New details on Visceral’s Star Wars game

Any future Star Wars games will be coming from EA since they have taken over the rights to all licensed Star Wars games. Currently, Star Wars: Battlefront is being developed by DICE and they are known for their extremely popular Battlefield series. So far from what everyone has seen of the new game, it looks to be great. Visceral Games, which is also part of EA, is working on a Star Wars game. The studio of Visceral is most popular for making the third person shooter series that is Dead Space. Not too long ago, EA went on a spree to hire all-stars that are in the gaming industry. The most popular hires were Jade Raymond and Amy Hennig. Hennig is known for working at Naughty Dog while it was developing the first three Uncharted games and she was the head writer that was working on the story. She is…

Darth Vader Will Be In Star Wars: Rogue One

Soon, we should be learning a little bit more about Star Wars: Rogue One during Comic Con, but before there is a new story on Star Wars: Rogue One, we have found out that Darth Vader will be appearing in Gareth Edwards’ Star Wars Anthology film. We have found out that Darth Vader will be making an appearance in Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One, however he will not be the film’s main enemy. The dark lord will be appearing behind the scenes mainly and will appear onscreen as well. One thing we don’t know is if his character will be appearing in person or during the story at some point. No one is sure who will be the main villain in Star Wars: Rogue One. One contender for the role are Grand Moff Tarkin, who is the commander of the Death Star in Star Wars: A New Hope. However, sources…

‘Star Wars: Infinity’ to match tone of ‘Episode 7’

The news of Star Wars: Infinity was not much of a surprise to many people in the video gaming world. Disney has a long history of adding relevant new characters to their Infinity franchise and with the release of the new Star Wars film this year, this news didn’t come as a surprise. The journey to creating the new game meant that Disney Interactive had to work closely with Lucasfilm to create something that would please Star Wars fans. Both Lucasfilm and Disney have stated that the collaboration has went smoothly so far but having to find common ground is sometimes difficult. One challenge was the release of the trailer back on May 5th. “We didn’t know, on the Infinity team, what the tone of Episode Seven is, so when we went through and were doing [the trailer for the game], the tone was really off,” says John Blackburn, senior…

Star Wars: Battlefront will allow you to select different character heads

One of the biggest changes that we see so far in the upcoming Star Wars: Battlefront game is that it will allow for more customization options, when compared to the older games. After watching the reveal trailer we found out that it will offer customizable loadouts to give you a specific playing style and it will also offer emotes for your use. EA Star Wars tweeted out that not only will there be loadouts and emotes but you will also be able to customize your character heads. In the reveal trailer we see the Ishi Tib, Human Rebels, and the Sullustan, and all of these will most likely be customizable. However, we wonder if The Empire will be part of the customizable group. How will it work if they are customizable? It would not seem too real if you see a stormtrooper walking around with an imperial commander hat on. Many…

Are the recent free Star Wars games worth your time (and money)?

macworld.com posted an interesting story earlier this month, discussing the value of the new free Star Wars Games that has been up in the media over the last few years. The story is actually most about the new game called Star Wars: Galactic Defense, but the writer also takes a few shots at Star Wars: Commander. Until recently, the top Star Wars game available on the App Store was the cute and undeniably charming Tiny Death Star, an official spinoff of the immensely popular Tiny Tower that made a building management simulation feel light and breezy. But Disney suddenly pulled the game in October, leaving a potential void for Star Wars fans seeking a worthwhile free-to-play iPhone or iPad experience. But a couple of contenders have emerged of late, and both tackle different kinds of familiar mobile strategy genres. Disney’s own Star Wars: Commander uses Clash of Clans as a…

Star Wars Retro games: Star Wars Episode I: Jedi Power Battles

I remember purchasing this game when it first came out and I fell in love with it. I would play for hours on end and never get tired of it. In this game, you choose from one of five Episode I-era Jedi to run, jump, slash, and use the Force with through the game’s ten levels. Each Jedi has his or her own Force powers and special items. For instance, Obi-Wan Kenobi has a forward dash-and-slash move and uses thermal detonators, while his teacher Qui-Gon Jinn produces a Force shock wave and tosses around pulse grenades. No matter which character you control though, you play through the film’s plot as if you were Obi-Wan or Qui-Gon, from the scene where the trade council tries to poison them to the final battle with the notorious evil Sith Darth Maul. The gameplay is a refined version of that found in Star Wars: Episode…

‘Star Wars: Legends’ Gets a Trailer

““Star Wars: Episode VII” comes out December 18, 2015 and the Star Wars Expanded Universe is shifting into the “Legends” timeline. This means many of the stories we have all known and treasured about Star Wars are not likely to make it into the newest films. This is a new era of Star Wars and some are happier about it than others. However, Big Shiny Robot has something pretty cool for us. It’s the Star Wars Legends trailer from Marc Rienzo. Big Shiny Robot says: And to be honest, this is probably one of the coolest fan cut trailers of EU material I’ve ever seen. It was cobbled together over the last couple of years from many, many different sources. I loved seeing bits of “Wing Commander” and other movies like that in here. Basically, this trailer is what this universe might have looked like on the big screen. It’s…

