People love The Mandalorian. Well, they love “Baby Yoda”- that’s for sure. While The Child may have made it to mainstream audiences, Star Wars fans are really into the entire package. The Mandalorian gives us the story, the acting, the grittiness, and the Star Wars feel that many wish had been captured better in the recent latest films. Season 2 of the popular show wrapped up filming right before the Covid-19 pandemic hit the world, and soon filming will resume for Season 3. But could there be a Mandalorian movie? See this post on Variety.com for more from Pedro Pascal and Jon Favreau on the future of The Mandalorian and the potential for a movie: “The line is blurring now,” said Favreau. “Things that you would have only seen in the movie theater, you’re seeing on streaming, and I think it could go the other way as well.” Whether that…

YouTuber creates real-life ‘Star Wars’ lightsaber that slices steel
What Star Wars fan doesn’t love lightsabers? They are iconic with the franchise and in my years as a fan and a writer, I’ve seen so many lightsabers – at conventions, guild meetups, costume parties and even for Halloween – but none hold a candle to this one. It’s one-of-a-kind, at least for now. A real working plasma lightsaber. It’s expensive, it’s intricate, and this engineer did it! He and his team have been creating lightsabers for over four years now, but this is their first working plasma-based lightsaber that actually slices through steel. It’s over 3,000 degrees! And the best part? He made a video to tell and show you exactly how they did it. Be warned: you probably can’t do this at home. But it’s super cool to see how they do it! The video of him making this, which is part of his “Make it Real” series,…
Star Wars Halloween Costumes 2020
*This post may contain affiliate links 2020 has been an unusual year and in many parts of the world the Covid-19 pandemic is still keeping people indoors. If you can’t go trick or treating or to your favorite Halloween parties, you can still enjoy the holiday by dressing up. There are many alternative celebration ideas such as Zoom parties or online Halloween costume contests, to name a few. Others are choosing for smaller get-togethers, or outdoor events where they can still practice social distancing. Whatever your plans are, you can do it in Star Wars style if you choose one of these or related costumes. I’m a real sucker for cosplay and homemade costumes but not everyone has the budget, the time, or the ability to build their own. If that’s you, then I invite you to check out Amazon. If you have Prime, you can get any of these…
Creators of Vader Immortal give behind-the-scenes look at creating the VR game
Have you played Vader Immortal for the PlayStation VR yet? This is a game I was excited about, as it looks like a lot of fun. The creators of Vader Immortal are revealing more about how the VR game came together. In the game, you can step into the role of a Force-using smuggler who gets captured by Darth himself. To help celebrate the release, the game creators got together for a VR chat to discuss how this game actually came together. The discussion was released a couple of weeks ago and if you missed it, we’ll give you all the info you need to know. It featured Writer and Executive Producer David S. Goyer, Director Ben Snow, Executive Producer Mark S. Miller, and ILMxLAB Lead QA Marissa Martinez-Hoadley. They talked about their favorite moments, challenges in production and so much more. Martinez-Hoadley said the game was so immersive, she…
Star Wars Pinball Readies to Change the Game at Home
I am a HUGE fan of pinball and have been for as long as I can remember. Star War pinball games are top of my list and I try to play as many of them as I can find. Unfortunately, it’s not always as easy to find a great arcade these days. As technology changes, our video games adapt. Zen Studios has been delivering digital pinball games set in the Star Wars galaxy since 2013 and they are seeking to bridge this gap. They’ve been making Star Wars pinball games on everything from the iconic films, most popular characters, specific battles and more. They have nearly 20 different themed tables for fans to enjoy. And if you can’t find an arcade near you, they’ve also made their games available on all platforms from PC to smartphones and everything in between. With each new release, the experiences change and evolve to fit the latest…
Star Wars Squadrons: A Review
Is Star Wars: Squadrons finally the new Star Wars game we’ve all been hoping for? Since it’s release on October 2nd, reviews of the game have been quite favorable. I’ve seen little, if any, complaints from people who have played it. If anything, the complaints have been that it’s an amazing game in a limited package and fans are wondering how that will play out in the future or for expanded content of the game. Let’s take a look for ourselves. First, for those who don’t know, what is Star Wars: Squadrons? Star Wars: Squadrons is a space combat game set in the Star Wars universe developed by Motive Studios and published by Electronic Arts. It was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It has both multiplayer game modes and single-player campaigns. Squadrons allows you to play as an ace pilot for both the Empire and the…
SWG vs SWTOR – Which Is BEST in 2020?
