Star Wars: Battlefront VR Game a Launch Title for PS VR?

Sony made the announcement regarding the price of their PlayStation VR in early March, after their main competitors had made their moves in this respect. What has been clear from the get-go is the fact that Sony are looking to dominate the VR market from the beginning. The price of PlayStation VR is extremely competitive and there will apparently be plenty of content available for it right from its launch. One of the titles that will be made available to players is apparently the Star Wars: Battlefront VR experience, which will indeed be a playable game, and which fans will be able to play in October. According to Sony’s John Koller, the Battlefront VR experience will be very “special” as it will be looking to accomplish nothing less than to transport players right into the midst of the Star Wars universe. According to Koller, the game might just become a…

Bioware on Missing Monthly Cartel Coins in SWTOR

Eric Musco address an issue regarding missing monthly cartel coins for some players. Subscribers check your cartel coin ledgers, BioWare may be ripping you off. | 03.28.2016, 04:44 PM Hey folks, I wanted to pop in this thread and address your concerns with the 3 day delay on Cartel Coin grants. Since August of last year an issue creeped into our granting system which caused Cartel Coins to be granted every 33 days, instead of every 30 days as intended. As you pointed out, if this issue went on for a long period of time, your monthly grant could be affected and so we definitely did not want that to happen. As of right now the only effect is that your grant may be delayed. With that in mind, we have a fix for this issue planned with next week’s maintenance. After next week your grants should continue forward, 30…

A New Kind of SWTOR Datacron Guide

Do you love Star Wars and SWTOR lore like we do? If you’re all about the story, then you will like this new kind of SWTOR datacron guide. Vulkk of Vulkk.com has taken the time to make something pretty cool. This is like the motherload of all datacron guides. It’s a datacron guide that goes above and beyond and gives you a little something more. In his own TLDR he says, “This is my SWTOR Datacron Guide collection WITH Story voiceover of each codex entry.” That really sums it up. He found a new approach to the same content that’s been done before and presented it in a different way. It can be useful for new players as well as more seasoned vets. This would also be interesting to Star Wars fans in general, even those who might not play SWTOR. There are more than 43 videos corresponding to the datacron guide…

Star Wars Fans Want to Remake Canceled Battlefront III

We know how much some fans want to see Star Wars: Battlefront III. Some want it so bad, in fact, that they want to remake it themselves. The controversial and ill-fated shooter was in development with Free Radical before it was cancelled and many fans were upset by the news. It’s been almost a year since then but Eurogamer has some info that might indicate a reboot. “Now, fans of Free Radical’s effort at Russia-based Frontwire Studios are attempting to remake this version of Battlefront, retitled Galaxy in Turmoil. The project is live now on ModDB. The small developer is also asking via Reddit for anyone else with coding experience to get involved.” As you probably already know, a lot of the gameplay from Battlefront III (or what it would have been) has been leaked online. We are able to see a lot of info about the levels, capabilities and even…

Star Wars: Uprising – The New Generation of Sector Battles & New Imperial Battles

The Star Wars: Uprising community are getting an update on Sector Battle mechanics which we think look very promising. Check it out: The New Generation of Sector Battles & New Imperial Battles Next Sector Battle: Hey Everyone, Big stuff coming this next week. First: New Sector Battle Prizing and Freedom Ratings. All prizes for normal Sector Battles have been squashed together. This means all Victory levels will reward the same prizes and those prizes will be somewhere between the old Strong Victory and Overwhelming Victory prizes or, in some cases, better. So don’t sweat the Victory Points for prizing, sweat it for upping the prize brackets for next time (see below). All planets with Freedom Rating above 10 will have an even higher bracket of prizes including SILVER FACTION CURRENCY. Since it looks like it’s most certainly Hoth next, I’ll post the prize bracket for its current Freedom Rating at the end of…

