The guys over at BioWare Austine is planning to make some changes to the Warzones in SWTOR. This was already mentioned in the 2018 summer roadmap update a few weeks ago, but here are some more updates about it: As Keith mentioned in the roadmap we are looking to make some Warzone changes this year, starting in July. It is our plan to try to get these on PTS as well, but before we get to that point we wanted to get your opinion on our plans. Below you will find the changes along with our goal for these changes. Let us know your thoughts. The goals of these changes are: To shorten the average time of our Warzones to be around 12 minutes. We have a few WZs that are taking quite a bit longer than that currently. We have some WZs that are exploitable due to environment hacking, we want to…

SWTOR Yavin Warzone Delayed to Patch 5.6.1
The Yavin Warzone is delayed until gamme update 5.6.1. Here is the update: Hey folks, Quick update on Game Update 5.6. As we are getting closer to the launch of Update, we feel we need just a little bit more time to really bring the new Yavin Warzone up to quality. We are going to pull it out of Game Update 5.6 (launching 11/28), instead it will now launch as a part of 5.6.1 only two weeks later on 12/12. We apologize for the delay in the Warzone, we know that there is a lot of excitement for it and we are eager to get it to you as quick as we can. This date change does not impact any other elements of the Game Update. As a reminder, here are some of the bigger things coming in two weeks with 5.6 (this is not a comprehensive list): New Flashpoint…

SWTOR: PTS Warzone and Arena Changelist
Odessen Warzone and Rishi Arena is going through some changes on the SWTOR Public test servers. Here are a list of what has been changed this time: Odessen Warzone Performed a small optimization pass on Odessen Warzone visuals. Designer Note: We are expecting a slight increase in client performance while in the Odessen Warzone with this update. The update included removing the VFX that plays your team’s color while in a Control Point area. We are still performing additional optimization passes but wanted to get this out into the wild to see how it played. Control Points are active for approximately 90 seconds, up from the previous 75 seconds. Designer Note: We found that players didn’t have enough time to react to changes during a round and that this would allow more time for attackers to remove defenders. In Round 1 only the three middle Control Points (Defense Cannon, Cantina,…
SWTOR Dev Post – About Warzone Legacy Boxes
BioWare are now changing the current 99 warzone commendation legacy boxes to 100, 500, and 1000 commendation boxes. Apparently this has not been possible before dude to tech limitations. From Alex’s 2nd post, it seems like they converted WZ comms into a currency and so these boxes can hand out as many Comms as the devs would want them to give since its like basially a lockbox you get for credits. Instead of being randomized, its 1 set amount. Why they didnt make Comms a currency sooner is beyond me. Check it out below: About Warzone Legacy Boxes… | 06.08.2015, 02:42 PM We agree! The 99 limit is too low and it is that way because of tech limitations. Good news though! We got some new tech that is going to allow us to change things up. In an upcoming PTS refresh you will see the 99 Lockbox removed and…

TOR TV: SWTOR Warzone Commendation Decorations
SWTORrista posted a bunch of youtube videos showing all the new Star Wars: The old Republic: Galactic Stronghold decorations obtainable from Warzone Commendation. So instead of the one video we normally posted in this segment, we have the pleasure of posting 9. All of them cost 200 Warzone Commendations, except for the Hypergate Ring which is 1,000. Decorations are shared along your whole legacy, so you can buy Imperial decorations on your imperial toon and see/use them with your Republic character on Coruscant! Just don’t let the senators see your Imperial banners from your giant bay windows… The guards are not intractable. Enjoy!

