Updates on 2.10 Engineering Sniper / Saboteur Gunslinger Changes

Rob Hinkle have been active on the forums, updating players about Engineering Sniper and Saboteur Gunslinger Changes, comming in game update 2.10 Here is a consolidated list from the forums: Post #1 Focused Feedback Discussion: Engineering Sniper / Saboteur Gunslinger | 08.21.2014, 09:37 AM Hey Gang,Back from vacation and the first thing I see is a big mess I made before I left. I just wanted to hop in here really fast to make a comment on the Plasma Probe damage adjustment from testing versus the patch note. The short answer is: I screwed up the patch note and the 22% was from a previous iteration of changes that we were testing and decided we didn’t like. The values you guys are seeing on PTS is what our current target is, so let’s move forward with the discussion based on that number being the “real” number and talk about any further…

Status Update on Hood Toggle

Eric Musco posted an update on the official forums yesterday regarding hood toggle. Eric replied to a user named Pingonaut who had the following question: It has been more than two years since the game launched, and that’s two years of players asking for a way to toggle the hoods on their outfits. In this Community Q&A from February 2012 we were told that the hood toggle likely be in the next major patch after Game Update 1.2. Delays are acceptable, this is not. He even goes so far as to say that the functionality will be available for our companions, as well. This means that the feature was being tested and worked on enough to where they could release such information. If there were problems or bugs with the hood toggle option that kept it from being released, why not tell us? Why just leave us in the dark,…

Update on Area Transition Issues & Unscheduled Maintenance 6/13

BioWare will be taking down the servers and perform an Unscheduled Maintenance tomorrow. After this maintenance Group Finder Operation queue from 16-Player to 8-Player will no longer be available do to technical issues. I really hope we do end up getting more details from Bioware about what exactly is happening. But to me it sounds like their servers just buckled under the pressure of all of the instances it had to spawn (most likely due to how many people were queueing up for something new) of a large area (an operation) and 16 people to track. Post #1 TaitWatson Area Transition Issues | 06.12.2014, 12:23 PM Hey everyone, We have identified a fix to the ongoing area transition/instancing and connectivity issues that players have been seeing since the release of Game Update 2.8. In order to alleviate these issues, we are going to be doing unscheduled maintenance tomorrow morning (Friday, June…

Have an idea for a Warzone? Share it with a Dev!

The developers over at BioWare are asking for player input for upcoming warzones.  The idea is awesome, and I love the fact that the dev’s want player input for these kinds of things. I still have the feeling that we came up with the huttball idea back in the days, and it will be interesting to see what other creative ideas the player community can come up with. Personally I’d love to see warzones along the size and scope of Isle of Conquest or Alterac Valley in World of Warcraft. Something that combines node capture with destructible barriers or NPCs to fight would add some nice variety. You have any ideas for a cool warzone? Let us know in the comments. Below are the official forum posts: Post #1 AlexModny Have an idea for a Warzone? Share it with a Dev! | 03.31.2014, 02:11 PM Hello Warzone Aficionados! We are starting…

Galactic Strongholds forums updates

With the announcement of the new upcoming Star Wars: The old Republic expansion, it was only expected that the official forums would go nuts. So many questions needs answering, and Eric Musco is trying to keep up. Consolidated Bugs List

With a new major game update, comes lots and lots of new bugs. Here is a list of the stuff that the BioWare developers are aware of. Honestly I expected worse or more bugs with this game update, considering how buggy the PTS was, so I am fairly happy about the patch so far! Post 1 Source CourtneyWoods Unintended Patch Download | 10.02.2013, 09:38 AM Hey everyone, I have an update for you. Unfortunately, if you started downloaded the 12 gig patch on Monday, you will have to finish that download. There were multiple different builds that were incorrectly deployed that afternoon and you will have to download the 12 gig download to get the up to date version of the game. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused to those affected. I know this isn’t the ideal solution but this is the only safe fix to the problem other…

BioWare Reading all Posts in Bug Reports Forum

Amber Green made a post in the Bug Reports forum that clarifies that BioWare staff is in fact reading all posts made to the bug reports forum. Even if they don’t reply individually to every post, they are reading them and taking them into account. This is important information to know for all players. Nothing is more frustrating in playing a game than reporting bugs and feeling like the developer and staff doesn’t care or doesn’t even read the bug reports. But BioWare wants you to know that they care about the game and about us. Amber Green says: Often we will post in threads in this forum to gather additional information about something that is reported or to update the status of a particular issue. However, please note that while we will be reading every thread and report in this forum, we will not respond to every thread, and…

