Petition for Group Content in SWTOR

Many fans of SWTOR have expressed their interest in seeing Bioware give us more group content. Some want to see it so badly, they’ve started a petition to Bioware to add more new group content to the game. While some fans argue that Bioware has been listening on the forums and even on Reddit, always staying in tune with what the players want, so a petition isn’t really needed, it still appears the petition was done with respect toward Bioware and not at all bashing them. A the time of this post, it has 911 supporters. It reads as follows: BioWare Austin, First and foremost, we are here to say this because we LOVE Star Wars: The Old Republic. You need to recognize this is coming from a good place. We want to tell you that enough is enough. We want to see change. We want to work towards transparency…

SWGEMU: Vendors Disappearing and Basilisk Rollback

Something bad happened over with SWGEMU today recently. They were quick to update to the forums and Facebook to let members know what was going on. No excuses, no twisting of the facts but just a simply notification of what was happening and how they intended to fix it. As many members of the community have said, a roll back is better than vendor loss. They worked hard and quickly to try to correct the issue. Here’s the update in case you missed it. From SWGEMU forums: Well something got messed up pretty bad. Unfortunately bunch of vendors, shuttleports and starports went poof. While we are investigating the issue, we are making backups and trying to find the underlying cause. At the moment the worst case scenario would be a rollback. If that happens, and we are hoping it wont have to come to that, all characters created in the…

Star Wars: Battlefront Fails to Impress Some

Not everyone is smitten with Star Wars: Battlefront. This is not news to us and not news to you. We’ve even written about it here on the site before. But have you spent any time to delve into why some people don’t like the game? Let’s go beyond the “haters” who just want to complain about things, or who oppose anything EA/DICE and look to some real critique of Battlefront. There have been about 100 Star Wars video games released since the first film premiered in 1977. Of those, only a handful can really be considered good. But the thing about most Star Wars and gamer fans is that we love them both so much, we’ll be willing to try anything, at least once. We’ve bought and played some pretty terrible Star Wars games over the years, all in our quest to find the right games we want to play. When we…

Have You Seen the Missing Star Wars Celica?

The stories say that back in 1977, a custom Star Wars Celica was built to help promote the very first film. Sadly, it seems, it has gone missing. The Official Blog of Toyota GB is now calling for your help in this post, “Help us find this Star Wars Celica, you must”. Their post explains what they are looking for: Search your feelings – and maybe your garage too, just in case. Toyota fans around the world have been called on to help track down this Star Wars Celica made to promote the first film in 1977. You won’t have missed that the new Star Wars film, Episode 7: The Force Awakens, is arriving in UK cinemas shortly. The release has prompted a renewed search to find the car created for the ‘Star Wars Sweepstakes’ competition, which marked the arrival of Episode 4: A New Hope in 1977. The Toyota Celica Liftback is equipped with MacPherson…

Star Wars: Battlefront Real Life Mod Dazzles

Star Wars: Battlefront was always going to be extremely keen on visuals. DICE have made it clear from the beginning that they were going to go for authenticity and that they were going to exploit the Frostbite engine to the fullest in their quest for Star Wars eye candy. Granted, on maximum graphics settings, the game has always been a visual delight, but there are individuals out there who have found ways to push it way past what the official version was supposed to accomplish in this respect. Back in November, a mod surfaced, which was used to produce a few impressive screenshots. Called SweetFX Real Life, the mod makes it possible for the game to run in 4k at 60fps, putting out some truly mind-boggling graphics details. Following the still pictures mentioned above, the mod has now been used to make actual footage too, posted to YouTube by jackfrags….

