We’ve written quite a bit here about the rise and fall of so many Star Wars games. In recent years, this has always included talk of Electronic Arts. That’s because EA are the only ones who can make Star Wars games, at least for now. On May 6, 2013, Disney and Electronic Arts announced that the two companies had signed a ten-year deal to make Star Wars games. This would be a deal that many would later question, as it doesn’t seem to be working out for either party as well as they had hoped. It’s certainly not working out for the fans the way that we had hoped. Kotaku recently published a piece that talks about this exact problem – EA’s Troubled Decade of Star Wars Games. December 2018 held a certain significance, I’m sure the same can be said for many people for many reasons, however, for fans of the Star Wars movie saga it became the first time in the past four years without a new Star Wars movie to enthuse about, see, and discuss. Initially scheduled for a May 24 release, the hotly anticipated Star Wars: Episode IX denotes the end of a trilogy; a new chapter which began with JJ Abrahams’ December 17, 2015 release of The Force Awakens, followed by Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (Not part of the trilogy), with Episode 8 – The Last Jedi having relayed the second part of the adventure on December 14, 2017, and the trilogy will now come to a close with the bumped back, more traditional Christmas release window of Episode IX on December 20, 2019. Electronic Arts recently announced their intention to cancel the as yet unnamed Star Wars open world game project initially started by Visceral Games in 2013 prior to the studio’s final closure, the project also received a major overhaul during 2017. When contacted for a commentary the EA spokesperson failed to provide an outright confirmation of the cancellation of the project, which was under development in EA’s Vancouver studio. Instead, the spokesperson issued a noncommittal statement regarding the game’s current and future development. The spokesperson went on to praise the work done by their Vancouver team further stating the team’s work continues and would evolve into possible future Star Wars games and content. He also said they were fully committed to creating additional Star Wars games and that they were extremely excited about Respawn’s new release Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, inferring they would share more about their new projects when…

Happy new year!Now that that’s out of the way, it’s finally time for me to turn my attention to going over as much of what came with 5.10 as possible. Since this was a fairly major story patch, the most significant we’ve had since 5.0’s nine Eternal Throne chapters, I decided to enact my “one-month spoiler-free” safety window, hence why it’s taken me so long to get around to posting this. Of course, as is the way of things, this ‘safety protocol’ was rendered somewhat nullified as BioWare promptly began churning out full spoilers for the appearance of a certain character on their website and social media channels. Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes: C-3PO, Finn, and Phase 3 of the Sith Raid

There is currently a bug in phase 3 of the Sith Raid with Finn and C-3PO. The developers are gonna fix it next year when they figure out whether Finn lead or Traya tenacity is the thing to change: It’s come to our attention that there is an unintended strategy/interaction involving Finn(Leader – Zeta), C-3PO, Han Solo, Chewbacca, and BB-8 that allows players to auto Phase 3 of the Sith Triumvirate (Heroic). As we’ve indicated in previous updates, “when we discover an infinite loop that allows players to trivialize end game content, we try to act as swiftly as possible.” Learning from the issues with our Critolyte fix, we’re going to wait until the new year before we address this issue. Zynga had two great new announcements for us this week. First, they have a new multi-year agreement with Disney to develop a new free-to-play Star Wars game for mobile devices. on August 21st in an official press release, they shared the news of the new game: “Zynga Inc. EA Claims Star Wars Battlefront II Controversy Will Change How They Make Games

Electronic Arts, the publisher behind the 2017 game Star Wars Battlefront II has claimed that the controversy surrounding the game has changed how the company will design and release games in the future. The backlash towards Battlefront II began before the title even hit stores. During the pre-release beta testing mode of the sequel to the 2015 title Star Wars Battlefront, gamers grew frustrated with the in-game progression. EA created a loot box system and in-game currency which could be used to purchase new and improved heroes which were not based on player performance. Some of the most iconic heroes in Star Wars history were initially locked out for players and, as Polygon claimed at the time, players were expected to put in 40 hours in-game in order to unlock characters like Darth Vader. We haven’t posted about any cosplays recently (are people still doing this?) but we just stumbled upon a good one. Here’s an awesome Lana Beniko cosplay. She’s really good – it looks exactly like her and no details were left untouched. The level of detail on everything is amazing. She has the perfect natural features to play Lana, and she gets every little detail of her costuming and hair right as well. Lana Beniko was a Human female Sith Lord of the resurgent Sith Empire. During the Galactic War against the Galactic Republic, she served as a key advisor to Dark Council member Darth Arkous. Here are the patchnotes for the Star Wars: Battelfront 2 update, that was released a few days ago. This update brings about large changes to the Multiplayer Progression system, and unlocks all currently available Heroes and Hero Ships for everyone. With all characters now having a Unit Level, DICE don’t want to limit anyone’s chance to progress as they change the way you interact with these characters. On top of that,  Bespin makes its return from the first Star Wars Battlefront as a new location for Blast, Heroes vs. Villains, Arcade, and for a limited time as Jetpack Cargo. Sometimes, we get lucky enough to see this for ourselves. It’s Friday (at least in my time zone) and I’m finally able to go public with my big announcement! *******drumroll******* As of last Friday, I have left BioWare to pursue other creative ventures. Sledgehammer70 took on the official Star Wars: Battlefront forums,  to bring you the next patch for Star Wars Battlefront II! In this update DICE added a mix of requested features and fixes, as well as some brand new items. First off, DICE added additional locations to Custom Arcade: Kashyyyk, Hoth, Endor, Crait, Jakku, and Death Star II. They also launching a new game mode – Jetpack Cargo! This fast-paced mode sees players jumping around in jetpacks wielding rocket launches for the entire round. This mode will only be available for a limited time so check for availability and make sure to jump in and give it a try.
