R2-KT: The Heartwarming Legacy of a Star Wars Droid Born from Love and Loss

R2-KT’s story is a profound testament to the power of love, community, and storytelling. Born from a father’s desire to comfort his daughter in her final days, this pink droid has become a symbol of hope and kindness within the Star Wars universe and beyond. The Origin of R2-KT: A Father’s Love The story of R2-KT begins with a little girl named Katie Johnson, who, in 2004, was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. Katie was not just any fan of Star Wars; she was born into a family where the galaxy far, far away was a part of their daily lives. Her father, Albin Johnson, was one of the founders of the 501st Legion, a global organization of Star Wars enthusiasts known for their high-quality costume recreations and charity work. Facing the heart-wrenching reality that Katie had only a few months to live, Albin sought a unique way to…

Sith to Scare You this Halloween

Halloween is coming and for those of us who are big fans of the holiday (me, me, me), all of October is a time to celebrate. We get the spooky groove going as early as October 1st in my house. And since we’re also all Star Wars fans, it’s great when the two worlds can overlap. Starwars.com brings you 6 Sith to Scare You Silly this Halloween Season. I don’t know about being scared silly, but I was very curious to see who they put on their list. So, let’s take a look at who they put on their list: Darth Bane Darth Maul Lord Momin Darth Plagueis Darth Sidious Darth Vader Who do you think is the scariest Sith of them all? Where is your favorite on the list? If you want to see all the reasons StarWars.com writer Kelly Knox ranked them this way, check out her full…

Star Wars Halloween Costumes 2020

*This post may contain affiliate links 2020 has been an unusual year and in many parts of the world the Covid-19 pandemic is still keeping people indoors. If you can’t go trick or treating or to your favorite Halloween parties, you can still enjoy the holiday by dressing up. There are many alternative celebration ideas such as Zoom parties or online Halloween costume contests, to name a few. Others are choosing for smaller get-togethers, or outdoor events where they can still practice social distancing. Whatever your plans are, you can do it in Star Wars style if you choose one of these or related costumes. I’m a real sucker for cosplay and homemade costumes but not everyone has the budget, the time, or the ability to build their own. If that’s you, then I invite you to check out Amazon. If you have Prime, you can get any of these…

Cool Arcann and Vaylin Cosplay – SWTOR

Mq8HAAjl

It’s been a while since I’ve stumbled across some really awesome cosplays to share with you guys. But now we have one… and I’m telling you, it makes up for not having seen any in a while. This awesome Arcann and Vaylin is really impressive! Some have called them the most depraved siblings in Star Wars, and others have said they have the most dysfunctional family in the franchise. One thing’s for certain: they are definitely interesting! And I can see why they were chosen for this really fun cosplay. The attention to detail is fabulous. They reported they spent about a week on the armor parts and a day on the cloth parts. See the full album here: Arcana and Vaylin- Old RepublicA Arcana and Vaylin- Old Republic Arcana and Vaylin- Old Republic In addition to the great costuming and makeup, I love how they really got into the…

Great Lana Beniko Cosplay

We haven’t posted about any cosplays recently (are people still doing this?) but we just stumbled upon a good one. Here’s an awesome Lana Beniko cosplay. She’s really good – it looks exactly like her and no details were left untouched. The level of detail on everything is amazing. She has the perfect natural features to play Lana, and she gets every little detail of her costuming and hair right as well. Lana Beniko was a Human female Sith Lord of the resurgent Sith Empire. During the Galactic War against the Galactic Republic, she served as a key advisor to Dark Council member Darth Arkous. In SWTOR, she’s voiced by Lydia Leonard. “With her serene and considerate manner, one might mistake Lana Beniko for a Jedi. She is, however, a Sith Lord of great wisdom and strength who has impressed many of her peers in a considerably short period of time with…

Otakon 2016 Star Wars Photoshoot

There are many exciting things happening at Oktakon, one of my favorite conventions. However, the cosplayers are definitely one of my favorite parts. It’s so much fun to see all the cosplayers around the convention and to see the very creative ways people find to enact their favorite characters. It’s really the best of the best, and a ton of fun. Last year had a lot of great cosplay photoshoots, but there was one in particular that really stood out to me. I knew I just HAD to be at that one and it did not disappoint. One of my favorite parts of Otakon last year was the Star Wars photoshoot. The newest Star Wars movie had just released and people were seriously in the Star Wars spirit. There were people from near and far, young and old, dressed as their favorite characters from the Star Wars Universe and it…

[Cosplay] Shae Vizla by Laura Sánchez (Nebulaluben)

Star Wars – Shae Vizla by Laura Sánchez (Nebulaluben) Here is an impressive cosplay of a fantastic Star Wars character who needed a bigger role in SWTOR. I don’t know if we’ll ever see more of Vizla in SWTOR but you can see her in this great cosplay from costume maker, Laura Sanchez. She’s a video game and costume-making enthusiast and all of the costumes you can see in her gallery at Deviant Art are made by her personally. She does a really awesome job and this one is no exception. Check out the pictures here: Star Wars – Shae Vizla by Laura Sánchez (Nebulaluben) She uses a lot of craft foam techniques in her costume making and also lists some great resources over on her Deviant Art page for those who want to learn more about craft foam art and costume design. Cosplay Completed Sith Acolyte Armor Gallery

