STAR WARS – Touch of the Past (Fan-Film)

You know how I feel about the fan films. We regularly scour YouTube and the rest of the internet searching for awesome Star Wars fan films. Sometimes we find great ones, like diamonds in the rough. Sometimes we find silly ones. Sometimes we find videos so bad they’re good. Whatever category they fall in, I love them. They’re like a guilty little pleasure and it’s my pleasure to also be able to share them with you. With that in mind, here’s the latest. Here we have another fan film from m3mr0ck.  It’s called “Touch of the Past” and in this short that’s just over 3 minutes long, we get a brief but intriguing story. I’m honestly super pumped for part two and I hope they end up making another. This film has some great special effects and an interesting plot. There’s drama. There’s lightsabers. There’s great music. It has all the…

KotOR I & II Soundtrack Remix!

Here’s a fan who has edited and rearranged the OST of both games KOTOR I and II into a “Dark Symphony”. In reminiscence of the wonderful musical score for Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2 (KotOR I, II). Here’s an awesome soundtrack remix from the best of KOTOR I and II (arguably the best Star Wars games ever). The first half is very dark and slow, so if you are looking for action you can just go straight to the third movement, where it really kicks off. From the creator: “In reminiscence of the wonderful musical score for Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2 (KotOR I, II) I have edited, rearranged, combined, and transposed titles from both OST to create a Dark Star Wars Symphony that will make you worry about the quality of future Star Wars movies, channel your inner Sith Lord, inquire more about the tragedy…

It was posted just last month, so we’re getting some fresh fan films to keep us busy while we await the next official Star Wars movies. This is a great film, all 3D animated in Cinema 4D with a great story. It’s only 4 minutes long so it’s not going to take a lot of your time to give it a quick watch, but I really enjoyed it. It’s well worth the time to watch it and I hope we see more from Justin soon. I really liked it. Hopefully, we will see more like this from him soon. When it comes to fan films, I’ve seen pretty much all of them so it’s refreshing when something really catches my attention and stands out to me. This is one…

Reylo: Secrets Found in The Last Jedi Novel

Here’s an interesting video from Michael Jae that talks about what’s happening between Finn and Rey, the rumors of Reylo, and more. What does The Last Jedi novel tell us about these potential relationships? Are you a Reylo fan? If you’re one of the many fanboys (and girls) who saw the movie and fell in the love with the idea of a Rey and Kylo romance, then this video is for you. How do you feel about Reylo? First, do you even know what Reylo is? If not, then this might not be for you. It’s the celebrity nickname fans have given to the potential romance between Kylo Ren and Rey. Yes, that’s a thing. So anyway, the film never comes out and says there is anything romantic happening between the two. However, we do get a few intense scenes that imply there are strong feelings between the two. Is there something…

THE SITH RELIC – Star Wars Fan Film

You know how we love Star Wars fan films here, and honestly, there’s no shortage of them out there to choose from. It seems there’s nearly as many Star Wars fan films as there are Star Wars fans. With that in mind, here’s an interesting one we dug up for you. This short film from Scruffy Looking Workshop was posted in Jan of this year and is just under 15 minutes long. It has a solid story, nice costuming and decent acting. It’s not just your typical lightsaber duel (not that there’s anything wrong with lightsabers, but we like to see something different). And if different is what you want, then you’re definitely going to get it with this one. There are some… uh… interesting little pieces in this one that you won’t see in other fan films. The reaction from those who have watched it seem mixed – either they love…

The Future of Star Wars Games

You know how we love our Star Wars games here. It’s what the entire site is about! Well, let’s talk games for a bit here. I’ve been playing Star Wars games for as long as I can remember and every time a new one is in production or released, I’m excited to try it out. Admittedly, they’re not all for me, but that’s the beauty of the Star Wars universe and the popularity of it all – they just keep making more games. But… what if they stopped? Or what if the games they make aren’t the ones the fans really want? Or what if we get bored of the same old, same old they keep shoving at us? What then? This article from Hardcore Gamer discusses the topic of the future of Star Wars games and we think they have some really great points. So rather than say again…

Darth Malak: A Star Wars Story

And this time you will not escape!“―Darth Malak, to Revan Are you looking to learn more about Darth Malak? Learning the origin stories is a lot of fun for fans and we really love the Star Wars Story series of videos from The Scoundrel’s Cantina for this very reason. But Mandalorians attacked his homeland and he escaped to the Galactic Republic. He was first trained by the Jedi Order but his story would take a turn to the Dark Side. This video will give you all the basics you need to know and then…

Replay 300 – Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II

Game Informer just recently kicked off a limited series called replay 300. In this series, they play select games from their Top 300 list, regardless of their history on Replay. The first episode was Super Metroid, which was a bit nostalgic for me as well, but it was the second week that the magic really happened. For week 2 of Replay 300, they hit a different corner of space in Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II. This was one of the first Star Wars games I ever played. It was also one of the first that ever got lightsabers right (although it’s debatable in the community). They brought Dark Jedi/ dark forces to the game and this wasn’t really done before either. So join Andy, Reiner, Joe, Tack and Leo as we take look back at the pulse-pounding gameplay and beautiful FMV cutscenes of a now twenty-year-old Star Wars game….

