Nolan North: Visceral’s Star Wars Game to be Like Uncharted

At MetroCon 2015, Nolan North did a Q&A session. He talked about Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End mainly but he also game some clues on the current Star Wars game that Visceral is working on. The most interesting part of the interview is when he gave details about the type of Star Wars game that Visceral is working on. He explained what Amy Hennig is currently working on. Amy Hennig is not at Naughty Dog any longer and is working on writing the story for the new Star Wars game. She stated that the game she is currently working on will “reboot a brand new Star Wars franchise.” It will also be done in the same style of Uncharted. The choice of words that North used is quite interesting. Rebooting a new franchise could mean Visceral has decided to create a game close to Star Wars 1313. However, that game…

‘Star Wars: Infinity’ to match tone of ‘Episode 7’

The news of Star Wars: Infinity was not much of a surprise to many people in the video gaming world. Disney has a long history of adding relevant new characters to their Infinity franchise and with the release of the new Star Wars film this year, this news didn’t come as a surprise. The journey to creating the new game meant that Disney Interactive had to work closely with Lucasfilm to create something that would please Star Wars fans. Both Lucasfilm and Disney have stated that the collaboration has went smoothly so far but having to find common ground is sometimes difficult. One challenge was the release of the trailer back on May 5th. “We didn’t know, on the Infinity team, what the tone of Episode Seven is, so when we went through and were doing [the trailer for the game], the tone was really off,” says John Blackburn, senior…

The Clone Wars Mod – Empire At War Forces of Corruption

Here is an interesting game mod by Bryon Anderson and the video is a review by XPGamers. Here are a few words from the creator explaining more of what he did: “Thank You TheXPGamer for taking the time to review my game mod. A few notes for you. The Skirmish you played is the planet type coded for night vision Clones so the trooper models you saw with the red visors were night vision clones and that is also why the 501st did not have their blue marking. Also the Clone Sergeants and Clone Lieutenants have increased site range from normal clones making them important to be kept with regular clones so they will see and shot at enemy units further away. Not sure how I forgot to add that to their descriptions. :p” He says he and his team worked for 4 years on the mod and are still…

A New Star Wars Mobile Game Is Coming

Star Wars: Uprising is a mobile game that will be hitting phones sometime later this year, and it could provide some hints as to what’s going on with the Empire and the Rebellion after the destruction of the second Death Star. Check out the trailer: It looks like someone has arisen in wake of the Emperor’s death to take the reins of the Empire and try to regain some control over the worlds that may have thought about rebelling after the Battle of Endor. Could this provide some background for The Force Awakens? Or will these events have gone and been forgotten in the few years right after Episode VI? There’s really no way to tell. We don’t even have gameplay footage yet. It’s a nice-looking game, though, and there’s definitely potential for something cool. We’ll keep you posted on what we find out!

Revenge of Revan Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II Mod

Here’s something really cool that’s ready (in beta) for you to download now and check it out. RevengeofRevan.com Developer Blog asks, “Can a mod be created that won’t disrupt KOTOR canon and still allow players to continue their stories from KOTOR1 and KOTOR2? Ever since the MMO was announced along with the Revan book, this has been on my mind. The short answer is: yes, it can be done. But the next part is, how you can do this without putting yourself in a corner and hurting your creative freedom?”” Revenge of Revan (RoR) does exactlly that. It will allow fans to continue their story based on the choices they make in the last two games so they can continue while still fitting the KoTOR canon. Even with the non-strict canon choice the story for the mod will still fit nicely between KOTOR2 and SWTOR in the large grand scheme of…

Electronic Arts Cuts Staff At Visceral Games To Focus On New Star Wars Title

According to Game Informer, it has been confirmed , that EA has laied off  a smaller number of staff over at Visceral. “We made a small staffing change in our Visceral studio today to support the needs of the studio’s two current development priorities: content for Battlefield Hardline Premium and an unannounced Star Wars project,” an EA representative told us via email.  “We are working to ensure the smoothest transition possible for the impacted employees.” Electronic arts did mention anything about Amy Hennig and Todd Stashwick, who are leading the work on a still not official named Star Wars game, so we don’t know if they are affected by these changes. EA declined to share specific numbers impacted by the change. In April, Visceral’s Steve Papoutsis left EA after 14 years. Scott Probst currently leads Visceral’s efforts, including work on follow-up content for Battlefield Hardline and the upcoming Star Wars game.

If EA Created a New Star Wars Game

We love Star Wars games around here and most of you will know that there has been no shortage of ideas for them but very few that make it to completion and then stick around for any period of time for people to actually enjoy them. So here is a question to ponder: If EA was to create a new Star Wars game that isn’t part of an existing series (like Battlefront, Rogue Squadron, etc.) what would you want it to be about? If you could write the plot and script for a new Star Wars game, what would your game be about? Would you be looking for something with more of a Star Wars Galaxies feel to it or would you…