Developer Update: Ancient Hypergate
Senior Designer Rob Hinkle, takes the stage, in today’s Developer Update. In this he introduce the new Warzone arriving with the upcoming Game Update 1.6 in Star Wars: The old republic. While this might not contain much new information for people following swtorstrategies, it’s still worth a read. Also remember to check out Lisa’s Ancient Hypergate Preview if you haven’t done so already. Today, I would like to introduce the public to our newest addition to Star Wars™: The Old Republic, the Warzone: Ancient Hypergate. This Warzone takes place in an ancient ruin built around a Gree hypergate. The Republic and Sith Empire are doing battle in an effort to control the area and claim the lost technology for themselves. Each of the factions have calibrated a gate that will allow reinforcements to be brought directly into the battle. These gates need to be charged up to full power in order to stabilize the connection and allow for safe passage. A nearby set…
Ancient Hypergate Preview
Game Overview Ancient Hybergate is a bit unique in that players must kill the opposing team members in order to harvest enough power to open the Gree hypergates, allowing their reinforcements to be transported to the area. The trick though, is that players must have activated pylons in order to harvest the opposing team’s energy. The Map Players of each team will start at North and South areas of the map in what are called spawn zones. Each team can access the map from the East or West, but must do through timed doors. The pylons needed to access the opposing team’s power are located in the East and West and surrounded by piles of rubble. Between the two pylons, players will find a safe zone in which there are energy cubes. The central area is accessible through large openings on both sides. How to Play The goal of the…
New SWTOR Content on the Way
With the news of the new free to play coming soon to SWTOR, we also learned that there will be some new content coming to the game. While dates have not been confirmed yet, there are five new pieces of content we know is on the way in the near future. Let’s take a look at these five new pieces of content and remember we will continue to update you with more information as it comes in. New Warzone There will be a new warzone added to SWTOR called the Ancient Hypergate. It’s supposed to be on the new planet of Asation and they promise us new game mechanics… whatever that means. A new warzone is a plus for anyone who loves PvP and since there will be many benefits with a free to play model, we can expect this to affect PvP as well as the population of servers….
Understanding Ranked Warzones
What are ranked warzones? Ranked warzones are a new form of structured PVP ins SWTOR which offers 8-player teams the opportunity to face others in competitive, ranked matches. It’s a step up from regular, random PvP. Ranked Warzones is the new way for players to take part in PvP play; it’s BioWare’s answer to the next step in competitive PvP. It gives teams a chance to compete against each other in ranked matches. If you want to take part in Ranked Warzone matches, you’ll need to put together a team that has at least 8 players. This rule may change later but as of now, you cannot compete in these matches if you don’t have the required number of players. So it’s time to start rounding up your best PvPers in the guild or at least, your best buddies that you know you work well with. How It Works To begin, your…
Gabe Amatangelo updates us on Ranked Warzones in Game Update 1.3
Gabe Amatangelo, Principal Lead PvP Designer on Star Wars: The old republic, have just posted a blog update on the Ranked Warzone feature wich is introduced with game update 1.3. It’s an interesting read, were Mr. Amatangelo explains how the system is going to work. In the current Game Update 1.3 PTS build, you’ll find a new button in the Warzone queue window: Queue Team Ranked. This button is available to any player that is in a group of eight level 50 players, and allows that group to queue up for Team Ranked Warzones with a single click. Team Ranked Warzones can only be participated in by a full team of eight players. If any player drops out of the queue before a match is made, the team will need to find a replacement and re-queue. It all sounds awesome, but in the end of the blog post, Gabe ask…
BioWare need your help. Come test Ranked Warzones this weekend
BioWare Live Community Coordinator Amber Green, posted a heads up on the official forum, asking people to come test the Ranked Warzones at the public test realms. Novare Coast PvP Footage from Test Server (in German)
Here’s a great video with some coverage from Novare Coast PvP. Unless you speak German, you won’t be able to understand what is being said but it’s a fantastic video, regardless. 12 minutes long, it gives a lot of insight into gameplay and the new Warzone. Novare Coast New Medals and More Now if you’re looking for more information about the new medals (my guild was), here is a picture that gives you a lot of information. My guild is all about PvP so I am happy to see this and can’t wait for Patch 1.2. Are you ready for 1.2 and Novare Coast?
Patch 1.1.5 PvP Commendation Infographic
Hey everyone, I was recently asked to make a guide for new 50s or those who havn’t pvp’ed a while about the current PvP currency system. As many of you may be aware – as of patch 1.1.5 they streamlined the route to obtain battlemaster and champion commendations – it is no longer dependent on RNG anymore since you can now directly purchase these commendations. Anyways, I thought I would get creative and make an inforgraphic rather than a wall of text 😛 Hope you find it useful! Imgur mirror:http://imgur.com/WkEIs Oh yes, this is only valid until patch 1.2.
