Bolstered Mods vs. Obroan

Tait Watson have been active on the official forums regarding Bolstered mods. Bolster was designed to replace Recruit gear because lets face it… Recruit gear sucked. It sucked for the people wearing it and it sucked for the people on their team because they were essentially a free kill. The best fix for Bolster imo is to remove it completely from 55 Warzones. Bam, PvP gear instantly is BiS. But what about the fresh 55? Right now Obroan (67) is the top tier of PvP gear, and Conqueror (65) is second. Add a third tier by bringing back Partisan (63), and have it cost 1 credit. Let people min/max Partisan as the “introductory” gear. Full min/max Partisan with augments will put you around 28k hp. Full min/max Conqueror will put you around 30k hp. Full min/max Obroan with augments will put you around 31.5k. Genuine gear progression without being as…

The Annals of Star Wars: Pre-Republic Era

13,000,000,000 BBY: The Big Bang, the galaxy is formed. According to most sources, the galaxy was 120,000 light years across, and had a supermassive black hole at its core. The galaxy was orbited by 7 satellite galaxies (Aurek, Besh, Cresh, Dorn, Esk, Forn, and Grek), most being described as having ancient, metal-rich remnants of stars but little life. A hyperspace disturbance on the perimeter of the galaxy prevented hyperspace travel into extra-galatic space. 5,000,000,000 – 2,000,000 BBY: Life emerges In this period of time, over 180 billion stars had formed planets that could support life. 10% eventually developed life, while intelligent life formed on 1/1,000 of these worlds. It was estimated that only 1 billion systems were eventually populated. These populations consisted of a wide array of creatures such as the Gorothites, Chevin, pre-arboreal Wookiees and many many others. 2,000,000 BBY: The Oracle is built on the world of Pelgrin…

George Lucas Wanted Boba Fett to Lead Star Wars 1313

I Think most people agree with me that Star Wars 1313 could have been an awesome game. Everything about it  just looked so cool. But unfortunately we all know the game will never happened. Mainly due to poor management by Lucasarts. Today we learned some more about what happened behind the scenes.  Just a few weeks before Star Wars 1313 was official announced, George Lucas himself told the developers he wanted the game to be about Boba Fett and not the protagonist we saw at E3. This of course created some what of a dilemma, as there were no Boba Fess assets ready before the public got a first glimpse of the game. Check out this great write-up over at Game Informer the downfall of “Star Wars 1313″ and LucasArts, headlined “Fall Of The Empire: How Inner Turmoil Brought Down LucasArts.” Here’s an excerpt about Boba Fett in particular being…

SWTOR 2.6a Patch Notes

Servers are back up after today’s maintenance and here are the patch notes. Personally I was hoping they would fix the warzone scoreboard bug with this patch. It’s not a big deal but it’s annoying to try to figure out who on your team or theirs did what. General Performed systems maintenance to assure service reliability. Corrected a texture issue that caused skin to be colored incorrectly when wearing the Relaxed Vestments Chestwraps. MMORPG – Interview w/ Jeff Hickman & Bruce Maclean

MMORPG.Com had the chance to interview Jeff Hickman & Bruce Maclean from BioWare, about Star Wars: The old republic. The article contains lots of new great info, and here is the most imortant information from the article put together by Thrives: *Both warzones and GSF will see updates, GSF in the form of new maps, new ship roles, and new ships, new Huttball arena (Quesh), will be a more vertical/three dimensional space to maneuver through. *Class combat team is very busy. *They offered the interview because of her previous article, the slightly negative F2P review posted here a few weeks ago. They disagreed, responses from player with no prior SWTOR experience were characterized as ‘generally super positive’, they have metrics to support this statement. Subscribers are their priority but they’re always looking for opportunities to improve the F2P experience. *Interviewer thought the tour stops weren’t a huge opportunity to ‘drop some…

Phoenix Community Cantina Flash-drive Contents

We know we are late with this story,  due to a misunderstanding we are posting it a few days late. But here goes. BioWare had one of there infamous  SWTOR Community Cantina’s this last weekend. At the event new info was released as well as alot of hints of what might be comming. Housing stevebelt  asked about player housing, and while the verbal answer was of the “that’s a good idea” variety, judging by his not-so-wry smile and general body language, I’d say it’s almost a certainty they are working on player housing. In his question he made a note of how ripe for CM player housing content was, and the smiling/nodding only got bigger. Based on this, I would be completely stunned if we don’t see player housing in 2014.  New Story At the Cantina they said that a new story arc would begin with the 2.7 update, and would…

Charles Boyd tweets about new voice recording for SWTOR!

2014 looks like it’s going to be a good year for SWTOR! One piece of good news after the next. This time Charles Boyd tweets about new voice recording for the game. New Article – Flashpoint: Kuat Drive Yards

Senior Designer, on Star Wars: The old Republic, Jesse Sky posted a news article on Kuar Drive Yards, last night. The article describe the new flashpoint for level 15+ players that comes with game update 2.6. This will be a new type of instance that the team is calling a Tactical Flashpoint. The main thing that distinguishes Tactical Flashpoints is that they are role-neutral – in other words, they are balanced for a combination of any four classes. This means Group Finder will match the first four players it finds, which translates into drastically shorter queue times, especially for DPS classes. I’m not sure how I feel about this yet, as I fear there will be no incentives for healing and tanking and you will only perpetuate the issue of a lack ofsupport roles in the long run. Time will tell though. Check out the full article over at the…

Sony to Shut Down Free Realm, Vanguard and Clone Wars

Sony Online Entertainment announced that they be closing down four ongoing MMORPGs: Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures, Free Realms, Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, and Wizardry Online. Free Realms and Clone Wars Adventures servers will shut down on March 31, while Vanguard and Wizardry servers will stop on July 31 Lack of interest is the reason for the Free Realms, Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures and Vanguard: Saga of Heroes closures. A Sony representative told Kotaku that all three no longer have the pull they once did. The player population has been decreasing over the years, and it’s just a case of these things happening. However, Sony did not offer a reason for the shutting down of Wizardry Online, though I wouldn’t be surprised if it was for similar reasons. Wizardry isn’t exactly the most popular series around. Michele Cagle wrote in a statement: At Sony Online Entertainment, we are always evaluating our portfolio to ensure…
