Darth Vader vs. Darth Malgus – Versus Series

I absolutely LOVE the versus series that puts one Star Wars character against another to determine who would “win”. They are typically very similar characters with a lot in common, and then it’s broken down into their strengths and weaknesses and how they compare. This one was a really fun one for me: Darth Vader vs. Darth Malgus. Before seeing the video yourself, who would you rank top between the two? Now, see the video to hear their thoughts on who would win if the two were to face off in a fight: What do you think of their points? Do you agree? Did your choice come out on top? Some highlights: Vader is very intelligent Malgus has brute force – SITH juggernaut Vader faces different opponents based on the individual opponent and their strengths Vader has mental blocks that he creates for himself along the way Malgus is talented…

ILMxLAB’s Star Wars: Vader Immortal Was Almost Something Different

So many Star Wars projects have started off one way, then ventured into another direction throughout the way. One such project is Star Wars: Vader Immortal. Speaking to Tested in an in-depth Making Of video, series director Ben Snow described how different the project was initiated. It would have been more passive and the players would not have embodied a character at all. Crazy, huh? “It was originally going to be a fly on the wall narrative where you essentially observe the goings on,” Snow explained. “And so the first prototype that I became involved in, we were essentially trying to grey box/proof out/pre-viz the first script that he [David S. Goyer] had written.” If you’ve been a longtime fan of VR technology then you might remember that ILMxLAB talked about Vader Immortal as far back as 2016. This left some fans wondering if it was going to get canned or…

KENOBI – A Star Wars Fan Film

If you’ve been a reader here for a while, you know that I love fan films. There’s something special about the energy that fellow fans put into Star Wars projects and I love it! This film, KENOBI by Jamie Costa via YouTube is a perfect example of what I love so much about fan films. It has a true Star Wars feel to it, and it ticks all the boxes of what makes a great film. You can see it for yourself here: A really cool factoid about this fan film: they got James Arnold Taylor, the voice of Obi-Wan in the Clone Wars to be in their FAN film? This is sooo awesome! If you didn’t recognize him, he’s Leegus, the Empire Captain. How awesome is that little cameo? I just love it! This short film has amazing acting, storytelling and real emotions that pull you in and keep…

Star Wars Battlefront 2 Baby Yoda Mod

The baby Yoda craze is real! And yes, we know “The Child” from the Mandalorian has not been confirmed to be Yoda, but you’re not going to get people to stop calling it that. But here’s some adorable news for you: The Star Wars Battlefront II community now gets to play as Baby Yoda, with the help of a mod you can install in your game. The mod was created by the user Nanobuds and turns the existing BB-8 hero into Baby Yoda from the Disney+ show The Mandalorian. It started out as a joke and originally only changed the BB-8 model to Baby Yoda. “I started this as a joke mod but it ended up being pretty cool,” Nanobuds said about the creation. “He looks wacky on the frontend- There is nothing I can do about this. I can’t change the animations to make BB8’s arm or wire go…

Why Does EA Keep Canceling Star Wars Games?

Should EA Lose their Star Wars License

If you’ve been around our site for a while, you’ll know that we’ve written about quite a few anticipated Star Wars video games that were later canceled. Some were put to rest before they ever had the chance to be developed and others had us ready to purchase when they pulled the plug. One thing they all had in common: they left us disappointed. So, why does EA keep canceling Star Wars games? Well, it would seem they have different reasons for doing so. Since EA secured the publishing rights on Star Wars games from Disney, they have canceled at least three Star Wars games. The most recent one being the Battlefront spin-off. EA has given various reasons each time they cancel one of these anticipated games but the common thread seems to be timing. The latest Star Wars game, code-named “Viking” was rumored to be a Battlefront spin-off with…

