You know how we love the Star Wars fan films. Well, it’s been a while since I’ve been able to bring you a great fan film so I think we are overdue. In this film, Liberation, we learn the story of a prisoner of war trying to negotiate a way out from his captors. The negotiation goes south quickly when he realizes they aren’t telling him the truth and it only gets more interesting from there. It’s just over 11 minutes long so this short will not take up a lot of your time but it definitely will leaving you wishing there was more. It’s a fun little watch and we highly recommend you give it a go for yourself. “It is a time of great peril for the Rebel Alliance. One of its fiercest warriors Vince Nurada has been captured by the Empire and held captive aboard an imperial…

Wrath of the Sith: A Star Wars Fan Film
We love fan films here, or really anything done by Star Wars fans. It’s the premise this very site was founded on. We love Star Wars and we want to share news, thoughts, opinions, and more about Star Wars to other Star Wars fans. You don’t get any more in the spirit of that than with fan films. Even roughly-shot backyard productions can be a lot of fun to watch. They show how literally anyone can get into the world of Star Wars and make it come to life for them. However, with technology and the dedication of fans, we’re seeing more and more professional-grade fan films shot these days and that is definitely something to celebrate. So that’s exactly what we have for you today. Here’s another great fan film that would classify as a short. It’s just under 12 minutes long but it has a great, intriguing story,…
Fan Film: WAY TO THE REBELLION
Here’s a great story from Wong Fu Productions, a personal favorite of mine. In this fan film, Way to the Rebellion, we get the story of two seemingly unlikely heroes who get caught up in the battle between the Empire and the Rebellion. I won’t ruin the plot for you because really, this is a fantastic story. The acting is fluid and natural, the props and costumes are great, the filming and cinematography is professional-grade and the music is awesome too. All around, it’s just a great fan film. It hits all the check marks you want to see from a film like this. The story is intriguing and will leave you wanting more. The Empire is expanding. Now these heroes will join the fight. See the fan film yourself here: Watch Behind the Scenes: https://youtu.be/F1JNySh9zoU Written and Directed by Wesley Chan https://www.instagram.com/thewesleychan Featuring: Brandon Soo Hoo http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1317656/ https://www.instagram.com/brandonsoohoo Chris Dinh https://www.instagram.com/chrisdinh Rachel…
The Real Fans Of The Saga – A Star Wars Fan Reality Show
We love fan projects and this one looks like a great one. A fun look at four different passionate Star Wars fans and how their fandom effects not only family life but everyday life. Here is a very fun project that most Star Wars fans will find exciting. The Real Fans project was filmed at the start of 2015 and followed 4 completely different fans (that are friends) to Celebration Anaheim all through well over a year (including leading up to The Force Awakens and after it’s release). Each Episode will be 15 – 30 mins (actual time per episode TBD after editing) and there will be approx 12 – 17 episodes total (again, TBD while editing) This will be the 3rd project that Filmmakers Cris Macht http://www.imdb.com/name/nm5277601/?ref_=fn_al_nm_1 and Ian Vacek http://www.imdb.com/name/nm3051870/?ref_=fn_al_nm_1 produced together. Why do they need your help? “The Risks and Challenges are always financial. When you don’t have enough….you can only do so…
Fan Film: Star Wars: Amulet of Urlon
We love fan films here. This one is under 5 minutes so it’s not an extra long watch. You can sit down on a work break or in between playing or studying and give it a quick watch. We don’t want to go into too much detail about plot since it is such a short film. It’s far better to just watch it for yourself and get the full experience. That said, it’s an interesting and new story idea, the character is intriguing and the film is done well. There’s nice use of lighting and other effects and we hope to see more from them along these lines. If the music sounds familiar, you probably played Star Wars Commander and clothing and props were also very well done. All in all, it’s good stuff for a fan film. We’d love to see a longer version of this to carry out more of…
Star Wars Secrets of the Unknown Fan Film Project
Oh, you know how I love that Star Wars fan stuff… don’t we all? Well, there is an upcoming fan film that we will definitely be following in order to give you more info on it but we also heard from one of the most talented lightsaber creators around that he will be involved in the project as well. Tom Stephens of TS.Creations posts: “I have been comissioned through my saber shop TS.Creations to hand make all of the lightsabers for the upcoming fan film Star Wars: Secrets of the Unknown. The design of the first saber is underway! and this is the character who will weild it. Padawan Veila the fierce Viking-esque Jedi warrior. This film is set to be an INCREDIBLE work, the attention to detail and passion that has gone into creating it so far is nothing short of awesome, and seeing as it is intended for US! YOU…
BAD PILOTS – Star Wars Fan Film
We love Star Wars fan films. If you are a Star Wars fan, there’s a good chance you love fan films too. They really speak to the fan inside all of us and often bring out the details of the original films we love the most. This is why we love sharing them with you so much. Even the silly, the dark, and the parodies will make you smile when you think of how they remind you of the films that started it all. So with that in mind, here’s another great, fun fan film: Bad Pilots. It’s Episode 1: Holy Guacamole and it’s so worth the watch. At just about 30 minutes long, it’s like a quick episode of a sitcom and we’re hoping there’s more to come after Ep 1 because this was a lot of fun. “Three useless Tie Fighter Pilots feel the full power of the…
Star Wars Fan Film Unity of the Force
Here’s a really cool fan made film we think you will enjoy. In this story, the young hero, Lak, is tasked with finding an artifact, a special lightsaber that is said to be the most powerful in existence. He is less than enthused in the beginning, which makes him different from many young Jedis. I would expect him to be chomping at the bit to take on a mission like this but instead, his attitude was one of “Can’t someone else do it?” While this annoyed me, I also thought it was kind of refreshing to see a different angle taken. So anyway, he goes on to complete this mission to find The Artifact and there are many obstacles in his way, which is no surprise. I think you’ll find it a fun little short and the ending was a bit of a surprise to me. The ending may surprise…

