Star Wars Fan Film 2016: Renegade Kenobi

Here’s another Star Wars Fan Film that we really want to share with you. In Renegade Kenobi, Ben Kenobi’s mother encounters a notorious Sith Lord who wants to change the fate of the galaxy. The story is fun and creative, the film is well done for a fan film, and it definitely has a nice Star Wars feel to it. There’s also a fun little Easter egg in there around the 21:00 marker (or a bit after). The lightsaber blade and effects are good looking and were apparently done by hand in After Effects. Sounds like it took awhile but it does look really good. So we don’t want to ruin the story for you. It’s really best that you go ahead and experience it for yourself. You can watch below, as it’s not a super long film. Of course, fans always seem to have varied opinions on these fan…

EA Tries to Schedule Star Wars Games Aligned with Upcoming Movies

EA says it will do its best to align some of its Star Wars games and content with the upcoming Star Wars movies. Honestly, is that really surprising to anyone anyway? It will definitely be in their benefit to do so as this will increase the popularity of the games and the number of people who sign on to play them. At this year’s Star Wars fan experience, Star Wars Celebration 2016, the Rogue One DLC for Star Wars Battlefront was announced. This DLC seems to be entwined with the release of the Rogue One movie. Again, not a surprise at all. This is just smart business. When something’s hot, you want to take full advantage of it from a business perspective. During the company’s most recent earnings call, Wilson was asked about the breadth of the platform and possible marketing opportunity: More broadly thinking about the Star Wars franchise,…

EA Announces Next 4 Star Wars Games: 2018 and Beyond

What does the future look like for Star Wars games? Well, it seems it will be very, very bright. As predicted, we’re not going to see the end of Star Wars games any time soon. With movies plotted to release over the next number of years, we’re also going to see new games – four new Star Wars games, to be exact. EA has a plan and they’ve now released at least some information about that plan to us. As a part of this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), we got short glimpses  at each one of these new games. The teases were part of the EA press conference and as we already know, EA has the publishing rights to Star Wars titles for the next 10 years. So what are they doing with it? Well, here’s what we know about the released titles so far: A Star Wars VR…

What To Do with a Star Wars Hater

So you’ve got that one friend, the one who says he “just doesn’t get” what all the fuss is about. “What’s so great about Star Wars?”, he says. Or maybe he goes one step further into actual Hater Mode and starts bashing on the films or the franchise. There’s likely a friend like this in ever group (unless you’ve already purged your group of this traitor). So what can you do about? Sure, it’s okay to accept one another’s differences. We know that not everyone will like the same things and not everyone will love Star Wars as much as you might (although we cannot imagine why). Differences in people make the world go round and that is something to be celebrated. However, if you’re dealing with a friend or family member who just doesn’t “get” your Star Wars obsession, it might be time for an intervention. You can try…

We try to bring you the latest and greatest about Star Wars films, Star Wars games and everything else that Star Wars fans will love. We hate having to report on the disappointments but sometimes it happens. Right now, Star Wars Rebels is really letting their fans down. They’re going down a path that true fans just can’t follow and it’s heartbreaking for those who truly care about Star Wars, Rebels and Jason Ward, editor-in-chief of MakingStarWars.net really explains it best for all the fans. ““Star Wars Rebels has really disappointed me. I feel like just closing the door on it and sticking to the films, comics, and novels. In a day and age when people torrent so much television, one would assume the consumers that refuse to take those paths would be respected, revered, and rewarded by the content creators. Star Wars Rebels has done the exact opposite this week.” So what exactly happened?…

Star Wars: Republic Commando – The Darkest Star Wars FPS

If you remember Star Wars Republic Commando, you know that it’s not only one of the most amazing Star Wars FPS games but it was also the darkest. There are two things that have occurred in the last couple of months to give us a reminder that Star Wars Republic Commando was one of the most influential Star Wars shooter games ever. First off, there is now Halo 5 Guardians and its brand new feature, squad commands, which owes quite a bit to Republic Commando’s gameplay. And this month , Star Wars Battlefront was released, which is the franchise’s first FPS since 2005. When Republic Commando was released it dished out one of the darkest storylines that has been told in Star Wars. Republic Commando was put on shelves for fans to enjoy at an interesting time during LucasArts history. When The Force Unleased was put out in 2004 it became…

The studio of Visceral is most popular for making the third person shooter series that is Dead Space. Not too long ago, EA went on a spree to hire all-stars that are in the gaming industry. Star Wars Battlefront Devs Promise “Very Different” Single-Player Campaign

During a recent interview with The Guardian, Patrick Bach, DICE’s general manager was able to respond to many different questions from fans about the new and upcoming game Star Wars: Battlefront. Some of the answers didn’t exactly answer questions directly, but there is now a clearer picture on what Star Wars: Battlefront will actually look like. There is one major question that fans have been repeatedly asking and its why aren’t there any space battles in the new Battlefront game. Bach responded by saying: “There’s a lot of stuff we didn’t have time for, but we’ve picked the coolest moments, the ones that made most sense for multiple people playing together.” He also stated: “One design philosophy we always have is that we want different people to play together – we want flying vehicles with ground-based troops, we want to mix and match different types of gameplay on the same…