DARK JEDI – A Star Wars Fan Film

I have another interesting fan film for you today. This one is fairly new so you may have missed it. It was published back on December 13th by urbanamadei on YouTube. It features a popular YouTube Parkour artist and a Holly wood stuntwoman for intense action fight scenes that look and feel realistic. Dark Jedi – A Star Wars Fan-Film with Parkour YouTuber Urbanamadei and Hollywood Stuntwoman Marie Mouroum from Star Wars Rise of Skywalker. Made by Lorenz Hideyoshi Ruwwe. See why one viewer said, ” This lightsaber duel makes the Last Jedi look like 6 yr olds with broomsticks!!” Check it out for yourself here: The choreography is clearly the star of the show on this one. The acting can come off a bit cheesy throughout, but that’s almost standard in fan films and didn’t prevent me from enjoying the short. However, it’s the choreography that steals the show….

Jedi Fallen Order 2 Release Date Is Coming

And it may be sooner than you think. When EA relased Star Wars – Jedi: Fallen Order, they had a lot to prove. There was a lot of criticism surrounding Star Wars: Battlefront and its sequel and this meant the pressure was on for Fallen Order. The good news is, Respawn Entertainment delivered and Fallen Order was a success. So much so, in fact, that reports from Kotaku say there is a sequel and it might be even sooner than you’d think. According to Kotaku‘s report, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2 is one of two Star Wars games still in active development at EA. EA’s latest financial call showed that the game was a greater success than they had anticipated. “Sales of Star Wars — Jedi: Fallen Order significantly beat our expectations,” CFO Blake Jorgensen said. “We had forecast 6 million to 8 million units for the fiscal year, but to hit the high end of that…

STAR WARS: THE HIGH REPUBLIC PUBLISHING CAMPAIGN Coming in 2020

Interesting news from StarWars.com this week: Later this year, Lucasfilm will launch an epic new era of Star Wars storytelling. Star Wars: The High Republic, which has previously been referred to as “Project Luminous”, will be set in an era when the Galactic Republic and the Jedi Order are at their zenith, about 200 years before the events of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. The timeline of this will not overlap any of the films and the series currently planned for production. This means the creators and partners will have a lot of room to tell these Star Wars stories with new, original characters. These publications will include adult and young adult novels, children’s books, and comics from a wide variety of publishers, including Disney Lucasfilm Press, IDW Publishing, Marvel and Del Rey. There will be something for everyone! “We are so excited to be opening up such a rich, fertile…

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic Remake Could Be in Development

There are few Star Wars games that fans across the board love as much as Knights of the Old Republic. KOTOR is also one of the most requested remakes from fans. In short, we loved KOTOR and we want to see more of it. The latest rumor mill on the Star Wars scene says that might even be possible for us. Current Status of SWTORData

A lot of people have been asking about SWTORData, including swtorconquest, and the owner has made an official statement on the status via Reddit. The short version: He’s no longer updating it and has no plans to do so in the future. You can read his full post on Reddit for more details and if you have questions for him, but here’s a snippet: “I wanted to finally make a post regarding the current status of SWTORData (including conquest, the cartel bot, Maintence posts, etc) since I keep being messaged about it. The TLDR is… I am no longer maintaining it and at the moment have no plans to go back to it. The sites will stay up for now, but severely reduced. I am sorry it took me this long to actually say this, instead I just disappeared. I have a number of reasons for this, but the biggest catalyst was…

The Mandalorian Ep 7 & 8 Rated 100% on Tomatometer

Can a show truly be perfect? If so, The Mandalorian has reached that pinnacle of critic perfection. Now that the entire first season has dropped on Disney+, the critics have weighed in and the show gets a 100% Tomato rating on Rotten Tomatoes for episodes 7 and 8. This is quite possibly unheard of. Most shows start off strong and peter out at the end. And when it comes to Star Wars stories… well, even the biggest fans know they have a pattern of leaving us with a let-down. The Mandalorian, however, does exactly the opposite of that. What started out as a fun, action-packed episodic adventure with a cute little “baby Yoda” who even non-Star Wars fans could get excited about has the most epic ending ever in that the ending is just the beginning. Episode 8 leaves us with more questions than answers, but in that “I can’t…

