Massivelyop: swtors upcoming expansion builds on the legacy of KOTOR

Recently, Massivelyop.com sat down with BioWare at E3 to talk about the new Knights of the Fallen Empire expansion. They were also lucky enough to see some of it in action. So, what is Fallen Empire you might ask? It’s much more than just an expansion, it’s a return to BioWare’s amazing storytelling adventure in the Star Wars galaxy. The best part of all is that Knights of the Fallen Empire is only the very beginning. The new expansion is called a season because there are more seasons on the way. In Knights of the Fallen Empire, you will see that every choice and decision you make, matters. There have been many choices in SWTOR but they didn’t really have much of an effect. When your character makes a choice in Knights of the Fallen Empire, it has immediate consequences and long-term ones as well. One choice that they…

How Credit Sellers are Getting Smarter

A common problem in MMORPGs is credit/gold farmers and sellers. SWTOR is not alone in this scenario. As gamers, we know there will always be currency farmers and this market can have an impact on the credit market within the game and the servers as well. This has long been the nature of MMORPGs but some gamers have tried to find ways to minimize the damage done by it, such as microtransactions or World of Warcraft’s gold token system. Still, credit spammers will try to find ways to get those customers coming in and while it seems there will never be a shortage of people looking to buy, they are still always looking for ways to sucker in a new customer. They even resort to trying to trick people into visiting their links and buying their services. A new way that these sneaky credit sellers are finding to trick people…

11 Things you need to know about Star Wars: The old Republic’s Knights of the Fallen Empire expansion

BioWare gave a show at E3 this year after they unveiled another trailer for Star Wars: The Old Republic. The new expansion, Knights of the Fallen Empire, showed us a new pair of brothers, one that was dressed in black and the other one in white, and they lead a brand new faction in battles. After watching the trailer a few times, IGN got to sit down with BioWare and ask a few questions. Here are 11 new things you should know before you jump into BioWare’s Star Wars MMO. First of all, Knights of the Fallen Empire is only for subscribers. You will need to be a subscriber to have access to the new expansion. If you decide to sign up early you will gain access to the Knights of the Fallen Empire and in-game bonuses. You will not be able to have access to the expansion any other…

EA prepared to delay Star Wars Battlefront ‘if it wasn’t right’

EA announced that they were prepared to delay Star Wars: Battlefront past November if something was to go wrong during the games launch, said COO Peter Moore. After speaking to MCV, Mr. Moore said that “you can’t ship it if it doesn’t work or the quality isn’t right. You just bite the bullet. Trust me, shipping Hardline in March was not the easiest thing to do from a business perspective, but it was the right thing to do from a player perspective.” “We’d have no compunction, no hesitation that if something went wrong with Battlefront, if it wasn’t right, we would just push it.” “But that’s not going to happen,” he continued. “The game is playable with 40-players already, and it is rock solid, so it ain’t going to happen”. Mr. Moore’s comments come after 18 months when the publisher saw some major problem during the launch of Battlefield 4,…

STAR WARS: BATTLEFRONT – I SLAUGHTERED AS LUKE SKYWALKER

Zachary Ryan from IGN.com was one of the lucky people who got to play a demo of Star Wars: Battlefront at E3. We are going to recap his story and his experience with the upcoming game. First, Ryan says that he is terrible at Star Wars: Battlefront and it didn’t surprise him because he doesn’t do well with shooters. He stated that he died 15 times during the first few minutes of gameplay but he did keep pressing on. Once, he respawned in a tunnel away from the battle zone and he saw a power icon. He grabbed it and noticed in the bottom of his screen that Luke Skywalker was waiting for him to take over. As he became Luke Skywalker and walked confidently to the battlezone, he pulled out his lightsaber. The camera then zoomed out to a third person camera angle and he felt powerful and alive….

