Star Wars: Battlefront Outer Rim Expansion Arrives Today!
It is safe to say that after years of building up hype, Star Wars: Battlefront was something of a disappointment depth-wise when it was finally launched, even as it blew the expectations out of the water technically and visually. One of the strengths of the game was to depict actual movie locations in great detail, making one feel like he/she was actually involved in the Star Wars canon. That strength is apparently what the franchise is banking on going forth, as it seeks to address its oft-decried lack of depth. Outer Rim, the first expansion to the game, will look to attack the problem from several angles. Bioware on Squelch Abuse in SWTOR
Apparently some guilds in SWTOR use something called squelch abuse. The squelch system works as an anti-spamming system, that automatically revokes all chat/mail privileges for a player if someone were to send out the same message repetitively – Think credit sellers etc. This system has also been expanded to reporting spam, and apparently people are coordinating to abuse the system to report non-spammers of spamming to trigger the system to grief players they don’t like. So Den of Geek asks an interesting question in a recent post on their site: Does Episodic Content Belong in an MMORPG? If you’ve played a lot of games, one thing you will know to be true is that episodic content is not a new concept. There are many games across many genres that use this. Basically it’s chapter-based content that is staggered throughout the game and while it’s been around a long time, it’s gaining in popularity today due to certain hit games like Telltale’s The Walking Dead (a favorite of mine) and Life is Strange. Star Wars: Battlefront Hits VR With PlayStation
With the VR wars in full swing, Sony fell somewhat behind as far as spectacular and hype-filled announcements were concerned at least, but they were apparently only squaring off to release this one: it looks like there will be a Star Wars Battlefront experience coming to Sony’s PlayStation VR as a fruit of the partnership between EA and Sony and as one of the 50 games which will be available for the VR device come its October 2016 release. The announcement was made at Sony’s GDC presentation which focused on the VR headset. Now then, as the expression “Star Wars battlefront experience” clues us in, it’s not an actual game we’re looking at, rather something described as “a cinematic gaming experience” by Sony Computer Entertainment’s Andrew House. Gambling on Huttball
There are few games within SWTOR that one could bet on as easily as a good game of huttball. In fact, it almost seems as if the game was invented with that very purpose in mind. Seeing as huttball is run by the Hutts, players should be allowed to queue to watch huttball warzones and then place bets on various aspects of the game. You could place bets on things like the least deaths, most kills, most damage, most healing, most medals, winner, losing team, and more. In fact, I’m willing to bet players and spectators would think of tons of different reasons to gamble on huttball games. BioWare can’t even use story as an excuse for why this wouldn’t work because it makes perfect sense within storyline. Outer Rim DLC Price and Release Date
EA and DICE have finally confirmed some specific Star Wars Battlefront DLC release details and we know that it will cost $15 ($14.99 US) and that it will be available on March 22nd for Season Pass holders and on April 5th for everyone else. So there are the big questions out of the way. You can see it up for sale on Gamestop with the dates and pricing info now available. Mat Everett did say on Twitter that the company cannot confirm that the Gamestop release date is accurate. Eric Musco have posted some clarification on official forums regarding the lost legendary player status, that apparently have a bug. First, a reminder of what Legendary Status is. This system was put in with Knights of the Fallen Empire as a reward for players who had completed all 8 Class Stories all the way through Act 3. We wanted to make sure that their efforts were rewarded, beyond just Achievements alone. Along with the KotFE launch, we also introduced Start at 60 tokens. Unfortunately, there was a bug where sometimes a character made from a token would grant a completion for Legendary Status. If you have not seen it already, here is the first ever gameplay footage of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Unreal Engine 4 remake by Apeiron. One thing I really like that he also points out in the video is that it’s from a first person view. I love first person in games like this and I’m very glad they went in that direction with it. They did say it will also be 3rd person so for those who don’t like the first-person view, you’re good too. DARTH MAUL: Apprentice – A Star Wars Fan-Film
Here we have an awesome Star Wars fan film for you. This is a non-profit, unofficially fan film that was created just for fun but we gotta say, it’s one of the best we’ve seen so far. The running time is under 20 minutes so it’s a fairly quick watch that packs a big punch. It’s creative, well acted, has great sound and a professional quality look and feel. It also has a good story that we can really get into. If you’re a fan of Darth Maul, we really think you’ll love it.
