Outer Rim DLC Price and Release Date

EA and DICE have finally confirmed some specific Star Wars Battlefront DLC release details and we know that it will cost $15 ($14.99 US) and that it will be available on March 22nd for Season Pass holders and on April 5th for everyone else. So there are the big questions out of the way. You can see it up for sale on Gamestop with the dates and pricing info now available. Mat Everett did say on Twitter that the company cannot confirm that the Gamestop release date is accurate. This is common practice for game developers but Gamestop has been historically accurate with their launch dates since they get this info from the companies themselves. So we’ll just say it’s as close to official as you can get before actually being official right now. When they announced the Season Pass, EA and DICE also promised new weapons, vehicles, Star Cards for…

Could it be KotFE Season 2 stuff? It’s really all speculation at this point. All we really do know is that we will get more content. Whenever conversations like this get started,…

Gameplay Footage of Star Wars: Knights of The Old Republic Unreal Engine 4 Mod

If you have not seen it already, here is the first ever gameplay footage of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Unreal Engine 4 remake by Apeiron. One thing I really like that he also points out in the video is that it’s from a first person view. I love first person in games like this and I’m very glad they went in that direction with it. They did say it will also be 3rd person so for those who don’t like the first-person view, you’re good too.  They do a great job at staying true to the original and it looks like a solid game so far, while of course it’s still in a very alpha development stage. I think from the looks of this very first gameplay footage, it looks very promising. Upper City Taris and Tatooine look great. In the footage, you can even see the…

DARTH MAUL: Apprentice – A Star Wars Fan-Film

Here we have an awesome Star Wars fan film for you. This is a non-profit, unofficially fan film that was created just for fun but we gotta say, it’s one of the best we’ve seen so far. The running time is under 20 minutes so it’s a fairly quick watch that packs a big punch. It’s creative, well acted, has great sound and a professional quality look and feel. It also has a good story that we can really get into. If you’re a fan of Darth Maul, we really think you’ll love it. It even has a lightsaber duel in the first four minutes and it just gets even better after that. Awesome! The quality is top-notch and the excitement is high level and the suspense is intense. The musical background plays this all up even more and all in all, it’s just a fantastic short story. It will…

DICE Says Free Patch Coming before Outer Rim DLC

Mat Everett of DICE announced on Twitter that the March free content update will release before the Outer Rim DLC. While Season Pass holders will get early access to Outer Rim, it’s still uncertain if this free update will come before the early access or before anyone at all sees the Outer Rim. This is good news for many players, as some speculated there would be no new free content with the DLC dropping in the same month. So that’s good news to see there will be new content all around. @SWBFNewsFR Our March free content update will release before the Outer Rim DLC. — Mat Everett (@sledgehammer70) February 23, 2016 There has also been some chatter from Dennis Brännvall, lead designer at DICE, about new heroes and other details from the game and the DLCs. He also confirmed that you will be able to use the new heroes on the…

The Academy, Ep 5 -“How Do Companions Work?”

Another episode of The Academy is out and this time we get to learn about companions. I’ve told you before how  much I love these videos. They are actually recorded from a podcast and then set to video which is why especially in the first few, you also hear another voice talking with her or saying “mhmm” now and then. But anyway, they are really great, useful videos for anyone new to the game. If you have a friend or family member you’ve been trying to get into the game, or someone you know who has just started to play SWTOR, you definitely want to turn them on to these videos. So here in Episode 5, Swtorista talks about one of the most unique features of SWTOR – the companion system. Companions can do a lot for you in SWTOR but if  you’re new to the game, you might have…

Actor Who Plays Finn wants a Battlefront Story Mode

So the actor who plays Finn in the new Star Wars film, John Boyega, wants to see a Star Wars Battlefront story mode. I cannot say that I disagree with that at all actually. As the lead actor tells EA, it gives a more enjoyable way to learn controls”. Again, we have to agree. Boyega says how he has been a fan of the series for years (why are we not surprised) but he definitely makes a valid point into why Electronic Arts should have added a story mode. It’s safe to say that many people who play (or those who are thinking about picking up the game) could benefit from a story mode. Sometimes you just feel like playing single player and again, it’s a good way to give them a feel for the game when just getting started. There would be several benefits to this type of game…