Star Wars Gamers Fans Reflect on SWTOR Anniversary

Some of you have been reading and sharing our posts since the very beginning and we are SO grateful for you all. Today, in honor of the SWTOR 8th anniversary and our amazing readers, I want to share some of YOUR memories of the game. Lisa Rodriguez I used to be part of a guild named the Order of Ashla. I had some really fun RP there, mostly with players like Nol, Hydro, Trouten and Church. We tried to keep in touch after wards but now, it’s just Nol and Hydro I’m still in touch with. The guild died out after the server change including also switching ourselves to another RP server. When we tried to continue it, I wasn’t online often enough as a Council Member and something happened to where the…

Happy 8-Year Anniversary from Star Wars: The Old Republic

On December 20th, SWTOR celebrating its 8th year, I remember this anniversary all too well because a) I was writing for this site and we were SUPER pumped for the launch and b) I had a baby 2 days later. We were all taking bets on which one come first – the baby or the game. This is a game that has seen its share of controversy, like all Star Wars games, honestly, and one that holds a lot of memories for a lot of people, myself included. I was able to attend the inaugural Guild Summit in Austin and meet the staff at BioWare Austin and see behind the scenes of the making of the game, for one. And now we are here, with another year in the books and SWTOR staff have some memories of their own they want to share. This message from the Team on SWTOR.com…

Is There a New Singleplayer Star Wars Game on the Horizon?

now hiring

We’d all love another Star Wars game, no doubt! We’ve learned not to get too excited in the early stages of game development because far too many of these anticipated games fizzle out. That said, we have found a few small hints there could be a new singleplayer Star Wars game in the future. Respawn is currently looking for a Senior Character Artist, Level Designer, and Senior Software Engineer, all to work on the “Star Wars Team.” The engineer listing states explicitly that EA is looking for a programmer to “create an incredible Star Wars experience” and who is “invigorated” by coding “third person action/adventure games. Some of the job perks include: State of the art on-site gym with 24/7 access. On-site yoga classes, massages, and car washes. Fully stocked kitchens with fresh fruit, breakfast, snacks, and more. Convenient meal order service for on-site lunch deliveries. Okay, maybe I need to apply… Anyway, could…

Should Jedi: Fallen Order Get a Sequel?

Jedi Fallen Order

We were all VERY excited for a new Star Wars game and despite some issues, Jedi: Fallen Order did not disappoint. But, should it get a sequel? CBR.com says YES! And honestly, I agree. Are there some issues with the game? Yes. Is it still worth playing? Yes. But does it still deserve a sequel? Yes! Jonathan Figueroa says: After dozens of canceled Star Wars video games — and a handful of lame ones — Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has arrived, finally delivering on the promise of an action-packed lightsaber adventure. It isn’t perfect, as the game has its fair share of issues and bugs, but Fallen Order can be improved upon in a sequel — and yes, it definitely deserves one. Before we discuss what we want to see in a sequel, though, let’s talk about why it needs one, and where this game succeeds the most. “ And he really hits the nail on the head with…

Do Star Wars Trailers Reveal Too Many Spoilers?

Sure, we’re all super excited to see the next movie, and the next Star Wars video game, but do the trailers reveal too many spoilers? This is the complaint that a lot of fans made recently when some say that trailers gave away too many crucial facts and plot lines about The Rise of Skywalker. Are they giving too much away? Is there any reason for us to still see the movies when the trailer gives us a total play-by-play? The Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker trailers have revealed two huge plot points — the return of Emperor Palpatine, and the appearance of “Dark Rey.”  Some fans were not happy about this but Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy has an explanation. She explains in an interview with io9 that they are bringing the movies to a conclusion now and this is one reason they’ve intentionally chosen to be less secretive, like Star Wars movies…
