Star Wars: Rey’s Origin Story – A Fan Film

We love fan films here. If you’ve been following our site for any amount of time now, you know how much I love to write about Star Wars fan films. There is just something wonderful about them – even the ones that are not so great in terms of quality – that I love. They are charming, endearing, and entertaining. Every now and then, we stumble across a professional-quality fan film that ticks all those boxes and then some. Here is one such video now. Just in time for The Last Jedi, we have an original story of Rey. Want to know where she really came from? How she ended up where she is now? Here’s a fun take on Rey’s origin story that you won’t want to miss. See this video from Working with Lemons “Before there was ever a Last Jedi did you ever wondered how Rey became stuck…

The Fallen Knight – A Kylo Ren Origin Story – Star Wars Fan Film

Here we go… it’s time for another Star Wars fan film review. You guys know how much I love these. So, this one is all about Kylo Ren. This film from RZM Productions checks in at just over 22 minutes long and tells us the origin story of Kylo Ren. It has great acting, a great story, and it’s as professional as I’ve seen a fan film come (although it was well funded by the community). If you have not seen it yet, go ahead and take some time to sit down and give it a watch. You won’t be sorry. It is really a unique and fantastic story that leaves you asking more questions. It would be great to see where this same team would carry the story if they had the chance to do so. If you’re sitting around on winter break looking for a great way to pass some…

Hearts of Kyber – A Star Wars Fan-Film

You know how we love our fan films here! Honestly, it’s what holds me over in between official Star Wars movies. Some are of such great quality, you’d think they were professionally done, but even the ones that are not can still be fun to watch. I have seen pretty much every Star Wars fan film I can find and I always walk away pleased. That said, we try to bring you only the good ones here, since I know not everyone is as easily amused by this as I am. With that said, here’s another good one that’s definitely worth your time. It’s under 9 minutes long, so you can watch it on a quick break between playing Hearts online, or to unwind at the end of the day. It’s not going to take your entire evening, but it will give you some temporary entertainment. The acting is good,…

Days Past – A Star Wars Fan Film

You know how I love watching every Star Wars fan film I can find. I share some of my favorites with you here. Well, here’s one you can put on your list because I definitely have it at the top of mine. This is really a great film in and of its own right, but as a Star Wars fan, you’re going to love it. It’s very well done and for a short film (this one is under 20 minutes), it’s all the more important that you get it all right. There’s less time and more attention to detail that will be given by the viewer so it’s all the more important to get all the details straight. The acting is fantastic – seriously! I can’t say enough about how great the acting is. The plot and the story are like something right out of a book, and it will…

WHATEVER HAPPENED TO MACE WINDU? (A Star Wars Fan Film)

Sometime after the fallout of “Revenge of the Sith” and before the events of “Rogue One”, Mace Windu found his way to a desert planet with no name, where he prepares his counter-strike against the Galactic Empire and his nemesis- Darth Vader. Here’s what happens when Windu faces up against Vader. You know how we love our fan films here and this is no exception. It’s a fun little short, clocking in at just over 10 minutes and it’s well worth taking the time to give it a watch. We think you’ll find it just as entertaining as we did, especially if you happen to be a fan of Quentin Tarantino, as explained below in a note from the director. Kylo Ren: Smuggler’s Son (A Star Wars Fan Film)

Brought to you by Shattered Star Productions, here’s a short (just over 10 minutes long) fan film that we absolutely love. The story is moving, the special effects are great, and the entire production is well done. If you’re into Star Wars fan films, here’s another you’re going to want to check out. Have you ever thought about what it would be like to be a smuggler’s son? What kind of family life would a smuggler have? Honestly, the real reason many of them had no family at all is because it’s easier to fly solo than to be away from the ones who care about you. Here’s a film that touches on some of those issues. A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away… The Dark Side of the Force has a new acolyte: the young man once known as Ben Solo, but who now terrorizes the galaxy…

Outer Rim Fan Film

You know how we love our Star Wars fan films but here’s one that stretches the imagination to show us what may have been happening to some people amidst the war between the Empire and the rebellion. While the main films focus on the action and all the heroes and villains there at ground zero, here’s a fan film that shows us what some everyday people might have been doing. Truth be told, many people living on the outer edge of the galaxy probably weren’t paying all that much attention to the battles going on. They were likely just going on about their daily business. Director Thomas R. Wood brings us the story of two doofuses who weren’t all that interested in the war going on around them. It’s a fun, humorous little short that’s been called the “Dude, Where’s My Car?” of Star Wars. The two friends are working…

Countdown – A Star Wars Fan Film

Here’s another great Star Wars fan film that went above and beyond to share their story. I’ll let you watch it to see what I mean by that statement, but for now, let’s move on to the story. In a desperate attempt to save the future, Xenia travels back in time to a pivotal moment in history–the untimely assassination of Senator Desera–hoping that by saving the senator, she can change the course of history for the better. It was great story, it has action, and the fight/lightsaber scenes are great. The acting is good and the dialogue isn’t stiff like with some fan films. Costumes and props are also nicely done. All in all, it hits all the marks for what I’d say makes a great film. You can tell a lot of time and dedication went into this which is part of what I love the most about Star…