Not Everyone Supports SGR in SWTOR

It’s no surprise that not everyone likes same gender romance in SWTOR. It’s been battled before in other games and it has been opposed in SWTOR previously as well. But with the recent update from BioWare about their intentions to add it to the game, there was one forum user who became exceptionally vocal about it Reddit, after being banned from the SWTOR forums for 7 days for “hate speech””. Missandei believes that being gay is an illness. Before we completely jump on the guy, he also says that doesn’t make them bad people; just sick people… His belief is that he doesn’t care if you’re gay if you keep it to yourself and not try to “infect others” but when you try to convince others your gay ways are right, he feels intruded upon. He says, “I am against any promotion and any advertising of the unhealthy behavior such…

Community Q&A: July 27th, 2012

This weeks Questions and answers are up. Nothing really interesting this time. Servers having trouble since 1.3 with chat lag, warzone lags and unscheduled maintenance every three or four days, but the last question makes it sound like server perfomance has actually been improved. So when you’re stuck in the login screen next time or you’re chatting 10 minutes into the future than don’t worry, the server itself is reliable! Check it all out below: Skendra: Question about Legacy! Under Character Perks -> Travel, at 1.2 there was buff for Sprint Speed but locked and now in 1.3 it was changed to Priority Transport. Why? Will Wallace (Senior Designer): There were both internal and external balance concerns about allowing players to purchase upgrades to Sprint speed, especially as it related to advantages in Warzones. We don’t want someone to feel like they have to have an optional purchase to be competitive in PvP….

SWTOR Community Q&A: July 23rd, 2012

Last Fridays Community Q&A were postponed and released yesterday. This time the BioWare devs answers questions about Campaign gear, class balance and other PVP issues. Chimerashot: The way Campaign gear is set up, some DPS classes have the Armoring with more Endurance instead of their main stat. Can we expect this to change /what was the reasoning behind this? David Hunt (Systems Designer): It’s an undesired interaction between the distribution of the mods and the move to set bonuses on the armoring. Future gear provides set mods will use the primary stat over Endurance for all DPS classes. Achyllis: Why don’t cool downs all reset on death in PvP? Austin Peckenpaugh (Senior Designer): Doing this would encourage a couple of things that, so far, we don’t necessarily want to encourage. When you take a position from another player or group of players in a Warzone, holding that position is harder when…

“I could weave a throw rug right now with my eyes closed”

Title is a reference to Demolition Man. This post is pre patch 1.3 so some things have changed. This thing took the player months to unlock, but that’s an artifact quality schematic from every medium armor green schem, plus a few of the blues (Which can be RE’d into even higher artifacts but there is little reason to do that). Redoubt (+Defense) -Anti-Armor (+Defense, +Surge) -Exactitude (+Defense, +Accuracy) -General’s (+Defense, +Presence) -Veracity (+Defense, +Shield) Critical (+Critical) -Endowment (+Critical, +Surge) -Fervor (+Critical, +Accuracy) -Leadership (+Critical, +Presence) -Supremacy (+Critical, +Alacrity) -Tempest (+Critical, +Shield) Overkill (+Power) -Commander (+Power, +Presence) -Expert (+Power, +Surge) -Hawkeye (+Power, +Accuracy) -Rampart (+Power, +Shield) -Vehemence (+Power, +Alacrity) 1: Took about 3 months to grind out the medium armors to get a full set from the starting green schems. 2: Many  have tried selling them on the GTN, but there’s no way you can make money back doing that. The reason there is so…

BioWare Dev blog by William Wallace : Legacy Perks in Game Update 1.3

Senior Game Designer William Wallace posted a developer blog post regarding Legacy Perks in Game Update 1.3.  Basically he breaks down own the Character Perks into four types of unlocks including Advancement Perks, Travel Perks, Companion Perks and Convenience Perks Legacy Perks in Game Update 1.3 Hi, I’m Senior Game Designer William Wallace. In Game Update 1.2, we introduced Legacy Unlocks, a system in which characters across your Legacy could unlock special rewards for reaching different milestones. Since Game Update 1.2 went live, your Smuggler may have learned a new skill from their Sith Inquisitor father, or you might have unlocked new species options for your classes. No matter your personal choices, you have now started to build your very own Star Wars™ legacy. With Game Update 1.3, we are continuing to expand the Legacy system by introducing the new Character Perks system. Character Perks allow you to customize each character in your Legacy,…

Crew Skills and Items in Game Update 1.3

BioWare updated the community blog, with a new post, describing some of the upcoming changes, we can expect happening to items and crew skills when path 1.2 launches. While we have covered most of the the information here before, the blog provides a great summary of the relevant details. Prior to Game Update 1.3, it was only possible to create an Augmented item through a critical crafting success. Augmented items have an additional mod slot, conveniently called an augment. Some of the most valuable items in the game right now are orange shells that have been crafted with an augment slot unlocked, because they have exceptional stat potential with their full complement of mod slots. While these items are cool, they are indicative of a systemic inequity between different types of items. That’s where Augment Tables come in. That covers most of the changes you’ll see for items in Game…

Community Q&A: June 1st, 2012

As always, BioWare had a Community question and answer session this Friday were BioWare developers, and other team members, answers player questions. This week questoins and answers focus mainly on Update 1.3: Allies , ranging from server transfers to Legacy questions etc.  Check it out below, or over at the official thread. Hi everyone, We’re back with a selection of answers to your community questions! Please note that in some cases we’ve combined multiple questions into one, and we that have edited some questions for clarity. As a reminder, we previously suggested a shift in focus in your questions. As development plans are always subject to change, questions about future features will often get vague answers which can be repetitive and sometimes annoying. With that in mind, the development team is more interested in questions about current in-game features or systems or questions about why development decisions were made. You’re still welcome to ask questions…

Q &A for Friday May 28- Ranked Warzones is on track for 1.3!