Do you prefer SWG or SWTOR? If you’re looking for a game that allows you to immerse yourself in the Star Wars universe and roleplay while completing different objectives, which one should you pick? In this video, Napyet will breakdown the major differences between SWG (Star Wars Galaxies) & SWTOR (Star Wars The Old Republic). They’re both classic MMOs but which is best in 2020? This is actually a debate we saw a lot more back when SWTOR was new and SWG had been shut down and did not have emulators available yet. A lot of big fans of SWG were (rightfully) upset with SWTOR for bumping their favorite game off the scene. SWTOR itself has come a long way since then and is in many ways not like the same game it was at launch. But now, in 2020, both games are available to play through different venues. The…
Making of – Star Wars: The Force Unleashed [Behind the Scenes]
Today we have a fun video from NeoGamer – The Video Game Archive about the creation of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. The making of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, interview with the actors and the developers of all the versions of the game. Check it out here: As said in the video, they watched the movies to help them generate ideas on what they wanted to do for the games. They expressed not having a shortage of ideas, but rather, deciding how to narrow down their ideas into things that really should go into Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. They also explain the importance of sticking to canon but adding new ideas and concepts to the game. They talk about the process of running ideas by Lucas and getting input for their team on how to create different aspects of the game and stay keeping in the Star Wars…
The Grit And Gore Of ‘KOTOR’ Shows How Star Wars Games Should Be Made
We love KOTOR and we’ve made that pretty clear in our posts over the years. KOTOR has seemed to take on a life of its own in the fandom that grew around it. And you just don’t see that anymore today. The Star Wars games that are being made aren’t hitting those same tones and creating the same feelings in the fans. What was it that made KOTOR so special? Sara Elsam has written a really great piece for LAD Bible that basically expresses everything I feel about KOTOR, and how it shows us the model for what Star Wars games should be like today. They basically say everything I would say already, so rather than repeat, here’s a snippet from Sara: “And in Knights of the Old Republic, you get to pick your destiny. You can be bad – like, really bad. Sith bad. Want to force someone to kill their best…
This is the way: Star Wars fans raise over $10,000 in support of trans rights
Here’s a happy news story for a change: Star Wars fans raise over $5,000 in support of trans rights! It all began when over the past week or so, Mandalorian actor Gina Carano’s social media posts stirred up controversy. She seemed to have a lot to say about a lot of things, and not all of it was kind or flattering. But Star Wars fans are a special breed, and definitely passionate, and decided to do something to counter the hurtful language she was using. A group of Star Wars fans decided to come together and create a GoFundMe to support trans rights. Within the first two hours of creation, they had already blown past their initial goal. At the time I am writing this, they’re over $10,000 which will go to support the Transgender Law Center, an organization that “changes law, policy, and attitudes so that all people can live safely, authentically, and…
SWTOR Devs talk 6.1.4, PTS, PvP Toxicity, Credit Sellers
Are you still playing and enjoying SWTOR? You may love this story on vulkk.com from the Devs about 6.1.4, the PTS, credit sellers, PvP toxicity and more. On September 11th, the community manager Eric Musco and design director Chris Schmidt joined Aviriia, a content creator and inspired PvPer you may be familiar with, to talk about the game and the points above. They went live on Twitch to discuss these hot button topics in SWTOR. If you missed the Twitch stream, Vulkk has a nice writeup that summarizes all the main points that were disused. You can find that here, but here’s a snippet: SWTOR 6.1.4 planned for October, will be available on PTS soon SWTOR’s latest update 6.1.3 released earlier this week. The next patch will be 6.1.4. Based on the number (and the Roadmap) you know that this one will not contain any story progression. 6.1.4 will bring the Feast…
The Mandalorian Season 2 Trailer Dropped
The new season of The Mandalorian starts streaming Friday, October 30, only on Disney+. I don’t know about you, but I’m very excited for it! If you’ve been living under a rock the past few months and have not seen Season 1 yet, there’s still plenty of time to catch up before Season 2 releases, and you can find out why people are calling this series better than all the new Star Wars movies combined. So, what’s happening in Season Two? The Mandalorian and the Child continue their journey, facing enemies and rallying allies as they make their way through a dangerous galaxy in the tumultuous era after the collapse of the Galactic Empire. “The Mandalorian” stars Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Carl Weathers and Giancarlo Esposito. Directors for the new season include Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Bryce Dallas Howard, Rick Famuyiwa, Carl Weathers, Peyton Reed and Robert Rodriguez. Showrunner Jon…
NOT ALONE – Star Wars Short Film
It’s fan film time again and this one is a bit different from some that I bring you and I absolutely love it! This short will not take up a lot of your time so stop whatever you’re doing right now and give it a watch. Trust me, you’ll be glad you did. I’m happy to bring you another Star Wars Short Film today, this one from Cinematic Captures, titled NOT ALONE. It’s a very short film, but says a lot with just a little. In preparation for the construction of the Second Death Star’s shield generator, scouts are sent to the forest moon of Endor, however it’s soon apparent they’re not alone. See it here: So, what did you think? It’s really well done, paints a perfect (hilarious/fun) picture, and the effects, music, voice and everything is spot-on. It’s little gems like this that make me proud to be…
The 5 Best Things About Star Wars Galaxies!