Star Wars: Battlefront is Not Like Battlefield

We’ve heard the comparisons before so I’m sure you have as well: Battlefront is going to be just like a Star Wars themed Battlefield. Right? Wrong. Actually, Star Wars: Battlefront is not going to vary from Battlefield in a variety of ways. Let’s take a look. First, shooting and vehicles are going to be different. These are some of the most important aspects of a Battlefield game so it’s very important to distinguish how Battlefront will be different. Customization options are also different in Battlefront. Presentation-wise, it’s definitely a Star Wars game and you won’t just feel like it’s a skinned Battlefield game. Hardcoregamer.com tells us more: To get this out of the way, Star Wars: Battlefront is not a Battlefield game. Battlefront does share some similar mechanics with the Battlefield franchise, but not enough to say this is Battlefield: Star Wars. If anything, Star Wars: Battlefront is extremely faithful…

Star Wars Battlefront Speeder Bikes Are Not On-rails

All Star Wars fans will be happy to know that the Speeder Bike in Star Wars: Battlefront will not be on-rails in the game. The community manager for EA, Mathew Everett, answered some question about the game on Reddit not long ago. One fan asked if the Speeder Bike on Endor will be only on-rails in Star Wars: Battlefront. Everett replied with a “no” meaning you are able to drive them yourself. In the original Star Wars: Battlefront games, Speeder Bikes were playable without any kind of assistance from the gaming mechanics. Because of this, it was extremely easy to crash out often and we are interested in seeing how DICE will balance out this in the new game. Everett has also confirmed that the Walker Assault mode in Star Wars: Battlefront will not be the only mode that has vehicles in them. However, we won’t know all the details…

‘Star Wars: Infinity’ to match tone of ‘Episode 7’

The news of Star Wars: Infinity was not much of a surprise to many people in the video gaming world. Disney has a long history of adding relevant new characters to their Infinity franchise and with the release of the new Star Wars film this year, this news didn’t come as a surprise. The journey to creating the new game meant that Disney Interactive had to work closely with Lucasfilm to create something that would please Star Wars fans. Both Lucasfilm and Disney have stated that the collaboration has went smoothly so far but having to find common ground is sometimes difficult. One challenge was the release of the trailer back on May 5th. “We didn’t know, on the Infinity team, what the tone of Episode Seven is, so when we went through and were doing [the trailer for the game], the tone was really off,” says John Blackburn, senior…

Star Wars the Old Republic: Knights of the Fallen Empire Reactions

As you know, fans of SWTOR are excited for Knights of the Fallen Empire, present company included. It’s definitely time for something new and exciting to the game and we think this expansion is going to bring a lot of that. In fact, we expect it to also bring in new players as well as old players who have quit and decide to return. Of course, that is one of the purposes of a video game expansion and it’s an important part of a good game marketing strategy but that doesn’t mean it’s always effective or executed correctly. This time, we think Bioware has really put the right talent, time and attention into this expansion. Carbonite time skip, new story, new gear, new options… there is a lot to immerse yourself in with this one and people who play Bioware RPGs are most often looking for that story. They want…

E3 2015 Game Of The Show Nomination: Star Wars: Battlefront

After the Star Wars Celebration and the announcement that Star Wars: Battlefront will have less maps and modes than in the previous series, there has been tons of criticism. However, the past history of the Star Wars franchise doesn’t really mesh well with what DICE is currently trying to do with Battlefront. The main concept for the game remains the same, fighting against many foot soldiers in the middle of the Star Wars universe. The rest of the game is quite different though and that’s the whole reason why it’s not being named Star Wars: Battlefront 3, they are completely starting over. Most people say that Star Wars: Battlefront is basically just a Battlefield game with a Star Wars theme, and they are correct. It’s not a bad thing at all and there are some differences in gameplay, but it’s still a DICE game all the way. When you compare…

Star Wars: Battlefront hands-on preview – DICE strike back

At E3, fans that were in attendance got to actually play a demo of the upcoming Star Wars: Battlefront. Until now, we have only seen snippets of footage from the game but now some lucky fans have actually been able to experience the game themselves. The following is two different reviews of Star Wars: Battlefront from Jason Serafino from Techtimes and the other is from Metro.uk.co. We have recapped their original reviews. Jason Serafino was lucky enough to be able to spend 20 minutes playing Star Wars: Battlefront at E3. Since this is a Battlefield game there is no story line and you are instantly put into the middle of the action. There is a downside to this because you aren’t sure of what you’re doing and he accidently set off his rocket pack which sent him 50 yards into the sky. Once he managed to figure everything out he…
