“In the pantheon of fictional universes, few are as rife with memorable characters as Star Wars. ” Ah, that is so very true. We love learning more about Star Wars and the various games built on the Star Wars universe. That’s why we love these ‘history of’ videos so much. GVMERS has a great series of history videos on Star Wars games and if you have not seen them yet, you should definitely check out their channel. Here’s a great one on The History of Star Wars Republic Commando. Whether you’ve played Republic Commando, or only heard of it, you will appreciate this video that tells you all about the game, its history, and how it came to be. It’s a really great game that still resonates with Star Wars fans and gamers today. I encourage you to give the video a watch. It’s under 20 minutes and it’s really…

Top 10 Sith Warrior Armors in SWTOR!
I have been playing SWTOR since release and writing about it here since we first found out it was being made. I’ve been following the game, the development, the characters and more for over 8 years now. It’s been a wild ride and I love to see where the game has come so far. I am also particularly fond of this new revival of Star Wars in general in pop culture. It’s a great time to be a Star Wars fan! On that topic, it’s a great time for looking at what other Star Wars fans are doing and one of my favorite SWTOR YouTubers has a series of videos about armor sets found in the game. Today I am going to share her video about Sith Warrior armor. If you haven’t seen it yet, I think you’ll really enjoy it. Sith Warrior is a fun class to play and…

Vader Episode 1: Shards of the Past
You know how we love our fan films here but we haven’t had any for you in a while. That is going to change today, however, because we have stumbled across an awesome new film for you to enjoy. As far as fan films go, this one is really top of the game. It will keep you hooked from start to finish and it really shows that it IS possible to take older characters and bring them back in new stories and new ways and it works. And it doesn’t feel like a fan film. That’s probably one of the best parts. It doesn’t feel like people in costumes. It is immersive. It is realistic. It will suck you in and you’ll forget it’s not an official film. In fact, some fans even feel like it’s better than some of the new official films we’re getting in the franchise. Yeah,…
KOTOR Remake Project is Officially Canceled
Remember how excited we all were to hear that Poem Studios was making a KOTOR remake?Apeiron was a fan-made remake of the full KOTOR game with the Unreal engine. We shared images and video demos with you here before on the site and now we have the very sad news of telling you that the Disney banhammer has hit the makers of Aperion. Disney has now forced Poem Studios to shut down their beloved project. They shared the letter they have from Lucasfilm and their decision to back down, as they don’t have the resources to fight it: It’s with a great sadness that I’m posting today; I recently received a letter from Lucasfilm instructing Poem to end production on Apeiron. After a few days, I’ve exhausted my options to keep it afloat; we knew this day was a possibility. I’m sorry and may the force be with you pic.twitter.com/OCRmMIjwGT —…

The Dark Resurgence: A Star Wars Story (Fan Film)
There are so many things to love about May 4th, but of those, one of my favorites is all the Star Wars fan films that come out. There are so many great Star Wars fan films out there and in May of every year, we get to see even more. It’s an exciting time for any Star Wars fan. With that in mind, here’s another great film to add to your list. It’s just under 15 minutes long, so it’s a quick watch, but I think you’ll like it as much as we do. From Mike The Marine: “I’m proud to finally present, The Dark Resurgence: A Star Wars Story!!! My team and I worked hard on this film for a little over 2 years! Due to my school and work, the visual effects and editing took much longer. But in the end, the Force was with me and I…
Star Wars: Dresca – Award-Winning Fan Film
Here is another great Star Wars fan film. This one from Damsel in Damnation in honor of May the 4th. Not only is this an awesome short, but it’s also great to see the female lead and a fan film written, directed, and produced by a female fan. As a fellow female Star Wars fan and nerd, I love seeing this and supporting women doing an amazing job in this field. It has great acting, great CGI and effects and a wonderful story that will keep you hooked until the very end. It’s actually written and performed well enough that it could be part of the official canon (maybe minus a nitpick but overall, a winner). It’s honestly one of the best Star Wars fan films I’ve seen, and those of you who read our site often know that I have seen a lot of them. It has a great, original story,…
Scoundrels: A Smuggler’s Tale (A Star Wars Fan Film)
We have another Star Wars fan film for you to check out today. This was is new – was just added to YouTube on May 4th. They’ve done a really great job of it. It comes in at just over 20 minutes so it’s longer than a typical short, but shorter than a full-length movie. It has a good story, nice casting and an interesting plot. It’s a smuggler’s story and I was just talking to a friend today about how I have always loved smugglers. Funny that I would come across this right after that conversation. It has all the elements of a good smuggler story and a good Star Wars story. I don’t want to ruin it for you though, so really you just need to give it a watch for yourself. We’ve embedded it but head on over to their YouTube account and follow them if you want…
Knights Of The Old Republic Is STILL The Best Star Wars Game
