The Business Case for BioWare’s Ops Announcement

BioWare announced the future of Operations in Star Wars: The Old Republic this past Thursday. Most people weren’t thrilled about the announcement and it was mainly because they are scared about the game’s status if people stop playing. They announced that there would not be any new Operations content for the next 12 months. We think the reason for this is simply, Star Wars: Battlefront. The game is sharing a parent company and intellectual property with Star Wars: The Old Republic. We are sure that there many people that intend on playing Star Wars: Battlefront and this makes sense that EA would use a business plan to maximize their revenues from both of the games together. They both have strengths and weaknesses that seem to mesh well together. Star Wars: Battlefront has very little single-player appeal but it does have a massive multiplayer component. Star Wars: The Old Republic struggles…

Michael Jackson Wanted to Play Jar Jar Binks in ‘Star Wars’

Michael Jackson wanted to play the Star Wars character Jar Jar Binks, however George Lucas denied him the part. His reason for denying the pop star was because he “wanted to do it in prosthetics and makeup like ‘Thriller’”. Michael Jackson was known as the “King of Pop” and he reportedly told George Lucas that he wanted to play the goofy Gungan Jar Jar Binks, which is one of the most despised characters in film history. The character appeared in the 1999 blockbuster hit, Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menance. Ahmed Best voiced and provided the motion capture for Jar Jar Binks’ character, explained the interest that Michael Jackson had during an interview with Vice. “Me, Natalie Portman and George [Lucas]’s kids – we were at Wembley arena at Michael Jackson’s concert,” Best said. “We were taken backstage, and we met Michael. There was Michael and Lisa Marie [Presley]….

Update on SWTOR Season 5 PvP Nexu

Players who accidentally received the Season 5 Nexu will be able to keep them. BioWare Bioware is planning to add something exclusive for gold tier in patch 3.3.1. though. Check it out: The Season 5 Nexu | 07.31.2015, 03:10 PM Hey folks, Good news! We have granted Nexu to all of the remaining Gold tier characters who had not yet received it. If you were missing the Nexu, we isolated the issue to characters who had transferred or changed their names during the course of the season. I know there are questions about what will happen now, so here’s our current plans: Mistakenly Granted Nexu – Anyone who was granted a Nexu, will be allowed to keep it. This was our error and we are not inclined to take it away from everyone. Gold Tier Exclusive Reward – We know letting those extra players keep the Nexu, it takes away the exclusivity…

Maybe Andy Serkis and Lupita Nyong’o will actually appear, since they have yet to be at any conventions. However, it’s all a guessing game right now. Another huge event that is happening at D23 this year is Star Wars creator George Lucas will be honored. He will be given a Disney Legend Award, as well as six other Disney Legends. Star Wars Battlefront Preview- PCMag

PCMag recently teamed up with a PR representative for a single round of Survival Mode. When you play this mode in the full game it will have players going up against 15 waves of enemies on multiple different planets that include Hoth and Endor. However, during the PlayStation 4 demo they took on six waves on the beautiful deserts of Tatooine. The main object of the mode is to stay alive but sometimes they received secondary missions from Admiral Ackbar to find and defend the weapon cache pods. If one player dies but the other one lives and finishes the round, both Rebel soldiers can go to the next round. The new Star Wars: Battlefront is currently being developed by DICE and they are known for making the Battlefield series. Just like Battlefield, Star Wars: Battlefront is mainly a large multiplayer experience. The only single-player part of the game will…

Star Wars: Battlefront Impressions: Learning to Survive or Die Together

The new and upcoming Star Wars: Battlefront game is not only about Revel vs. Empire multiplayer battles, but much more. As it was revealed at this year’s E3, the game will have a cooperative multiplayer mode, this is where up to two players can work together to take on waves of incoming Stormtroopers. Shack News used their teamwork skills during the EA Summer Showcase in New York City. During the beginning of the match the players get to pick out their equipment, like your main weapon and a star card. The star card will tell you what your special equipment load out is. The first is used for defensive play and also includes an Ion Torpedo that closes in on enemy vehicles like the AT-ST. The second card is for offensive players and it has the Barrage grenade launcher and Ion Shot. The Ion Shot temporarily enhances your blaster, which…

Star Wars Battlefront 4 concept art from 2009

During the time that LucasArts terminated their contract with Free Radical Design, they were not just working on Star Wars: Battlefront III and Time Splitters 4, they were also working on the pre-production of a new Star Wars: Battlefront game. While the status of Star Wars: Battlefront III is not currently known, we don’t really expect any news about a fourth SW Battlefront game in the future.

