Star Wars: Battlefront – Unused Audio Files Discovered

Initially plagued by an oft-decried lack of depth, DICE‘s Star Wars: Battlefront has come a long way from its not-so-humble beginnings. Its recently released Outer Rim expansion injected a lot of badly needed content into the game universe, including new and exciting locations, new heroes and new Star Cards, pulling it all off within the confines of the Star Wars canon/universe. Season Pass holders could get their hands on the DLC in March, while on April 5 it became available for everyone else, across all platforms. What’s more, players who aren’t yet ready to purchase Outer Rim, can try out some of its features, like the new weapons, in single-player mode. The bottom line is though that picking up the DLC is recommended as all future content-updates will be based on it, and won’t work without it. It has been clear for a while now that there’s plenty of new…

Star Wars Battlefront Devs Update Outer Rim but Quiet on Bespin DLC

So now that Outer Rim is here, the devs at Star Wars Battlefront are already teasing more new content. We know there are additional private match changes coming in the future but we’re not hearing much of anything (or anything at all) about the next upcoming DLC: Bespin. Bespin is set to release this summer sometime and Design & Trend via DICE lead designer Dennis Brännvall said a few words about upcoming content but none of them were about Bespin. Design & Trend reported on these updates from the devs recently: Since many gamers love playing “Star Wars Battlefront” with their friends, private matches are always a hot topic. In fact, we posted an article earlier this week that mentioned the possibility of two-person skirmishes and battles in the new Outer Rim DLC maps and modes. Since then, however, there have been a couple more developments to share. Namely, it appears that Brännvall’s…

First Battlefront DLC Lands, Plenty More to Look Forward To

Star Wars: Battlefront’s eagerly awaited first DLC, Outer Rim, has landed earlier this month, for those who have Season Pass, and indeed, it hit the nail right on the head: it expanded a universe often derided for its shallowness, it added new game modes and overall, it addressed one of the most easily identifiable shortcomings of the original title. Obviously, there’s still plenty of room for improvement depth-wise in the game, but Outer Rim does represent a massive step in the right direction. How massive? The DLC is about 8 GB big, so for those on slower connections, it may cause a few headaches, but it is a must. It expands the game world and it brings so many new goodies, it completely revamps the title. Above and beyond all that though, you will need it because none of the future DLCs already in the works apparently, will work without…

Outer Rim DLC Price and Release Date

EA and DICE have finally confirmed some specific Star Wars Battlefront DLC release details and we know that it will cost $15 ($14.99 US) and that it will be available on March 22nd for Season Pass holders and on April 5th for everyone else. So there are the big questions out of the way. You can see it up for sale on Gamestop with the dates and pricing info now available. Mat Everett did say on Twitter that the company cannot confirm that the Gamestop release date is accurate. This is common practice for game developers but Gamestop has been historically accurate with their launch dates since they get this info from the companies themselves. So we’ll just say it’s as close to official as you can get before actually being official right now. When they announced the Season Pass, EA and DICE also promised new weapons, vehicles, Star Cards for…

Outer Rim Set to Land This Month

According to many, DICE’s Star Wars: Battlefront failed to live up to some of the pre-launch hype and expectations, primarily on account of a rather glaring lack of depth. Fortunately, that problem is one that can be righted on the go and that’s exactly what the developer is looking to accomplish by adding no fewer than three DLCs this year and another one in 2017. The first such DLC is scheduled for March, and given how there will apparently be a free update preceding it, we’re looking at a wealth of new content coming online this month, content which is obviously much-anticipated and much-needed too at this point. The March Battlefront update is set to deliver the usual selection of bug-fixes and tweaks, along with a new Endor map aimed at big game modes as well as a survival map for Tatooine. Exactly what the DLC will bring to the…

Players Salute Latest Star Wars Battlefront Update… Or Not

Players are not happy with the latest update to Star Wars Battlefront and they are letting DICE know about it. One sarcastic post on Reddit highlights  the issues well, with dry humor and snark, but this is not the only shout-out to DICE that this update blows. Some of the major complaints: players hate the new map nerfs and buffs don’t make sense DICE ignored many player requests/ report bugs still issues with the music/sound controls and the list goes on While it’s common for a new game to have issues and for any game to experience problems after an update, big or small, the real issue the community seems to have with DICE is the lack of communication and the fact that it seems they are not listening to their audience at all. When you ask players to spend such a large amount of money on a game, then…

SWTOR – The Biggest Comeback in PC Gaming History?

