More on Star Wars: Battlefront April 16-19 at The Star Wars Convention?

As we’ve been anxiously awaiting the release of Star Wars Battlefront this year, we’ve heard next to nothing about it. EA has been very tight-lipped about the details of the game and the progression of the release. It’s possible that EA has been quiet about Battlefront in part due to the late release of Hardline that ran into March. Whatever the reasoning, there is a very good chance we will get some great new info about the game and some fans might even have the opportunity to playtest coming up soon. EA showed Battlefront gameplay footage to retail partners recently and there’s a good chance consumers might see more of it soon. The official Star Wars Convention in Anaheim, California happens on April 16-19 and this would be the perfect time to give some gameplay action and reveals of the game to consumers. EA also told us the “first look”…

Japanese Star Wars Toys: Darth Vader and Boba Fett Look Awesome

Square Enix, the Japanese video game publisher behind the Final Fantasy series, has developed a range of Star Wars toys. Darth Vader, Boba Fett, and the generic Imperial stormtrooper look amazing! They’ve been given a bit of a makeover and have been shrunk down to action figure size. We have to admit, they look pretty darn fierce! They’ve been released as “Variant Playarts” models and they look awesome. Realistic, detailed… they have everything you would want. They are quite impressive. The figures are retailing at around $108 which honestly is a good deal for the impressive amount of detail that has gone into them. TheVerge tells us more: Boba Fett and the stormtrooper are set to be released in July, but Vader comes earlier, hitting otaku shop shelves in May. The Variants might be called “Playarts,” but they’re not toys so much as expensive collector’s editions — the detailed figures are set to retail for 12,960…

Beautiful SWTOR Matte Paintings

SWTOR Matte Paintings by Nick Hiatt Matte paintings by Nick Hiatt created during the production of the SWTOR cinematic trailers at Blur Studios You know how we love to bring you beautiful things, especially beautiful SWTOR things. Here’s one that we just cannot pass up sharing. These beautiful matte paintings are perfect for the SWTOR fan. While they would be wonderful to have as prints (I’d hang these in my house), you might decide you want to make them your desktop background, as others have done. Even if you just want to admire them for a bit, Blur Studios is awesome and this is the proof.

SWTOR YuGiOh? Yes, It’s a Thing

YuGiOh “Peril on Makeb” SWTOR Fan We found another cool SWTOR fan-inspired creation. shyherdier “got bored” and made a mini set of YuGiOh based SWTOR cards. They are really creative and some of them are quite funny. I’d love to see this fan make a full deck of these. If you could add any cards to this set, what would they be? What would they say? SWTOR The Trading Card Game could totally be a thing (hey, it worked for Wow, sort of). So, what do you think? The art is pretty awesome. If you ask me, I’d play this game. 🙂 Inspired by the user above, cuckingfomputer made this entire deck. It’s worth taking the time to read through all of the cards. Inquisitor Starter Deck

TOR TV: The Appropriate Way to Respond to a Game-breaking Bug

The Haunted Ship Here’s a fun little bug from 2012 that some of you might remember. “As it turns out, there’s a bug that’s existed in Star Wars: The Old Republic for some time now. If you’re a Jedi and try getting onto a Smuggler’s ship, you’ll be trapped in this ghost instance where you can’t leave or do anything, but everyone can still see you. You’re basically a ghost, haunting peoples’ ships. Annoying at the time, but hilarious in retrospect.” We find this entertaining for two reasons. One: it reminds us of the early days of SWTOR and two: we love seeing fun videos of people being silly and making the most of a bad situation. For those of you who remember, this bug would trap you inside the ship, putting you into other people’s ships and you could not escape until later when they released a patch. Escape…

TOR Databases + Site Framework Kickstarter for TORCommunity (to replace Torhead + AMR)