Star Wars Retro games: X-WING Collectors’ CD-ROM

No one can really deny that the Rebellion picked the tough road when they decided to rise up against the numbers and might of the Empire, unless of course you argue that good always triumphs over evil. Unfortunately, unless you’re Luke Skywalker himself, X-Wing will quickly prove this to be a rare case. It’s one of the hardest flight combat sims ever made, and it’s filled with odds and situations that will make you wonder more than once if you’re playing for the wrong team (and should the call of the Dark Side become too strong, you can even defect, by purchasing TIE Fighter). But as difficult as it may be, X-Wing is also one of the most addictive and beloved combat sims you can hope to find. Confirmed Star Wars fan status is not required. Provided you have even a passing tolerance for playing what is essentially a combat…

May the schwartz be with you: Sheen Wars: Darth Sheen is Winning

Youtube User DarthBaleDotCom has busted out a mashup of Charlie Sheen’s now-historic rants (with a little vocorder added) with Darth Vader’s historic entrance in the Star Wars saga. I was expecting to hate this. But it’s a wonderfully refreshing way to relive all those classic Sheen soundbites from so long, long ago. See our bi-winning superstar playing as the Darth Vader. Darth Sheen has tiger’s blood and Adonis DNA. Darth Sheen argues with his henchmen and orders stormtroopers about saying: “We are high priest Vatican assassin warlocks!”” He also has a confrontation with Princess Leia which finishes with Darth Sheen blasting: “I’m done, it’s on, bring it!”” Darth Sheen also has an argument with one of the commanders of the Death Star. In the Two-and-a-Half Men star’s unmistakable voice the masked figure shouts: “I’m so tired of pretending my life isn’t b****ing and perfect and winning. “I’m just going to…

The lost scenes of Star Wars: A New Hope

At Star Wars Celebration V, George Lucas finally made the big announcement that the entire Star Wars saga would be released in a Blu-Ray box set in Fall 2011. Speaking about what will be included, Lucas said, “They’ll be different kinds of additional material,” adding, “I think you’ve seen enough behind the scenes (material) for a lifetime. There’s some really good material that will be included in there, (including) more deleted scenes that you haven’t seen yet.” Lucas said these newly released scenes would be kept separate from the film itself. There is lots of material that never made it into Star Wars:  A new hope floating around the internet. Most of it is in so bad shape that it is almost impossible to see and understand what is going on. Some of the material comes from “the lost cut” which was the first edit of Star Wars, edited not by George Lucas but…

This week’s Friday update brings us a Multiplayer Demo from E3. This demo is an edited versino of the Video G4 hosted a few weeks ago. In this first-glimpse video Dallas Dickinson, the Director of Production, examines the core roles for SWTOR group missions. Dickinson explains the possible functions each class can have: the Trooper can be a tank, the Jedi Knight as an off-tank, the Jedi Consular works primary healing, with the Smuggler covers the DPS and alternate healing. Commander Narlock readies his troops for an Imperial assault. As he does, all four Republic classes; a Jedi Consular, Jedi Knight, Smuggler, and Trooper join together to assist in fighting off the attack. Watch as each player does his or her part to take on the enemies, and beat the Imperial Troopers and Imperial Breach Droids. Is it just me, or is anyone else concerned about the “class = role”…

Planets of Star Wars: Hoth

Hoth was the sixth planet of the remote Hoth system. A desolate world covered with ice and snow, located in the Anoat sector, a rarely-traveled portion of the Outer Rim Territories, it became famous as the one-time location of the Alliance to Restore the Republic’s Echo Base during the Galactic Civil War. It was discovered in 3 ABY by the Empire, causing the Battle of Hoth, a major engagement that destroyed the Rebels’ base and gave them heavy casualties. Description Located on the fringe of the Ivax Nebula in the Anoat Sector of the Greater Javin along the Ison Corridor, Hoth orbited the blue-white star Hoth on a wide elliptical orbit. Beyond Hoth was a large asteroid belt, known as the Hoth Asteroid Field, from which small asteroids regularly broke off, crashing onto Hoth’s surface as meteorites. The planet consisted of a molten metallic core with dichotomous crust. Its surface…

Planets of Star Wars: The Old Republic – Taris

Planets of Star Wars: The Old Republic – Taris

Taris was an urban planet in the Outer Rim Territories. The term Tarisian was used to describe people and products from the planet. The planet’s ecumenopolis quickly developed over a century of prosperity, and as a result the planet suffered from massive overpopulation. Once a galactic nexus, Taris’ importance declined with the introduction of improved trade routes, and the planet rapidly fell into decay. The remainder of the planet’s history was wrought with civil disorder and social unrest. As it turned to industry as a means of compensation for its economic troubles, its oceans became polluted, eliminating the planet’s main food source. Famine spread among the lower classes while the rich hoarded what few supplies remained. The resulting strife led to the Tarisian Civil War, the start of lasting prejudices between the Humanocentric Tarisian nobles and the largely alien underclass. The city became segmented, and the lower classes were banned…