We’ve told you about how we love the SWTOR cosplay from Mynock’s Den. Here’s another great completed project. It’s a very detailed Sith Acolyte armor and it’s absolutely perfect. “The following photos were taken at the Comic Con in Winnipeg. The V2 Sith Acolyte armor is upgraded with a full Sith Acolyte Helmet, and the new V2 chest plate. The beautiful thing about the new setup is that since the Acolytes were shown without their hoods in the new cinematic trailer “Sacrifice”, and since I completed an accurate back plate for the helmet, I was able to wear the costume without the hood! Having the hood off really cut down on heat retention, allowing me to wear the helmet pretty much the entire time I was at the con!” See more on his site. He also has a bunch more great photos from around the con of him as well as other attendees…

SWTOR Arcann Mask Cosplay

We’ve told you before about cool SWTOR projects from myknocksden.com and now we have another one to share. This is a SWTOR Arcann mask cosplay/prop and it’s awesome, just like all of his work. The best part is, he will tell you exactly how he did it. “Being the dedicated SWTOR fan that I am, the minute the new trailer “Sacrifice” was announced in June of 2015, I knew I had to make Arcann’s mask. As with everything, it all began in the digital realm with some curves and plain surfaces, fuelled by a lot of energy drinks. The mask is quite complex, so even with great reference material, modelling in Rhino took close to 30 hours. ” See all of the digital plans here, along with step-by-step directions on how he did it. Then he will move into explaining and showing you in pictures how he created the base for his mask…

It comes to us from MYNOCKSDEN.COM, an active and talented cosplayer and prop-maker who “encourages aspiring prop-makers to awaken their own inner awesomeness!” Taras has been building props and costumes since he was a child and even back then, his work was pretty impressive. Now, it’s on an entirely new level. Here you can see videos from his Facebook account that showcase the process. The captions are below so you can see what he said about each phase while making this great Jedi armor. It’s really impressive, movie-level stuff here. Here we have Starkiller from The Force Unleashed: Starkiller I really love that this one has so many pictures and includes photos from the process and not just the completion. While the end product is great, it’s also fun and interesting to see how people make their costumes and cosplay parts. The creator says it was his first cosplay and I have to say, it’s very good quality for that. He was very creative with the materials and how he chose to use them. He also gives some tips about making cosplay costumes to the 501st or Rebel Legion standards. It will make it easier for you, which is something I have heard from a lot of other cosplayers…

Sith Lord from Star Wars the Old Republic Cosplay

We love cosplay here, as you know. It’s even better when it’s SWTOR cosplay. Here’s a great cosplay from player, alkexor, with pics from Comic Con showing off his Sith Lord. He made many of his parts from things around the house, even a plastic trash can went into this cosplay.  If you’re wondering about the lightsaber, he bought it from Saberforge (a popular choice with Star Wars cosplayers). His exactly one is found here: http://saberforge.com/elite-sabers/reliant-saber Here are some photos from Comic Con Gamex Stockholm. Havok Trooper Cosplay by LazyAardvark

You know how we love to bring you fan-created stuff and cosplay. (I live for reporting on these things!) So here’s another we adore. A SWTOR fan named LazyAardvark posted a great Havok Trooper cosplay that we really wanted to share with you. He says he’s been working on it for a few months and we can definitely see why. This armor is so realistic, it looks like it should be on the set of a movie. One thing we really liked was the worn, battled look it has. LazyAardvark explains how this was achieved: “The battleworn look was done with pastel chalk and a magic wash which comprised of acryllic paint, floor polish, and water, i also did some low lighting in the recesses to make the details pop out.” We think This is pretty awesome! It’s amazing to see what serious fans can and do come up with….

NYCC Community Cantina and Cosplay Contest

The time has come for another SWTOR Community Cantina, the last on the calendar for 2015.  This time the Cantina lines up with New York Comic Con and there was a decent turnout at the Hard Rock Cafe. When I arrived around 6:20, there was already a line forming outside the building. They got the cosplayers inside early and the rest of us promptly at 7pm. We were given tickets for free drinks and our other goodies and Hard Rock staff were walking around with some good food (great for those who had just come over from NY Comic Con and also for those of us standing around in line awaiting entry.) As always, the staff are super friendly and always around to chat and answer questions. They’re a lot of fun to hang with and in addition to the cosplay contest and the Q&A, they made sure to mingle…

Satele Shan by Saphira Cosplay

Satele Shan cosplay

You know how we love cosplayers around here, especially SWTOR or Star Wars cosplayers. So this is why we are excited to bring you this one of Satele Shan, a personal favorite of mine actually. Saphira is more than a pretty face; she’s incredibly talented too, which you can see from her Facebook page (linked below). The teamwork between Saphira and photographer for this shot really shines through in the end result. We love it and we’d love to see more! The cosplayer herself, Saphira, left this comment explaining the lightsabers: i built the sabers from scratch XD they have 5000 lumens in the blades, so they light up for real. i got the build process in my page (facebook.com/saphiracosplay). They are also two sabers that can be united to form her saberstaff, her most used weapon, and the blades are clear blue acrylic that can also be detached for…

Handmade Revan Armor by Fan

Revan Armor

We love when fans share the awesome Star Wars and SWTOR-themed projects they do so we were happy to see this one from JigabooFriday on Reddit. He did an amazing job! The handmade Revan armor is superb but of course, hardcore fans couldn’t have it in that dreamy bedroom backdrop so some took the liberty of editing his photos to give cool captains and/or scenes in the background, which of course, makes it even more fun. I admit what’s really missing is how he did it. I would love to see him take the time to type up an instructional piece so those of us at home can follow suit. Even better, if you’re thinking of doing something like this, take some pictures or video for us along the way and show us exactly how it’s done. Then be sure to message us here and we’ll even feature you in a story….