Are you a fellow fan of Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR)? If you’ve been around our blog for a while, you know that we have regularly posted about this game and I’ve said myself how it is one of the best, if not THE best Star Wars game to date. Well, I’m not alone in this opinion. The Star Wars franchise is not putting out as many games these days as they once were, and there is a higher quality demand being placed on the games that do come out. But how do they measure up against a classic like KOTOR? This is a question that ScreenRant takes head-on in this piece that says KOTOR is STILL the best Star Wars game. The author, Derek Stauffer says: Knights of the Old Republic was one of the first Star Wars stories of its kind. It ignored all mention of the Skywalker family…
One day I’ll become… (Star Wars fan film)
You know how we love our fan films here. Here’s a little golden nugget that is absolutely worth your time to watch. It clocks in at just under 12 minutes, but they have absolutely done a lot with the time they have here. They say that they had no budget for this and it’s honestly amazing what they’ve created from so little. True talent is displayed here and I hope we’ll be able to see more films from him because it’s fantastic. For a fan film, it’s truly impressive. The quality is there, the story, and the visual effects are also amazing. It could easily be a tie-in or trailer to a professional Star Wars film. From Roman Gregorička: “This is a short fan film, our tribute to the Star Wars saga.It was made only with delight, enthusiasm and a zero budget.” See for yourself here: “It has always been my dream…
Star Wars Galaxies: The Book
A new book celebrating SWG Galaxies is coming. Sounds exciting, right? This is a complete passion project for the author who has been working on it for the past 5 years or so. What do you think about a book about Star Wars Galaxies? SWG was one of the most popular Star Wars games and to this day, hardcore fans of SWG are still talking about those good ole days. What if you had a book written by a fellow fan to help commemorate the game and the great times it contained? You can learn more about it and follow the updates here on Facebook. Here’s a snapshot of the table of contents so you can get a good idea of what the book is about: It was shared, along with an FAQ from interested fans. This info from the author: What content can I expect to find in the book?…
The Lord Of Pain Darth Sion: A Star Wars Story
Here’s another Star Wars story from The Scoundrel’s Cantina. It was first published back in Dec of 2016, but if you missed it back then, you can still give it a watch. We highly recommend any of these videos from the Scoundrel’s Cantina. They really know their Star Wars stuff, and the videos are well made. They’re entertaining, and very informative as you are sure to learn something new in every one you watch, even if you’re already a super fan. This one is all about another famous Darth – the Lord of Pain Darth Sion. He’s not as well known to your layperson as far as Darths go, but he has an interesting and deep history that is explored fully in this video. They use a mix of both the Expanded Universe and the “Official” Star Wars Canon. He was a human who became a Sith Maurader in the war. Rather than…
EA’s Fourth Quarter Earnings Call
Electronic Arts did their fourth-quarter earnings call and there were a few interesting tidbits about Star Wars. There wasn’t loads of info about Star Wars in there, so you may not want to listen to the entire call unless you’re an investor, or just really into following what EA is up to. We took the liberty of pulling out some of the Star Wars highlights to make it easier for you. We’ll link to the full call below if you want to listen. You know they couldn’t have this meeting and not talk about Star Wars Battlefront II, so let’s see how it was mentioned: EA said they continue to be committed to the game by listening to player feedback and making changes as needed. They pointed to the progression system revamp as well as Solo Season 2 as some examples of their commitment. The return of microtransactions in SWBFII…
SWTOR: Best Smuggler Lines and Funny Moments
Are you a big fan of the Smuggler? Of all the characters in SWTOR, the Smuggler may be one of the most fun. The story is great, the dialogue is hilarious, and it’s a good time all around. “If I die, I want to be buried with my ship!” “I only work for one person: ME.” Yes, the Smuggler has some of the best lines in the game. If you haven’t played through the Smuggler storyline yet, this might be a bit spoilery – but if you have, you’ll probably remember these moments as some of your favorites, too. It’s a fun mashup and it comes in under 15 minutes so it’s not like it’s going to take up your whole afternoon to give it a quick watch. If you love the Smuggler, check out this fun video compilation of the best Smuggler lines in SWTOR: There you have it!…
The Samurai Mandalorian – A Star Wars Fan-Film
Here we go with another awesome Star Wars fan film. This one has a samurai so I was intrigued from the start. It’s short, has live actors, great costumes, and an interesting story. It clocks in under four minutes long so you’re not going to need to block out a lot of your day to give it a quick watch. It has great music, too, and they are in the very, very beautiful castle Schauenburg in Dossenheim, Germany. I would personally love to be able to see this castle and location for myself. There’s an epic lightsaber battle, some beautiful shots of the sun setting and the scenery, mixed in with a great Samurai story as well. So go ahead and give it a few minutes and watch for yourself. Be sure to leave them a comment if you really liked it and maybe they’ll get around to making more for…
Great Lana Beniko Cosplay