This week’s Q&A is a special edition because we have great info on the upcoming 1.3 game update. One thing that many players are very excited about is the inclusion of ranked warzones. But that’s not all that we should expect for game update 1.3. Let’s see more of this special edition Q&A to find out. Here’s a snippet: >llesna: Can you please tell us why the upcoming Legacy additions for Game Update 1.3 are character-specific rather than Legacy-wide? Daniel Erickson (Lead Game Designer): Legacy Perks have a different purpose than global unlocks and are specifically designed to enable players to customize each individual character. Since you may not care about Space XP or running the Bonus Series missions on one character it is important that you’re not paying a premium that is calculated at the expense of 8 or more characters all gaining this benefit. This also means the…

David Hunt answers a truck load of augment questions

David Hunt answers a ton of questions, regarding the new agument system, in a recent forum post. Personally I really like that I can R/E green items for the augment kit pieces. to summarize the important stuff: You can add an augment slot to any equip-able green item. Augments require a minimum Augment Slot level. There are 6 tiers. You can add any level Slot to any level item. You get the materials at a constant rate from RE’ing equippable items: 10 items -> 1 augment kit. The material tier corresponds to the tier of the gear RE’d. Extraction costs are reduced 30%. Adding an augment slot using a kit costs between 4.5k – 50k depending on the tier. Other information: Augment kits can be used by anyone. They are made by Armstechs, armortechs, and synthweavers. Now to find the cheapest one to do and stock up on mats. Check…

SWTOR Interviews: Jodi and Patrick from ChewUI.com

I first met Jodi and Patrick on day one of the Guild Summit in Austin. We had a lot of fun, saw a tour of BioWare Austin headquarters, met some other awesome people and Jodi and Patrick came up with one brilliant idea! On the last day of Guild Summit, we said our goodbyes and promised to stay in touch and I was super excited about this idea they had for a new site dedicated to customized user interfaces. We had all just seen the preview of SWTOR update 1.2 and the new UI and we knew that there would be a great need for a site like this. Jodi and Patrick stepped up to the plate and began creating that site on day one. I sat down to talk with them now that the site is complete and functional to find out more about the site, the idea and…

Fresh out of a PvP Team Meeting from Georg Zoeller

Are you happy with SWTOR PvP or like many of us, do you still feel like there are some things missing or lacking? Here’s what Georg Zoeller had to say about a team meeting over PvP at the BioWare headquarters: Hey guys, A few additional notes on this topic, fresh from a meeting with Gabe and the PvP team. (a) Expertise difference between combatants is the single most important factor in time to kill in PvP. Having zero or little expertise on your gear (e.g. pure PvE gear) is the primary reason for people to experience a sped-up time to death in Game Update 1.2. While it was quite viable pre-1.2 to bring your Rakata or Columi gear without any added expertise into PvP, the increased focus on expertise in the PvP track of gear has made it much harder to compete with that equipment compared to even the entry…

The Lost Island Flashpoint Guide

The Lost Island is the new Flashpoint in the Game Update 1.2. If you haven’t had the chance to check it out yet, try to get yourself in a group after you read this guide (so you know what you’re doing). It’s open to both factions and it also has a normal and Hard Mode for level 50 players. It’s a lot of fun and I really like the story that is involved as well. In the story of the Lost Island, we are taken to a hidden island on Ord Mantell where we are called to end experiments by Mad Doctor. So anyway… what’s this Flashpoint all about and how do you succeed in it? First, be aware that this is a Flashpoint full of encounters that require you to move a lot. You want to be ready to move in any instant and don’t just stand around staring…

Devs Admit Players were Right on Warzone Scoring and Rewards

Players have been complaining since the launch of 1.2 that some things just didn’t seem right in PvP. At first, BioWare denied any problem but now, the devs have come forward to address the issue after more investigation. BioWare says they are aware of some of the problems with warzones and that they appreciate the feedback. As usual, they said they are working on a solution to complaints. But is there proposed solution going to be the kind of fix most players are looking for? Lead Game Designer Daniel Erickson had this to say on the forums: Hey folks, Some follow up news from observations of play and feedback over the weekend. In the next couple of days we will be deploying a small patch that will address the following issues: As discussed, minimum medals to gain rewards will go from 3 to 1 to better reward those who are…
