Mojo Games did a list of Top 10 free to play games (PC only). SWTOR was ranked 3rd on the list. We’re happy to see SWTOR still making Top lists like this. There are also some other great games on the list so if you have some free time, you may want to check them out as well (Planetside 2 and Team Fortress 2 being some of faves). Check out the full list for yourself and let us know your favorite – next to SWTOR, of course. Do you agree with the list or do you feel it’s missing something?

What’s New for Returning Players?
We like to do one of these posts every so often because we know many players come back to the game after not playing SWTOR for some time. Some even come back after not playing since beta or early launch and we all know the game has changed considerably since then. So if you’re a returning player, or thinking about returning once again to SWTOR, let’s take a look at a few things that might be new or different since the last time you played.

World First Nightmare Dread Palace Speed Run
<Zorz> Claims another world first! This is a really cool story about the first ever Nightmare Dread Palace speed run. Check out the image for proof and the stream/video is also available if you want to see exactly how they did it. If you or your guild is interested in the fights or in progressing yourself, you really should watch their videos. They are organized and have the technique down well enough to be able to pull of record-breaking feats like this. There’s definitely something for all to learn from them. That being said, they also had invested time on the PTS, seeing and practicing a lot of the content long before others ever got around to seeing it so that’s a clear advantage as well. So who is Zorz, anyway? From their website: Who Are We We are a group of like-minded players on The Harbinger who strive to play…
SWTOR Fan Picks: New Playable Races
This is a common question that comes up in MMORPG communities fairly often. Most WoW players will recall the masses asking for murlocs as a playable race for so very long. Love it or hate it, people wanted to see it. Just like people will want to be able to play wookies in a Star Wars game, there is always something that captures the attention of the players, even if it doesn’t make sense or fit with the natural lore and story. Sometimes fans just want what they want. Sometimes fans want things that don’t make any sense in the grand scheme of things. While we may not ever actually see this live in the game, it can be fun to speculate about what could be. And you never know- Bioware does listen to fan feedback, especially when it comes en masse. With the way SWTOR is growing and changing…
SWTOR Los Angeles Community Cantina Q&A Audio (Cana Rum Bar, June 2014)
We love to bring you updates from the Community Cantinas that take place in various cities across the map. There is always new and exciting fun to come out of these events and of course, we can’t forget the flash drive goodies. So the Q&A of this Community Cantina was with Eric Musco and you can find a full write-up of that here on 42gaming.com. You can also listen to the video below (audio only). Here is a snippet: Question: When will we know the rewards for Ranked PVP Season 2? Answer: “We do not like to present the rewards and requirements till at least halfway through the Season” Question: Will classes be able to use weapons that are not intended for the class, i.e Jedi using a blaster? Answer: No, one of the reasons is to allow others to identify the enemy’s class in PVP. Question: Will there be…
Sexism in Our Community?
This is a sensitive topic for many people and I can respect that. However, as a female gamer, I find it really important to address this issue. Is there still an issue in gaming today, and in our SWTOR community, with female players being harassed? I have heard stories of people quitting SWTOR due to the harassment or abuse they have suffered due to their gender, or perceived gender in the game. As always when I hear this kind of story I am angry and also sad. That being said, I’m not 100% convinced there is a real issue of sexism in the SWTOR community. Here is a common scenario: Person is playing a female toon. Perhaps a sexy Twi’lek in skimpy attire because that seems to be the norm for the female versions of characters in most video games these days. Person encounters other players, presumably male, who then…

Do you ever wish you could check in with the Galactic Trade Network while away from your PC? Well, you might be able to do exactly that here very soon. The overall design is placeholder at best and will change. Data currently shown is NOT ACTUAL DATA, this is an early preview! What’s coming before release? The ability to select a server that has available data A submission form to allow automated data submission More items…
New SWTOR Event and New Alien Species on PTS
Will we soon be seeing a new alien species in SWTOR? Data-mined info says it’s possible, although little more is known at this time. Here are some images of a potential new race (playable?) that we might see coming with a future content update that is also supposed to bring a new SWTOR event. swtor_miner explains some of what the data shows about the model, “”These new aliens fall into the Bothan semi-custom model category, and not the full-custom model Wookiee one. This means they share animations with regular humanoid species.” I agree that I don’t think this will be a playable race based on what the datamining found. Probably they will be NPC models but perhaps this shows us what the new event or some of the new content will be about. Of course, this early in the process, the whole thing could be scrapped. We can never depend…
Are Double XP Weekends Helpful to SWTOR Community?
So we talk about SWTOR Double XP weekends a lot here, for obvious reasons. But let’s consider for a moment if they are not really as good for the community as they may seem. Just for the sake of discussion, let’s look at it from another perspective. What happens during a double XP weekend? Generally, more players flock back to the game who never got around to leveling up alts. Some might bring their friends as well. Or you might even get some brand new players to the game who just want to take advantage of the opportunity to level up fast. Double XP from the event combined with any other Cartel Market boosters or guild bonuses and you can get level 20 before leaving the planet you’re on. You could get to max level in one solid weekend of playing, even if you just created the character. So this…