TORCommunity is creating the framework to power SWTOR databases to replace Torhead and Ask Mr. Robot. They need your help to fund them! Even above and beyond the 120 backers who have funded nearly $5,000 so far, we also have people who are stepping up to volunteer their services such as translating to different languages. This is something I have always found impressive about the SWTOR community over all these years. You all step up when needed to try to make the community better. Sure, there are bad apples in every bunch but overall, the community really cares about the game, about Star Wars and about one another and it shows in the volunteerism many show in times like these. One thing the community has oft complained about is Bioware’s lack of official tools and API support. This creates hurdles the community has to jump in order to have tools…

SWTOR Stays on Pace for Most Played PC Games in February 2015

Raptr’s newest most played list for PC games is out and we see SWTOR still holding strong in the Top 20 at position 15. February’s Most Played PC Games list looked pretty similar to January’s but with one big addition: Blizzard’s MOBA contender Heroes of the Storm! The top 5 games has remained pretty much the same over the past few months but something else that has remained consistent is SWTOR on the list. We’ve seen some other games move around here and there due to different factors. Battlefield 4 gained four spots in February, which is likely because of people preparing for the release of Hardline. Hearthstone lost 3 places and Dragon Age Inquisition lost a whopping 10 spaces on the list. ouch! Final Fantasy XIV and Guild Wars 2 both moved up two ranks. The free login weekend at the end of the month probably helped Final Fantasy move…

Darth Vader Stress Toy from ThinkGeek.com

Darth Vader stress toy

Sometimes you just need to squeeze the head of a Vader when you’re feeling stressed, right? Well, ThinkGeek wants to help you out with this. We think Vader knows a thing or two about being stressed out as well. This is another cool product we got to review from ThinkGeek and while I got it some time back. I like to actually use products for awhile before just posting reviews and saying, “Yea, it’s great.” So I had to check it out for a bit. The head is squishy enough and sized well for my hand (I have small hands so some are too large). The unique shape also made is easier for me to hold. It was not too hard (like some stress balls I have used) and not so soft that it felt it wasn’t useful. It also didn’t tear apart after just a week or two, something…

History of the Old Republic

Here is some really interesting original content from TJWright and we want to share with you. They are some super amazing images based on the History of the Old Republic and created for the new upcoming book. Here he explains the project: Starting out 2015 with a bang by getting a gig doing Star Wars stuff for an upcoming book that will attempt to make sense of the Star Wars: Legends stuff that is no longer considered ‘canon’ by LucasFilm. Now if you want to see more of the images for yourself, just check out the link and website. As for the upcoming book the images will be used in, not a lot is known just yet. It will be based around the Legends story and will not be new canon, at least not completely. There could be a some new content or ideas tossed in but mostly it should…

R2-D2 Measuring Cups from ThinkGeek.com Review

Of all the products we got from the very generous ThinkGeek to review, this one is the one I was most excited about. Before I even knew we were going to get it to review, my friend had shared it on my Facebook wall and I knew I wanted to get it. She knows I’m a Star Wars fan and often tags me in all things Star Wars themed. I don’t mind, of course. But this one stood out to me more than others and I’m not even that big of a cook, really. In fact, if you’re not big on kitchen duty, this might even inspire you to spend some more time in there mixing and measuring things up. My thoughts? It looks really cool and I will probably display it more than I use it. However, if you do plan to use it, it works great. Just don’t…

What’s Happening to the Women of BioWare Austin?

In the past month, we have seen an exodus of SWTOR staff from Bioware Austin, much like one we saw a couple years back. Of these were Courtney Woods from the community team and Hillary “Pokket” Nicole, the Community Coordinator. While specifics were not released, we are given the impression their contracts just ended and Bioware was not interested in renewing them. As a female gamer and someone who has worked within the industry for a number of years, it’s great to see other females taking a leadership role so I am sad to see them go. That said, it has many asking the question “Are there any females left out there at Bioware Austin?” and of course, there are. It would seem that SWTOR is getting rid of their community team once again (remember when this happened last time?) and the fact that Courtney and Hillary are female was…

