Star Wars: Darkness Rising: The Threat Within Chapter 12

Chapter 12 “Oh, come on, Lowie,” Ren whispered.  “Aren’t you in yet?” Lowbacca growled at her from where he was half inside a console.  He grabbed hold of the frame and pulled himself out.   “Don’t get that tone with me, Furball,” Rae snapped.  He bared his teeth and held up a small device.  “You were able to get the information?” she asked.  He nodded and tucked the device into one of the pouches on his belt.  Lowbacca paused as he pushed himself to his feet.   He glanced to Rae and saw her frozen.   He growled softly and she nodded.  “I sense it to, Lowie.  Someone’s coming.”  She glanced over to him.  “Where do we go?”  He did not have to think about it.  He knew the only way out was up.  He pointed upward and growled.  Rae didn’t argue, only gave him a curt nod.  They both ran, heading out…

Accidental Cross-play Creates Havoc in Star Wars ‘Jedi Academy’

Leave it to veteran gamers to find (and exploit) game glitches when they find them. That’s pretty much happened this week when veteran PC players of Jedi Academy realized they could invade console games. As we reported recently, Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy just recently released for the PS4 and the Switch. Many excited console gamers logged on to play, only to discover an unexpected enemy: PC players of the game. “Apparently all you have to do is take the server IP from a console match, which is clearly visible on console, and enter it in the PC server browser and join,” May Payment noted on the ResetEra forums. “I joined a game where one player was absolutely mopping the floor with us and he had .twitchtv in his username. Sure enough, I looked him up and he was playing on PC in a switch server absolutely decimating everyone.” Not only are more experienced players…

The coronavirus pandemic sweeping the globe is impacting every industry, and the gaming industry is no exception. The popular Star Wars Battlefront II was set to receive a pretty big update this past week. The anticipated Battle of Scarif Update (free) would be adding a lot of new content for players to consume. It was expected to add the planet Scarif to Supremacy and other game modes. It also brought Original Trilogy content to Supremacy. However, this major update has since been delayed. To prevent the spread of the virus and keep people safe, employees from industries all over the globe are laid off or transitioned to working from home. DICE is included in this, which is why the update has been postponed, but not canceled. “The Star Wars team have now moved away from our office setup and into our homes,” an official statement from the game’s community manager, Ben Walke…

Star Wars: Darkness Rising: The Threat Within Chapter 11

Chapter 11 General Dene stood next to an I9L2 intelligence droid.  He stood with his hands behind his back wishing that he had another cup of caff but there wasn’t time.  The glossy black droid was not tall as a K-series security droid.  Its torso was larger around to hold the computing power needed.  The general sighed and scanned the night sky.  “What is taking him so long?” he said.  “According to sensors, he entered atmosphere a few minutes ago, General Dene,” the droid said.  “His ship should be landing shortly.”  Dene and I9L2 looked around as they both heard a humming sound.  They both turned in time to see a large corvette come around the tower into view.   The black color of the ship seemed to absorb the light around it, creating hole in the sky.  “Does it have a cloaking device?” Dene asked.  I9L2 was quiet a moment…

Ahsoka Standalone ‘Star Wars’ Series Coming to Disney+

Fans of Ahsoka are going to be very excited about this one. I know I am! There have been a lot of delays and cancelations happening in the entertainment sector these days, due to a global pandemic. But there’s one thing we can all look forward to. Great news coming out of a somewhat bleak month, Disney announced they had cast Rosario Dawson to play a live-action version of Ahsoka Tano, previously only a Clone Wars and Rebels animated character, to guest star in the upcoming second season of The Mandalorian. And since then, we’ve heard rumors that this is really a backdoor pilot for a standalone Ahsoka series that will star Dawson, to run on Disney+. This would be a great way to introduce the character with a tie-in and create hype before releasing her own series later. And we’re all about that! She’s an amazing start with over 112 acting credits to her name, including…

What are High Volatility Slots?

If you have been playing casino games for a while, or you have started to research a few online casino games and read reviews, you have probably seen the term ‘slot volatility’ and wondered what it means. Volatility in slot machine games essentially means risk. The risk here is losing money, but as with anything in life, with risk comes reward. High volatility slot machines also tend to be high paying slot machines, and with the increased risk you will often find greatly increased jackpots. Slot volatility is an indication of whether you will finish your gaming session with an increased bankroll. Slots machines have a range of volatility from low, to medium, to high, and here we are going to discuss high volatility slots and their pros and cons.  So, What Does Volatility in Slots Mean Exactly? You can be forgiven for thinking that low-volatility means low risk and…

Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy Now Available on Switch and PS4

A classic favorite, Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy is now available for the Switch and PS4. The game that was originally released in 2003 is now remastered and making a comeback to some new platforms. It’s been updated with some new, modern controls. If you’re not familiar with the game, it puts you in the role of a new student at Luke Skywalker’s Jedi Academy and you will fight a mysterious Sith cult throughout the galaxy. A fun aspect of this game is that it allows you to customize your character’s species, appearance, and gender, rather than choose from a pre-set player character. You can also forge your own lightsaber design and choose from the different hilts and saber colors. How cool is that? There’s a single-player mode as well as a multi-player mode for you to enjoy and the controls are updated for the PS4 port so it…

Star Wars 1313 WAS Going to be about Boba Fett

Remember Star Wars 1313? The gritty game we were all looking forward to that was unfortunately canceled before it ever had a chance to get off the ground? Well, there were a lot of rumors going around about this game. People were excited for it because it offered something very different from most Star Wars games up to that point. And a lot of people thought it was going to start Boba Fett (or a similar bounty hunter character). A screenshot that was allegedly shot from the game shows what a lot of us suspected – it may have been about Boba Fett. Shared on Reddit by LifeByTheSword, the screenshot definitely gives us the feel of Boba Fett. Other notable things from this screenshot: The graphics were really far ahead of their time. The game is so crisp and clean. The darkness in the background also has a dystopian feel to it….

