What’s happening at BioWare? We can’t be certain but it definitely doesn’t make you feel good when first Joveth left and now both Lars Malcharek and Tony Moreno, the German and French community managers for Star Wars: The Old Republic. All the SWTOR Community Managers are leaving the scene. It’s unknown at this time whether any of these mean left on their own or were let go by BioWare but we’ll probably never known since the conditions of their exit probably also included a gag order of some type. So what does it mean for the SWTOR communities in the US, Germany and France? Will this open the door to new staff members or will the already-small staff of BioWare SWTOR just continue to dwindle? If you’re curious about what all of this means, Eric Musco did stop by the forums today to leave some type of feedback: Hello JPryde, You…

The Gree Event and Star Wars Canon
If you’ve been enjoying the Relics of the Gree event, you’re not alone. However, this event has sprung some great conversation about the Gree and whether or not they are portrayed correctly within the game and the storyline in SWTOR. Is it accurate and keeping with the story and the timeline of events? Some players have questions about the legitimacy of the story and the rewards that come from these events. For example, we know that the Gree as a people are supposed to be far advanced but many of the galactic weapons and quest rewards don’t’ see all that amazing. It looks nice, yes, but it doesn’t seem to fall under the very rare and powerful that the Gree are best known for. And then there is the issue of the droids. In story, the Gree are known for disliking droids. In fact, it can almost be called a…
Jawas gone wild! Hooded little creatures invade Xenoanalyst boss encounter!
It was supposed to be yet another Xenoanalyst hard mode operation for the Gree World event that ends soon… Most of the Alpha Strike Force guild group had never done this fight before and was in the process of figuring out its mechanics. The operation was on its third try and controlling the additional monsters (i.e. adds) attacking the group during the main fight was becoming the main issue.
Stat Scaling for 2.0- Are Your Stats Lower on the PTS?
If you’ve logged into the PTS recently, you probably have already seen that the scaling is different from what is live in the game. Stats are usually around 50-70% of the character sheet value in live. Everyone on the PTS was aware that BioWare would be changing the scaling formula but we didn’t know exactly what that would be. Now with 2.0, you can tell what these changes are going to look like. One user on the forum has taken the time to work from the old formula and try to build new co-efficients that will govern the stat scaling (yes, lots of math involved but it’s really interesting.) Here are some of his breakdowns: Defensive Defense Rating – Now scales roughly 118% slower Shield Rating – Now scales roughly 50% slower Absorb Rating – Now scales roughly 127% slower Armor – Now scales 2.5% slower, but remains on a linear progression HP – Buffed…
Two Spawn Locations for Droid: Ancient Gree Defender and Destroyer
You may not be aware that the droid that spawns near the pylon of the PvP area will also spawn in the southern section of the Western Ice Cliff. This image created by Clopsy of Jeddit will show you exactly where to find it, including coordinates. This is a great find since it makes it easier to catch the spawn. There are eight confirmed spawn locations here and the spawn rate is 7 minutes. Check out the graphic to see for yourself. Thank you Clopsy!
Patch 2.0 is now on Public Test Servers!

Newly-released screenshot from the new level 55 operation For (the few) who don’t know, patch 2.0 is part of the upcoming digital expansion: Rise of the Hutt Cartel. SWToR Gree Event analysis…or taking a closer look at gamer personalities.
The SWToR community never seizes to amaze me… Even though some limited negative examples tend to grab our attention every now and then (these exist in every community after all), there are certainly moments that you’re proud to be a SWToR gamer. A recent example of this is Ardonorrin who posted an interesting analysis over the official SWToR forums dealing with the recently launched Gree event as well as the types of gamers the event appeals to. What type of gamer are you? An explorer, an achiever, a socializer, or a killer? His analysis is based off the Bartle test, a character theory based on the observations of Richard Bartle, the father of online multiplayer gaming and takes a closer look at the different types of gamers and essentially what makes an in-game event successful. It’s definitely a very interesting read and offers a different perspective on gaming as a whole….
Relics of the Gree: World Event Guide
If you’re excited about the Relics of Gree world event or still trying to work your way through the quests, you’re in luck because there are guides available to help you see it through to completion. I’m all about writing guides for SWTOR but for this world event, Dulfy beat me to the punch and there are no better guides than Dulfy’s. She spends so much time in the game and test servers that her guides are thorough and complete. So with that said, rather than type up my own Relics of Gree world event guide, I’m going to point you in the direction of hers. You can find it on her website: Dulfy.net Here is her navigation, complete with links to take you to each section of the guide to allow you to jump forward or backward as needed. Navigation How do I get there? Gaining Reputation Missions World…
What are we fighting for?
