In addition to the usual game modes of most Battlefront games, some fans are looking for some new games modes with a Star Wars theme for the newest installment of Star Wars: Battlefront. Tom from Battlefront News created a great video with his ideas for potential game modes. We have some Wookiee love, a Bounty Hunter mode and of course, Armada. He explains each game mode, how it works and how it would be played, complete with the objectives breakdown.
Star Wars Battlefront
No Clone Wars in Star Wars: Battlefront (for Now)
We’ve been keeping an eye on the development of DICE’s much-hyped Star Wars: Battlefront ever since the first few crumbs of information surfaced in this respect and it has been becoming increasingly clear that the game – which is indeed shaping up as a truly monumental and epic effort – will only cover a small part of the Star Wars universe, namely the original trilogy and its locations. While this is by no means bad news, it does mean that there will probably be no Clone Wars lore elements in the game. The Clone Wars era earned no mentioning in the impressive E3 trailer presented by the developer, the locations the team has scouted and the LucasFilm museum that the visited this summer are also indicative of an original trilogy-only focus. If anything, for the fans of the series, those awaiting the release of the title with bated breath, this…
Will Star Wars: Battlefront Be the Best Star Wars Game Ever?
There’s a lot of talk about Star Wars: Battlefront as the game gets closer to completion. Fans are anxious for another Star Wars game and at this point, just publishing and shipping a game with a Star Wars theme would be better than how other expected Star Wars titles have worked out recently. DICE wants to do more than just make a game, however. They want to create the “best Star Wars game ever. That’s a big undertaking, depending on who you ask. However, developer DICE has a strong vision for Battlefront and they spoke with MCV about what they wanted to do with the game. “Historically DICE hasn’t worked on licenses that are not our own,” according to Battlefield studio’s general manager Karl-Magnus Troedsson. “So this is different for us. If someone came to us with another licence then we’d probably say no, but, in this case, Star Wars has a…
Star Wars Battlefront Could Be First DICE Game To Have Space Battles
JediNews reports: The September issue of the Official Xbox Magazine has a brief article on page 39 that suggests a potential first for developer DICE with their highly anticipated upcoming Star Wars Battlefont title. Click the image above for a larger view to check it out.
Star Wars Battlefront: to Tie in or Not to Tie in With Episode VII?
Lately, there has been some speculation in regards to whether or not DICE’s much-hyped upcoming Star Wars: Battlefront – a title already sweating under the burden of the expectations of the community – will in any significant way be tied in to Episode VII, the upcoming movie of the Star Wars franchise, just as hotly expected, and probably even more pressured by outlandish fan expectations, and officials linked to the project have done a poor job at bringing any sort of clarity to the debate, to say the least. DICE’s Patrick Soderlund had the following to say about the release date of the game “Obviously there will be things in there that are somewhat tied to the new movie. I wouldn’t say that we have a particular tie to the movie. Now, obviously we would prefer to be close to the movie, but I wouldn’t say that we’re directly tied…
Star Wars Battlefront Not to Tie in to Episode VII
Since the announcement of the next Star Wars Battlefront game, many have been wondering if it will tie in to Episode VII and in what ways. We now have a new report Star Wars Underworld has this to say: Executive Vice President of EA Studios Patrick Soderlund recently spoke about how the game may or may not be connected the the upcoming film: “We’ve shown parts of the game to date. You know what were building is more rooted in the traditional Star Wars universe, not so much linked to the movie being made.” He continues, “We wanted to make a game that celebrates the history of Star Wars. We don’t have a particular tie to the movie, but obviously we would prefer to launch Battlefront sometime close to when the movie launches,” This is not a definite shut down of the idea but it looks like we won’t be seeing any maps, characters…
Star Wars Community Buzzing, Churning Out Wild Battlefront Ideas
The E3 trailer of Star Wars: Battlefront, presented by DICE – which we have referenced countless times on these pages – gave the populous Star Wars community but a minute taste of what could be achieved through the engine used by the developer, but it was more than enough to give wings to the imaginations of those who can hardly wait to get their hands on the working title. Indeed, from the handful of scenes released through the trailer, it was obvious that great things should be expected from the game, so in this piece, we’ll take a look at some of the ideas inspired by the first Battlefront performance of the Frostbite engine. A couple of the most popular such ideas are about the Death Star and the Super Star Destroyer being featured as locations in the game. The Death Star and its eventual destruction have thus far been…
Star Wars Battlefront: A New Era?
While there is little information coming out about Star Wars Battlefront and we are excited here, especially since it’s been nearly 10 years since the last release. Fans have been clamoring for any information at all about the release of the sequel. When the news of Star Wars: Battlefront 3’s cancellation hit and fans were let down, only to find out about an upcoming DICE interpretation of the franchise, it meant a rocky road for fans. So many ups and downs. Would this one see the light of day? Would it be a let down? When it comes to the Star Wars franchise, fans have seen a few adaptations now and just like people are worrying about the new films, there are those who were not fans of the previous series of prequels. I mean, how many people were disappointed in The Phantom Menace? For many, the hype was too…
Star Wars: Battlefront – Release Date Already Pushed Back?
