Star Wars Ep. VII Rumor Crackdown

We’ve been posting some of the most interesting rumors about The Force Awakens over the past few months, but it looks like that news may be slowing down in the near future. J.J. Abrams has expressed his frustration with the number of leaks coming from the Star Wars set, and it’s a safe bet that he’ll be taking a harder line with anyone who appears to be releasing information. It’s not just Abrams that’s been going after the sources of those leaks—Lucasfilm has recently started to crack down as well. A subpoena was issued by a court requiring a user called Darth_Simi to remove some images from Episode VII that he had posted on ImageShack. This is the first legal action that Lucasfilm has taken, and it looks like they’re trying to set a precedent for punishing leakers. Interestingly, there are reports that Abrams has also petitioned Disney to push up the…

Today, GameInformer reported that Shadow Realms, a 4v1 action RPG in development at BioWare Austin, has been canceled. Shortly after this new went out, BioWare Austin GM Jeff Hickman confirmed the news himself. “We’ve made the decision to not move forward with development of Shadow Realms,” wrote Hickman in a post on the official site. He went on to explain that “right now there are other projects for the team to work on within the BioWare studios for the coming year and beyond,” citing Star Wars: The Old Republic as the biggest focus, followed by Dragon Age: Inquisition, the next Mass Effect game, and “other new IP.”” This is unfortunate news for fans who were looking forward to the game and also some may find it disappointing to see so many potential games getting the axe before they ever get to production. The downside here also is that this was to be BioWare’s first original game…

Star Wars Battlefront: Stunning Endor Concept Art Revealed

IGN has revealed some new concept art for upcoming game by DICE: Star Wars Battlefront. IGN also goes on to provide the following details on the game: DICE remains close-guarded with gameplay specifics, but speaking with IGN, Star Wars Battlefront Design Director Niklas Fegraeus explained a bit more of what’s to come when the first-person shooter arrives this fall. “The scale of our maps and modes offer a great variety” depending on the location, Fegraeus explained. Hoth, where the Rebel Alliance fought off invading AT-ATs in snowy plains, will differ in size than the dense woodland of Endor. “We have actually made the decision to specifically tailor certain maps to certain game modes,” Fegraeus continued, “and what we get from that is not only incredibly varied scales, but also gameplay that will allow players to live out some of their most memorable Star Wars battle fantasies.” Related Posts The Samurai Mandalorian…

Star Wars: Battlefront To Be A “Very Large Activity” For Electronic Arts this year

During EA’s third quarter earnings call yesterday, CFO Blake Jorgensen answered questions about Star Wars: Battlefront. Once again it was confirmed that the shooter is due to launch before Christmas 2015. More specifically, the game aims to be “aligned with” Star Wars Episode VII — The Force Awakens, which arrives on December 18. It was also mentioned that DICE will share more about the project in the coming months. Battlefront’s launch this year will be a “very large activity” for EA overall, on level with the company’s blockbuster Battlefield series. “We’re extremely excited about that,” Jorgensen said about Battlefront. “We think there’s huge potential for that title. More to come in the next couple of months on that as more about the movie comes out as well as more about our title comes out. You should consider that a very large activity for us [this year] and a very large…

Star Wars Battlefront: Is THIS How Heroes Work?!

By now we all know that Star Wars: Battlefront does not have an official release date as of yet, but the people at EA and DICE are working hard on the game right now. When it comes to first person shooter games there have been many changes in the gaming industry. The question is do you think Star Wars: Battlefront  will take on the form of Titanfall for the heroes? If DICE did follow the way Titanfall works each player will have an opportunity to play as a hero since the game is set on a timer. This would make it fair for every player in the game, but there are different ways DICE could make the game work. A player could become the hero once they have enough points, just like it works in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and their killstreak formula. However, this can make it where…

Star Wars Battlefront business forecasts

The upcoming first person shooter Star Wars: Battlefront is predicted to be a huge seller for EA Games and the Star Wars franchise. With the release of Star Wars Episode VII during the New Year, it should help raise the popularity of the new game even more. Taking a look back to 2005 when the first Battlefront game was released it was a hit amongst many and rated 6th in overall sales, according to NPD. The new Battlefront game should be much better in comparison to the 2005 version with the new updated technology we have now. It will most likely be appealing to casual gamers and hardcore gamers alike, making the number of potential sales to rise even more. It could surpass the sale of other major first person shooters, such as Battlefield 4 and Destiny, which will release this year. Seeking Alpha has some insight on how they believe the…