[PATCH NOTES] Star Wars Battlefront PC Update – 12/10/15

Here are the newest patch notes for the PC version of Star Wars: Battlefront. Most of it sounds reasonable. The Endor map should be more equal now, and Boba Fett’s missile lock was way to over powered. So no complains from me on this: Miscellaneous Updates and Tweaks: Added Dolby Atmos support for PC players Fixed an issue where one out of 12 players remained in the loading screen on Swamp Crashsite, Sorosuub Centroplex, and Graveyard of Giants in * * Heroes vs. Villains and Walker Assault multiplayer modes Fixed an issue where two players would spawn in a damage area that doesn’t match visual lava Walker Assault Updates and Tweaks: Increased AT-AT health on Endor Hero Updates and Tweaks: Removed auto-lock on Boba Fett´s missile. Weapons, Gadgets and Star Cards Tweaks: Tweaked impact damage for Impact grenade from 100 to 90 Related Posts SWTOR Patch 4.1 Maintenance Delayed due…

There is an Upset in the Force within SWG Community

Last month there was some drama in the SWG community. We hesitated to even write about it right away, lest we stir the hornet’s nest. It’s also not completely clear what even happened. We suspect only the parties directly involved know all of the truth. That said, there are recordings of the Teamspeak conversation that took place on this subject and people who have come forward since the big blowup to add details. Here are the basics of what we can unfurl. Apparently there was a mass hacking, or what was believed to be a mass hacking, in SWG Reborn but then later Aconite came onto staff Teamspeak (allegedly) and said it was a takeover. That he, seefo, levarris and singe (Vlock) were taking over. There are some recordings of the entire event you can find here if you want to have a listen: The recording starts off with Aconite…

Star Wars: Battelfront Patch 1.03 Notes

Star Wars: Battlefront has been patched, and it looks like DICE finally got the general bug fixed… To be honest, this has to be the worst patch notes ever! Was problem x fixed with your general stuff? – nahhh it was some other.. you know.. the thing.. with the bug.. stuff. I have no clue what have been fixed from below patch notes, but the Battlefront forum report Barrage grenades now taking longer to explode, giving targets more time to run clear. “Barrage takes SO MUCH LONGER TO BLOW UP IT’S 100 percent USELESS NOW,” screeched Battlefront forum member Yotsi. “Even spamming across map Barrage does nothing. They did more then nerf it they killed it.” Anyways.. Check out the patch notes below: General bug fixes for vehicles and physics improvements Game modes balancing tweaks HUD UI adjustments Audio optimizations General crash and stability fixes Online traffic performance improvements Various text fixes for…

EA: Expect More Star Wars: Battlefront Games

Here is to hoping that you really like Star Wars: Battlefront because Electronic Arts is not going to stop with it. EA CFO Blake Jorgensen, spoke during the UBS Global Technology Conference in San Francisco and stated the following about the 10 year licensing deal with Disney: “We struck a licensing deal with Disney a few years back that’s almost ten years in length. The game that comes out tomorrow, Star Wars Battlefront, is a traditional first-person style shooter game. Our goal is to make future Battlefront games as well as other style games around the Star Wars franchise, both on mobile as well as console and PC. It’s a huge opportunity for us.” Jorgensen also confirmed that the deal with Disney does not only cover the six Star Wars movies released currently, but it also includes that new film, The Force Awakens and the spin-off installments. This means that…

Yoda could have been the main character in the force unleashed 2

When The Force Unleashed 2 brought back the character that is Starkiller, most fans were confused, even more so when the story turned out to be quite short. This story was not always the plan and the original ideas for the game would have had new characters and a completely different story. When a writer for Cinelinx had a conversation with the former LucasArts creative director, Haden Blackman, they became enlightened. The ending to the first Force Unleashed game, we saw Starkiller kill himself on Death Star during the battle against Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine. His sacrifice allowed his friends to have a chance to escape and they went on to become the Rebellion as we know it today, until this was wiped out by the new canon. Once LucasArts let everyone know that Starkiller would be coming back for the sequel, many fans where very confused. The game…