Image by F0rmaldehyde Yes we here at SWTORStrategies know, Valentine’s Day is over. But that Hallmark/Nestle money making day has no ownership over love! Love exists throughout the entire year, at every hour, boundless, at the whim of our collective hearts. True lovers don’t need a special day to love. So too does this video which came out the day after Valentine’s. You’ll love it regardless of what day of the year it is. It’s a story of lovers, with in the empire, who dare ask the question: “What are we fighting for?” Thanks King Théoden, for your work. It was awesome.
Relics of Gree New Updates
Patch 1.7.0b was deployed this morning. This small patch was to correct an issue with several Return of the Gree missions that would allow players to skip steps by accepting shared missions from groupmates (so no more shortcuts, peeps!) The hotfix also corrected the following Legacy issue: In order to prevent players from running into an unresolved issue with Legacy unlocks for Improved Priority Transport: Personal Starship from Global Unlocks > Other > Convenience, the ability to purchase them has been temporarily disabled until we find a permanent solution. These unlocks will be enabled again in a future patch, and players are still able to purchase and use the Legacy Character Perk for Priority Transport: Personal Starship. While many were disappointed the downtime didn’t correct some other (possibly more serious) issues and bugs, at least the servers were back up and running without too much delay. SWTOR VIP Areas Now for More than Hanging Out
So the VIP lounge is where all the cool kids hang out? While BioWare may have had good intentions with creating the VIP areas, there was sadly not much point in going there. Everything that you needed for your character was found in other zones and areas so unless you were RPing or just goofing off, there wasn’t much point in hitting those VIP areas. But the new game update has changed that. Want access to a mailbox without a bunch of commoners hanging around it? Want a new place to get to your cargo hold or to use the GTN without a whole crowd around? Well, if you’re a VIP, you’re in luck. BioWare has now decided to make the VIP areas matter for something other than just hanging out or feeling special. Now the VIP areas also have the Galactic Trade Network terminals, mailboxes and Cargo. This could…
Free Quick Travel to Your Ship Every Hour, Until They Patch It
Whenever there is a game update, there is the chance that things will go wrong. Sometimes those little bugs work in our favor, even if only for a little while until they get patched. This happened with the most recent update nad you can now get a free quick travel to your ship every hour until it is patched. As Online Community Manager Joveth Gonzalez says in the forums: Hi everyone, With Game Update 1.7, we introduced the new Legacy Character Perk, Priority Transport: Personal Starship. This allows players to quickly shuttle to their personal starships. This ability normally has a 24 hr cooldown, and players have the option to purchase Legacy Global Unlocks to reduce this cooldown. Unfortunately, with Game Update 1.7, there is a bug which automatically unlocks the three levels of Legacy Global Unlocks for any players that is level 20 or above. This is not intended…
Amazing Jedi Sage SWToR Fanart!
It’s always great to see when the most talented SWToR fans publish their astonishing artwork.. It’s actually even better when their artwork uses SWToR as a theme. Erik Shoemaker has created an amazing piece of fanart that was inspired by the Jedi sage story line where you’re able to play a force and light saber wielding Jedi. According to him, the most difficult aspect of his creation involved getting the perspective right. Either ways the end result is spectacular to say the least. You can find Erik’s work at Devianart and other examples of SWToR-inspired fanart over at the official forums.
SWTOR Game Titles and How to Get Them for Yourself
Don’t forget to check out constantly growing list of guides for Star Wars: The old republic Do you like to collect titles in the game like some people collect achievements? Sith Academy Pyramid Translated
If you’ve played Sith in SWTOR, there’s a good chance that like me, you wondered what that giant pyramid in the Sith Academy on Korriban says. It’s written in Aurebesh and says: Fear Fear Attracts The Strong The Weak The Innocent The Corrupt Fear is my Ally Fear is Power Credit for the original translation goes to OmniMalev but if you ever want to figure things things out for yourself, there are some great tools to help you do so. First, here is a chart showing the Aurebesh alphabet: And you can find a really cool tool that lets you translate English to Aurebesh at Aurebesh SWTOR Tools. Unless, of course, you already know all the letters by heart!