Starkiller from The Force Unleashed Cosplay

More cosplay fun – you know how we love this stuff! So here we have found another awesome Star Wars themed cosplay that we are happy to share with you today. Here we have Starkiller from The Force Unleashed: Starkiller I really love that this one has so many pictures and includes photos from the process and not just the completion. While the end product is great, it’s also fun and interesting to see how people make their costumes and cosplay parts. The creator says it was his first cosplay and I have to say, it’s very good quality for that. He was very creative with the materials and how he chose to use them. He also gives some tips about making cosplay costumes to the 501st or Rebel Legion standards. It will make it easier for you, which is something I have heard from a lot of other cosplayers…

EA Teases Future Star Wars Games and More

You know how we love Star Wars games and we know you do too. Now EA is giving some indication that we might have some more Star Wars games on the way soon. CFO Blake Jorgensen said this week that Battlefront, mobile game Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes, and free-to-play MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic did “extremely well” in 2015 and will continue to perform well in the time ahead.  He then goes on to say that the sky is the limit for Star Wars games and the brand, which really is not a surprise to anyone at this point. EA has the license to the brand for the next 10 years and with the new films coming out as well, we can bet they will do all they can to make the most of this opportunity. “We see it as a great start–building a strong base of people that…

Really Cool Darth Revan Cosplay from Katsucon 2016

You know how we love Star Wars and SWTOR cosplay here and you know how we love bringing you really awesome projects from other Star Wars and SWTOR fans. Well, here is another one of those that combines both of these. This is an awesome cosplay of Darth Revan from Katsucon 2016 and he’s shared pics with us, as well as other details about the sabers, photos and more. His costume was commissioned from WickedArmor.com and we know about the quality of work they put out on cosplay items and  I belive the lightsabers are custom made from Zia Sabers. So it’s a win-win all around for this beauty. Below is information from the owner, as well as pics of him in the costume. What do you think? I love how many different interpretations of Darth Revan there are out there. I mean, the premise is the same, of course,…

Star Wars: Battlefront – New Easter Egg Found In Twilight On Hoth Map

There’s an Easter Egg in the new map for Star Wars: Battlefront, Twilight on Hoth. The new map was added with the February update and it gives some hints that EA might have listened to the fans and decided to add tauntauns to the game. Unlike other Easter eggs found in the game, this one is a full size image, which hints that it might mean it’s coming in the game as a mount. It’s probably one of the most asked for items in the game. It’s a frozen, full size render of a Tautaun and one user got this on video so if you haven’t seen it yourself yet, here you go. What do you think? Could it be a sign of things to come? Is it just a little novelty for players who pay close attention while they’re roaming the frigid lands of Hoth?

SWTOR The Voice of Blizz

Okay, maybe not but now is your chance to know.  It’s the voice of Fred Tatasciore and the video shows clips that have been slowed to a point where you can recognize his actual voice if you’ve heard it before. He’s a very talented voice actor, well known for doing creature and monster voices. As we’ve mentioned in a previous post, it’s very interesting to learn more about the voice actors behind some of our favorite and most loved Star Wars characters. As for Fred Tatasciore, he is the best of the best. The Academy, Ep 4 – “Which Class Should I Play?”

We told you about this upcoming episode of The Academy and it’s a good one, especially for new players (the intended audience). This one is all about what class you should play. So if you’re new to the game, or know someone who is, this is a great video to watch before picking your class. The real bottom line is that every class is unique and good in its own way, so there really are no right and wrong choices. However, the class you choose when you’re just starting out may affect how you appreciate the game and if you want to stick with it long term. Different people have different player styles. What works for one person may not work for another.  If you try one class and you’re just not feeling it, it’s easy to just make a new character. We agree with Swtorista that you should try…

Player Harassment in SWTOR – Inaction and Consequences

We’ve talked about player harassment here before. It’s an issue in SWTOR. It’s an issue in MMORPGs. It’s an issue in video games. It’s an issue on the Internet. But what can be done about it? Now that is a question that has a lot of different answers. When we look at all the different ways in which harassment can occur, it becomes and even more complicated issue. So let’s look at SWTOR alone for the sake of this post. How can player harassment in SWTOR be handled better? There are some players who will say the current system in place is working as intended and that you just need to get used to it and move on if you encounter problems while playing the game. Then there are others who will disagree and say that more needs to be done about player harassment in the game. Xam Xam has…

