Star Wars: Battlefront

Star Wars Video Game Faces Gambling Charges

By now, you know all about the drama of EA’s Battlfront II after they announced the loot box system that would come with the game. This meant that in addition to the $60-80 you would pay for the base game, you could also spend more money on digital “boxes” that have a chance of giving you random benefits. You don’t know what’s in these boxes, it could be a dud like a random emote for your character. However, the boxes do have a chance of giving you something really great. This means the temptation to continue buying boxes until you get the goodies you want is very high. Even if you don’t get a dud, you may still be tempted to continue buying more boxes and continue getting more goodies to help you level up. You can get abilities to make you stronger, such as 100 percent invisibility flight on Boba Fett….

Petition to Revoke EA’s Star Wars License

We all know how upset players have been with EA over the controversial launches of both Star Wars Battlefront I and II. When we all thought Battlefront II was going to be better, the redeeming game even, they threw a curveball and added loot crates. There was such an uproar over that, they actually had to suspend the idea (at least for now). For many Star Wars gamer fans, this was the last straw. EA has the rights to Star Wars games but it would seem they keep fumbling the ball with one mistake after another and the fans are the ones suffering. That’s why there is now a petition asking Lucasfilm to revoke EA’s license for making Star Wars games. Right now, it’s an exclusive license which means no other companies can make Star Wars games. So far, over 60,000 people have signed the petition and it’s still climbing. What…

EA is investigating the latency issue in Star Wars: Battelfront 2

If you have been playing Star Wars: Battlefront 2 lately, you might have been experiencing lag lately. If you haven’t, below is a video of what I am talking about. DICE and EA are not to eager to speak out though. A one sentence response is not normal for a game that just went live.  As one player responded: “The lag is caused by gamers shutting the door to hard as they quit playing for good, the vacuum as it closes Sucks you back a few seconds and will be fixed when the last few remaining players have gone.” A bit hard if you ask me, as the game is not half as bad as people like it to be. Anyways, here is the news: Hello, We are aware of the issues that lead players to experience latencies on the game servers. We are currently investigating and will update you as…

EA Is Now Ironically Stuck With $60 ‘Battlefront 2’ And No Good Way To Re-Monetize It

forbes.com had an interesting article the other day, regarding how EA now is “stuck” with a game they can’t monetize as they want to. Here’s a summary of some of the points: Battlefront got backlash for having a $50 season pass and launching with barebones content. In Star Wars Battlefront 2 they changed the system and promised free DLC while using microtransactions and loot-boxes to monetize the game. Thanks to the backlash, they have removed microtransactions . . . but they’ve stated that they’re planning on reinstating them. If they do bring back microtransactions tied to progression then they will still face backlash. If they bring back lootboxes with only cosmetic items they’ll still draw ire. They’ve already enticed responses from multiple governments on the issues of lootboxes. That leaves them with really only one path forwards that won’t bring back a ton of backlash: Implementing an online store with microtransactions…

Is the Battlefront 2 Campaign the Best Star Wars Story in Gaming?

Needless to say, we’re overdue a new game with a great story. Will Star Wars Battlefront be that game? Some have hoped for it but the first game didn’t measure up. So did DICE listen to the fans for the sequel? Some say yes. Time will tell for sure. Early access was given to a handful of gaming reviewers and from that, we ask the question: Is the story any good? Gamerevolution seems to think it was. From their preview of the game: “My time with the Star Wars Battlefront 2 campaign has shown there’s hope that Star Wars storytelling in video games isn’t dead.” Okay, I’m intrigued. Star Wars Battlefront II Multiplayer Review

When it comes to Star Wars Battlefront 2’s multiplayer mode, the fans had a lot of feedback to deliver to DICE. It would seem the developer may have taken some of this into consideration when it comes to making With a lot of early previews out, we got to see what some game reviewers think of the game before it was available to everyone on November 17th. We already know there is a big controversy around loot boxes, and the amount of time or money it will take to unlock everything. But what about the gameplay itself? What about the multiplayer modes and features? What about the modes and maps? Is there still a playable, enjoyable game in there, despite the complaints? This reviewer from Twinfinite seems to think so. They say, “We recently got some extensive hands-on time with the multiplayer, and what we found was a robust offering with…

The Microtransactions in Star Wars Battlefront 2 have been temporarily disabled

EA is temporarily pulling the microtransactions from Star Wars Battlefront II. This is probably due to the outcry in the community, and the little calculation we posted the other day. This is a pretty daring move just hourse before the official relase of Star Wars: Battlefront 2. Below is the full statement from Oskar Gabrielson, GM, DICE Thank you to everyone in our community for being the passionate fans that you are. Our goal has always been to create the best possible game for all of you – devoted Star Wars fans and game players alike. We’ve also had an ongoing commitment to constantly listen, tune and evolve the experience as it grows. Star Wars Battlefront 2 Community Manager Apologizes for Angering Players