Old Star Wars PSAs About Drunk Driving and Smoking

Here is an old Star Wars Rarity. Back in 1979, creator George Lucas was still in the process of learning how to deal with the unexpected success of Star Wars and the huge incoming of merchandising and marketing opportunities that its popularity brought with it. The majority of the products from this time period are very special, such as early toys that were created by Kenner are now collectors’ items. However, the series of public service announcements have mainly been forgotten. There is a quick clip that was commissioned by the United States Department of Transportation and it features Star Wars characters carousing in the spaceport’s bar. When a Talz patron is way too drunk to fly back home, a responsible Duros offers the friend a ride home to make sure he makes it alive, while not hurting others in space. At the end you can see the copyright mark…

New SWTOR Story dev blog: Brothers

BioWare published a new story blog on the swtor website details Thexan and Arcann. These a the two guys from the Fallen Empire trailer. Check it out below: Brothers Today, I watched my face burn. The skin cracked and curled as fire seared away the moisture. Charred flesh retreated from the heat and shriveled into a huddled black mass. One blue eye, identical to my own, held me in place–made me watch. In an instant, it was the face of a stranger. And we were no longer twins. The memory tugged at my hand, pulled it to my cheek. I was startled by the smoothness that met the pads of my fingertips. My brother’s phantom grip still clutched my arm. I felt the bones beneath his skin reach out, try to escape the pain, and fail. Arcann had writhed for hours before sleep granted him mercy. My own bed remained empty….

Star Wars as 17th-century Japanese Prints

Maybe it’s because I am such a huge fan of art and Star Wars (of course) but I really love this project I came across from a Japanese crowdfunding site, Makuake. The project is for traditional woodblock prints of the original George Lucas Star Wars characters and the project far exceeded its goal. While they do not come cheap (a single print costs 54,000 yen/$434, with a set of three going for 162,000 yen/$1,303) they are worth every penny. The craftsmanship, art and patience that goes into each beautiful piece is amazing. Most Star Wars fans will know that George Lucas was influenced by the Japanese filmmaker Akira Kurosawa and that Kurosawa’s 1958 period adventure The Hidden Fortress often cited as a direct inspiration for Lucas’ first Star Wars film so it makes sense that Star Wars could then be so easily and beautiful adapted to its Japanese roots. These are…

Fanmade ‘Star Wars’ Oculus Rift Game Trailer

A company named Hammerhead VR has created a trailer for Star Wars VR, a game made for the Oculus Rift. Oculus Rift is a virtual reality headset that is going to change the way we play video games in the future. The trailer was made with the Unreal Engine 4 and it looks great, even though it’s not the most complex footage ever made. The first-person Star Wars experience is really what shines in this cool project. No matter if you are going up against Darth Vader in the carbon freezing chamber or leading the battle on the first Death Star, experiencing the excitement and action of Star Wars in a virtual reality environment would be amazing. The trailer does not show much activity with the characters but it was probably difficult to make the trailer with moving ships and environments while not having to worry about populating the game…

Check Out the ‘Star Wars: Uprising’ Gameplay Trailer Kabam Just Released

You know how we love our Star Wars games around here. We know you love them too and that’s why we work to bring you the latest and greatest if it’s related to Star Wars gaming. That said, we were excited to hear about a new game that tied into the new movie Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Is anyone really surprised about this, either? Of course they are going to try to tie in everything and anything, with the popularity of the movies and all that. What was less exciting was the news that this would be a mobile game only. I like mobile games, don’t get me wrong, but I really wanted to see something bigger and better from this. Still, it’s being made by Kabam and this pretty much guarantees two things: It will be worth downloading It will be free to play Kabam has a way that they…