Shortly after the E3 trailer of Star Wars: Battlefront was shown, people began speculating a possible release date for the title. A commonly floated time-frame was the first quarter of 2015, placing the game’s release within striking distance of Star Wars: Episode 7, something which – as I have said before – would indeed make perfect sense from a marketing angle. According to some very recent rumors however, it now looks like a more likely release time-frame for the much awaited title is late 2015/early 2016. While these are indeed just rumors and nothing has been confirmed by DICE in this respect, and while such a push-back of the release date definitely pains die-hard fans of the Star Wars universe, there may unfortunately be some solid reasoning behind it all. While development has indeed begun as evidenced by the above-said E3 trailer, it may already be running late, given how…
Star Wars: Battlefront – More Details Emerge from DICE
DICE’s 2014 E3 Star Wars: Battlefront trailer was definitely enlightening and promising if somewhat stingy detail-wise, but the way it ended, with the “Spring 2015” tag, was somewhat disheartening for true fans, because that didn’t just push the likely release date into the way-too-distant future, it also sort of closed the curtains on the deal, as if saying no other details concerning the much worked-on and hyped masterpiece would be released anytime soon. Since then though, the team has apparently delved into development and with that came a new willingness to share behind-the-scenes bits of information. DICE General Manager Karl Magnus Troedsson gave an interview recently, and needless to say, most of the back-and-forth was focused on Star Wars: Battlefront. The team is apparently enjoying full creative freedom on the title, the development of which they once called “scary” – in a good way of course. While the expectations of…
DICE given ‘creative freedom’ with Star Wars license
DICE general manager Karl Magnus Troedsson was interviewed by CVG, regarding the upcoming Star Wars: Battlefront. Karl Magnus Troedsson told CVG of the partnership: “It’s been a good collaboration, because when you’re working on somebody else’s IP it can often turn into a bit of a challenge I bet. But that’s why this has been so positive, because the teams are working together. Check it out: “I won’t go into specifics, but what I can say is that it’s been extremely positive. We don’t feel limited in any way. We feel completely enabled within this framework. I can’t go into all the details about how that collaboration works, but what I can see is that it’s been an overwhelmingly positive experience. “The way that I would sum it up is we have one game team with a lot of experience building games, who are so passionate about Star Wars, and…
Star Wars Battlefront TRAILER ANALYSIS from E3 2014
Some very exciting Star Wars related news came out of E3 this week. Ten years ago, LucasArts and Pandemic Studios gave the world “Star Wars: Battlefront,” one of the most popular Star Wars video games ever made. A year later, LucasArts published the console-only sequel “Battlefront II.” After that, we did not see or hear a lot in the development of this game franchise. But now, we have some exciting news. At E3 2013, Electronic Arts, which currently has the rights to the Star Wars video game franchise, showed a teaser trailer for a game it titled “Star Wars: Battlefront.” The studio said very little after this and would leave us wondering what and when, this game might come to light. Recently at E3 2014, Election Arts once again teased some footage from the upcoming “Battlefront” title, although it was mostly comprised of pre-rendered cutscenes spliced with some behind-the-scenes storytelling from the DICE…
Star Wars: Battlefront, DICE Increasingly Looking Like Match Made in Heaven
For a layman, the Star Wars: Battlefront trailer presented at the 2014 E3 may have been disappointing. After all, it contained precious little in-game footage and much more of the “people dramatically entering an office” sort of thing, as one reviewer so keenly pointed out. For a true fan however, the trailer told much more than a straight hour of in-game state-of-the-art graphics frenzy would have, and it really did say what every fan out there wanted to hear: that the folks at DICE were treating this project with utmost respect and that they were aiming to make a game that they, as Star Wars fans, always wanted to play. The trailer also showcased the lengths the team went to in order to create as authentic a Star Wars experience as possible, immersing themselves into the annals of the Star Wars universe in ways only true fans would ever be…

DICE’s Star Wars: Battlefront – Something for the Fans to Really Look Forward to
Star Wars gamers and fans of the movies/universe are certainly living in exciting times these days. While they do not currently have much available to them gaming-wise, they certainly have great things to look forward to and to be excited about. There’s a lot on the horizon for fans of the cult classic, and even though it is now certain 2014 won’t bring them the fulfillment and joy only a well-put together Star Wars game of movie can deliver, 2015 looks promising, at least according to EA’s Chief Financial Officer Blake Jorgensen, who said at the annual shareholders’ meeting of the company that Star Wars: Battlefront would indeed be released during the second or third quarter of 2015. The stormy history of the title and the speculation sparked by the game’s introduction at E3 in June, 2013 (trough a ~30-second intro), don’t exactly paint a clear or even relevant picture…
Star Wars Battlefront Story To Be Official Part Of Star Wars Universe