Some of you who have been around with us since the very beginning (pre-launch even) will know that SWTOR today and SWTOR then are like two different games. Sure, the premise and many of the elements are there, but it’s different in a variety of ways, all of which we think are for the better. This is just one more way that BioWare shows they listen to the players and also that they want to make great games that people truly enjoy. If something isn’t working, you tweak it until it does. They don’t just abandon their projects like many will do. BioWare really came a long way with SWTOR and we’re very glad it’s still with us today and we’re happy to have been with it since the beginning. PC Gamer is calling it one of the biggest comebacks in PC gaming history. Here’s a snippet of a piece…

What To Do with a Star Wars Hater

So you’ve got that one friend, the one who says he “just doesn’t get” what all the fuss is about. “What’s so great about Star Wars?”, he says. Or maybe he goes one step further into actual Hater Mode and starts bashing on the films or the franchise. There’s likely a friend like this in ever group (unless you’ve already purged your group of this traitor). So what can you do about? Sure, it’s okay to accept one another’s differences. We know that not everyone will like the same things and not everyone will love Star Wars as much as you might (although we cannot imagine why). Differences in people make the world go round and that is something to be celebrated. However, if you’re dealing with a friend or family member who just doesn’t “get” your Star Wars obsession, it might be time for an intervention. You can try…

Is Star Wars Rebels Making Old Republic Canon?

Since the Disney buyout of Star Wars, there is one thing that’s been bothering fans and that is the direction of the story line. Many Star Wars stories have just been thrown out completely. Some of the real classic stories are still around under Legends but so many good stories are just gone. There’s so much more that could be done with Star Wars and it seems like Disney isn’t interested in changing that. There is one exception to this rule, however: Star Wars Rebels. It looks like Rebels might be bringing back the most beloved EU story canon – Knights of the Old Republic. Nerd Union has written a great piece about this. Here’s a few of the reasons they give: The ships in the holo when Princess Leia brought supplies They Keep Developing the Mandalorians The Great Scourge of Malachor For the full reasoning behind these hints, read the full article,…

How BioWare Makes Use of Livestreamers for SWTOR

You might remember when BioWare was promoting KotFE that they brought in several well known live streamers and live video people to help promote the new expansion. They had YouTube content creators as well as popular Twitch streamers talk about SWTOR to their own fanbase. They also seemed to talk to outside streamers from other games about trying SWTOR and also introducing it to their audiences. It’s not a bad strategy, honestly. It’s something that most companies will do in a time like this but some will say it failed for BioWare in this scenario. It doesn’t look like it paid off how BioWare would have hoped because they aren’t using that tactic anymore. It’s common practice for companies to experiment with different marketing tactics to see what works and this wasn’t a bad idea in theory. I work in marketing and I know the power behind brand ambassadors and…

Do Many Star Wars Fans Love Gambling?

There is a connection between people who like online video games and people who like online slots. Lots of people who enjoy one enjoy the other. Statistics have shown links between the two and we’ve seen this apparent in pop culture in a variety of ways. While we won’t likely see a casino added to SWTOR any time soon, you can enjoy some of your favorite slots from the comfort of your own home with online casinos. People also bet on the Star Wars film before The Force Awakens was released and there’s a good chance they will continue to place bets on future films, especially with all the records that first movie has been breaking. It’s an exciting topic for people. Just how some bet on the Superbowl every year (even if they’re not regularly sports fans) there are also people who will bet on Star Wars simply because…

Free DLC Packs that Star Wars Battlefront Needs

Not everyone is fully enamored with Star Wars Battlefront. Others have jumped onto the Battlefront bandwagon but they have a few requests they would like to see coming in future DLC packs. Like, why can’t we play as Yoda? EA has been forced to give us more content and for the most part, it’s been good. Fans have been eating it up and EA and DICE will need to work hard to keep up with this growing demand for content from existing as well as new players. What Culture explores this topic and lists seven free DLC packs the game needs. Here are a few they have on the list: New villains Prequel maps Weapon and vehicle upgrades New heroes They do more than just list the suggestions; they also go into depth about why each one should be there. I have to agree, this is a good list of…

