Star Wars Episode VII Rumors

Here we are with some more Star Wars VII rumors and the first good point to bring up is that the number of these rumors that are actually proven to be true are few and far between. However, since all we are doing is waiting for the movies to release anyway, what harm is there in following along with some potential rumors? First up we have a tidbit from Cinema Blend that Saoirse Ronan might be coming on for a “mystery role” in the film: Virtually none of the rumors about Star Wars: Episode VII have been confirmed, but a few have been repeated so many times they’re starting to feel more true, like buzz that the original cast will return or that a teenage girl will be among the main new characters. It’s that second rumor that seems most interesting on the heels of a new rumor from Latino…

Star Wars: Episode VII To Shoot On 35mm

J.J Abrams has decided to shoot “Star Wars Episode VII” on film. Cinematographer Dan Mindel revealed that the new film would be shot on 35 mm film instead of the digital format often utilized to film major blockbusters in the modern era. He added that the the film would shot on Kodak stock color negative 5219. With the past two “Star Wars” films shot digitally, the news certainly came as a surprise. George Lucas introduced the digital age with “Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones,” the first major film to be shot using the digital format, and “Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith” followed the trend. However, the decision could have been made because Abrams has yet to shoot a film on digital. His “Star Trek” films, “Super 8” and “Mission Impossible 3” were all shot on film. The decision could have also been a result of…

J.J. Abrams: ‘Star Wars Episode VII’ will start shooting in early 2014

“Star Wars: Episode VII” is really happening, and director J.J. Abrams has revealed when fans can start scouring the Internet for on-set photos. During the PGA-sponsored “Produced By” conference at the 20th Century Fox lot, Abrams said that production  is set to begin in January of 2014. “”Most likely we are going to be moving to London at the end of the year for the ‘Star Wars’ movie,” he said, according to Deadline. Abrams noted that he would have preferred to shoot “Episode VII” closer to home in LA., but Disney had planned a U.K. shoot even before he signed on to direct. Michael Arndt (“Toy Story 3”) is writing the film, which is expected to be in theaters summer of 2015. “”Django Unchained” producer Reginald Hudlin moderated the Q&A and tried to get the typically tight-lipped Abrams to reveal more about “Episode VII.”” “I think that the thing is…

Star Trek Costume Designer to work on Star Wars VII

How many SWTOR fans are also fans of the Star Wars movies? Are you excited about Star Wars VII? In a fun and interesting (but not necessarily surprising) turn of events, Star Trek and Star Wars come together once again. Michael Kaplan, the man behind Star Trek Into Darkness’ distinctive costume designs, revealed that he is also joining the production crew of Star Wars VII. In an interview with Buzzfeed, the famed designer whose credits include Blade Runner, Star Trek (2009), and Fight Club says, “I’ve just learned I’ll be working on the new Star Wars movie, again with J.J. Everything just got formalized [last week], I haven’t even had the chance to talk to anyone about it all other than to be told ‘welcome aboard.’ Personally, I’m excited about the news. He’s a great costumer and I bet JJ had something to do with bringing him on board the new team. I’ll think…

Star Wars: Episode VII to be filmed in the UK, confirms LucasFilm

Every development in the production of Star Wars: Episode VII is big news around Hollywood and the latest announcement from Disney and Lucasfilm is that the production will be based in the U.K. In an announcement on the official Star Wars site, Licasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy confirmed that all future feature films will be made at Elstree, Shepperton, Leavesden, Ealing and Pinewood Studios in the U.K. These are the same studios that George Lucas and crew used for the previous six Star Wars films. “We’ve devoted serious time and attention to revisiting the origins of Star Wars as inspiration for our process on the new movie, and I’m thrilled that returning to the UK for production and utilizing the incredible talent there can be a part of that,” Kennedy said in a statement. “Speaking from my own longstanding connection to the UK with films like Raiders of the Lost Ark,…

Writing Star Wars w/ Michael Arndt

Michael Arndt was announced as the screenwriter for “Star Wars: Episode VII” back in November 2012, so what has he been doing since then? According to a hilarious new Funny or Die video of his alleged first day writing the upcoming movie’s screenplay, he’s been having a whole lot of writer’s block. Of course, this is all a joke, but Arndt does have some priceless terrible lines to show off here. From “Sir, we’ve identified the nerf herder. He has a herd of nerfs” to “‘Yoda’s alive! How?’ Explain later, I will,” Arndt’s fake lack of inspiration is a pleasure to watch. The video has become increasingly popular since it was released, and hopefully it will lead to more Funny or Die “Star Wars” videos going forward. It is the first time Arndt has commented in a big way on his involvement in “Episode VII,” even if the clip does…

J.J Abrams talks Episode VII

I’ve been a fan of Abrams for a long time now but these days, when you mention the name JJ Abrams, one question comes out of everyone’s mouths: “When will we learn more about Episode VII?” It’s safe to say that Star Wars fans all over are excited about the new movies and while Abrams was able to work on Star Trek with some level of objectivity, we have to wonder if he will do the same with Star Wars. He is admittedly a big fan and it begs the question of how he will approach this very big task. Empire Online had the chance to sit down with Abrams for a bit and ask him a few questions about Episode VII and his plans for the movie series: “I don’t know because we’re just getting started. So it’s a great question that I hope I’ll have a good answer…

It’s official: Abrams is directing Star Wars VII How does Abrams feel about being selected as the director for Star Wars: Episode 7? UPDATE: This has since been confirmed true by Disney and Lucasfilm. Yay! Rumors have been buzzing the internet since Thursday evening when the news broke that JJ Abrams would direct Star Wars Episode 7, despite his earlier comments that he was not interested in directing the film. However, we’ve been unable to find confirmation from Abrams’ representatives, Disney or Lucasfilm that the rumor is actually true. The news was spread by multiple trade reports, including The Wrap, which has now pulled its Abrams story. The Hollywood Reporter still has their Abrams story up  which says “Sources confirm to The Hollywood Reporter that the Star Trekdirector is negotiating to direct Episode VII, the next installment in the fabled sci-fi franchise.” But this doesn’t tell us who their sources are and with no official confirmation, we cannot be 100% certain it’s not a rumor. Everyone is talking about Star Wars: Episode 7, what it’s going to be about and who will play key roles in the new film in 2015. According to sources linked to the sequel, Harrison Ford is open to bringing Han Solo back to the big screen. Entertainment Weekly Inside Movies has more: “Harrison is open to the idea of doing the movie and he’s upbeat about it, all three of them are,” said one highly placed source, referring to Ford, Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher, the trio that made a hyper-speed jump to global fame on May 25, 1977, the opening night for George Lucas’s original Star Wars film. The actor, now 70, is plenty proud of Indy, Jack Ryan, John Book, and Dr. Richard Kimble but in the past he didn’t disguise his disdain for Solo. “As a character he was not so interesting to me,” the frosty Ford explained in…