Star Wars Battlefront Review List

Are you wondering what others are saying about Star Wars: Battlefront? Were you waiting on the release to see what others had to say before shelling out your own hard-earned cash on the game? You’re not alone. In fact, some fans are saying they are waiting until it’s been out for a bit to see if the price comes down, to see if there are any holiday sales to lower the price, and also to see what others are saying about the gameplay and longevity before they invest in it themselves. When looking to reviewers and critics to help you form your own opinions of a game you might be interested in playing, it’s important that you look at more than one review. Reviews are always biased (that is the point of a review) and there are many different factors that can play into a reason behind someone does or does not…

Star Wars: Battlefront – The Verdict

For months (or even for what seems like years) I’ve been keeping a close watch on the development of DICE’s newest Star Wars title through ups and downs, latching onto every crumb of rumor and soaking in every second of published game-footage with great thirst. The time has apparently come though to deliver a full and fair assessment of the game, a sort of objective review without regards to my status as a fan of the universe/canon. Star Wars: Battlefront is indeed here in all its glory and while some of its aspects are truly awe-inspiring, in some respects the mark is missed. I’ll admit that I was so taken in by its positives that I found it extremely difficult to pinpoint any of its faults, but having logged enough playing time, some of the problems do indeed poke through the thin fabric of perfectionist authenticity covering the game. This…

EA Rep May Have Influenced Reddit Mods To Censor Battlefront Critics

An ex-moderator for Reddit is stating that EA offered Star Wars: Battlefront alpha access and other items in exchange for them to delete any negative posts on Reddit. There are many Star Wars fans that are insanely excited for the release of Star Wars: Battlefront next week, but a major disturbance in the Force may have ruined the mood. A Reddit admin says that an EA representative bribed certain moderators to take down negative posts about Battlefront. Allegedly, moderators were given access to Battlefront’s closed alpha to suppress game criticism, while one other user was given tickets to the Star Wars festival and other perks. All of this information started coming to light a few days ago all because of a call for new moderators after a Reddit user agreement breach. “There was a representative from EA directing moderators to remove posts and prevent certain links from being posted,” Reddit…

Star Wars: Battlefront – Battle of Jakku Teaser Released

It has been known for a while that Star Wars: Battlefront, the much hyped and hotly anticipated game developed by DICE, set for a November 17, 2015 release, would be tied into the canon pushed forth by Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and that the game would be used to explain some of the storylines from the movie, filling in the canon-gaps specifically with the Battle of Jakku, a downloadable batch of content which will be made available some 3 weeks after the official release of the game. Star Wars: Battlefront was conceived and marketed as the game which would allow gamers to relive some of the most iconic battles of the Star Wars universe, from a novel and immersive perspective and considering that, the addition of the Battle of Jakku, a canon-episode unknown to everyone, is indeed a master-stroke which delivers more than what has been promised. The Battle…

Introducing the Alliance System in SWTOR

BioWaer Designer Matt Pucevich posted a detailed blog on the alliance system within Star Wars: The old Republic, Knights of the fallen Empire. Check it out: 10.20.2015 Introducing the Alliance System Be it the cheeky Astromech Droid, the stalwart Wookiee partner-in-crime, the ambitious upstart apprentice that is yours alone to mold, or any of the other 40-odd characters found in Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ to-date; we all know and love our Companions (especially the chronically under-appreciated ship droids!). Companion characters have always been a big part of our personal stories, and with the upcoming release of the new Digital Expansion, Knights of the Fallen Empire, comes an even deeper focus on characters and storytelling. For this reason it only makes sense that we would seek to include our beloved friends (especially the ship droids!!) in that experience. Knights of the Fallen Empire has given us an excellent opportunity to take stock of…

Star Wars Battlefront Season Pass

EA recently announced both the Ultimate Edition of Star Wars: Battlefront and also the DLC Season Pass. It sounds similar to what DICE has offered for past games. The season pass provides access to four expansion packs “coming at a later date.” EA didn’t give any other specifics of what’s in the packs or how often they will be released at this time. They did say they will be “filled with new content that will take you to new locations across a galaxy far, far away,” so it’s possible new maps are part of the packs. The Season Pass also comes with a “Shoot First” emote. We can speculate that we might also see new co-op stuff, new gear and possibly new game modes. That said, the Season Pass won’t come cheap. It’s already listed on the Xbox Store, PlayStation Store, and Origin at $50. If EA/DICE follow the same setup as the recent…