Dromund Kaas Imperial Citadel on Minecraft

Here’s a gamer who has combined two of my favorite things: Star Wars/SWTOR and Minecraft. Here you will see that Jedimonkey38 built the Dromund Kaas Citadel in Minecraft. See for yourself here: How awesome is that? I have seen some pretty amazing Minecraft builds over the years. My kids are also really into Minecraft and spend hours watching videos and reading about it. My son even bought a Minecraft manual from the school book fair. So as you can see, we’re a family who is not new to the blocky world. That said, I really love to see when people go outside the typical and create something new or unique. Whenever someone combines one game or story world with another, they’re probably going to get some smiles from me as well, as is the case with this. Here you will find a Speeder Transport, Mandalorian Enlave Entrance, Sith Sanctum Entrance,…

If EA Created a New Star Wars Game

We love Star Wars games around here and most of you will know that there has been no shortage of ideas for them but very few that make it to completion and then stick around for any period of time for people to actually enjoy them. This can be very frustrating for the Star Wars gamer fan. How many games in the past couple of years have we seen scrapped? (Stop it already developers!) So here is a question to ponder: If EA was to create a new Star Wars game that isn’t part of an existing series (like Battlefront, Rogue Squadron, etc.) what would you want it to be about? If you could write the plot and script for a new Star Wars game, what would your game be about? Would you be looking for something with more of a Star Wars Galaxies feel to it or would you…

SWTOR: Territory Map of the Galaxy

Here is a very thorough territory map of the galaxy with each zone color coded and labeled. You may need to make it bigger to really see all the detail and to read all of the territories. But you’ll see it’s really well done and he’s also been taking suggestions from viewers on how to improve things. This is the post from imperator-hadaril explaining: Hello everyone! I’m a long time SW:TOR player and fanatic about the Lore of the game. I have been working on a territory map of the galaxy (A map that would show Imperial, Republic, and Hutt Space), in the hopes that it would be a valuable resource to the community of the game, especially to those that are interested in the Lore and or Role-play. Satele Shan by Saphira Cosplay

Satele Shan cosplay

You know how we love cosplayers around here, especially SWTOR or Star Wars cosplayers. So this is why we are excited to bring you this one of Satele Shan, a personal favorite of mine actually. Saphira is more than a pretty face; she’s incredibly talented too, which you can see from her Facebook page (linked below). The teamwork between Saphira and photographer for this shot really shines through in the end result. We love it and we’d love to see more! The cosplayer herself, Saphira, left this comment explaining the lightsabers: i built the sabers from scratch XD they have 5000 lumens in the blades, so they light up for real. i got the build process in my page (facebook.com/saphiracosplay). They are also two sabers that can be united to form her saberstaff, her most used weapon, and the blades are clear blue acrylic that can also be detached for…

Will The Old Republic Be Canon in Star Wars? Interview w/ Drew Karpyshyn

Drew has a bit of a reputation as being “The Old Republic guy” when it comes to writing so the interview also explores the question of “Will The Old Republic be canon in Star Wars”? Here’s a really great interview from schmoesknow that answers a lot of great questions about the Star Wars universe. So today we were happy to see some pretty big news on the Star Wars Battlefront scene. Jason Ward over at MakingStarWars.net made a huge list of info about Star Wars Battlefront. Bioware Canceled Shadow Realms to Focus on SWTOR

Shadow Realms Cancelled

Today, GameInformer reported that Shadow Realms, a 4v1 action RPG in development at BioWare Austin, has been canceled. Shortly after this new went out, BioWare Austin GM Jeff Hickman confirmed the news himself. “We’ve made the decision to not move forward with development of Shadow Realms,” wrote Hickman in a post on the official site. He went on to explain that “right now there are other projects for the team to work on within the BioWare studios for the coming year and beyond,” citing Star Wars: The Old Republic as the biggest focus, followed by Dragon Age: Inquisition, the next Mass Effect game, and “other new IP.”” This is unfortunate news for fans who were looking forward to the game and also some may find it disappointing to see so many potential games getting the axe before they ever get to production. The downside here also is that this was to be BioWare’s first original game…
