The world of Star Wars canon is a rich a busy one at all times apparently, as there are always people plotting and scheming, looking for various ways to further the stories of the characters and their offspring, thus creating opportunities for more games, movie episodes and generally: more Star Wars action. Chinese mobile game company, MGE, said that Star Wars: Commander has become a No. 1 hit in China, generating more than 1 million downloads in just four days. This is a huge sign that Western content is popular in China and that the love for Star Wars is truly universal. The Chinese love Star Wars as much as we do. Venture Beat goes on to explain a little more about this: Licensed from Disney, CMGE (China Mobile Games and Entertainment Group) tailored this Clash of Clans-like strategy game for the Chinese market and promoted on the many app stores in that country. Star Wars Video Games are Rocking the Charts

Star Wars: Battlefront has sold over 12 million units and with the hit movie, The Force Awakens still killing it in the box office, it’s probably going to make the sales of Star Wars video games only go up even more. While Star Wars: Battlefront has gotten some less-than-stellar reviews, that hasn’t stopped tons of people from buying it and wanting to try it for themselves. Since its release in November, it’s sold around 12-13 million units, and with its price tag of $55 on average, that means around $660 million in revenue. According to Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter, Electronic Arts EA -0.64% sold approximately 6 million Star Wars Battlefront games in November and an additional 6 million in December. Battlefront doesn’t directly tie into the movie The Force Awakens as far as timeline and content goes but the sheer popularity of the movie could definitely create more people who are interested in playing…

We’ve talked before here about the many cancelled Star Wars games. Between those that have been shut down and those that never made it to production, it’s enough to make a Star Wars fan’s heart break. This is why many of us get so hopeful when a new game is released. Star Wars First Assault was a FPS that was shut down back in 2012. Last night everyone was talking about the American Music Awards (AMAs). I have to admit that I don’t really follow them. I know who all the performers are so I recognize them when I see the highlights scroll past my feed on social media but I don’t actually sit down and watch the AMAs. I’m just not that interested. DICE Sacrificed Resolution For FPS

This past week, EA and DICE opened up the beta for Star Wars: Battlefront for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The PS4 version of the beta runs at 900P and the Xbox One version runs at 720P. With this difference in resolution, it has caused conflict in the community. Star Wars: Battlefront is using the Frostbite 3 engine for its visuals, and on Twitter Johan Anderson, the engine’s technical director, explained why DICE chose to use the lower resolutions on both of the consoles. He also answered a question about using adaptive resolutions and the use of the TAA option in the beta version. Star Wars: Battlefront is looking great on all of the platforms and it seems to be very well optimized.