“Kara” A Star Wars Fan Film
Star Wars fan films… oh, you know how much we love them! Here is a fun one put out by A Whitelist Production just a couple of weeks ago. It’s called “Kara” and it’s a little over 7 minutes long so it’s not going to eat up your entire afternoon to give it a watch. I will say this though: it left me wanting to see more from these guys. For an unofficial Star Wars film, it’s pretty darn good. It’s not Hollywood perfect quality but it’s really darn good and has a good feel to the story. Because they kept it so short and sweet, I think it even adds more to the appeal. Some of these fan films are too drawn out and it makes it much more difficult to capture and hold the attention of the audience for that length of time. It also draws us in,…
Star Wars Fan Film: REBEL SCUM
As of right now, we are still around 12 months away from the next Star Wars film, and the spinoff installment Rogue One, brings fans back to the days of the original trilogy. If you have been craving some 80’s style nostalgia, you should definitely check out this awesome Star Wars fan film from the independent studio Blood Brother Cinema Co. This nine minute short film, which has a title of Rebel Scum, shows fans a meeting between one downed Rebel pilot and also an injured member that is part of the Galactic Empire after they happen to cross paths on nearly everyone’s favorite icy war zone. It has some pretty impressive costume work and a subzero snow-covered environment that was captured on film from an airfield in Alberta, Canada. This short film also has some amazing visual effects that doesn’t use CGI, which includes a stop-motion AT-AT walker that…
The Weight of Forgiveness – Star Wars Fan Film
We have something fun and interesting to bring you today. This just released Star wars fan film has our attention. It’s called “The Weight of Forgiveness” and it’s all about the birth of a Jedi. It’s in Italian and it’s about 15 minutes or so in length so it’s a short watch. There are different possible interpretations of the short, which is part of its appeal. The synopsis says it is a Star Wars fan film “open to interpretation” and there have already been several ideas as to what it all means. If you know and love Star Wars (like all of us here do), you may appreciate it on those grounds alone but we ask you to watch it with an open mind and don’t limit yourself just to the Star Wars universe, then see what you think of it. Some say it is the story of redemption of…
STAR WARS LEGENDS: Legacy of the Force – Fan Film
We love Star Wars fan films, as you probably know if you’ve been reading our posts for awhile now, and here is one based on a book that we really wanted to bring to your attention. It’s Star Wars Legends: Legacy of the Force and you can see the film in its entirely on YouTube (we’ve embedded it below). It’s meant to be a homage to the Expanded Universe and the canon is spot-on. The acting was good, especially for a fan film and I found it overall entertaining. If you haven’t seen it yet, just scroll down and give it a watch. Then head over and tell the crew what you think of their hard work. You can follow everything they’re up to and learn more from their Facebook page here. Some of their members are also working on a new project right now. Their page contains interviews and…
The Old Republic: Rescue Mission – (2015) Short Film
What if the only way to be a hero was to become a villain? This short fan film from Torrm Productions will answer that question for you. It’s a fantastic film that really defines true Star Wars fans. The effects, the sounds and the music (featuring KOTOR themes) was all superb. It officially released on October 18th and already many fans are asking for a sequel. The film runs a little over 20 minutes in length so it’s a good quickie you can watch after work or while taking a break. It’s well-acted, the story is on point, and it’s also shot very well. The special effects work is decent too. All in all, it’s a high quality film for what they had to work with. If you have not seen it yet, you absolutely should make some time in your schedule to do so. As far as fan films…
The Old Republic: Rescue Mission – (2015) Short Film
Many fans of Star Wars think that the best Star Wars game that was ever made it Knights of the Old Republic, and some will disagree. There is a new Australian fan film that has been between the events of the Drew Karpyshyn’s novel and the KOTOR game, and it’s actually quite good. It’s not just good for a fan made film, but it’s actually really good. It stinks that the expanded universe stuff has all been voted as non-canon during the wake of the upcoming movies. However, in a strange way it puts all of the half-decent fan-fiction on an even level with things like the game. In other words, it seems to make it easier for certain people to have great fun with the Star Wars world. No matter what, this is actually a high quality production and it features great acting and perfect outfits. It’s definitely worth…

Star Wars Fan Film: Retribution
It’ll be a while until the next Star Wars movie hits theaters, so in the meantime Star Wars fans can watch a half-hour movie created by… a college football player. Called Retribution, the film was written and directed by Georgia University student Chris Conley, who started work on the short video last November. While Retribution doesn’t have the same cast and budget of actual Star Wars movies, it’s actually quite good, even though it was filmed in Conley’s University surroundings. With a simple plot, decent sound and visual effects as well as plenty of shooting and fighting (light saber action included), Retribution shows what can be done with the right amount of Star Wars passion and proper gear. Published on YouTube on Saturday, Retribution has already passed 200,000 views and it’s likely the number will go up as more Star Wars fans discover it. You can watch the fan-made flick…
Fan Film: STAR WARS The Old Republic: The Pit
Today we have another episode of Really Awesome Fan Stuff! This is the trailer for a fan film from Blind Wave Productions. While it is clearly a low budget production, we think they’ve done a fantastic job of what we can see so far. The trailer is interesting, has some great choreography and we can’t wait to see the full length film. This is what it’s really all about- fans getting into something and taking it to that next level. The trailer for the first of a series of fan films set in the STAR WARS universe, during the time of THE OLD REPUBLIC, created by the award winning Lightsaber Choreography team of Blind Wave Productions.