The job listing says you’d be working on “the customer-facing web applications and the web site” for SWTOR.
SWTOR Double XP Weekend Coming Up! 4/11 – 4/13
It’s that time again! Time for another double XP weekend in SWTOR. You may remember that there were some issues surrounding the last double XP weekend and Bioware promised us they would “make good” with another one soon. So here it is: 4/11 – 4/13 That’s next weekend so get your Mountain Dew and Hot Pockets ready because this is a great time for a gaming fest. SWTOR Community Manager Eric Musco took to the SWTOR forums to announce this and also to explain a little about the confusion that happened at the last weekend event. Here’s part of that post: “You may remember back when we ran our last double XP weekend that there were a lot of forum reports around that Kuat Drive Yards was not issuing double XP. Once we realized that, as a “make good” to the issue, we would do another double XP weekend so you can…

Eric Musco Addresses Double XP Weekend Bugs
If you tried to play SWTOR this weekend for the double XP event, you may have encountered some bugs and not gotten your double experience like you should have. Don’t worry- you are not alone and Bioware is aware of the issue. Eric Musco addresses it in the forums: I know that there was definitely some unhappiness that came out of this past double XP weekend and I wanted to address a little bit about what happened, and we are doing about it. There are two main issues which plagued the weekend: In certain group compositions, no experience is granted during a Flashpoint. The Kuat Drive Yards Flashpoint was awarding only normal experience for NPC kills, it was not being doubled. Understandably, many players look to Flashpoints to level during our double XP weekends and so there is quite a bit of frustration that these bugs were present. Let’s take…

How to Keep SWTOR Servers Loaded in 2014
Do you like having a full server of people to play with on SWTOR? Since server mergers last year, most servers are on heavy now, which is great for fans who want to have plenty of people to play with. But the new year means new games and some people worry about what this might do to SWTOR population. With many new games coming out in 2014, how can SWTOR keep the servers busy and loaded? Here are some ideas of what they could do to help keep the servers heavy: Build a new planet to explore Create an expansion and add 5 more levels to the level cap Create cross-server gameplay Explain PvP Create more Operations and harder Operations Build some minigames such as cantina games or good old-fashioned pod racing Add more ship quests/games Build a housing system or expand player ships to be more customizable like a…
SWTOR Galactic Starfighter Overview Guide
The second digital expansion for Star Wars: The Old Republic included four different classes of Galactic Starfighter ships. They are the Scout, Strike Fighters, Gunship and Bombers. This guide is designed to give you a quick overview of the Galactic Starfighter ships for each class, in order to give you a better idea of how each one operates. While it may not cover every aspect of the ships, it should provide you with enough information to help you choose the ship from each class that suits your particular style of play the best. The Scout Ships The Scout Starfighters all have strong maneuverability and speed combined with boost ability. They’re also equipped with blaster cannons and rocket pods. There are three types of scout ships for both factions. S-12 Blackbolt and NovaDive Ships The Empire S-12 Blackbolt Scout ships are fast and easy to maneuver. The sensors and communications systems…
SWTOR Meets PS4 – Cool Skin
When you love SWTOR so much you have to decorate your other gaming gear in it… this is a really cool PS4 skin/cover. This was a custom design so you won’t see this skin just anywhere and that’s one thing we love about it. We know there are going to be many crying about how SWTOR is not a console game but really, this is just a big fan of SWTOR decorating something else they also like with images from SWTOR. I say it works! It;s always great to see the many ways fans and players get creative with their art and designs, like the story of the SWTOR cell phone cover we brought you awhile back. If you’re really into SWTOR art, you might like the Fan Art section of the official SWTOR forums. There’s even a SWTOR tattoo thread, although it hasn’t really taken off much yet. You’ll…