I have written a lot of posts about Star Wars Galaxies here on the site. That’s because it’s one of the most beloved Star Wars games of our time, and it has an interesting relationship with SWTOR, which we began writing about a couple of years before it launched. There are lots of reasons to love SWG, and ask any fan and they’ll likely rattle off an entire list for you. But one thing that nearly every fan will say about SWG is that it was the community that really set it apart from other games. We have a video to sahre with you today from Napyet on this very topic. A totally subjective list of the 5 best things in Star Wars Galaxies! Massively Overthinking: Is open-world housing a failed experiment? Check it out for yourself here: Now, let us know in the comments if you agree with this…

I know not everyone is into the type of humor we get from Lego Star Wars, but I love it and this game looks like it will have no shortage of it. It’s got droids and jawas and lightsabers and C-3PO riding a bantha. And so many other great…
YES! Star Wars Galaxies Raph Koster Is Making A New Game!
Raph Koster, the original lead developer on Star Wars Galaxies, has announced that he’s working on a new MMO, one that embraces many of the elements that made SWG so special. In this video from Napyet, we learn more about that and what that might mean for SWG fans. When it comes to Star Wars games, SWG has been one of the most popular of all time. If Koster is creating another MMO, we can hold onto hope that it might be just as good as SWG, or at the very least, that it will contain the best aspects of SWG. A lot of really great points made in this video about the future of gaming, the types of games, and what we – the gamers – are looking for. What do you think?
‘The Sims 4’ is getting a story-driven Star Wars DLC
Good news Sims fans, you’re about to get a little Star Wars in your Sims! This is great news for crossover fans of both franchises. A new Star Wars DLC was just announced. “The Sims 4” will soon receive a new story-driven game pack, titled “Star Wars: Journey to Batuu,” as announced during Thursday afternoon’s Gamescom Opening Light Live. Releasing for $19.99 on Sept. 8, the pack requires “The Sims 4″ base game to play (available on PC, Xbox One and PS4). So, what will this DLC be about? Batuu will be a destination world, meaning sims can’t live there full-time since it’s meant for visits. But players can find a type of home base in Batuu that fulfills a sims’ basic needs. Players will find familiar characters from the Star Wars universe, including Kylo Ren and Rey Skywalker, and can play Sabacc (a fictional card game from Star Wars) against…
Daisy Ridley Says Work was Scarce Right after Star Wars
As the star of a multi-billion dollar franchise, you’d think Daisy Ridley would have no trouble finding a job after filming the latest Star Wars trilogy. Surprisingly, she says she wasn’t swimming in job offers right after (and this was before Covid-19 put a halt on filming). In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly about her voice role in the time-loop video game Twelve Minutes, Ridley talked about her role as Rey in the Star Wars saga, and about how she wasn’t swimming in job offers right away. Roles like Ridley’s Rey are often career-defining jobs for actors. But it’s clear that Ridley also doesn’t want to get typecasted into only one type of role. She talks about it more in a virtual interview with the site. “Nothing was coming through,” the actress recalls of those first couple months after Rise of Skywalker hit theaters. “It was so sad to finish [Star Wars],” she says…
Star Wars Galaxies Being Updated In 2020!
