EA’s canceled Star Wars game, known as “Project Ragtag” around the industry, seemed to be the setup for the perfect game. It was to be a single-player adventure set in the Star Wars universe, led by Amy Hennig, the mastermind behind Uncharted and the Jak and Daxter franchises. So what went wrong? Well, that’s a very good question. The game went into development in 2013 but was canceled in 2017 and the studio developing it was shuttered. EA is working on a new Star Wars game. For those who don’t know, EA has partnered with Disney to have exclusive rights to the Star Wars license until 2023. This means they are the only studio who can make Star Wars games at this time. Some fans aren’t happy about that, but it is what it is and we can’t really do anything to change that. So for now, at least, we have to work with what we’re given and that means embracing EAs role in all of this. The official launch of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is right around the corner, yet EA has already alluded to the fact that they’re planning to drop yet another Star Wars title in 2022. Senior Analyst Daniel Ahmad of Niko Partners, one of the largest players in the Asian gaming market, pulled the leak straight from a recent earnings call from EA itself. The project is currently unannounced and unnamed, but is tentatively set to hit the market sometime in late 2022.
