinawe Mounts comming soon?

swtor_potato have discovered Several Prinawe mounts in SWTOR, while Datamining patch 3.1. It’s not completely certain how they will be added to the game, but dataminers say it might be a reward for future cantina tours. Here are what they found in the latest patch: String Changes GOM Changes File Changes Class, Converation, MTX and Codex changes New MTX Images: New Soundtracks: Many of you probably missed my second lot of MTX images in my previous post, so check it out (includes black-silver crystal picture) The cooldown of shoulder cannon is 1.5 seconds, not 1. The cooldown value was being casted to an integer when it shouldn’t of been. I don’t know how long the Soundtrack video will last, YouTubes content ID system matched one of the tracks against one of the prequel tracks. Things of note: Black silver crystal replaced by Black Purple Striated crystal. Jetpack mount being worked…

Star Wars Humble Bundle Blows Clean Past $1 Million Mark

..and it does it in less than 24 hours. Indeed, a Humble Bundle of games tossed onto the market in cooperation with Unicef, has raised some $1.3 million in less than 24 hours. The bundle is made up of a number of Star Wars-themed games, depending on how much money the buyer is paying for the deal. More than 134,000 sales of the bundle were registered within the first 24 hours of the Humble Bundle’s availability, and the package is slated to be kept available for an additional 13 days. The excellent performance logged by the Star Wars bundle put it right into second place on the all-time best selling Humble Bundles list, second only to the Sid Meier Humble Bundle, which managed to accrue more than $1.7 million over its first 2 days. How exactly does this Humble Bundle deal work though? Players interested in picking up the game…

SWTOR Story update: The Price of Power

BioWare posted a new role play update ion the official SWTOR Website. Not sure who wrote it yet, but it is definitely worth a read. Check it out below: The Imperial Guard stood at attention as Darth Lachris strode down the hall to the Dark Council Chamber. Red sand clung to her hair and robes, the color an intense contrast to the sterile walls of the Academy. She did not presume to know why her master had summoned her. Assumptions were dangerous, an acolyte’s move that she had long outgrown. The door opened with a hiss. Darth Marr sat alone, still as the statues of dead Sith carved into Korriban’s bedrock. Upon reaching the middle of the room, Darth Lachris kneeled. Sweat ran down her back despite the cool air inside the chamber. “Master,” she whispered. The cords and spikes of the armor encasing Darth Marr’s body gleamed in the chamber’s…

Star Wars Battlefront: New trailer to release in GDC 2015?

Star Wars fans are dying to see a clip of the new game Star Wars: Battlefront , but EA DICE has kept all their details away from the public eye. However, it seems that the game studio is ready to show some details at the Game Developers Conference; supposedly a trailer will be shown. The report comes from Star Wars HQ, an insider to the Star Wars world. The website said that this trailer is going to be 15 minutes long, so with a video that long we should receive some serious details about the game. Master Herald has stated that Star Wars: Battlefront will come as a holiday gift to gamers because it will be part of the EA Access program. This allows all Xbox gamers that has a subscription to EA Access to play the new game before PC and PlayStation players can. Star Wars: Battlefront was intended…

Handmade Revan Armor by Fan

We love when fans share the awesome Star Wars and SWTOR-themed projects they do so we were happy to see this one from JigabooFriday on Reddit. He did an amazing job! The handmade Revan armor is superb but of course, hardcore fans couldn’t have it in that dreamy bedroom backdrop so some took the liberty of editing his photos to give cool captains and/or scenes in the background, which of course, makes it even more fun. I admit what’s really missing is how he did it. I would love to see him take the time to type up an instructional piece so those of us at home can follow suit. Even better, if you’re thinking of doing something like this, take some pictures or video for us along the way and show us exactly how it’s done. Then be sure to message us here and we’ll even feature you in a story….

Will Vader Be Returning in Episode VII?

One of the stranger rumors that’s been making its way around the internet lately is that Darth Vader will return—in some form or another—in Episode VII. While that may sound ridiculous at first, a few people have made some interesting arguments, and they could be supported by some evidence that we’ve seen. Let’s take a look. Some of the Vader-returning theories center on Kylo Ren, the Sith that we’ve seen in the trailer; he’s the one with the much-discussed red lightsaber (or at least that’s what we assume so far—we know he’s a villain). Some of the speculation of Vader’s return is almost certainly a result of Ren’s helmet, which bears an undeniable resemblance to the Dark Lord’s: This has led a few people on Reddit to speculate that Ren somehow personifies or channels Darth Vader; it’s also been suggested that this actually was Vader’s helmet, and that Ren has stolen…

Star Wars Humble Bundle is a Deal You Don’t Want to Miss

I will admit, I am a big fan of Humble Bundle. Not only have I used it to get some pretty sweet deals on games for myself, but we also use it often in a gaming community I am part of to get great game prizes for our members. It’s a good idea for gifts, too. Humble Bundle works by allowing you to choose your price. The number of games  you get from a bundle is based around the average price donated so far. If you get in early, you can usually get the lowest pricing. Of course, if you really like what they’re doing and you want to support the developers, Humble Bundle and charity, you can donate more. So you name your price and you can pay with credit card or Paypal and you get the games included in that bundle. I like that nearly all the games…

How George Lucas Built His $4 Billion ‘Star Wars’ Empire

Disney CEO Bob Iger released a report to all shareholders to update them on the Star Wars films status. These rights were acquired after Disney purchased Lucasfilm from George Lucas on December 12, 2012 for a whopping $4.05 billion. Because Lucas owned all of the company he pocketed every single dime. “Next year, we’ll release our first standalone movie based on these characters, followed by Star Wars: Episode VIII in 2017, and we’ll finish the trilogy with Episode IX in 2019,” wrote Iger. Star Wars: The Force Awakens is the first installment for the new trilogy, and it will be the seventh film in the entire Star Wars franchise. Star Wars LIGHT UP Chop Sabers from Think Geek

How much cooler can you get than Light Up Lightsaber chopsticks? This is another great product we received from ThinkGeek.com for review and this is the one I had to try to hide from my kids the hardest. I mean, what kid doesn’t want mini lightsabers? Too bad for them, this was my toy! I was super excited to get them out of the packaging and find something noodly or rice-based to fully enjoy the experience. If you do choose to actually eat with them, the clear sticks are removable for easy washing. The assembly was the hardest part of these. The parts are tiny, the batteries (included) are even tinier and I spent quite some time trying to get them to go into the spring-loaded battery area. This is definitely not for small children! However, once I managed to get the batteries into the handle and close them up,…

Government is ready to set online gambling. You believe!!

Online gambling appears in the cards for the Canadian after the government-run gaming monopoly launched a tender for a technology provider. In January, the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commissiion (AGLC) said the concept of a government-run online gambling site was “actively under review” after determining there were “expectations from consumers that be available to Alberta players.” Alberta could soon join most provinces in having government-run online gambling sites. If the plan goes ahead will be able to play the slot games from home.Bill Robinson, the CEO of the Gaming and Liquor Commission , spoke with the Calgary Eyeopener’s David Gray about the plan to bring government-run online gaming to make popular.CEO Bill Robinson said the AGLC was “going out into the market place to see what types of programs exist and would be best for us.” Assuming they see something they like, provincial finance minister Robin Campbell would make the final call. He noted that people in Alberta…