If you’re playing SWG on Legends, or if you’re thinking about coming back to SWG now that it’s on EMU, then you may be interested in these new updates added earlier this summer. Here’s a video from Napyet about the upcoming changes to Star Wars Galaxies on the Legends server. I really love that he covers all the details and specifics of the updates, what makes them unique and interesting, and shows us in the video while telling us about it. Two very important updates just dropped for the Star Wars Galaxies server SWG Legends – the Avatar Platform Hardmode and PVP Flashpoints. I talk through why these updates are so exciting for Star Wars Galaxies in 2020! SWG has a lot of fond, nostalgic memories for people and those players are now coming back to play through these emulators. This is a great example of how the fans and…
EA Shareholders Vote Against Pay Packages
A majority of EA’s shareholders have voted against EA’s proposed compensation package for its top executives. What does this mean exactly? Early in July, the CtW Investment Group, one of EA’s pro-labour shareholders, urged investors to vote against the Say on Pay proposal and if it had passed, this would have given EA total control over how it compensates the top execs outside of their salaries. But in the beginning of August, there was the annual shareholder meeting and 68% of shareholders voted to reject the executive pay proposal. Over 171 million votes were cast against it, compared to 59.6 million in favor according to regulatory SEC financial filing made the same week. “Shareholders issued a resounding rebuke of Electronic Arts’ deeply flawed executive pay practices that does not incentivize executives to create long-term value,” said CtW executive director Dieter Waizenegger. “This vote is a clarion call for the board to stop piling…
New Details On Amy Hennig’s Canceled Star Wars Game
Unfortunately, I’ve had to do a lot of posts about canceled Star Wars games. And that’s because they keep getting trashed; many of them before they even have a proper chance to get started and some of them canceled right when they are close to release. It’s a tragedy, really, and today we’re going to talk about about one such game. It went by the code name Ragtag, and if you’ve been around a while, you’ll remember that I’ve written about it before. In this clip from MinnMax’s full interview about leaving EA and creating Airborne Kingdom, The Wandering Band’s Zach Mumbach and Ben Wander talk about Amy Hennig’s Star Wars project codenamed Ragtag at Visceral Games and why the game was ultimately canceled. See here: Here’s an interesting snippet: “We were making an amazingly-well crafted” 12-hour experience, but EA started throwing their weight around, and I’m thinking, this is effing…
What is Star Wars Galaxies Empire in Flames?
Dan from Wolf of Thorns gives a fantastic overview of Star Wars Galaxies, SWG, on the emulator server, Empire in Flames. If you were a fan of SWG and are considering returning under the EMU, this could interest you. If you never played the original SWG and you want to learn more about it, this video will help you. His video and commentary specifically covers EiF server and also talks about some of the specific changes made by private servers. This is a perfect example of how fans have kept the game alive all of these yeas and also added their own features so that it meets their needs and stays current. See the video for yourself here: Here we take a look at the scope of Star Wars Galaxies, one of the most ambitious MMORPGs ever created, playing on the SWGEmu server: Empire in Flames. If you don’t have…
Tales of the Jedi Inspires SWTOR
How Star Wars: The Old Republic owes it all to Tales Of The Jedi, from double lightsabers to Sith Lords, Korriban, and the family tree of Bastilla and Satele Shan – James Hoare of Sci Fi Now tells us about Tales of the Jedi and how the Dark Horse Comics had an impact on SWTOR as we know it today. They have a great interview to help pay homage to the origin of SWTOR as we know it today. The idea behind Tales of the Jedi was really a new concept. It branched out from the views and storyline of the original Trilogy and did something new and bold. “18 years later, to celebrate the release of Star Wars: The Old Republic – which like Bioware’s Knights Of The Old Republic before it owes Tales Of The Jedi a tremendous debt – we got in touch with Veitch to find…
What You NEED to Know about SWTOR in 2020
SWTOR is now available on Steam, as I told you about recently. Because of this, the game has been launched back into mainstream conversation. This has a lot of people wondering if they should try the game, or come back to it if it’s been years since they played. I know I’ve had a lot of Steam friends asking me about it when they see me playing. This is a great opportunity for new players to jump in, or old players to return, if you’ve been out of the scene for a while. (And if you’re still social distancing for help reasons, this can give you something else to do while you’re spending more time at home). Lore Star has done a fun video that answers the question, “Is SWTOR worth playing in 2020?” He also talks about the difference between free players and Preferred (paid) players. Check it out…