Some Useful PVP/Warzone Stats/Info
Do you love PvP in SWTOR? Are you into warzones or just wanting to learn more about them? Whether you’ve reached the level cap yet or not, PvP can be fun in SWTOR. Warzones can break the monotony of leveling or give you something to do at level 50. It’s also a way to build gear for yourself. If you want to learn a little more about the warzones, there is a useful resource you need to bookmark. Dulfy’s Healing Corner has some very useful warzone information and statistics for SWTOR. I love charts, stats and graphs so this is right up my alley. It covers gear, expertise and PvP bonuses, warzone medals, valor and amount needed for next level, resolve system details and so much more. It’s one of the most complete SWTOR PvP resources I’ve seen so far. For example, here are medals that you can…
Maximizing Medals in PvP
I just wanted to share a few tips that I use in pvp to make grinding commendations and valour more efficient and making those losses not bad as they seem. I’m a vanguard tactics spec trooper so other vanguards will find this pretty helpful as well as some other advanced classes. Damage medals There are a few in this category and they come at 75k and 300k damage done plus the 2.5k single shot. The 75k should be easy for dps classes and 2.5k in a single shot isn’t unreasonable. Pick up a power up, use stim/adrenals if you’re biochem and it is an easy medal. Obviously aim for low level players and use any cooldowns together with relics for extra attack. On my right bar I have my adrenal, relic and 25% crit ability. I just activate these at the same time and I can hit upwards of 4k….
The Empire is Winning in The Old Republic’s PvP
Do you PvP in SWTOR? If you’re not part of the Empire, you might be getting owned. While it varies according to server, just like in any game, overall the Empire is winning PvP in The Old Republic. An article over at IGN.com tells us more about why and how the Empire is leading the warzones in SWTOR. IGN tells us: According to Gabe Amatangelo, lead PvP designer, Empire players beat Republic players in 53 percent of Voidstar and Alderaan Civil War contests across all servers combined. He said a same faction versus same faction version of Huttball, The Old Republic’s most played Warzone, will also be included. At some point in the future, BioWare will let players select which Warzone they want to play, though a timeline isn’t yet set. As it is now, when you queue up to enter a Warzone, you could be potentially dropped in any…
Fan Plays Alderaan Warzone 13 Times at SDCC
Lots of great things came out of San Diego Comic-Con, making me sad that I don’t still live there so I could have attended myself. One of the more exciting stories was from the fan who played Alderaan Warzone 13 times. He was kind enough to gloat about share his experience with the rest of us as follows: “Okay, okay. I was able to hang out at Bioware Base for 4 days and maybe was able to play some PVP matches while camping the lines. It may or may not have been 13 times. Muawhahehahehah. Jealous? I know I would have been if it wasn’t me. It’s taken a bit to collect my thoughts and type all the details up on all my matches, but here it is, folks. I hope there’s no typos or horrific grammar, but this has been a long few days working on this. Be gentle….
Possible new SWTOR Warzone- The Voidstar!
A German magazine recently revealed a possible new warzone called The Voidstar, as mentioned in a SWTOR post on the official forums. The article says, “Warzones, these are the PvP Battlegrounds translated in The Old Republic. So far, only one was known and that the civil war on Alderaan (more on page 18), but now Bioware still the PvP battlefield “The Voidstar” announced that will offer a Conquest mode. More will follow as we lead designer told PvP month, Gabe. (Google Translate).” Hmm… does anyone reading speak German? Perhaps you can give us a better translation. It was then covered on the official forums in a post by Elboc and opened up for discussion. The information found on a SWTOR forum post cannot all be verified as fact so before you read, be aware that much of this is speculation. There might also be some translation issues since the post…
Warzones, Aren’t They Grand?
Instead of capturing your enemies flag to rack up points, in this battle ground you take control of massive cannons that you use to destroy enemy aircraft. The more you attack your enemy with the cannon supporting your allies fighting in close combat the more you drive enemy to retreat from said battle field. But remember don’t leave one guy with cannon alone or some sneaky scoundrel will take a shot at his head and you will be the ones running for the hills. More on this by Rich McCormick over at PC gamer. Here is a snip: The Old Republic’s warzones are the game’s PvP arenas. When you and your buddies elect to bash some fellow humans, you’ll hop into a warzone from your current location; once complete, you’ll zip back to where you were, resplendent in your new and useful gear. So far, so MMO, but The Old Republic…