There has been a lot of drama in the Star Wars Battlefront 2 community in the past few days. Some of it was regarding a post that EA community manager Mat Everett made on Twitter that ticked a lot of people off. He says the tweet was “taken out of context” but many who had purchased the game believed he was insulting them over their complaints about the game. Like we said, drama! So, what actually went down? Star Wars: Battlefront 2 has been in the headlines a lot lately, and not for very good reasons, honestly. It was recently reported that it could take up to 40 hours to unlock even a single hero in the game without purchasing loot boxes, leaving players to feel like it’s a money sink. Some have criticized EA for what they are calling predatory microtransaction practices. In fact, the debate over this has become so…

Developers Blame EA for Star Wars Battlefront 2 Controversy

Speaking of the big Star Wars Battlefront 2 controversy of the past couple of days, more and more details are emerging and no one seems to want to admit blame for anything that’s happening. Players were enraged days before the official release (Nov 17th) because of the multiplayer monetization methods that are being called aggressive and predatory. First, it had loot boxes, which people weren’t keen on. Then, they tried to modify the loot box system to calm the angered fans, but they may have even made things worse. As review copies made their rounds, details came out about the game that includes Star Wars Battlefront 2’s wildly expensive hero/villain unlocks, requiring countless hours of play in order to amass enough credits to purchase just one character. The restrictions that were uncovered, combined with EAs poor solution to the backlash just made it worse. So, before the game even officially…

It will take 4,528 hours of gameplay (or $2100) to unlock all base-game content in star Wars: Battlefront 2

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 has made headlines, not just for its stunning visuals and epic multiplayer battles, but also for the staggering amount of time (or money) required to unlock all of its base-game content. If you’re dedicated enough to play through everything without spending a dime, you’re looking at 4,528 hours of gameplay. Alternatively, if you’d rather speed up the process, it will cost you around $2,100. Less then it will cost you to play on casino-utan-svensk-licens.com. This article breaks down these eye-popping figures and explores how the grind or the price tag shapes the player experience in Battlefront 2. A Breakdown of the 4,528 Hours The enormous 4,528-hour figure isn’t a random guess. It’s based on some basic math and the game’s reward structure. Here’s how it adds up: To unlock all Star Cards and upgrades, you need to either earn them through loot crates or directly upgrade…

EA removed RNG progression system for Star Wars Battlefront II, rebalanced loot crates

EA and DICE have announced that they have made changes to crates and progression based on player’s feedback. According to the press release, the beta gave the team a chance to test all of its systems in action and tune things up for better balance. As such, Epic Star Cards, the highest tier of Star Cards available at launch, have been removed from Crates. Here’s what I’ve realized from this entire P2W controversy. Most gamers are people with lots of time and not a lot of money, or at least not a lot of money they’re willing to spend on games. Most of them also want to retain whatever advantages they can, but don’t like it when the tables are turned on them and someone has an advantage over them. How do I know this? Simple. Because people aren’t remotely bothered by the notion that Player X has an advantage…

Spoiler Alert Battle Front 2 takes players straight into the action, just like a CAD casino. The game kicks off somewhere towards the end of Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. This is the part just before the rebels are able to penetrate the Empire’s defences and destroy the Death Star. If you are one of those players who always want to be…

Star Wars Battlefront II Builds High Hopes

There is no shortage of competition in the AAA video game industry. Although the time between now and the first quarter of 2018 is replete with big titles coming out, Electronic Arts remains confident that it can deliver on high hopes with Star Wars Battlefront II. Last month, EA CEO Andrew Wilson expressed a positive outlook for the game, stating it was “coming together really, really strong” and praised the reception of both the single-player and multiplayer modes. Optimism is to be expected – it would be strange for Wilson to express doom and gloom – but EA has not changed its estimation of selling 14 million units despite all the optimism. Whether or not you agree with it substantively, Battlefront I got a lot of criticism. For Wilson to say now that EA has presumably fixed the worst aspects of Battlefront I and feel “very energized” about the direction…

Battlefront Cinematic – A Tale of Two Friends

War is hard. Real life is hard. If there’s one thing we know about the Star Wars Universe, it’s that it mirrors real life in a variety of ways. Battlefront II: E3 and EA’s eSports Aspirations

It may not have yet been totally embraced by the mainstream, but every year eSports edges closer to that level with broadcasters showing major tournaments and the concept genuinely becoming big business.