Bastila Shan: A Star Wars Story

Here’s another great Star Wars Story video from The Scoundrel’s Cantina. I’m a huge fan of Bastila Shan so I was actually really excited to see what they were going to do with this one. It was a pleasant watch, like all of their Star Wars Story videos. It’s about five minutes long, so really a short watch but they pack a lot of info in that five minutes. Grab a snack and give it a watch! Not familiar with Bastila? Bastila Shan was a Human female who served as a Jedi Padawan during the Jedi Civil War. Born on the planet Talravin to Helena Shan and a treasure hunter, her mother gave her up to the Jedi Order, believing that their lifestyle of travel and exertions was not suitable for her daughter. Mr. Plinkett’s The Star Wars Awakens Review

In the mood for a cynical review? Are you not feeling as enchanted with the new Star Wars movies as everyone else seems to be? Here’s an oldie you may have missed – or maybe you didn’t, but it never hurts to give it another watch. It’s long, so pop some popcorn or find your favorite snacks and let’s settle in for some very opinionated Star Wars chat. You know we love Star Wars here. I’ve loved Star Wars since my earliest memory and writing for this site for so many years has been one of my greatest pleasures. That said, there are still things that can annoy me about the franchise. Can you relate? I’m not a 100% unconditional fangirl. This is even truer since Disney took over and the franchise we grew up loving started living by the Mouse’s rules. Still, anything that brings more Star Wars into our…

THE GREY JEDI : A STAR WARS STORY (Fan Film)

You guys know how I feel about fan films. I’ve said many times before that some of these fan films are just as good (or better in some ways) than a lot of the professional films out there. This is one that I can say with confidence is on that list. This is an absolutely amazing fan film! My only complaint is that it’s so short. I wanted to see more. I truly hope that this crew continues making more films because I’ll be first in line to get to see them. If you want to check out The Grey Jedi yourself, it’s shorter than 10 minutes so it won’t take up a lot of your day. It’s something you can do on a quick break even. So give it a watch! You’ll be so glad you did. See the short film here: Prologue : As the War of…

X-Wing Alliance Mod Project from Alaska Works

I just had to make a post today to show you this really cool project we came across. It’s not exactly new, but it’s not getting the attention it really deserves, so you may not have heard about it. This is a very impressive shader mod project with demo videos for what was one of the best Star Wars games ever made. X-Wing Alliance! The last and arguably ultimate Star Wars space combat simulator. Although it was released in 1999, several mods are available that freshen up the appearance while retaining the surprisingly deep gameplay. If you haven’t seen it yet, but you loved X-Wing Alliance, I highly recommend you head over and check it out. It’s really awesome and it will bring a big nostalgic feel as well. They have loads of information on their website here, including instructions for using the mod, but there are also some videos…

Cancelled Star Wars Battlefront IV Concept Art

Are you wondering about the game that might have been? Every time a Star Wars game is canceled, we find ourselves curious about what it would have looked like. Sometimes, we get lucky enough to see this for ourselves. As is the case with the canceled Star Wars Battlefront 4 – which was already in the planning stages when they shut down Free Radical’s Battlefront 3 project. And it’s really too bad this game would never come to be because the concept images show a very interesting approach to the project. This is likely something a lot of fans would have really enjoyed. It’s too bad we never got the chance to find out. This gallery of concept images reveals a strikingly different approach – a ‘what if?’ scenario where the events of the Star Wars prequels would play out differently. Anakin would have killed Yoda and murdered Padmé, which…

Loot Box Overhaul Coming to Battlefront II

Star Wars Battlefront II could be seeing a bit loot box overhaul. Players have been upset about the loot boxes since the beginning and now it looks like they’re finally going to do something about it. They’re giving the game a complete redesign of its progression system and they are removing the Star Cards for purchase, paid loot boxes and adds a new linear progression system. EA announced the changes just this week and said they will go into effect on March 21st, with additional content rolling out after that.  They also said you can expect to see paid appearance items coming in April. “Since release, we’ve been hard at work making changes based on your feedback to create a better game for all our players,” EA officials announced. “Today, we’re happy to announce that the Star Wars Battlefront II Progression update, which includes a complete re-design of the in-game progression…

How Powerful Was Darth Malgus?

When it comes to all the Darth of the Sith, Vader is probably the most well known. But who is the most powerful? You might be hard pressed to find a common answer. Malgus is definitely one that you will find on every list, however. You might see Darth Malek on that list as well, but usually it is Malgus who tops the list. Darth Malgus was a human male Sith Lord, of the Sith Empire during the Great Galactic War. His name at birth was Veradun and he was raised by his adoptive father. He showed a sensitivity to the Force at a young age, but the dark will came out very young in him as well. He killed a Twi’lek servant on his father’s estate and later was sent to the Sith Academy. Check out this video below to learn more about Darth Malgus and just how powerful…
