SWTOR Galactic Starfighter: Engine Components Comparisons Guide

Galactic Starfighter

Understanding the different engine components will help you understand your ship’s engines better. The more you know about the engines, the better you can prepare for battle because you know what your ship is capable of doing. This guide is designed to give you a basic idea of what each of the Galactic Starfighter Ships engines are capable of, to help you decide which ones suit your gaming style the best. It focuses on the default engine components.

Engine Maneuvers

Engines have different abilities that determine which maneuvers they’re capable of performing. In this section, you’ll learn which maneuvers each ship has and what it does along with the upgrade options for each one.

The Rycer & Starguard, the Sting & Flashfire, the Ocula & Skybolt and the Gladiator & Enforcer all have Koiogran Turn as the default maneuver. This maneuver allows you to make a vertical 180-degree turn, it increases evasion 30 percent for 3 seconds and when activated, it evades lock-on missiles. It uses a collection of high-powered maneuvering thrusters to perform the move allowing you to turn around and face or pursue your enemy very quickly without losing any speed.

The 3 tier upgrades are as followers:

  • Tier 1- Cost 1,000 ship requisitions- the power cost to active maneuver is reduced by 15
  • Tier 2– Cost 2,500 ship requisitions- reduces cooldown time by 5 seconds
  • Tier 3- Cost 10,000 ship requisitions- increases the turning rate of the ship and engine speed by 10 percent

The Quell & Pike, the Blackbolt & NovaDive and the Mangler & Quarrel all have Barrel Roll as the default maneuver. This maneuver allows you to roll the ship 360 degrees in a forward position. When activated, it makes it possible for you to evade lock-on missiles and it will increase evasion by 30 percent for 3 seconds from weapons being fired directly at you.

The 3 tier upgrades are as follows:

  • Tier 1– Cost 1,000 ship requisitions- the power cost to active maneuver is reduced by 15
  • Tier 2– Cost 2,500 ship requisitions- reduces cooldown time by 5 seconds
  • Tier 3– Cost 10,000 ship requisitions- increases the turning rate of the ship and engine speed by 10 percent

Thrusters Components

The thrusters allow a percentage of the ship’s engine power to be transferred to the weapon power pool when battling your enemy. The Rycer & Starguard and the Blackbolt & NovaDive have Power Thruster components as the default option. This increases the ship’s engine maximum power capacity by 8 percent.

The 3 tier upgrades are as follows:

  • Tier 1- Cost 1,000 ship requisition- increases the engine power pool by another 4 percent
  • Tier 2– Cost 1,500 ship requisition- increases the engine power pool by another 4 percent
  • Tier 3– Cost 2,500 ship requisition- increases the engine power pool by another 4 percent

The Gladiator & Enforcer and the Quell & Pike have Speed Thruster components as the default option. This increases the maximum engine speed by 4 percent. You can use speed thrusters within or outside of the planetary atmospheres.

The 3 tier upgrades are as follows:

  • Tier 1– Cost 1,000 ship requisition- increases the speed of the engines by another 2 percent
  • Tier 2– Cost 1,500 ship requisition- increases the speed of the engines by another 2 percent
  • Tier 3– Cost 2,500 ship requisition- increases the speed of the engines by another 2 percent

Sting & Flashfire and the Ocula & Skybolt have the Regeneration Thruster components as the default option. This increases the engine’s power regeneration rate and the power recently consumed regeneration rate by 8 percent. This is possible because the thrusters are allowed to draw energy for the ship by taking in stray radiation particles.

The 3 tier upgrades are as follows:

  • Tier 1– Cost 1,000 ship requisitions- increases engine power pool regeneration by another 4 percent
  • Tier 2– Cost 1,500 ship requisitions- increases engine power pool regeneration by another 4 percent
  • Tier 3– Cost 2,500 ship requisitions- increases engine power pool regeneration by another 4 percent

Mangler & Quarrel do not have default thrusters components.

Capacitor Components for Weapons

The Rycer & Starguard, the Gladiator & Enforcer, the Quell & Pike and the Blackbolt & NovaDive all have the range capacitor as the default option. This uses improved field stabilization technology along with precision targeting algorithms to increase your ship’s primary weapon range by 4 percent at any range.

The 3 tier upgrades are as follows:

  • Tier 1- Cost 1,000 ship requisitions- increases primary weapon range by another 2 percent
  • Tier 2– Cost 1,500 ship requisitions- increases primary weapon range by another 2 percent
  • Tier 3– Cost 2,500 ship requisitions- increases primary weapon range by another 2 percent

The Sting & Flashfire and the Ocula & Skybolt have the damage capacitor as the default option. Its main function is to give the energy output a boost. As a bonus, it also increases the damage caused by the ship’s primary weapons by 4 percent. It’s a great option when your tactical plans include striking fast and hard.

The 3 tier upgrades are as follows:

  • Tier 1– Cost 1,000 ship requisitions- increases primary weapon damage by another 2 percent
  • Tier 2– Cost 1,500 ship requisitions- increases primary weapon damage by another 2 percent
  • Tier 3– Cost 2,500 ship requisitions- increases primary weapon damage by another 2 percent

The Mangler & Quarrel do not have default weapon capacity components.

Shield Reactor Components

The Rycer & Starguard, the Gladiator & Enforcer, the Sting & Flashfire and the Ocula & Skybolt have the Turbo Reactor component as the default option. All shield systems have a delay before they can recharge after being damaged. Turbo reactor components utilize conductive materials to reduce the shield’s power regeneration delay by 24 percent, so your shields can begin recharging faster.

The 3 tier upgrades are as follows:

  • Tier 1– Cost 1,000 ship requisition- decreases the delay for shield regeneration by another 12 percent
  • Tier 2– Cost 1,500 ship requisition- decreases the delay for shield regeneration by another 12 percent
  • Tier 3– Cost 2,500 ship requisition- decreases the delay for shield regeneration by another 12 percent

The Mangler & Quarrel have the Regeneration Reactor component as the default option. This shield converts the reactor fuel more efficiently, which increases both the shield’s power regen rate and the recently consumed regeneration rate by 8 percent.

The 3 tier upgrades are as follows:

  • Tier 1– Cost 1,000 ship requisition- increases the shield power regeneration rate by another 4 percent
  • Tier 2– Cost 1,500 ship requisition- increases the shield power regeneration rate by another 4 percent
  • Tier 3– Cost 2,500 ship requisition- increases the shield power regeneration rate by another 4 percent

The Quell & Pike and the Blackbolt & NovaDive do not have default reactor components.