We haven’t posted about any cosplays recently (are people still doing this?) but we just stumbled upon a good one. Here’s an awesome Lana Beniko cosplay. She’s really good – it looks exactly like her and no details were left untouched. The level of detail on everything is amazing. She has the perfect natural features to play Lana, and she gets every little detail of her costuming and hair right as well. Lana Beniko was a Human female Sith Lord of the resurgent Sith Empire. During the Galactic War against the Galactic Republic, she served as a key advisor to Dark Council member Darth Arkous. In SWTOR, she’s voiced by Lydia Leonard. “With her serene and considerate manner, one might mistake Lana Beniko for a Jedi. She is, however, a Sith Lord of great wisdom and strength who has impressed many of her peers in a considerably short period of time with…
Solo Movie Advance Ticket Sales Higher than Black Panther
The Black Panther movie broke records right and left as the most popular superhero movie ever. Now Solo: A Star Wars Story is threatening to break some records of its own. It looks like the chances of this stand-alone adventure story being a success are good. This movie covers the story of Han Solo and we meet Chewie and see how he becomes a co-pilot and more. It’s an origins story, hopefully, done right. Tickets for Solo: A Star Wars Story went on sale Thursday night and the first 24 hours of presales have already doubled Marvel’s megahit Black Panther, according to Fandango. It does not beat Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War, which remains the fastest-selling film of the year in these early metrics. This is likely good news for Disney, since the Solo movie has had a bit of a troubled production. They had to deal with replacement directors, extensive reshoots, and some poor public perception. It seems that’s all water…
Lenova is Updating Star Wars: Jedi Challenges
Lenovo and Disney are rolling out a new mode for their Star Wars: Jedi Challenges game and this means you’re going to face off against your buds in lightsaber duels. How awesome is that?! Lenovo is rolling out an update to its Stars Wars: Jedi Challenges title that introduces local multiplayer. Lightsaber Versus Mode is a new feature that lets players battle their friends in AR lightsaber duels. Both players will need a Lenovo Mirage AR Headset, Lightsaber controller and a tracking beacon, costing $199. That’s a hefty investment for most people, unless you have a couple hundred bucks to blow, or you already have the set for other games and AR stuff. Lenova announced the news in a press release earlier today: “In Lightsaber Versus Mode, players are guided by visual cues indicating when and where to block, dodge, and strike,” Lenovo wrote. “As players face off, the battle increases in difficulty until one…
May the 4th Be With You!
It’s that time of year again, folks – my favorite day of the year: May the 4th. This is a day for Star Wars geeks or all ages to get their Star Wars fun on. How will you celebrate? It’s a great day for a movie marathon. Some people like to cosplay or host St Wars themed parties where they can dress up as their favorite characters from the franchises. I did a great Geek Pride Day 5K in honor of May the 4th today: It’s also a really great day to get awesome deals of cool Star Wars merchandise. You can find deals everywhere, but my favorite place to shop is Amazon – especially if you have Prime because you don’t have to wait forever to get your goods. Another favorite “geeky” store of mine is BoxLunch.com. They have a deal for 30% off all Star Wars stuff right now,…

Remember when we told you about KOTOR Apeiron? It’s the fanmade remake of KOTOR that allows you to enjoy the game still today, like you did back in its heydey. Well, the gang from Apeiron have a Twitch account here where you can see some videos of their gameplay. The game really looks like it’s come along nicely and whether you were a fan of the original KOTOR, or a younger Star Wars game fan just getting in on the action now, this is one you may want to check out. If you’re not sure if the game is for you, take a look at the gameplay videos below to see it for yourself. This will give you a better idea of whether or not this is something you want to try out. A New Star Wars Themed Game is Coming to Mobile
Augmented Reality Star Wars Holo Chess is a new came coming to IOS soon. Jedi Challenges is an iOS app developed by Disney that leverages ARkit. Until very recently, you had to buy a bulky headset if you wanted to play some of the games that were available for it. Now, things are changing. in addition to the changes, we see some new games being added to the lineup. One of which is holo-chess. The game made its first a brief appearance aboard the Millenium Falcon during Episode IV. You saw R2-D2 and Chewbacca play a game. You saw it again in later movies and in Star Wars games. This new game is sadly only for Apple devices at this time, but you can play on iPhone or iPad. You’re probably going to get a better experience from devices with a bigger screen, but you can use any IOS device if you just…
DICE is Working on Something New for Star Wars Battlefront II
No, it’s not new content (yet), but we did see an update that DICE is working on something new for Star Wars Battlefront II. The long-awaited update that focuses on both cosmetics and a new game mode is finally here. With it can a customization system and microtransaction. This is different from the original plan for microtransactions (that made players angry) because it will be used for cosmetics only – nothing that will help you gain an advantage in the actual game. This has been a long-standing request from the community and they’ve finally delivered, so say goodbye to pay-to-win scenarios. So, now what’s happening with Battlefront II? Since the update is out, are they all done with content at this time? Maybe not. There’s also been an ongoing request for squad system improvements. The current squad system is very basic and players have been asking for more. Basically, you just…