Regrets of the Past – Star Wars Fan Film

I love Star Wars fan films, something you probably already know if you’ve been following the site for any length of time. There is no shortage of these films on the internet today but some far outside the others when it comes to quality, story, and all those other things that make a great film. Here’s one that is definitely worth the watch. A lot more work went into this than what we see with short films and it shows. It’s nearly an hour long and it had more than 150 people on the crew. Many working professionals put their own spare time into this project to make it possible for us to enjoy. It’s amazing and is truly a cut above many of the others we write about and share with you here on the site. This one deserves more views. So go ahead and pop some popcorn, or…

Star Wars: From the Shadows (A Fan Film)

To what lengths will two teens go to convince their superfan friend that they lived a Star Wars adventure? This fun, cute Star Wars fan film will answer that question. Drew Struckmeyer brings us “Star Wars: From the Shadows” and it’s a fun little short that’s worth your time to give a look. What’s it all about? Well, you really need to watch it for yourself to get the full experience but let me give you a little breakdown. It’s just over seven minutes long and tells a fun narrative of one guy trying to convince his young friend that he and another friend had a real life Star Wars experience. It starts off as the two play video games and young Wyatt says he “wishes” Star Wars was real. After stating that it’s “scientifically impossible” for that to happen in real life, Drew tells him a story he just can’t believe….

Star Wars: Rise of the Empire – A Star Wars Fan Film

An empire will rise. Join the rebels in the biggest battles across the galaxy in this epic Star Wars fan film. This is a really awesome fan film from BTV that you have to see for yourself. Created entirely in GTA V using mods, this was an exhaustive creation with over 125 shots and fx, Rise of the Empire is their biggest Grand Theft Auto machinima. This is absolutely stunning! Visually it’s bright and crisp. The story and cinematography are engaging. The sound effects and music are spot-on. This film will get you excited just the way a Star Wars film should. You’ll be on the edge of your seat to see what happens next. Personally, I’m a fan of machinima already. I think it takes a lot of creativity and they can be so much fun to watch but this one goes above and beyond most I have seen. It’s clean, it’s realistic,…

Survivors – Star Wars Fan film

It seems like December 2016 was the month of the fan film and we have another one for you to check out. Survivors, from Cinemage is a film that gets right to the action and suspense from the first scene. You’ll see a chase and a lightsaber fight all within the first minute. It really gets your Star Wars blood pumping to find out what happened and why. Who are the survivors? What are they surviving? Who will win this battle? Honestly, it might leave more questions than answers once you watch it all but personally, I loved how it whets the appetite and makes you want to see more. I hope they keep writing, keep acting, and keep filming. There’s nothing like true Star Wars fans to capture the spirit of the franchise and that’s part of what makes these fan films so much fun to watch. Even when they’re not…

Star Wars: Inquisition (A Fan Film)

A rural family’s patience is tested as the Jedi padawan they’ve been hiding for years is putting their family at increasing risk. With their father dead, and their crops not selling, it’s time to decide what to do. Evil comes knocking, and one Jedi finds you can’t hide forever. A coward can’t be a hero. This Star Wars fan film from ThePsychoJellyfish is a good watch. It attempts to bring a deeper story to the Star Wars universe. It comes in just over 13 minutes so it’s a quick watch. It’s a little slow in parts and some of the acting a little stiff in places, but all in all, it’s a great story and it’s produced well. It’s unique, shows the struggles real people would have in this position, and the price that is often paid for trying to do the right thing during a time of war. What happens when…

Han Solo: A Smuggler’s Trade – A Star Wars Fan Film

Fan films and shorts are a great way to get your fix while you await the next official films. Honestly, it’s more than a guilty pleasure because some of these fan-made films hold their own against the official films. So I stumbled across this one and as a fan of Han Solo (who isn’t?), I really enjoyed it. It comes in under 15 minutes so it won’t take up a lot of your day to give it a watch and it keeps with the feel and personality of Solo that we all know and love. There’s not a lot of actors who could pull off Han Solo so well but this one definitely is impressive. He has the look, the attitude, and the entire…

Star Wars Fan film: Jar Jar’s End – An Anthology Story

Star Wars Fan Film 2016: Renegade Kenobi

Here’s another Star Wars Fan Film that we really want to share with you. In Renegade Kenobi, Ben Kenobi’s mother encounters a notorious Sith Lord who wants to change the fate of the galaxy. The story is fun and creative, the film is well done for a fan film, and it definitely has a nice Star Wars feel to it. There’s also a fun little Easter egg in there around the 21:00 marker (or a bit after). The lightsaber blade and effects are good looking and were apparently done by hand in After Effects. Sounds like it took awhile but it does look really good. So we don’t want to ruin the story for you. It’s really best that you go ahead and experience it for yourself. You can watch below, as it’s not a super long film. Of course, fans always seem to have varied opinions on these fan…