BioWare responds to the current exploit “going around”

Eric Musco has taken on the forums, and explained that BioWare are aware of an exploit taking place in game,  and that they will be taking appropriate action against those who have abused it. It is BioWares current plan to implement a fix for this issue next Tuesday, January 13, 2015. The Current Exploit “Going Around” | 01.07.2015, 07:28 PM Hey folks, Normally when an exploit exists, it is our policy to remain quiet until the issue is fixed. The reasoning behind that policy is that if we talk about or acknowledge an exploit, it can create a situation where we draw more attention to it. This can include people who didn’t previously know about it and can unintentionally make the issue more widespread. Without being specific, there is an exploit which has been present for a couple of weeks, that unfortunately has become more widespread than we typically see. It is being…

Star Wars: Battlefront Could Be Using Battlelog Service

attackofthefanboy.com noticed something interesting over at uprise’s website. Uprise is the company that developed the Battlelog service for Battlefield 4. Battlelog is a social networking service that allows gamers to see their statistics, read up on the latest news, customize their weapons and more. The system runs on on Android or iOS devices. Evidence that Battlelog will be coming to Star Wars: Battlefront can be seen on the official website forUprise.  It’s possible Uprise could be working on something different for Star Wars: Battlefront, but the Battlelog service seems like the most logical thing. Maybe some type of other companion app is heading to Star Wars: Battlefront if it’s not Battlelog. It’ll be cool if a futuristic looking map would be utilized in the game. For now, we’ll just have to wait on official announcements for Star Wars: Battlefront from DICE or EA for more information. Little is known about…

Moviepilot has come to the conclusion that Star Wars: Battelfront will have Space to Ground Combat. Check out the full article over at Moviepilot.com: Star Wars: Battlefront has yet to receive a release date for 2015, but we’re sure it’ll be hitting the Xbox One, PC and PS4 during the Holiday season of next year. A Star Wars christmas is all that we could ask for (oh wait…we got that film and it was horrendous…)! There is certainly a great deal that we expect from the Battlefront series, and from a Star Wars NextGen game made by DICE and EA. Each player is going to carry their own preferences and expectations for the title, but there’s certainly one thing that we all desire: Space to…

Many fans are wondering to what extent the events from the new film will be related to the upcoming “Star Wars: Battlefront”, and whether there will be any special reason to go see the film if one is primarily interested in playing the game. So far, it’s known for sure that the new game will be official part of the canon. This has been exciting news for fans, as it means that the “Star Wars” universe is about to be expanded significantly, on one hand with the new storyline in the seventh movie, and on the other, with the game. One of the problems that the developers from DICE are facing is that they…

Star Wars Battlefront: Lessons from Star Wars 1313

We have talked at length here about Star Wars games- those in the past, current games and games of the future. Looking back at 2012 (it seems like just yesterday) we can recollect on several Star Wars games, including the much-anticipated Star Wars 1313 that would never become a reality. Remember the trailers? Remember E3 and the gameplay footage that got us all excited? Then it was all ripped away from us as we were told that we would not be seeing this game after all. Movie Pilot has some theories that 1313 will live on in a way by potentially influencing Star Wars Battlefront. “But what about Star Wars 1313? Can it leave behind any information for us? A lasting legacy? Can it show us what sort of gameplay we could expect from Star Wars Battlefront 3? Maybe, or maybe not, either way, I just want to look at…

Rumor control: Bioware working on a separate Star Wars title featuring Chewbacca?

JunkieMonkeys.com posted a very interesting story about Bioware recently. As you might remember, Electronic Arts announced earlier this year that it had acquired the rights to developing Star Wars games. EA has also announced the developers working on these titles – Visceral (Developers of Dead Space series), DICE (developer of Battlefield series) and Bioware. While we have heard a lot about DICE’s efforts on Star Wars Battlefront, very little information has been released about Bioware’s separate title….until now. The good people of Junkiemonkey noticed the Craigslist ad posted below: We are a talent search team partnering with Bioware games and recruiting video game talent for new Star Wars game launching next year! We are inquiring for a Chewbacca growl and grunts for a small video game role. Offering $150 for 30 minutes of your time. Episode 7 Ready for Post Production?