Star Wars Rebels is Disappointing Fans

We try to bring you the latest and greatest about Star Wars films, Star Wars games and everything else that Star Wars fans will love. We hate having to report on the disappointments but sometimes it happens. Right now, Star Wars Rebels is really letting their fans down. They’re going down a path that true fans just can’t follow and it’s heartbreaking for those who truly care about Star Wars, Rebels and Jason Ward, editor-in-chief of MakingStarWars.net really explains it best for all the fans. ““Star Wars Rebels has really disappointed me. I feel like just closing the door on it and sticking to the films, comics, and novels. In a day and age when people torrent so much television, one would assume the consumers that refuse to take those paths would be respected, revered, and rewarded by the content creators. Star Wars Rebels has done the exact opposite this week.” So what exactly happened?…

Making Star Wars: Battlefront Authentic

Most Star Wars fans will agree that the only thing better than watching Star Wars would be to actually be there yourself. This is why Star Wars games have tried for decades to create as much of a real, immersive experience as possible. They want you to feel like you’re really there. They want you to experience Star Wars. Star Wars: Battlefront is the most recent game to attempt to take us to a galaxy far, far away. One of my favorite gaming/tech sites, Gamasutra tells us about how they captured the iconic look and sound of Star Wars in the game: Released just a month before The Force Awakens made its theatrical debut, Battlefront tasked EA DICE with bringing Star Wars to life like never before. The challenge was clear: capture the essence of Lucas’ revered original trilogy and rekindle the romance after the bitter break-up that were the prequels. The consensus…

Episode VII Stormtrooper in EA Battlefront Files?

Here’s a rumor (or possible hoax) for you regarding Star Wars Battlefront. Someone claims to have found game files that indicate there might be First Order Stormtroopers in the game. He created a video for it showing these models/files. AngryEchidna says, “In the workshop for SFM i noticed a file that had models from Starwars Battlefront (The third main one) and among the files uploaded is a highly detailed New Order Stormtrooper. I put some of the other models from Battlefront in the video so you can compare the level of detail for yourself.” See the video here: So what do you think? People are skeptical, and rightly so. So far, no one else has been able to replicate it so it’s really looking like it might just be a hoax. When you add in the fact that the video came out just after the game was launched, there’s a very…

4 Star Wars Tabletop Role-Playing Games You Should Try

They combine social interaction, storytelling, dice rolling, miniatures, and an immersive experience that’s tough to replicate. In addition to those big names, there are a number of cool Star Wars RPGs out there. Here are four that you should check out! Star Wars: Battlefront Has Basically the Same Staff of Developers

A lot of fans have questions about the development team behind Star Wars: Battlefront. A common complaint is that they just don’t seem to be communicating well with the fans/players in regard to the game, status of changes, and other important details. When it comes to communities like this, communication is very important, as we learned with SWTOR. When they had community managers in place to help facilitate questions and concerns, as well as announcements between the developers and the players. It’s an important job. Star Wars: Battlefront seems to be lacking in the official community manager department and it’s affecting how some players see the game, as well as their opinion of the professionalism of DICE and EA. Some think it gives the impression the developers don’t care and it’s left others wondering if DICE was even still on the project. This tweet from DICE’s Dennis Brannvall confirms: @LukeMoonkiller…

Aimbotters a Serious Problem in Star Wars: Battlefront

The PC market for Star Wars: Battlefront is seeing a serious problem with cheating. I recall when the same thing was happening on a massive scale with Counter-Strike and later, CS:GO. While cheating and hacking is still a problem, at least Valve has some safeguards in place to try to combat it and most private servers also have their own protocol for spotting, kicking and banning hackers. View post on imgur.com While the poster of this image is saying they need to fix it or send all PC players a refund (something that sounds a bit unreasonable), he does have a point about the aimbotters being a serious problem. In Star Wars Battlefront, there seems to already be a small PC playerbase, making it more difficult to leave a game with a cheater and just find another lobby. Add to it the fact that it seems the cheaters are multiplying…
