DICE released a new patch for Star Wars: Battlefront today. The patch is 2.51 GB, and I expect we will find some interesting files in there just waiting to be datamined in near future. The patch introduce many bug fixes and balance issues, but also new content such as new hero starships and Mos Eisley at night as a new map. After a long period of silence, Dennis Brännvall had some interesting tweets about the upcoming game updates, or at least some teasers about what’s up. DICE have finally broke the silence and updated the community on future updates to the game. Here is the break down: End-of-round payout increase: EA promises that every activity will now see an increase in credits earned across the board, and top players will also receive an additional increase in credits won post-match. 3X Credit increase daily in Arcade Mode: Players have been hitting the daily cap in Arcade Mode, which is why EA has increased the payout to give players more of an incentive to play. Daily login crates increase: Players will now receive additional crafting materials every time they log in for the for the day. Players may have won the spat with EA over microtransactions in Battlefront II, but it’s not over. EA and DICE announced they would temporarily turn off the feature and many players rejoiced, counting this one a victory. However, the announcement made it very clear that loot boxes would be returning at some point in the future. “The ability to purchase crystals in-game will become available at a later date, only after we’ve made changes to the game,” said the statement. “We’ll share more details as we work through this.” So, this brings forth a couple of questions: How could they bring this back in a way that won’t create outrage? There hasn’t been a great Star Wars game with a quality story since The Old Republic. Those of you who have been here with us since the beginning know that it’s been nearly 6 years now. Speaking of the big Star Wars Battlefront 2 controversy of the past couple of days, more and more details are emerging and no one seems to want to admit blame for anything that’s happening. Players were enraged days before the official release (Nov 17th) because of the multiplayer monetization methods that are being called aggressive and predatory. According to the press release, the beta gave the team a chance to test all of its systems in action and tune things up for better balance. This is a really cool project that any Star Wars fan will appreciate. Check out the team making this helmet and then giving it to Janina Gavankar. If you watch the video below all the way to the end, you can also see an interview with her and the presentation of the helmet. It’s absolutely worth watching it all.
