DICE: Making Star Wars: Battlefront ‘Is Scary’

During a talk given at BAFTA in London, DICE Executive Producer Patrick Bach talked about the release and their nerves of living up to the license with the Star Wars Franchise. “So… that’s pretty cool. Who would’ve thought Star Wars would be made in Sweden? “It’s quite interesting. For some strange reason – coincidence, I don’t know – we had a discussion at the office about what happened to Battlefront. You know, the old IP that someone else made that was a ripoff of Battlefield. Bastards! We should’ve made it. It was a competition of powers. We couldn’t do both at the same time.” “For some reason EA was negotiating with Lucas slash Disney, as to whom should make the new Star Wars games. And just a week later it was like, ‘Oh, by the way, that discussion you were having about Star Wars? Do you want to make it?’… ‘Well,…

Game Update 2.4.1 Patch Notes

patch 2. BioWare will be taking down the servers tomorrow for schedule maintenance and to deploy a new patch.  Below are the patch notes, but I have to say this is one hell of a fixing patch. They are  fixing lore on Quesh, Tatooine and Taris, They are fixing the group finder for operations. But I am most thankful for them making the debuff on the draxus cleansable by all classes. Nothing has pissed me off more on that fight than having to try to heal through the debuff when the other healers, even when called on it, wont cleanse the damn debuff. Well, that and DPS that dont know how to interrupt and then suddenly mass affliction for everyone! Game Update 2.4.1 Patch Notes General Priority Transport Terminals on the Republic Fleet have been adjusted and no longer fail to transport players in some instances. The “Area Loot” Preference now functions as…

BIoWare is doing voice recording for upcoming content

Charles Boyd made an interesting tweet yesterday regarding voice recording for upcoming content swtor content. If you don’t know who Charles Boyd is, I can tell you he is credited as the lead writer for the trooper class on IMDB. We don’t know what the new content is yet, but it’s properly for the upcoming expansion, or maybe something coming down later down the pipeline. Another interesting thing about all this, is  Charles Boyd’s twitter description is ” Lead Writer on Star Wars: The Old Republic, Trooper lover, and historical arms-and-armor nerd. All opinions expressed are my own! “ Personally I was not aware that had become lead writer, but apparently BioWare got a few for the game, since Hall Hood also uses this title. LA-bound to sit in on voice recording for upcoming #SWTOR releases. Always awesome to see such talented actors at work in the booth! — Charles Boyd (@Charles_Boyd)…

TOR TV: Imperial Agent sings “Get Lucky”

nice video ; wrong location … s/b in axil park where Lucky is. I can’t hear that song without thinking of that giant monster. Yikes.  “we’re up on night to get Lucky” now makes different sense hurh:) If you notice… every dance/music emote is set to the same tempo and time sig of the vast majority of pop songs….  So almost no matter what pop song you put in, it should sync up. IE: about 90+% of pop songs are 4/4 and close to 118 bpm. So, have fun mixing it up.

New York Community Cantina infomation

BioWare had a Community Cantina gathering in New York last night, were new game information was released. As always attendance was gifted with a flash drive containing images of upcoming stuff. Items of interest includes a new zaldrate mount and new customization kits for Blizz. The nights discussions also had some items of interest: They want to add better tools to help guildmasters master guilds. Increasing inventory would have an impact on loading time, which is already not all that fast. I asked about new level caps in the future and was told this was a “top secret” question. Adding chapters to class stories involves much expensive logistics, not just writing and coding; they have to bring back the vocal talent, do translations, etc. Adding a new character class is very unlikely. New abilities would have to be designed, a new 50-level character path would have to be written and produced…

PSA: Eric Musco confirms that the new Starfighter Expansion has its own Leveling Track.