Star Wars Battlefront Feels Like a PS2 Game

This week the Star Wars Battlefront beta made it to the scene and players are experiencing and analyzing it, as well as offering their first impressions. If you’ve tried it already, we want to know what you think in the comments. So, Star Wars Battlefront is available on the PlayStation 4, the PC, and the XBox One. We also want to know what platform you’re playing it on. EA is expecting to sell 9-10 million copies of this game. Yes, that’s 9-10 MILLION! Crazy, huh? When it comes to first impressions, we think one write-up from Polygon staff is pretty interesting. They had the chance to play the beta on each of the three platforms and took time to write up some initial thoughts and opinions. It’s well worth the entire read because you’ll see why he says the things he says but the closing statement sums it all up…

Komatu: Two Very Impressive Hours With The Star Wars Battlefront Beta

Patricia Hernandez it’s not actually a huge Star Wars fan, however after spending a few hours playing Star Wars: Battlefront on the PS4 a while back, she stated that she was starting to feel what all the fuss is about. This post is her experience with the time she spent with the game. The visuals are amazing but it’s not just because they are pretty to look at. In her opinion, the best thing that strikes her about them is how well they show off the work, threadbare quality that the majority of the objects found in the movie are seen as well. The blaster gun isn’t all fancy, it’s rough and rugged. Futuristic but still somehow old, which is simply amazing. With these graphics and the combination of DICE’s amazing audio design, Battlefront completely transports you into their world. Star Wars fans will absolutely love the details and the…

HYPERSPACE BEACON: Six things to do before SWTOR’s Knights of the Fallen Empire launch

Once the long-awaited Knights of the Fallen Empire for Star Wars: The Old Republic launches, certain activities will not be available in the game anymore. To be specific, quests such as the Makeb staged weeklies and the Nightmare achievements for Eternity Vault will be gone. You also need to know that many of the basic story missions will not be available once you begin the KotFE missions, and the developers have stated that those missions will affect the story in KotFE, as well. There is only one more month left until the expansion is available to the public, so we need to prioritize which mission achievements you must have before you get the expansion. Here are six suggestions to get you started on the right path. Companion missions The first suggestion is to do as many companion missions that you possibly can. Many of them only require that you go…

Why Is There So Much Hate on Star Wars: Battlefront?

If you’ve been following the news and updates on Star Wars: Battlefront then you are surely no stranger to the fact that there is a lot of negativity surrounding this game. The community seems to be really torn on whether to love it or hate it. While there are some who straddle the fence in the gray zone, most everyone is in one camp or the other. What is it about this game that has so many people either super hyped or super let down? I have a lot of theories on this answer but of course, it’s all speculation. My guess is that with any big Star Wars game, the community is going to be anxious. We love Star Wars. We love games. We want great Star Wars games. And the truth is, we’ve been let down before. A lot. Some of us are bitter about that. Some of…

My Favorite Things About the Star Wars: Battlefront Beta

The Star Wars: Battlefront closed beta has become available a couple of days ago and it instantly vindicated all those who have put their trust into DICE to make this a game that would live up to the tremendous hype that preceded it. Indeed, as we followed the development of this game one bit of rumor/news at a time, it has become clear that no amount of effort would be spared to make this good and now all I can say is: it shows. The beta isn’t all milk and honey obviously, there are a number of smaller problems with it, but being positive a person, I’m not going to dwell on any of these minute and ultimately insignificant details, and I’m only going to focus on the bits that have left me thoroughly impressed. To start off: the graphics. In this day and age, raving about the visuals of…