BioWare’s Next IP Was Hiding in Plain Sight: On a T-shirt

Bioware’s Alistair McNally had an interesting tweet this week after the Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Diego last week. He says he wore a t-shirt to the conference that referenced Bioware’s new IP and it appears no one even noticed. Sneaky! Also it was fun to walk around GDC2016 in a t-shirt with our new IP on it and no one batted an eyelid. — Alistair McNally (@Al_McNally) March 18, 2016 So of course, this got the Twitterverse in a tizzy as people realized their miss and some frantically searched for pictures from the event to try to see this shirt in action. There have been articles written about it, forum threads posted on it, social media dialogue and even debate over it, but still we don’t know what the new game is, or what was on his shirt. And it looks like we might be waiting awhile for…

BW Austin is Doing Animation Work for SWTOR

This fun tweet from Paul Marino, Lead Narrative Designer at BioWare Austin lets us all know they are doing some new work for the game. This lines up with the voice acting tweets we saw not too long ago as well so we can be sure some new content is in the works. What exactly they are working on is still uncertain, although many fans have speculated. Animation team & I are off out to EA Burnaby/The Capture Lab to grab some mocap for #SWTOR! Canada here we come! — Paul Marino™ (@PaulMarino) March 16, 2016 And that’s not all. Charles Boyd, lead designer of SWTOR, also had a tweet to share: @SortaRevan @nikkoliferous Not confirming anything, but we just happened to have Saresh in the booth today, actually 🙂 — Charles Boyd (@Charles_Boyd) March 16, 2016 Could it be season 2, new OPS, new combat animations? Star Wars: Battlefront Outer Rim Expansion Arrives Today!

It is safe to say that after years of building up hype, Star Wars: Battlefront was something of a disappointment depth-wise when it was finally launched, even as it blew the expectations out of the water technically and visually. One of the strengths of the game was to depict actual movie locations in great detail, making one feel like he/she was actually involved in the Star Wars canon. That strength is apparently what the franchise is banking on going forth, as it seeks to address its oft-decried lack of depth. Outer Rim, the first expansion to the game, will look to attack the problem from several angles. It will introduce players to locations like the palace of Jabba the Hutt, and it will also introduce no fewer than five new weapons/cards as well as a new game-mode called Extraction, which will see one of the teams protect and escort cargo…

Bioware on Squelch Abuse in SWTOR

Apparently some guilds in SWTOR use something called squelch abuse. The squelch system works as an anti-spamming system,  that automatically revokes all chat/mail privileges for a player if someone were to send out the same message repetitively – Think credit sellers etc. This system has also been expanded to reporting spam, and apparently people are coordinating to abuse the system to report non-spammers of spamming to trigger the system to grief players they don’t like. Eric Musco went on the forums to post Bioware’s stance on it: Sucks to be Squelched | 03.21.2016, 12:59 PM Hey folks, Let’s talk a little bit about our squelch system that is in the game. This system was implemented quite some time ago as a method for players to not only avoid filling up their /ignore list, but to also help in getting a lot of those pesky Credit Sellers out of chat. This has been very…

Do or Do Not. There Is No Try

One of the most iconic quotes from Star Wars is this one from Yoda himself: “Do or Do Not. There Is No Try”  Would you like to learn more about Yoda? This Yoda documentary by Jamie Benning (@jamieswb) is just what you need. The story of how Yoda was brought to life on the big screen is really interesting and a lot of fun. This is well worth the watch if you’re a fan at all.  Here’s a little about the project from Jamie: “During the production of my Jabba documentary short, Slimy Piece of Worm Ridden Filth, I was put in contact with Toby Philpott’s colleague and Jabba’s right hand man. Literally, his right hand man, puppeteer Dave Barclay. Dave helped us, along with Toby (Jabba’s left arm), Mike Edmonds (tail) and John Coppinger (animatronic engineer) to reconstruct just how it was inside that filthy Hutt. And of course…

Does Episodic Content Belong in an MMORPG?