SWTOR Relics of Gree Live Event
Star Wars: The Old Republic’s Relics of Gree live event is on the way. Set to begin February 12 in the United States and last through February 26, Relics of Gree is only a few hours away. So what’s the big deal, you ask? Well, the big deal is that you can get weapons and armor sets as rewards for completing the event and its quests. This questline and live event suggests that Update 1.7 is coming very soon, which is also good news for those who are anxious for the new content. So it’s a win-win all around for SWTOR fans. This is all coming prior to the new Galactic Reputation system that is supposed to be on the way with 1.7 and there’s a good chance if you participate in this event, you might even start earning some of that reputation already. So what do you say, are…
SWTOR Mirror Skill Translator
We love to find you cool SWTOR tips and tools and we recently stumbled upon a nifty little tool for someone looking to switch factions in SWTOR. As you know, each class has a mirror class and while the abilities do the same thing, they are not called the same thing. So when you’re reading one of the many guides that are available out there, you might find you get thrown off because you’re not sure what the acronyms mean or how that translates to the mirror class that you’re used to playing. Someone with the same problem had made a nifty tool that allows you to copy/paste blocks of text (say, from a guide) and get it translated to its mirror class so you instantly increase your knowledge of the class. It gives you a boost on the learning curve and gets you back in the game on your…
SWTOR to Get Animal Mounts
Fun and interesting news coming to us from the SWTOR community forums- we’re getting animal mounts. It’s been talked about since SWTOR launched (and actually some before it launched) and now we finally have some official word on the topic. SWTOR Systems Designer NathanEmmott posts: Howdy everyone!I wanted to pop in here and let everyone know that we are very much reading y’all’s suggestions (and the ensuing debates ). I figured the Animal Mounts discussion would be a good one to jump in and let you know that creature mounts are something we have wanted for quite some time now. Now, obviously I can’t tell you anything concrete yet – mostly because there isn’t anything concrete yet – but I can tell you that Hoth doesn’t feel right without being able to ride a tauntaun. Awesome! So there’s nothing “concrete” as he said but we know they are on the way….
Dulfy Dissects SWTOR Rise of the Hutt Cartel Trailer
We have all seen the trailer for the Rise of the Hutt Cartel but in true Dulfy fashion, she breaks it all down for us so we can understand just what is coming and how it correlates to things we have been previously told by the devs. In this dissection, she talks to us about lore, gear, skins and more. Her breakdowns come complete with stills from the trailer to illustrate what she’s talking about. Here’s a snippet: 10) The frame after that shows what I think is the spaceport for the “city” in Makeb. You can see small shuttles flying in/out. This was the background used for this high res screenshot on swtor.com The armor and weapons used by the four characters on the high res screenshot is interesting. The 1st and 3rd character from the left doesn’t have new armor models. They are using the Empire version of…
Congratulations to Carnage: World First Downing of Dreadtooth Ten Stacks
Big congrats to Carnage for a world first downing of Dreadtooth Ten Stacks combined with the world first downing of 16-man TFB Secret Boss (Dreadful Entity). We love to hear about world firsts and it’s our pleasure to bring the news of this one out to you all. It’s important to show the community spirit of SWTOR as a whole and we celebrate when a feat like this is achieved. Here you can see a video on Twitch. The boss is around the 50-minute mark of the video: And here we have an interview with Carnage by JediConsular about the event: So what do you think? Any points you want to add? Has your own guild gotten close to this? Want to share in a big congrats to Carnage for their hard work on achieving this feat?
Game Update 1.7 Brings Galactic Reputation to Players
The official SWTOR blog has some interesting info about Game Update 1.7 today. There are going to be many new additions such as new legacy titles, reputation and more but the biggest news is the addition of Galactic Reputation to players. Check out this explanation from the SWTOR blog: Game Update 1.7 will introduce Galactic Reputation to all players. This is a new way for your character to advance in Star Wars™: The Old Republic™. In a time of widespread conflict and political strife, disparate organizations throughout the galaxy seek allies in the struggle for peace… or conquest. Reputation measures how your character is perceived by these organizations it reflects the prestige you’ve earned through your heroic contributions to each cause. The Reputation track for each organization is divided into six ranks – Outsider, Newcomer, Friend, Hero, Champion, and Legend. You will start with no rank at all, but as you…
1.7 Class Changes + lvl 55 Abilities Datamined
A SWTOR gamer posted to the official forums with some info that was supposedly datamined for the upcoming 1.7 patch. The user (named Kamii) had some information from the latest PTS client update but the thread was promptly removed. All credit for datamined info goes to Kamii. *Disclosure: All Datamined info should be taken with a grain of salt. There is no way for us to verify any of this as true, nor is there any way to prove that Bioware will still leave these features in the game if the info was valid. It’s meant for fun and speculation only.* Now, off to the info: Sentinels – Combat Spec “hand of justice” -> next dipatch can be used on any target also on combat tree – time_dilation (no description) New proc – increases melee and ranged defenses by 1% per charge up to 3 charges, lasts 10 secs, procs…
SWTOR Reverse Engineering Can Cost a Lot
Reverse engineering is based on luck because of the random number generators (RNG) in the game. If you run across some bad luck, you could end up spending a great deal of money on your reverse engineering. If you have yet to experience it yourself, you need to read the story of this guy who wasted 20 million credits with a combination of poor Reverse Engineering luck and his own greed. He’s written about the tale in a “what not to do” blog post so you don’t have to suffer his same embarrassing fate. How I Underestimated SWTOR’S Reverse Engineering RNG from Mad Sith Assassin tells us: When rank 27 gear released with Terror From Beyond, I wanted to continue the success I had before. This is around the time two fateful events occurred. First, it became public knowledge that taking a crafted mod a player had made and…