Star Wars: Battlefront Delights, Raises Questions/Concern at E3

Like last year, DICE, the developer behind one of the most hotly anticipated gaming titles of the Star Wars Universe, Star Wars: Battlefront, made use of E3 to add further hype to the product it’s currently working on and to showcase the progress that’s been made. The work-in-progress footage that was shown this time around was captured off a PS4 and – although impressive- it gave rise to some controversy and concern among fans in regards to a number of performance issues and game features. Most of the “problems” which apparently surfaced in this year’s E3 showing could probably be attributed to the overly impressive footage released back in April, the one about the battle in Endor’s woods, which was in-engine footage indeed, but it wasn’t in-game footage and the differences are indeed quite significant. The Endor footage was set to a totally different tune: it was rendered at a…

Nolan North: Visceral’s Star Wars Game to be Like Uncharted

At MetroCon 2015, Nolan North did a Q&A session. He talked about Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End mainly but he also game some clues on the current Star Wars game that Visceral is working on. The most interesting part of the interview is when he gave details about the type of Star Wars game that Visceral is working on. He explained what Amy Hennig is currently working on. Amy Hennig is not at Naughty Dog any longer and is working on writing the story for the new Star Wars game. She stated that the game she is currently working on will “reboot a brand new Star Wars franchise.” It will also be done in the same style of Uncharted. The choice of words that North used is quite interesting. Rebooting a new franchise could mean Visceral has decided to create a game close to Star Wars 1313. However, that game…

Star Wars Battlefront Won’t “Feel Like or Play Like” Battlefield, Discusses Space Combat

Some Star Wars fans have been concerned that Star Wars: Battlefront will be no more than Battlefield with a Star Wars theme. According to DICE producer Jesper Nielsen, this is not the case at all. Mr. Nielsen goes by “TheBikingViking” on Reddit. Nielsen responded to Star Wars fans on Reddit about the concerns over similarities between games. He stated that they may share some similarities, but they will stand out alone from each other well. Nielsen addressed a concern from a gamer who felt he was “robbed” by purchasing Battlefield Hardline. “I simply don’t get the Battlefield re-skin comment; from what we’ve shown, in what way does it look like Battlefield? Are you seeing tanks, lots of destruction, etc? This will not feel like or play like Battlefield. That’s never been our intention. Its fine you’re disappointed. Ok, so from what you’ve heard and seen, the game is not what…

Why Star Wars Battlefront Snubbed The Prequel Trilogy

DICE decided to let fans know why Star Wars: Battlefront will not include the prequel trilogy of movies. Jesper Nielson, Star Wars: Battlefront’s producer, spoke up on Reddit and told fans why the game doesn’t include the prequels or Clone Wars. “Sometimes you have to make choices, and those choices may be hard. We are the ones making the game and have to making hard choices sometimes. One of them was to focus solely on the Original Trilogy. The reasoning I’d rather have someone like Figge comment on” The reason for this may have something to do with DICE being on a strict time constraint. Star Wars: Battlefront really needs to be released this year because of all the hype surrounding the new Star Wars movie, The Force Awakens. If the game became delayed to 2016, sales wouldn’t be as great. Mr. Nielson decided to also talk about the Star…

More Cancelled Star Wars Games

In the land of Star Wars games, many never make it to be played and enjoyed. It’s a cold, hard truth of the industry and one that we have seen happen time and time again, to the frustration of many onlooking fans. We experienced this with Star Wars 1313 and now you can add a cancelled, complete Rogue Squadron game for the Wii to the list. A recent interview on IGN’s podcast “Nintendo Voice Chat” we hear from Julian Eggebrecht, President of Factor 5 (now defunct) about where his team was at working on different Star Wars games for multiple platforms. In this interview, Eggebrecht says, “As you might remember, it leaked from LucasArts that we were working on a trilogy compilation, and that was actually for the [original] Xbox.” This trilogy was to contain: Star Wars: Rogue Squadron Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader Star Wars Rogue Squadron…

Rumor: A Star Wars Trilogy Of Obi-Wan Kenobi Movies In Development

What would you think of a trilogy of Obi-Wan Kenobi films? I think I’d be interested in seeing it, in hopes they don’t mess it up and that it’s actually interesting. We talked before about the new Star Wars films being in development and how there were talks of many more Star Wars films and shows in the works. Could this rumor be of one of those? According to movie website Cinelinx, a rumor is going around about the making of three Obi-Wan movies set betweenRevenge of the Sith and A New Hope. If Disney and Lucasfilm are making such a series, it would definitely be of interest to Star Wars fans. When elaborating of what they films would be about, it was said that they would be interconnected but also able to stand alone as independent films (think like James Bond). The unnamed source of the rumor says that Lucasfilm already…