So Den of Geek asks an interesting question in a recent post on their site: Does Episodic Content Belong in an MMORPG? If you’ve played a lot of games, one thing you will know to be true is that episodic content is not a new concept. There are many games across many genres that use this. Basically it’s chapter-based content that is staggered throughout the game and while it’s been around a long time, it’s gaining in popularity today due to certain hit games like Telltale’s The Walking Dead (a favorite of mine) and Life is Strange.  But Den of Geek looks at a genre of gaming that has not seen a a lot of episodic content – the MMORPG. So it definitely makes a lot of sense for certain types of games. The story-driven content will keep players coming back for more and waiting to see what happens next. But does it make sense…

Star Wars: Uprising – Sector Battle Imminent: Hoth

This sector battle started yesterday Wednesday the 16th at 9 am PST like usual. Level 95 assaults are out, not many people are up at that level so I do not expect it to make a huge difference but we will see. There are no changes this week, here are the: Milestone rewards. I expect we could see up to 1.2 Mill for Captain or higher because Hoth drops Havod crystals. I will update with the new rewards for 95 and such during the SB. Hesitating Over EA Access? Maybe It IS a Good Deal

If you’re like most of us gamers, it seems like there is a ploy around every corner to get more money from you and it can be difficult to know where and how to spend your money wisely. Believe me, I know all about this as I was addicted to Humble Bundle before they came out with their monthly subscription offer and I have been known to spend real-world cash in WoW, Steam, and various games that I play. Hey, some people go to expensive movies, concerts,  or dinner dates and some people get their entertainment online. The point is, EA Access may have seemed to a lot of us like another money grab from EA but is it really? Could it be that it’s actually worth it after all, at least for some gamers? Let’s explore this idea for a bit, shall we? Connor over at MMO Fallout makes…

Star Wars: Battlefront Hits VR With PlayStation

With the VR wars in full swing, Sony fell somewhat behind as far as spectacular and hype-filled announcements were concerned at least, but they were apparently only squaring off to release this one: it looks like there will be a Star Wars Battlefront experience coming to Sony’s PlayStation VR as a fruit of the partnership between EA and Sony and as one of the 50 games which will be available for the VR device come its October 2016 release. The announcement was made at Sony’s GDC presentation which focused on the VR headset. Now then, as the expression “Star Wars battlefront experience” clues us in, it’s not an actual game we’re looking at, rather something described as “a cinematic gaming experience” by Sony Computer Entertainment’s Andrew House. House also said that there would be no shortage of content for the upcoming VR platform, given how some 230 developers are already…

Gambling on Huttball

There are few games within SWTOR that one could bet on as easily as a good game of huttball. In fact, it almost seems as if the game was invented with that very purpose in mind. Seeing as huttball is run by the Hutts, players should be allowed to queue to watch huttball warzones and then place bets on various aspects of the game. You could place bets on things like the least deaths, most kills, most damage, most healing, most medals, winner, losing team, and more. In fact, I’m willing to bet players and spectators would think of tons of different reasons to gamble on huttball games. BioWare can’t even use story as an excuse for why this wouldn’t work because it makes perfect sense within storyline. But it seems like they are not interested in adding this feature to the game, despite how much people seem to want…

Outer Rim DLC Price and Release Date

EA and DICE have finally confirmed some specific Star Wars Battlefront DLC release details and we know that it will cost $15 ($14.99 US) and that it will be available on March 22nd for Season Pass holders and on April 5th for everyone else. So there are the big questions out of the way. You can see it up for sale on Gamestop with the dates and pricing info now available. Mat Everett did say on Twitter that the company cannot confirm that the Gamestop release date is accurate. This is common practice for game developers but Gamestop has been historically accurate with their launch dates since they get this info from the companies themselves. So we’ll just say it’s as close to official as you can get before actually being official right now. When they announced the Season Pass, EA and DICE also promised new weapons, vehicles, Star Cards for…
