Star Wars Battlefront Sticks To First Person Gameplay?

Fans are becoming desperate to learn more about Star Wars: Battlefront and since EA is holding off on giving an official release date, everyone is crossing their fingers that it will at least have a date for E3. EA has not stated too much about the game and one area that has become a controversial topic is whether or not it will have the ability to play in 3rd person. What EA has stated thus far has made everyone nervous. They said that they will have at least one major FPS per year, starting with Star Wars: Battlefront this year and Battlefield 5 next year. This could be their way of non-officially stating that the game will be solely FPS style. One thing we can all agree on is if they make it FPS with no third person perspective ability in the game, fans are going to be VERY upset….

LoL closed off the year in the number one spot, no big surprise there! The play time for LoL jumped by 30.09% in December. Star Wars Battlefront has Zombie Death Troopers? Here are the Changes We Want

With the latest news and rumors about Star Wars: Battlefront comes many hopes and expectations. With the game being set to release sometime late this year many are praying that there are some major improvements and additions to the series. Campaign Style: Take it to the next level Many players want the new Star Wars installment to have more focus on the campaign mode. Many players enjoy multiplayer shootouts, but for those who enjoy the story and “mission” style, we think EA should focus more on the story portion of the game. It seems that gaming developers are starting to slack on the campaign modes and are focusing more on the online multiplayer experience. This is all great, but there are many people out there who want to play single style; solo. Hopefully, EA will put enough focus on both parts of the game for the sake of every type…

The Spin-Off Movies: What Do We Know?

Ever since we found out that there were going to be standalone movies that focus on a single character in the Star Wars universe, we’ve had tons of questions—who would they center on? Who would be attached to write and direct? Who would be playing our favorite Star Wars characters? Although the first major announcement about these spin-offs came almost two years ago, we still haven’t learned a lot. We have managed to gather a few rumors, though. We’re confident that one of the films will focus on Han Solo, will take place between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. Gary Whitta, writer of The Book of Eli and After Earth, was attached to the project, but left after completing the first draft of the script—though the split seems to be an amicable one, judging by Whitta’s support of Disney and Lucasfilm and director Gareth Edwards‘ public thanks to him for writing….

They have made five awesome predictions and we are crossing our fingers that they are true! If you love Star Wars, which you must if you are reading our post, you NEED to read this story. Here is an excerpt and a link at the bottom. Have fun! It’s that time again to make my educated guesses on what BioWare will attempt to accomplish in the coming year with Star Wars: The Old Republic. In the last Hyperspace Beacon, I gave my grade card for how I think 2014 went, but now I extinguish the Force ghost of Christmas past and get a visit from the blue-glowy of Christmas yet to come. I don’t always get everything…

The Five People You Meet In A Bioware Game

BioWare is known for their huge open-world games with to-die-for graphics, unique characters, and long stories. The bottom line is that you go on missions, long journeys, boss fights, and then you are able to return to your spaceship, castle, or camp to talk to your recruits and friends you made along the way. Keeping this in mind, here are the top five characters that best stand for what BioWare is and shows off their games the best. Bastila Bastila is a beautiful Jedi that and she makes video game relationships seem quite real, plucking your emotional heartstrings along the way. She is the perfect example of how video games can make you feel like you’re actually falling in love. I’m not here to state that Bastila was a particularly unique character. She was, and is, some moonlit, sultry-toned lady Jedi existing solely to pluck the heartstrings of young men slowly…

Episode 7 Hype Escalating – Hasbro Reportedly Working on Line of Toys

As the release date of Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens (and of the new Battlefront title) approaches, everyone is looking to get in on the action. Toymaker Hasbro has apparently prepared an extensive line of Star Wars: The Force Awakens toys, which includes blasters, light sabers, action figures and remote controlled droids. The company hasn’t exactly been keen on making its efforts public, but fans have dug up a list of toys Hasbro are allegedly working on right now. The figurines will be mostly 3.75-inch ones, and there will be a special “Black Series” line of action figures too, aimed at collectors. Alleged photographs of some of the toys were leaked as well, although they’re of somewhat questionable quality, and some of the figurines featured (like that of Chewbacca) are apparently older releases from Hasbro. There are other inconsistencies with the Chewbacca toy featured in the photos: apparently, the…

Origin users reporting unauthorized purchases appearing on their accounts

Origin users are reporting unauthorized game purchases on their accounts, pointing to EA’s platform falling victim to a hack. The reports first surfaced on Reddit and it is unclear as to how widespread this issue is. It could be that just a handful of users had poor passwords and had their accounts hacked, but another major and possible scenario is that Origin itself got hacked as a whole and that the hackers are now using their financial details to make unauthorized purchases. Some are looking at the November hacking of Origin, which was made by group DerpTrolling. They reported to have stolen information from over 1.7 million Origin accounts, but nobody really took this threat seriously. Maybe the group actually did get some valuable information, and after seeing the success of Lizard Squad and their hacking of Playstation Network and Xbox LIVE, have decided to take the next step. The…

While we can’t exactly control light to that degree, some exciting research has shown that we can make photons clump together like molecules under very peculiar circumstances. How are we able to boss light around, and what possible application could there be for this technology? Check out the video below. Also remember to check out our article on how Lightsabers work

Three ex-BioWare employees create best video game of 2014

With all the larger sites, picking other games, as the game of the year winner. A small news site called The Fresno Bee, has picked The Banner Saga, as Best Video Game of 2014. “The Banner Saga” is the first-born son of Stoic Studio, an independent game development company created by three former BioWare employees who had worked on “Star Wars: The Old Republic.” The trio followed the increasingly common trend of abandoning steady work at a large studio to start their own company, and they raised nearly $750,000 in a crowd-funding campaign to get them on their way. Its four main strengths: a dazzling art style rooted in a familiar place, a harsh storyline fit for times of war, the resurrection of “Final Fantasy Tactics” combat and the best musical score in video game history. Star Wars Fan Film: Retribution