Questions for the Director of Star Wars Uprising

Daniel Erickson has a reputation for reaching out to the community, especially when it comes to games he works on. This is something I really like, especially with my background in gaming and game writing. It’s nice to see directors, developers and game writers/editors who care about what the community thinks. It’s nice to see them taking the time to invest in their community and listen to their concerns, answer their questions and just open that dialogue. Sometimes that’s all it takes to make a player a lifelong fan because you’re showing that you actually care about them. With that said, Daniel Erickson is offering up the opportunity to pick his brain about Star Wars Uprising. In case you missed it on the forums, here’s the post: “Hey Folks, Got questions? I’ll do my best to answer them or find the expert that can. All posts will be read. Well intended…

An Open Letter to the Creators of the SWTOR Cartel Packs

Hyperspace Beacon has a few things to say to BioWare. Actually, they have a bit of a bone to pick with the SWTOR team. And he’s not alone in this one. There are many people out there who agree, as the comment section will show and I have to say that while I am a fan of the game and have been since the beginning, he makes very valid points on this one. There are some seriously annoying flaws with Cartel Packs and while this isn’t the first time it’s been said, the points are presented rather well. So what’s the beef? Well, here’s part of it: “I am disappointed by the execution of the latest cartel packs on many, many levels. It was difficult enough for me to accept these lottery boxes in the first place. It concerns me that the best looking and most desired items in the…

Players Salute Latest Star Wars Battlefront Update… Or Not

Players are not happy with the latest update to Star Wars Battlefront and they are letting DICE know about it. One sarcastic post on Reddit highlights  the issues well, with dry humor and snark, but this is not the only shout-out to DICE that this update blows. Some of the major complaints: players hate the new map nerfs and buffs don’t make sense DICE ignored many player requests/ report bugs still issues with the music/sound controls and the list goes on While it’s common for a new game to have issues and for any game to experience problems after an update, big or small, the real issue the community seems to have with DICE is the lack of communication and the fact that it seems they are not listening to their audience at all. When you ask players to spend such a large amount of money on a game, then…

TOR TV: The Imperial Army 47th I.E.F. Recruitment Video

I just love when players get creative with videos surrounding the game. I also love it when players get creative with their recruiting techniques. I think one reason for this is that I have been in charge of recruiting in many games and communities in which I played a serious role. In my WoW guild, I handled recruiting, as well as when my WoW guild moved to SWTOR. I also handled recruiting in a ranked/leadership position for a TF2 community I was part of for some time. I know all about the unique challenges that can come with recruiting. I know how hard it is when you want to encourage recruiting without spam, how hard it is to find the right people suited to your community or guild, how challenging it can be to find new, creative ways of advertising that you are accepting members and showing the benefits of…

Twi’leks in SWTOR and Rebels Have Something in Common

Twi’leks are a loved race in all of Star Wars. Did you know that they actually have something interesting in common in Star Wars Rebels and SWTOR? They share a voice actress. Vanessa Marshall voices Hera in Rebels and Alauni in SWTOR. Catherine Taber voices Numa in Rebels and Vette in SWTOR. Also, if Taber’s voice sounds familiar, it’s because she was also Padme in The Clone Wars.  She was also the voice of Mission Tao in KOTOR. See here:p View post on imgur.com As you can see, the voice actors of Star Wars games are a close knit group. There are definitely cross overs and not just with Twi’leks. But this was a happy little coincidence that we just had to bring to your attention (if you didn’t already notice). One thing that many Star Wars fans love is knowing the people behind the characters and behind the voices. It really…

The Academy Ep 3 Tells Us How Hardmode Flashpoints and Operations Work

SWTOR – The Biggest Comeback in PC Gaming History?

Some of you who have been around with us since the very beginning (pre-launch even) will know that SWTOR today and SWTOR then are like two different games. Sure, the premise and many of the elements are there, but it’s different in a variety of ways, all of which we think are for the better. This is just one more way that BioWare shows they listen to the players and also that they want to make great games that people truly enjoy. If something isn’t working, you tweak it until it does. They don’t just abandon their projects like many will do. BioWare really came a long way with SWTOR and we’re very glad it’s still with us today and we’re happy to have been with it since the beginning. PC Gamer is calling it one of the biggest comebacks in PC gaming history. Here’s a snippet of a piece…