Eric Musco made an interesting comment on the official forums regarding the new SWTOR Expansion – “Galactic Starfighter” Originally Posted by Elminster_cs Can you explain what: “Maximum leveling and progression” does it mean? That is really great to know. The “maximum leveling/progression” thing could easily be interpreted as gating off certain levels to subscribers, which would have ventured into “pay to win” territory. Very glad to know it is just slower progression, like normal. Can’t wait to get to play. Also from the official terms and conditions: Starfighter Passes, which offer Preferred Status Players and Free-to-Play Players faster leveling and progression speed, will be…

Swtor-mined: PTS Latest Build Dump | 10/8/2013

SWTOR_Miner is active again with a new data-dump of the lats Public Test Server game patch.  It looks like, zero nerfes in this patch to Rage dmg. Snipers can be charged on while in cover, but not while Entrenched. Zero changes to Bounty Hunter classes except the little pruge change.  I also  see Smash Juggs getting immunity to slows while using Enrage as being the most notable balance change included. I hope they add more changes then this because this will not change much. Gamers petition for EA to finish Star Wars 1313

Gamers have started a petition on Change.org, in an attempt to influence Electronic Arts into resuming development on 1313 and eventually allow the game to see the light of day. After Disney acquired LucasArts in 2013, all employees were laid off and the company was shut down, thus cancelling all current projects. This included games such as Star Wars 1313 and Star Wars: First Assault. We are not sure how effective petitions like this is, but we do urge all our readers to sign it. Hopefully it will o influence Electronic Arts into resuming development on 1313 and eventually allow the game to see the light of day. You can sign the petition over at  Change.org Here’s the summary: At E3 2012 Lucasarts wowed us with a demo of Star Wars 1313.  Gamers around the world were blown away with 1313.  We could finally play a gritty dirty Star Wars game as a bounty hunter on Coruscant.  After Lucasarts was disbanded and the Star…

15 Reasons Why Jedi Knights Are Better than Pirates and Ninjas

There are too many pirates and ninjas roaming the Interwebs for my liking, so  it makes sense to examine specifically why Jedi Knights pwn both Ninjas and Pirates. 1. Ninjas and Pirates have to at least break a sweat to disarm each other.  A Jedi Knight just has to think it and you’re screwed. 2. Ninjas may use stealth, but Jedi Knights can use the Force to make you freakin’ forget they were even there.  In fact, with just a wave of a Jedi’s hand, you might end up finding yourself rocking back and forth outside a 7-11 while drooling profusely. 3. Seriously, can you name a ninja or pirate that is able to take out Sith Lord like Darth Maul, or a giant beast like the Rancor?  I didn’t think so… 4. A sword used by a Pirate or a Ninja can be broken.  Try and break a lightsaber. …

Consolidated Bugs List

With a new major game update, comes lots and lots of new bugs. Here is a list of the stuff that the BioWare developers are aware of. Honestly I expected worse or more bugs with this game update, considering how buggy the PTS was, so I am fairly happy about the patch so far! Post 1 Source CourtneyWoods Unintended Patch Download | 10.02.2013, 09:38 AM Hey everyone, I have an update for you. Unfortunately, if you started downloaded the 12 gig patch on Monday, you will have to finish that download. There were multiple different builds that were incorrectly deployed that afternoon and you will have to download the 12 gig download to get the up to date version of the game. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused to those affected. I know this isn’t the ideal solution but this is the only safe fix to the problem other…

The 10 Greatest Star Wars Games of All-Time

If you had to pick your top 10 greatest Star Wars games of all time, what would make your list? There are many similar lists out there. I think I’ve even done one myself in the past. But I still enjoy seeing what games make others’ lists of top Star Wars games. Sp this is why I am happy to bring you this story from Dorkly where they place SWTOR at the number three position. And this is what they had to say about it: Star Wars Galaxies was the first real attempt at a Star Wars MMO – and it was…problematic. Buggy, complicated, not-that-fun (depending on who you asked), etc. It was supposed to be the chosen one – the one who would bring balance to the world of MMOs, then (and now) dominated by World of Warcraft. Sadly, it was not, and had its legs sliced off and…
