Insider Look at the Cancelled Darth Maul Game

A game starring Darth Maul, the popular Sith Lord who debuted in Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace… it sounded fantastic. So what happened? Many fans were left disappointed to hear that the Darth Maul Star Wars game would never be. Austin-based developer Red Fly Studio wanted to give a new experience and perspective to the Star Wars story. They wanted to show a dark coming-of-age tale, where players would witness and experience Maul as a young boy being forced into the Sith hierarchy. “We wanted people to see him as a kid kidnapped by emperor Palpatine and tortured – physically, mentally, and emotionally – becoming this powerful Sith Lord,” says a developer who worked on the project but wishes to remain anonymous. “You got angry, you got frustrated, and you made the same mistakes he did. No one has ever seen Sith training up close. No one has ever seen…

Yoda could have been the main character in the force unleashed 2

When The Force Unleashed 2 brought back the character that is Starkiller, most fans were confused, even more so when the story turned out to be quite short. This story was not always the plan and the original ideas for the game would have had new characters and a completely different story. When a writer for Cinelinx had a conversation with the former LucasArts creative director, Haden Blackman, they became enlightened. The ending to the first Force Unleashed game, we saw Starkiller kill himself on Death Star during the battle against Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine. His sacrifice allowed his friends to have a chance to escape and they went on to become the Rebellion as we know it today, until this was wiped out by the new canon. Once LucasArts let everyone know that Starkiller would be coming back for the sequel, many fans where very confused. The game…

SWTOR Mount Flourish coming soon

BioWare will be adding a new feature called Mount Flourish. This feature will only affect the moutns that will be released in the future, and not existing ones. Mount Flourish | 02.12.2015, 05:37 PM Hey folks, As Tait alluded to, we have a PTS patch coming today at 1:30PM CST. I am posting to let you know about a new keybinding that you may find and what it means. Under keybinds, and movement, you will find that CTRL+Z is now bound to something called Mount Flourish. What this does, is upon using that binding it will have a special effect on some mounts. Think of it kind of akin to holstering your weapon, or using /special. This will not affect any existing mounts, it is going into the game to affect some mounts coming out in the future. We will have more information around those when they are closer to…

Will Vader Be Returning in Episode VII?

One of the stranger rumors that’s been making its way around the internet lately is that Darth Vader will return—in some form or another—in Episode VII. While that may sound ridiculous at first, a few people have made some interesting arguments, and they could be supported by some evidence that we’ve seen. Let’s take a look. Some of the Vader-returning theories center on Kylo Ren, the Sith that we’ve seen in the trailer; he’s the one with the much-discussed red lightsaber (or at least that’s what we assume so far—we know he’s a villain). Some of the speculation of Vader’s return is almost certainly a result of Ren’s helmet, which bears an undeniable resemblance to the Dark Lord’s: This has led a few people on Reddit to speculate that Ren somehow personifies or channels Darth Vader; it’s also been suggested that this actually was Vader’s helmet, and that Ren has stolen…

More Episode VII Rumors/Spoilers Surface

Despite the secrecy surrounding the newest Star Wars movie currently in production, various details regarding its plot, title, character distribution and the props used in it, keep surfacing. At this pace, by the time the finished product actually hits the big screen, people will know the entire storyline and they’ll just show up to see how the director actually pulled things off. For one thing: Episode VII actually has a title now. It’s called “The Force Awakens” – a wonderfully Star Wars-y title indeed, which is a great throwback that manages to avoid being similar to past titles in the series. We kept hearing that Episode VII was going to be an extension of the original trilogy and its title really does come to confirm that. The announcement was made by Disney with surprisingly little fanfare, considering the high-profile nature of the project. In other Episode VII spoiler news: a…

SWToRStrategies: Wall of Crazy (WoC) is the latest column that aspires to look into certain concepts and ideas that could make into our favorite game. Commando/Mercenary Top 3 Answers

Eric Musco started a new “top 3 Answers” thread on the official forums. This time about Commando/Mercenary. Here is a Summary made by bstr413: 1: Sustained DPS for Gunnery Assault. Gunnery/Assault will get a (small) boost to its sustained damage after all AC’s have at least 1 good sustained damage spec. (Commando/Mercs have Assault Specialist/Pyrotech already.) Devs are looking for feedback on how to do this. Being able to heal should not decrease DPS. Many off-healer DPS specs are able to do great sustained DPS. 2: Defense in PvP. No new “emergency defense” move for Commandos/Mercs. Instead, current defensive moves will be improved. Devs are asking for inputs on how this should be done. Devs are looking to make Commandos/Mercs better in Ranked Arenas. 3: Assault Specialist / Pyrotech suggestions. Thank you for your suggestions for changing Assault Specialist / Pyrotech. We do not want to do the first few due to the…

Phoenix Community Cantina Flash-drive Contents

We know we are late with this story,  due to a misunderstanding we are posting it a few days late. But here goes. BioWare had one of there infamous  SWTOR Community Cantina’s this last weekend. At the event new info was released as well as alot of hints of what might be comming. Housing stevebelt  asked about player housing, and while the verbal answer was of the “that’s a good idea” variety, judging by his not-so-wry smile and general body language, I’d say it’s almost a certainty they are working on player housing. In his question he made a note of how ripe for CM player housing content was, and the smiling/nodding only got bigger. Based on this, I would be completely stunned if we don’t see player housing in 2014.  New Story At the Cantina they said that a new story arc would begin with the 2.7 update, and would…

MMO Boys Heat Up SWTOR and Other MMOs

If you’re looking for some spice to your night, or just some good-natured adult fun, you might want to check out MMO Boys. But first be warned: This site is NOT safe for work. Don’t open it with children in the room either. This Tumblr features male MMO characters in skimpy armor, undies and sometimes nothing at all. The featured picture here with this post is one of the tamer images on the blog. They have many SWTOR characters but also screenies from other MMOs like Saints Row, Skyrim, There’s also a Guild Boy Calendar. Nope, I’m not kidding… These photo manipulations are actually pretty darn good quality and some of them are downright funny (I mean, if you can’t have a giggle at cartoon video game penises, you’re not human, right?) but I have to applaud the talent and creativity involved as well. He also takes requests and there…
