Star Wars: Battlefront 3 Video Reveals Possible Features?

There has been much speculation and controversy about Star Wars: Battlefront  because there has not been any solid information about the game except that it’s due to release late this year. Fans of the game could not find any information regarding the game as far as new abilities or gameplay information. Recently, a new video has been found on YouTube talking about what players will get to experience when it comes to new Force abilities. However, this new video has not been confirmed by the developers of the game or any other worthy source. There have been other videos that had information about gameplay but none of them have revealed as much as this one. The question is, do you think this information is viable and true? There have been a couple of other videos posted in regards to the gameplay, but nothing that is reportedly this revealing. The Force…

Footage from cancelled Star Wars game shows Darth Maul in action

Video game developer Red Fly Studios and publisher LucasArts were working on a new Star Wars based Darth Maul video game experience in 2010, which was supposed to expand the gameplay mechanics that were introduced in The Force Unleashed. Footage of the game has emerged online and sources are saying that the game was designed to initially be launched only on the Wii U by the same team that handled the port for Star Wars: The Force Unleashes II. LucasArts was impressed with the initial development work done by Red Fly Studios and decided to also greenlight the title for the PC, the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3. Prototypes were being created in late 2010 using Darth Maul and his unique double-sided lightsaber as the core feature, but it seems that George Lucas intervened in order to add a cooperative element to the title, with the inclusion of Darth…

The 10 Greatest Star Wars Games of All-Time

If you had to pick your top 10 greatest Star Wars games of all time, what would make your list? There are many similar lists out there. I think I’ve even done one myself in the past. But I still enjoy seeing what games make others’ lists of top Star Wars games. Sp this is why I am happy to bring you this story from Dorkly where they place SWTOR at the number three position. And this is what they had to say about it: Star Wars Galaxies was the first real attempt at a Star Wars MMO – and it was…problematic. Buggy, complicated, not-that-fun (depending on who you asked), etc. It was supposed to be the chosen one – the one who would bring balance to the world of MMOs, then (and now) dominated by World of Warcraft. Sadly, it was not, and had its legs sliced off and…

LucasArts Post Job Openings for New Open World RPG

It’s been awhile since we’ve heard anything about a new game from LucasArts but it appears that could be about to change. Metro.co.uk talks about a job listing that indicates there is a new “open world” RPG in the making. This is exciting news but it also raises a lot of questions and peaks the curiosity of all types of gamers. The last title released by LucasArts was “Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II”, which seemed to leave a lot to be desired for many gamers. The idea of a new game is exciting for many. There’s no way to know if this will be something related to Star Wars, Indiana Jones or something completely different. Job ads are the most dependable source when it comes to leaning about new games but they’re very vague about the information they provide. It simply states that LucasArts is looking for more people…

The Guild Sphere: Sentinels of the Light

European PVE guild Sentinels of the Light took some time to answer our questions this week Where did your guilds name come from? The name was originally created by myself and Myphos long before SWTOR was announced. The name was based on our love of the Sentinel class in KotOR. A guild was created on World of Warcraft for our little cohort of friends to play, mingle and socialise while tackling a few of the end game features. We eventually decided to make an addition of “of the Light” to reflect our Lightside loyalty (or good in the case of WoW). This name then followed through with the knowledge of a future Star Wars MMO. Can you give me a quick 2-3 sentance description of your guild? A European based, casual guild that is all about fun, maturity and taking our time, while still aiming to tackle the end-game content…

Lego And Star Wars – You Can’t Go Wrong

Everyone knows that Lego is fairly damn awesome, and the Star Wars franchise is a huge influential part of “geek” culture. So when you mash these 2 things together you’re bound to get something amazing out of it. That’s exactly the thinking behind the Lego Star Wars series from LucasArts, and they have a new one lined up that’s about to drop. Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars will see players to control many familiar characters within the Star Wars universe, with the game set during the animated Clone Wars series and also scenes from Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones. Below is a trailer we’ve been sent which shows off a small piece of what people can expect. Released on 25 March for all formats, including the 3DS, the game is based on the (and ever improving) animated series. The latest trailer is just out and…

Damion Schubert talks game narrative in this month Game Developer Magazine

In the latest edition of Game Developer Magazine, Damion Schubert, Lead Systems Designer for Star Wars: The Old Republic, is once again discussing game narrative. As we all know this is one of the key issues  in SWTOR – the fifth pillar as they call it. Here is a short excerpt: The deepest backstories in games come from licenced ones. ARKHAM ASYLUM and FORCE: UNLEASHED have decades of material to draw from and, in both cases, designers worked hard to ensure that they drew on commonly recognized elements recognized by casual fans as well as Easter eggs to cater to the hardcore. In a licensed project, perhaps no application of story is more important, and when reviwers state ARKHAM ASYLUM really brings Batman’s world to life, or that FORCE UNLEASHED captures the far reaches of the Star Wars universe, you have a good understanding why these games succeeded. Schubert goes on to look…

Retro ( and new) Star Wars Advertising

The world would be a different place today if it weren’t for Star Wars. Check out this selection of Star Wars Retro Videos: Kellogg’s C-3PO’s I remember when I was a kid, and saw C3PO’s cereal in the grocery store. I rolled my eyes, wondering what ELSE they were going to slap my friends on. By that time, I was well over the hyper-marketed licensing, though I still loved the films. It’s over two decades later, and I now look at C3PO’s with quite a lot of fondness. Perhaps they seem innocent, in a time when any film marketed at kids gets it’s own cereal (though with the new laws and such, for how much longer). George Lucas Japanese TV Commercial I am fairly sure that George Lucas would never do a TV commercial like this in U.S. So be warned, this video represents the funniest use of stormtroopers since…

Hasbro confirms The Old Republic action figures

Lucasfilm isn’t shy about diving deeply into Star Wars lore to churn out plastic toys based on the people, starships and beasts of George Lucas’ universe(s). But what about turning those Star Wars video games into action figures? Sounds like two upcoming video games could be ripe for Lucas exploitation. According to the September 17 episode of The ForceCast, answers from an interview with Hasbro’s Derryl DePriest confirmed the plans: 0:44:00 – And as we look at 2012, that’s really where we think we’re going to look at The Force Unleashed II and The Old Republic. We have to work in some of those great characters. Of the many, many Star Wars video games, how many of them have been rendered in plastic 3 3/4″ form? As a lapsed Star Wars action figure collector, I’m asking you, hoping for an answer. Related Posts Devs Admit Players were Right on Warzone…

Rumor: Star Wars: Starfighter to be resurrected

Several video game news sites are reporting that the next installment of Starfighter could possibly be in the works and may even be revealed next week at E3. This is definitely a possibility, since LucasArts has not revisited any flight simulation games since Star Wars: Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike, released on the GameCube in 2003. Since we only know of  four upcoming Star Wars games (The Force Unleashed 2, The Old Republic, Lego Star Wars III, and the newly announced Clone Wars Adventures), E3 is a mighty fine time to announce a game, but for now, file this one away as a rumor.
