The Guild Sphere: Sons of Anarchy

It’s Thursday and time for a new guild feature. This time “Sons of Anarchy” some old school star wars fanboys playing for the Sith empire took some time to answer our questions. Check it it out below:

Where did your guilds name come from?
I’m an avid fan of the show Sons of Anarchy, as I was watching the last season and following the Old Republic I began thinking how to incorporate the two.

Can you give me a quick 2-3 sentance description of your guild?
Sons of Anarchy is a guild with something for everyone; the founding members of Sons of Anarchy have over a decade combine MMO experience, in PVP as well as end gaming raiding and leadership. We know that there many potential members out there that can’t play at the drop of a hat, we understand that. That’s why we have general open membership; no level requirements just a strong core group of members that are willing to help you when you need it and available for other members.

How did your guild come about?
My brother and I are huge MMO gamers; we’d both started our MMO careers playing Everquest (around the time Luclin was just released). We had been in a smaller casual guild and assisted our guild mates with obtaining their epics and played pretty much through The Legacy of Ykesha. We moved on to SWG for a stretch, again joining a casual guild, my brother went back to Everquest and eventually onto WoW. While I began to dabble in Vanguard, Pirates of the Burning Sea, EVE and Everquest 2. We joined forces again recently in WoW as we both began to follow TOR. We had talked about forming a guild together since back in the days of Everquest but neither of us had time between school and work. We are both out of school now and hold down steady jobs and thought this would be a perfect opportunity to put our collective admiration for Star Wars and Sons of Anarchy together.

What kind of play style do you focus on? PvE, PvP, RP:
We are planning to be on a PvP server, I’ve always been a great fan of PVP of any kind, while my brother likes PVE and raiding. This was when we came up with our own “crew” system. We have two specialized crews available; one for focused PVP and one that focuses on PVE. These crews are not mutually exclusive; you may belong to one, both or none. Belonging to a crew merely means you want to focus, plan and train for something specific, by no means do you have to join either crew if you join our guild. Reaper crew is our focused team PVP crew; which gives an outlet for those looking for highly competitive organized guild PVP. Mayhem crew, our focused PVE group, provides members with organized raiding. We thought the organization would work great and give those wanting a focus a place to focus their skills and abilities.

What is your guild set up? How do you run your guild?
We currently have a council of officers/founding members. Our founding members merely look to steer the direction of the guild, however no major decisions regarding the guild will never be made without a a majority vote, leaving everyone with a voice within our organization. Our officers, working closely with our founding members will look to implement the direction set forth by the founding members and guild as a whole to reach our goals.

How serious do you play and/or run the guild?
Or goal is to be fluid with the mood of the guild. Our crews will be a little more focused than our general population but as such there should always be something for everyone to do so that you can pickup and go with a group of guildmates.

Do you have ranks or a certain hierarchy in your guild?
The founding members are at the top of the guild, followed by officers and then the general population. Our goal is for the founding members and officers to work closely to steer the guild in a direction as needed but everyone will have a voice. With our officers we are looking those who are willing to learn, those who are patient and those that won’t put other down. The main goal of an officer is to help and guide those in need.

Why did you choose the Sith empire?
I grew up watching Star Wars as a kid, I was born in the early 80′s, my brother was born in the late 80s and we’d watch it every chance we got. We’ve also both been fans of Bioware games for a long time now and it was only a natural progression after all the MMOs we’ve been involved with. We chose the empire because it seemed to fit well with the Sons of Anarchy motif, the rebels, its all in the attitude

Why do you run a guild?
I’ve always been a leader in various aspects of my real life, people gravitate toward me and listen and respect my opinions. I also love gaming and thought I could put my leadership skills to good use in this capacity.

How do you approach Raid Planning?
Are you always open for new recruits or do you want to keep a certain guild size?
For now we’re open to all new recruits we may revise this as necessary or the guild sees fit.

Age Requirement?
There are no age requirements, but we ask that conversations be kept civil and encourage our members to understand that conversations should be kept appropriate.

Guild size?
We currently have 11 members signed up on swtor.com and another dozen or so that will be joining us after launch.

What makes your guild stand out from everyone else? What makes your guild unique?
We understand that people have lives outside of the game, you can be as active as you wish, from being on everyday or only checking in from time to time. My day job is in the technology field so our guild website is all self built and we look to add a ton of new and innovative features once the game has launched.

How do you spend your time until release? Do you know each other in real life or do you spend a lot of time on forums?
All the founding members know each other in real life, there’s obviously my brother, my brother-in-law has also joined us and a mutual friend of my brother that he grew up with. I spend most of my time working on the technology for our guild, building/working on our website and recruitment videos. We all play frequently on xbox live together as well.

What Other Games are you currently playing as a guild?
The majority of us have been playing WoW recently.

If somebody is interested now how and where can they apply for membership?
Those that wish to join up with the sons of anarchy can find us several different ways; the official swtor.com guild site, make sure you apply there first (http://www.swtor.com/guilds/29251/sons-anarchy). We also have a twitter page setup http://twitter.com/soator and our YouTube page will be up shortly with recruitment videos at http://www.youtube.com/TheSoaTOR
And people can always contact me through private message on the official swtor.com website as well as via email rizzah@gmail.com

One last question, if there was one thing you could ask the Dev’s to include, what would it be?
When can I play? 😉