Good news for hardcore Star Wars: Battlefront fans when it comes to the story. If you are a fan of the official lore, you will can rest easy that the Star Wars Battlefront 3 story will be an official part of the Star Wars Universe. iDigitalTimes tells us: The upcoming story for EA’s planned Star Wars: Battlefront reboot will be part of the official Star Wars canon, says Lucasfilm, but all prior games are no longer considered part of the Star Wars universe. In a recent blog post, Lucasfilm explained that the ever-popular Expanded Universe for Star Wars, which provided the setting and characters for countless novels, comics and games, are no longer considered part of the canon. According to Lucasfilm the official canon now only consists of the six Star Wars films as well as the Star Wars: The Clone Wars series. The Star Wars: Battlefront 3 release, rumored for 2015, will be tied…

Electronic Arts plans to showcase Star Wars: Battlefront, at this years E3. EA CEO Andrew Wilson broke the news during an investor call last week. In response to a request for an update on EA’s slate of Star Wars titles, Wilson said it expects to reveal more about the new Battlefront “and other new projects in development” at the annual game expo. EA announced the new Frostbite-powered Star Wars: Battlefront at last year’s E3, in the form a brief teaser trailer seemingly set on Hoth. The company expects to release the game, one of the first in its exclusive publishing agreement with Disney, next year. Other Star Wars titles are in development at EA-owned studios Visceral Games and BioWare. Star Wars: Battlefront will most likely come out around the same time the Star Wars movies start to come out, probably in the last quarter of 2015, just around the same…
Star Wars: Battlefront development has been temporarily put on hold
Apparently Electronic Arts have stopped all future projects by developer DICE, until they sort out all the issues with Battlefield 4. Apparently there is an issue with BF4, which have been leading to numerous game crashes. The developer’s decision to stop all other work to fix the problematic Battlefield 4 also extends to all future game development. Here is what IGN have on the story: “First, we want to thank the fans out there that are playing and supporting us with Battlefield 4,” they said. “We know we still have a ways to go with fixing the game — it is absolutely our No. 1 priority. “The team at DICE is working non-stop to update the game. Since Battlefield 4 China Rising expansion pack was already in the final stages of development by the time issues began with Battlefield 4, we decided to fulfill our promise to deliver it this week, but we’re…
EA is treating ‘Star Wars: Battlefront’ like a new IP
It appears that Electronic Arts are treating their newly acquired Star Wars franchise as a new IP, along with 7 other titles. To combat criticism that the firm is not working on any more new games, they released a statement about these new IPs in the works. EA Games chief Patrick Soderlund told MCV that EA is working on new ideas that include Star Wars and Mirror’s Edge 2 as proof the firm is still willing to take risks on new ideas. As he says to MCV: “We are working on a new Mirror’s Edge game, and although that’s not a new IP, it is a revival done in a new way. We are developing Star Wars Battlefront, which to us is a new IP, even though it isn’t technically,” he said. “We have six to eight completely new IPs in the works. The day we stop making new IP…
Star Wars: Battlefront is likely to come out in 2015
Star Wars: Battlefront 3 release date news has been hard to come by lately. This is off course mainly because the game is still in heavy development. According to Electronic Arts Chief Financial Officer Blake Jorgensen, speaking at EA’s investors meeting the other day, the targeted release date for Star Wars: Battlefront is “most likely” in summer 2015 for the most obvious reason that it’s when Star Wars: Episode VII will be hitting theaters and relaunching the film franchise. Star Wars: Battlefront is DICE LA‘s very first big project, following some light work on polishing up Battlefield 4. It’s also the first step in a multi-year deal recently sealed between EA and Disney, giving the publisher exclusive rights to develop games for the Star Wars franchise. DICE’s ‘Star Wars: Battlefront’ marks the first entry in the series since 2009′s ‘Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron’, and the first console release in…
DICE Working on Battlefront Almost Didn’t Happen
We’re excited about DICE working on Star Wars: Battlefront, as we wrote about recently but can you believe it almost didn’t happen? While they seem like the perfect choice for this project, it’s a deal that almost didn’t happen. We’re glad to see DICE on the job because they are meticulous and great at what they do. We definitely have high hopes they will do very well with Battlefront. In Computer and Video Games, we have a great interview with EA’s Patrick Sderlund. Here is the really interesting part: So one of your big surprises was DICE working on the new Star Wars: Battlefront. As you said, that’s pretty much a match made in heaven for fans… but those sorts of dream collaborations don’t happen often. I’m glad you say that because it was almost not happening. It was just something as boring as resources and availability. The DICE guys…
EA Tells Us Why DICE is Perfect for Battlefront
We recently got word that EA would be bringing DICE onto the team for Star Wars: Battlefront. There was not a lot of information given at first about the game, why they chose DICE or what we could all expect. But they’ve now spoken with IGN about it and we have some more info. “EA has commented on why DICE is a great fit for Star Wars: Battlefront. Speaking to IGN during an interview at E3, EA Labels president Frank Gibeau explained that the studio’s experience with Battlefield gives them a unique set of skills perfectly attuned to taking on Star Wars.” IGN has the full story but basically Gibeau tells us why DICE has proven themselves to be good at what they do and a perfect choice for creating Battlefront with Frostbite tech. EA believes that DICE will bring the creative and technical abilities needed to succeed on a…