It’ll be a while until the next Star Wars movie hits theaters, so in the meantime Star Wars fans can watch a half-hour movie created by… a college football player. Called Retribution, the film was written and directed by Georgia University student Chris Conley, who started work on the short video last November. While Retribution doesn’t have the same cast and budget of actual Star Wars movies, it’s actually quite good, even though it was filmed in Conley’s University surroundings. With a simple plot, decent sound and visual effects as well as plenty of shooting and fighting (light saber action included), Retribution shows what can be done with the right amount of Star Wars passion and proper gear. Published on YouTube on Saturday, Retribution has already passed 200,000 views and it’s likely the number will go up as more Star Wars fans discover it. You can watch the fan-made flick…

Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ character names revealed

The names of the new characters that appear in the first Star Wars: The Force Unleashed trailer were revealed today in a very unique way. Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy shared the names with Entertainment Weekly, which posted them in a gallery. But it wasn’t just any gallery. The images from the trailer were put in the format of Topps’ iconic original Star Wars trading cards. They are: BB-8, the rolling, R2-D2-esque robot. Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), who’s seen flying in an X-Wing in the teaser. Kylo Ren (actor unknown), the mysterious hooded figure with the Stephen Colbert-approved lightsaber. Rey (Daisy Ridley), seen riding a speeder across a desert. Finn (John Boyega), the nervous-looking, helmet-less Stormtrooper, described on his card as “on the run.” Now, we don’t yet know if these are the full names for each of these characters, or if any of these names might be aliases (this is…

Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader Join Star Wars: Commander

Star Wars: Commander, the recently released Star Wars strategy game, is going to receive a new update tomorrow. The update is going to include, among some yet to be fully detailed changes, support for two characters that will also be released with the update as part of a limited-time campaign – Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader. They were strangely not included in the game at launch, but will come with special abilities that will bring a sound advantage to players. Star Wars: Commander has been originally released this August in soft-launch mode on the Australia App Store, becoming available in all other regions some time later. The game is a free to play strategy that doesn’t play all that differently from Clash Of Clans and other similar games, as players will have to defend their home bases by using troops and vehicles taken from the Star Wars Universe, as well as Heroes like Han…

After fans got to see the trailer for the upcoming “Star Wars 7”, various questions have popped up regarding the future of the franchise – but one in particular has been quite prominent on most discussion boards. Many fans are wondering to what extent the events from the new film will be related to the upcoming “Star Wars: Battlefront”, and whether there will be any special reason to go see the film if one is primarily interested in playing the game. So far, it’s known for sure that the new game will be official part of the canon. This has been exciting news for fans, as it means that the “Star Wars” universe is about to be expanded significantly, on one hand with the new storyline in the seventh movie, and on the other, with the game. One of the problems that the developers from DICE are facing is that they…

Training cost is a thing of the past in SWToR

Bioware’s community manager Eric Musco, posted a very interesting thread at the official forums today relating to training costs. Musco, responding to a number of fan threads requesting the removal of training costs from the game, decided to take action and bring forward the suggestion to developers for consideration. After discussing the matter internally, they decided to remove training costs all together! So,when you login next week you won’t be required to pay any credits for your training! Eric’s complete post follows below: Hey folks, Let’s talk a bit about training costs for your characters abilities. One thing has become clear from the player feedback in not only this thread, but since launch: players do not like training costs. It is a situation where every level you will see your hard earned credits go to a holographic Hutt doctor in order to make yourself a bit stronger. We have been talking about…

Star Wars TV: A tribute to Ralph McQuarrie

Ralph McQuarrie is a name that doesn’t need any introduction to any Star Wars (SW) fans. He was the concept artist responsible for designing beloved characters of the franchise, such as Darth Vader, Chewbacca, C3-PO and R2D2. In addition, he designed a lot of Star Wars concept paintings like the arrival of R2D2 and C3PO on Tatooine. Aside from Star Wars, McQuarrie has worked on E.T, Close Encounters of the 3rd kind, Indiana Jones Raiders of the Lost Ark, Back to the Future and Star Trek IV. To celebrate his contributions to Star Wars, the official SW website has posted an extremely interesting 40 minute tribute on Ralph McQuarrie’s that’s definitely worth of your attention.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens – the John Boyega Storm Trooper Controversy

According to some, racism has again reared its ugly head in regards to Star Wars lore elements newly introduced by Episode 7. More precisely, what happened was that actor John Boyega was shown as a storm-trooper in The Force awakens teaser, and some of the fans and critics voiced their objections to the presence of a black storm-trooper. Boyega was quick to address the criticism through Twitter, essentially telling everyone to just “get used to it”. While this is definitely not the first (and probably not the last) time that a movie’s cast led to racial back and forth, the question remains whether Boyega’s critics can indeed be considered racist, or they’re just Star Wars canon-nazis. Star Wars fans are notoriously touchy when it comes to tampering with their storylines. The lot critical of the black storm-trooper will probably point it out that all storm troopers were the clones of…

And now something different… Wanderers – a short film by Erik Wernquist

I admit that the short movie below doesn’t have to do anything with Star Wars or The Old Republic. It does show however a future where the ability to travel from planet and planet is the norm just like Star Wars. After all, nothing tells that today’s science fiction isn’t going to be tomorrow’s reality. The short film, depicts a less sci-fi and more realistic future and uses Carl Sagan’s voice to narrate its content. If you got about four minutes to spare, it’s certainly worth a look. You can also find a shot-by-shot description of the movie under this link as well as a link to the creator’s website right here.
