DICE Stockholm Continues Development on Star Wars Battlefront

We have some good news regarding Star Wars Battlefront 3! The latest news on the release date is positive and after the past few quiet months, this is an exciting turn for the game. DICE developers have been deep in it working n BF4 issues and bugs but after the LA and Stockholm studios came together to get it all under control, we might see them focusing their efforts back on Star Wars Battlefront 3. The worst seems to be over and staff are back to working on the Star Wars: Battlefront 3 release date, which is expected sometime in 2015. Sounds like they may be intentionally planning it around the same time the new Star Wars movies will start coming out. iDigital Times tells us more: The news about DICE Stockholm’s renewed focus on Star Wars: Battlefront 3came by way of Reddit. Massively Closes its SWTOR Doors

In what seems like a trend here recently, Massively announced it is closing its SWTOR doors. In this post, they explain a bit about the when, where’s and why’s: After four years, it’s time to migrate the Hyperspace Beacon to a new home. I’m not leaving Massively; I will still have my Elder Scrolls Online column, and there is a chance that the Hyperspace Beacon can make a cameo here every once in awhile. I still love the Massively staff, who are some of the best people in gaming journalism, and journalism is not a term I use lightly. But since we can no longer run the Beacon on Massively, I have created a website specifically for this column: HyperspaceBeacon.com. I will continue to do my weekly editorials on Star Wars: The Old Republic, but having a site dedicated to this column means that I can cover more Star Wars-y stuff too. There are new movies…

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Anniversary Edition?

How much would you like to see a KOTOR Anniversary Edition? If you answered high, you are not alone. There are many fans out there who are anxiously awaiting word that we might see an Anniversary Edition for Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. And word has it, Microsoft executive Phil Spencer thinks this sounds like a good idea. Responding to a fan on Twitter, Spencer revealed KOTOR was one of his top 5 RPGs, alongside Ultima Online, The Bard’s Tale, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, Fallout and Baldur’s Gate. He was then asked if we would see an Anniversary Edition of the game, as we have done with both Fable and Halo. While he acknowledged potential difficulties centered around developments since then, he also said he would discuss it internally to see if Microsoft could make it happen. @JacobTaylorN7 I like the idea. No idea how the rights would…

SWTOR Leveling a Toon Entirely Through Galactic Starfighter!

If you have ever wondered if it is possible to level from 1-55 entirely through the Galactic Starfighter, then your answer is here. It can be done and someone has done it and told us all about it. According to this post on the official SWTOR forums: “I logged in at level 1 and immediately queued – flying the Star Guard for a while to earn my Flashfire. 1-8 were done standing next to the shuttle on Ord Mantell, and then I rode it over to the fleet, where I remained until level 15. Returning to Ord Mantell, I did the class questline up to the point where Corso joins you as a guest, in order to use him as my co-pilot. I hopped the shuttle back to the Republic Fleet, and have been there ever since – I’ve become somewhat of a fixture on the Ebon Hawk‘s fleet –…

EA May Take Title for “Worst Company in America” for 3rd Time

It’s that time of year again and The Consumerist is having their annual contest for the “Worst Company in America”. And funny enough, it looks like Electronic Arts may take the title for the 3rd year in a row. The process of nominations started already and will continue through 5 pm ET on Thursday, March 13. No company except EA has ever managed to win the prize two years in a row (2012, 2013) as we brought you previously. And now it looks like they could take it for a 3rd year. The winner of this prestigious title gets the Golden Poo award. Both times that EA won the prize, Bank of American was next in line. No offense to any readers who may work for BoA but I’m not too surprised. So will EA win out again and remain the reigning champion or will some other bad American company take the…

TOR TV: Darth Malgus Solo

Solo kill Darth Malgus The False Emperor Flashpoint in SWTOR. This is really, really cool. We know a lot of people have tried to solo this fight and there have been players around the forums saying they did it but being able to see it on video gives the justifiable proof- and it’s just fun to watch. It’s an epic fight, a lot of fun and only possible because Vex’xus was at max rated gear and his level was 55. We think it’s pretty awesome to watch though. Do you have any videos of this kind of thing? Or do you have a favorite YouTube Channel or player that you love to watch gameplay videos or spotlights from? Tell us about it so we can share with all our readers!

STAR WARS 80’s High School

What if the Star Wars cast were dropped in an 80s teen movie? Well, it might look something like this cool concept art from Denis Medri of Cesena, Italy. His project, posted to Behance.net, asks “What if Star Wars were set in an 80s high school?” The result is much like you would imagine, only even more awesome. We know that some hardcore fans don’t like any deviation from the original story and we can respect that fully but you still have to think the creative and artistic ability that went into this is pretty amazing. We have a too-cool skate Luke and a bubble-blowing tights-wearing Leia to start us off. And then we have Han Solo & Chewbacca  And then we have some awesome nerd-droids: There’s also Vader,Boba Fett & Troopers: And a personal favorite of mine is Breakfast Wars: And there’s more so check out the link for…

Will the Competition Be Held off By SWTOR’s 2014 Roadmap?

The plan for the future of 2014 is out. So how will this affect the competition in the MMORPG market? If you ask around the SWTOR community, you will find that people are very split on how they feel about these changes and upcoming plans. Some players are really happy about it while others have their own ideas of how certain aspects of gameplay and other details should go. The diversity is one thing that makes the gaming community so unique and broad and we do know from experience that BioWare listens to what the players have to say about certain things like this. But when we look outside of the community, how can we expect these changes to affect the competition that SWTOR has now and in the future? Elite Monster has done a write-up on this that pretty much echoes my thoughts on the matter. The first point…

Why Do People Talk about SWTOR Like It’s a Failure?

A lot of people keep talking about SWTOR like it’s a failure but that’s really not the truth. So why do so many people seem to have this perception about SWTOR? As I explained in my recent post, SWTOR’s Cartel Market Rakes in $139 Million Dollars in 2013, one reason for this is that many people mistakenly associate a game going from sub to F2P as a sign that it is failing. But that’s not always the case. It really just means that a different pay model was needed and now that they have it, BioWare seems to be doing very well with SWTOR financially. If you spend any time around the gaming communities, you will notice people talking about how SWTOR is a failure or making reference to how some other game is going to be a failure “Just like SWTOR” but no one can give you any real proof of…

Well, according to Fiscal Year 2013 the Fiscal Year 2013 Annual Financial Report And Shareholder Letter Disney will get a good 40 years out of it. That’s a decent chunk of a person’s lifetime.