Star Wars: Darkness Rising: The Threat Within Chapter 10

Chapter 10 Lando held his breath as he brought them out of hyperspace.  BX had engaged the cloaking device before they had completely slowed to relative speed.  For a moment they were flying blind until the small extensions poked past the cloaking field.   Rae stood behind Lando’s chair, holding onto the back of it.   Nein monitored the ships systems from the co-pilot’s seat.   Lowbacca watched the forward screen from the engineer’s seat.   Nothing could be seen for a moment then the screen flickered and then they could see outside the ship.  “Cloaking devices suck,” Lando said.  “Sure they keep things from being able to see inside the field, but they also prevent you from being able to see out.”  Lowbacca growled and MTD translated.  “You are using passive probes?  How big are they?”  Lando nodded.  “They are a millimeter in width.  There are six that stick past the field.”  “Can’t…

Remnants of the Order – A Star Wars Fan Film

If you’re stuck in your house for social isolation, it’s a great time to catch up on some Star Wars fan films! That’s what I’ve been doing and I have a few great ones to bring to you over the next few days (or weeks). Starting with Remnants of the Order. This one is from FantastFilms and it’s a full-length film that comes in a little over 20 minutes long. The acting is great, the characters have real personality, and the film overall is well shot. I really love the look and feel of the whole thing We even get to see some personalities from the Troopers and it makes them feel more humanized and not just like fighter bots like some films. If it feels a little slow in the beginning, give it time. I got so invested around mid-way through, I just had to see what happened next!…

Star Wars: Darkness Rising: The Threat Within Chapters 8 & 9

Chapter 8 Ben strode through the halls of the Jedi Temple.  He turned the corner and went into the council chambers.  Luke was looking at the holographic map of the galaxy that hung in the center of the room.   “You’re agitated, Ben,” he said turning away from the map to face Ben.   Luke had a full beard that was going grey and white, very little of the color from his younger years as left in it or the hair atop his head.   His eyes were bright though, seeming to pierce through Ben.  “What has you upset?”  Ben stopped and sighed.  He pushed his hair back from his face.  “I cannot get R2 to tell me what Lando and my padawans were looking into.”   “I thought you were going to let them be and see what they came back with,” Luke said.   Ben looked past Luke to the map…

Darth Vader vs. Darth Malgus – Versus Series

I absolutely LOVE the versus series that puts one Star Wars character against another to determine who would “win”. They are typically very similar characters with a lot in common, and then it’s broken down into their strengths and weaknesses and how they compare. This one was a really fun one for me: Darth Vader vs. Darth Malgus. Before seeing the video yourself, who would you rank top between the two? Now, see the video to hear their thoughts on who would win if the two were to face off in a fight: What do you think of their points? Do you agree? Did your choice come out on top? Some highlights: Vader is very intelligent Malgus has brute force – SITH juggernaut Vader faces different opponents based on the individual opponent and their strengths Vader has mental blocks that he creates for himself along the way Malgus is talented…

ILMxLAB’s Star Wars: Vader Immortal Was Almost Something Different

So many Star Wars projects have started off one way, then ventured into another direction throughout the way. One such project is Star Wars: Vader Immortal. Speaking to Tested in an in-depth Making Of video, series director Ben Snow described how different the project was initiated. It would have been more passive and the players would not have embodied a character at all. Crazy, huh? “It was originally going to be a fly on the wall narrative where you essentially observe the goings on,” Snow explained. “And so the first prototype that I became involved in, we were essentially trying to grey box/proof out/pre-viz the first script that he [David S. Goyer] had written.” If you’ve been a longtime fan of VR technology then you might remember that ILMxLAB talked about Vader Immortal as far back as 2016. This left some fans wondering if it was going to get canned or…

Star Wars: Darkness Rising: The Threat Within Chapter 7

Chapter 7 Lando climbed down the steps that lead to the Lady Luck’s cargo hold.  Rae and Lowbacca have spent most of their time there.   He came down and watched them a few times.  Sometimes they were just levitating some of the crates and each other, other times, they were practicing with the stun sticks that he saw Rae and Master Solo using on Yavin.   This time, they were sitting a few meters apart.   A torch hung in the air between them.  Two more lay on the ground, twisted and broken.   Occasionally, the torch would snap on then immediately shut off.  Rae’s eyes were closed and she was sweating.  Her body was tense as she sat there cross legged, hands going between being relaxed and balling into fists.  Lowbacca sat with his legs crossed as well.  His eyes were opened but it looked as if he were looking through Rae…

KENOBI – A Star Wars Fan Film

If you’ve been a reader here for a while, you know that I love fan films. There’s something special about the energy that fellow fans put into Star Wars projects and I love it! This film, KENOBI by Jamie Costa via YouTube is a perfect example of what I love so much about fan films. It has a true Star Wars feel to it, and it ticks all the boxes of what makes a great film. You can see it for yourself here: A really cool factoid about this fan film: they got James Arnold Taylor, the voice of Obi-Wan in the Clone Wars to be in their FAN film? This is sooo awesome! If you didn’t recognize him, he’s Leegus, the Empire Captain. How awesome is that little cameo? I just love it! This short film has amazing acting, storytelling and real emotions that pull you in and keep…
