The Guild Sphere: KAempire

This week I sat down with Keyaindis and Semyaza from KAempire, a newer Sith guild looking to master all aspects of of Star Wars: The Old Republic.

Where did your guilds name come from?
When we (Keyaindis and Semyaza) first looked at SWTOR we instantly wanted to create a guild, at the
time the movie Kick Ass was on, and the idea just popped up.
Can you give me a quick 2-3 sentance description of your guild?
After spending the last 5 years playing in guilds in World of Warcraft that have failed to meet the
standards of a “decent” guild (not implying that all guilds in wow were a failure just the ones we’ve seen), we feel that KAempire should be entertaining and maintain a balance of gameplay, as well as organization of events which was a re-occurring problem in wow. We also feel that the pressure of having hardcore players constantly yelling at you if you make a mistake should be avoided as much as possible.
How did your guild come about?
We were a part of many guilds in many games such as World of Warcraft, Perfect World International, Cabal, and recently Rift. As pessimistic as this sounds, the guilds that we were in were inadequate in many ways (again not all guilds in these games were horrible just the ones we witnessed) we figured that we should make a guild that fixed many of the errors that we saw in previous guilds.
What kind of play style do you focus on? PvE, PvP, RP?
KAempire will be focusing on maintaining a balance of PvP and PvE based on our guilds viewpoint and experiences.
What is your guild set up? How do you run your guild?
In KAempire, Semyaza and I work together to make decisions in the guild, this is the most plausible choice when it comes to the balance of power. We decided that when it comes to administrative choices, there should be an opposition to the person creating a rule or making a decision to prevent a bad decision from being set in motion, if we are at a conflict where we can’t decide, then we will take this to one of the members next in the hierarchy.
How serious do you play and/or run the guild?
We feel that there needs to be maturity among the players but we don’t want to have it to the point where people get so serious the game is not fun anymore.
Do you have ranks or a certain hierarchy in your guild? If yes, could you tell us a bit about it?
Yes, our ranks will go up starting from acolyte; the amount/name of ranks will be contingent upon what Bioware has in store for the guild system. For example wow allows multiple ranks so we are waiting to see what Bioware will implement in the guild system.
Why did you choose the Sith?
Well in most of games, you are forced to play the good guys, and that’s cool and all but it gets boring when you are forced to let that pathetic wimp live. SWTOR is giving us the choice to play a bad ass character where you can chose to kill that wimp instead and we are very excited about it (Jedi are just garbage.J)
Why do you run a guild?
We created a guild to create a fun gaming environment that provides a balance in PvP, and PvE while having the most fun possible.
How do you approach Raid Planning?
Due to the inadequate amount of information on the subject of raids, a true raiding system cannot be fully thought out, but we have a blue print of the process which involves a strategic officer creating a raid plan for based on the statistics of the guilds, also we will group players based on their experience as well as their capability to complete the raid. To avoid conflicts, we will try to avoid grouping up players that do not get along well together in a raid.
Are you always open for new recruits or do you want to keep a certain guild size?
We are currently open to all recruits but our current goal is 50 members (the number is contingent upon how many we currently have).
Age Requirement?
Our current age requirement will be roughly 14+, however there is a maturity factor involved. If there is someone who is younger than that but is very mature, we may invite them to see how it plays out, or if we get someone who is like 14, 15, 16 etc. If they act very immature then they will not be welcomed in our guild.
Guild size?
KAempire is a brand new guild, and currently have four members but hey, all guilds have to start somewhere.
What makes your guild stand out from everyone else? What makes your guild unique?
KAempire is a guild that likes to balance out the PvP, and PvE sides of the game to create a fun gaming environment for everyone, as well as our organizational skills when it comes to events. Many guilds will try to instantly create raids within a 2 day notice of the actual event which creates a lot of confusion.
Our organization and understanding of the necessity of balance in PvP and PvE will create a fun guild which I’m sure a lot of people will enjoy.
How do you spend your time until release? Do you know each other in real life or do you spend a lot of time on forums?
Currently we are working on creating a Minecraft server you can check it out at http://
climaxx.forumotion.com
What Other Games are you currently playing as a guild?
We owned guilds in PWI, Rift, and Wow but currently do not play any of those games any longer.
Guild systems in other MMOs? (Likes/Dislikes)
In WoW we really enjoyed stuff in the new guild options like how you can place an authenticator on a certain rank to prevent that character from being hacked and destroying the guild bank.
If somebody is interested now how and where can they apply for membership?
If anyone would like to apply to our guild you can apply at http://www.swtor.com/guilds/79856/kaempire
One last question, if there was one thing you could ask the Dev’s to include, what would it be?
If we could ask anything of the devs we both agreed that something along the lines of guild starships where the guild can get together and plan out goals or get things set up would be an awesome idea.
Thanks guys for taking the time to answer some of my questions.