According to Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy, filming on Episode 7, the much-awaited Star Wars movie sequel, is about three weeks from being completed. Most of the footage is apparently done, and after the actual camerawork is finished, the movie will enter post-production, where the special effects, the sounds and the score shall be added, which will apparently take about another year to complete. Given that the above said announcement was made about a week ago at the Industrial Light and Magic Studio opening in London, it is safe to assume that the movie is indeed on track: great news for fans of the series as well as for the fans of the upcoming Battlefront title currently under production by DICE. While the actual plot tie-ins between the Episode 7 and Battlefront will be few and far between, the release of the two titles will apparently be timed to more or less…

Battlefront 3 Footage Available?

Well…yes and no…you see, apparently, well before DICE got the fate of one of the world’s most anticipated titles in gaming to fall into their laps, another crew had a run at Battlefront, and they actually put together a nearly-finished product, which – due to a set of unfortunate circumstances – never really got the see the light of day, or rather that of the screens of computer/console users world-wide. The company behind the effort was Free Radical, and according to some, they were about 99% finished with the project when they were forced into administration and when they finally closed for good in December 2008. Later, Crytek picked up the enterprise and transferred the team to various other projects, as Battlefront was cancelled, up until DICE came into the picture earlier this year to step up to the plate. Now then, why exactly is this bit of the game’s…

Star Wars Battlefront Progress Report

After all the hype DICE’s upcoming Star Wars: Battlefront generated with its brief but spectacular E3 trailer, the noise around the game has died off, especially after it became clear that its release would not happen this year. Still, those who keep an eye on the news regarding the title, will pick up bits and pieces of information dropped by the parties involved in the making of the game one way or another. Representatives of one website apparently got to take a look at an early version of the game, and they were quick to let the hungry community have a couple of crumbs of much-needed information. Apparently, the new Battlefront will have a higher number of high-definition weapons than its predecessors, and there will be a definite strategy involved in wielding and using these weapons. The weapons will apparently dictate the fighting style on the part of the player,…

Drones Reveal Various Episode VII Details

These days, not much surfaces about the newest Star Wars game currently under production at DICE studios, but when it comes to the actual movie also in the works, Episode VII, producers find it much more difficult to keep everything under wraps. Apparently, the age of drones makes keeping large props out of the spotlight downright impossible, especially if the crew – like the Episode VII team – fails to even set up a more or less rudimentary drone shield. Indeed, fans operating drone aircraft have spotted a number of interesting props at the scene of the shoot, about 50 miles outside of London. The said props were a half-finished Millenium Falcon, as well as an X-wing fighter. Although these bits of information don’t exactly say a whole lot about the story so they can be hardly considered spoilers, the producers would obviously prefer to keep such things out of…

Cancelled Star Wars Battlefront III Models

We’re excited about the upcomming Star Wars: Battlefront  (at least I know I am) and this is why I love bringing you updates, news, rumors and pretty much anything else related to help pass the time until we actually get to report on the game itself. As you know, there were plans for the game that are now cancelled as DICE takes over production. I feel confident in DICE’s ability to bring us a fantastic game and I don’t think they are rushing the title or going for a money grab (easy to do, knowing how badly we all want it). But if you’re curious, you can take a look at the cancelled models that showcase what it would have looked like. Will Star Wars: Battlefront Release Line up with Star Wars: Episode VII Release?

Fans are talking about the release of Star Wars: Battlefront. That’s nothing new. We’re all excited about the game and anxious for updates about when we’ll get to check it out for ourselves (finally). Reports say that development may be delayed on this game as DICE has stopped working on upcoming releases. We don’t mind waiting for it, honestly, as long as we get the game and not another disappointment or cancelled title. The internet was abuzz today with rumors about the release and the possibility that it will line up with the release of Star Wars: Episode VII. Will it be awhile before we get the chance to play this highly anticipated game? Most signs point to yes. However,  Viktor Lundberg (Developer and soundtrack musician) recently posted a Twitter message mentioning that he was looking forward to “playtesting” the game-playable alpha and beta versions of the game are available internally,…

No Qui-Gon Jinn Appearances Planned for Episode VII

Although Liam Neeson would apparently be happy to reprise his Star Wars role as Qui-Gon Jinn, he has not been asked to appear in the upcoming Episode VII. In a recent interview, the actor said he would be happy to slip back into the iconic Star Wars character if needed, and that he certainly wouldn’t want someone else to pick up the role. He also admitted though that he knew nothing about the story to be featured by Episode VII, but he suspected it was built around a different generation of characters, one that his own came well before. Given the flexibility of the Star Wars universe however, and the way it can be expanded, there’s little the producers couldn’t pull off if they wanted to in a way that would fit perfectly into the lore. If they wanted Neeson back in the movie, they could bring him back as…
