How Powerful Was Revan Really?

Revan has long been one of my favorite characters from Star Wars. This powerful, complex character just has so much backstory, so much growth, and had such a huge impact in so many important aspects of Star Wars, I find it hard not to like him. But even if you’re not a fangirl like me, you probably still find it hard not to respect Revan when you learn all about him. It’s not just that he has an interesting story, or that he had the unique history of playing both sides – as a Jedi and as Sith – but also because he was so incredibly powerful. “Revan had many Masters, Zhar, Dorak, Master Kae before Kae left for the Wars. Toward the end of his training, he sought out many to learn techniques. It is said that he returned to his first Master at the end of his training,…

So did DICE listen to the fans for the sequel? Some say yes. Time will tell for sure. Early access was given to a handful of gaming reviewers and from that, we ask the question: Is the story any good? Gamerevolution seems to think it was. Star Wars Battlefront II Multiplayer Review

When it comes to Star Wars Battlefront 2’s multiplayer mode, the fans had a lot of feedback to deliver to DICE. It would seem the developer may have taken some of this into consideration when it comes to making With a lot of early previews out, we got to see what some game reviewers think of the game before it was available to everyone on November 17th. We already know there is a big controversy around loot boxes, and the amount of time or money it will take to unlock everything. But what about the gameplay itself? What about the multiplayer modes and features? What about the modes and maps? Is there still a playable, enjoyable game in there, despite the complaints? This reviewer from Twinfinite seems to think so. They say, “We recently got some extensive hands-on time with the multiplayer, and what we found was a robust offering with…

Star Wars Battlefront 2 Community Manager Apologizes for Angering Players

There has been a lot of drama in the Star Wars Battlefront 2 community in the past few days. Some of it was regarding a post that EA community manager Mat Everett made on Twitter that ticked a lot of people off. He says the tweet was “taken out of context” but many who had purchased the game believed he was insulting them over their complaints about the game. Like we said, drama! So, what actually went down? Star Wars: Battlefront 2 has been in the headlines a lot lately, and not for very good reasons, honestly. It was recently reported that it could take up to 40 hours to unlock even a single hero in the game without purchasing loot boxes, leaving players to feel like it’s a money sink. Some have criticized EA for what they are calling predatory microtransaction practices. In fact, the debate over this has become so…

Developers Blame EA for Star Wars Battlefront 2 Controversy

Speaking of the big Star Wars Battlefront 2 controversy of the past couple of days, more and more details are emerging and no one seems to want to admit blame for anything that’s happening. Players were enraged days before the official release (Nov 17th) because of the multiplayer monetization methods that are being called aggressive and predatory. First, it had loot boxes, which people weren’t keen on. Then, they tried to modify the loot box system to calm the angered fans, but they may have even made things worse. As review copies made their rounds, details came out about the game that includes Star Wars Battlefront 2’s wildly expensive hero/villain unlocks, requiring countless hours of play in order to amass enough credits to purchase just one character. The restrictions that were uncovered, combined with EAs poor solution to the backlash just made it worse. So, before the game even officially…

CaptainShack from TheXPGamers has a video from mid-2016 that you might have missed if you’re not a regular follower. As a forewarning, it does have strong language, like most of his videos, but you might find the topic of discussion interesting. What IS a proper sandbox MMO in the first place? How do you define it? CaptainShack is going to tell us how he defines it and then why he thinks many Star Wars games up to this point are not hitting the mark. So how does Star Wars measure up with Eve Online when it comes to the topic of sandbox MMO play? I have played MMOs since Ultima Online (mentioned in the video) and I played WoW from beta and did enjoy it. I understand the reasoning behind other MMORPGs basing their games on WoW. I mean, why fix what isn’t broken? That said, there has been a great need…

Star Wars vs Eve Online

How does Star Wars stack up against Eve Online? Here is a three-part video series that compares the two. It’s actually interesting and can be a lot of fun to think of the different scenarios that could exist, the different ships and how they fare against one another. The first video runs a bit long (about 16 minutes) but it’s worth it and the 2nd and 3rd parts are shorter so go ahead and check it out for yourself. Basically, they set up a story-based scenario where a Star Wars ship is paired with a ship from EVE Online  to see which would win and how they would match up. I find this really interesting and fun because I’ve always loved Star Wars and when I first saw EVE Online, I compared it personally to Star Wars. I couldn’t wait to try out the game myself, fly the ships, and…

Everyone is excited for Star Wars: Episode 8 and like all of these Star Wars films, things are pretty well under wraps, making it hard for anyone to know what’s happening or what might happen. Disney and Lucasfilm like to keep these really under lock and key. That said, sometimes the rumors turn out to be true and sometimes leaks make it out of production. Fans are Remastering Star Wars Republic Commando

Speaking of Star Wars games that might see a comeback… who remembers Republic Commando? The game, released in 2005, is a classic to most Star Wars fans. It followed the story of a squad of Clone commandos that fight during the Clone Wars. You saw them go through several conflicts and it was a gritty, meaty change to many other Star Wars games of the time. Sadly, we haven’t seen anything else of Republic Commando since those early days 12 years ago. No updates. No re-releases. No remastering… until now. Some fans have made it their mission to revive the game and we’re definitely going to be following this one to see where it goes. The folks at Blackout Studios have begun crafting assets for Republic Commando in Unreal Engine 4. Days Past – A Star Wars Fan Film

Well, here’s one you can put on your list because I definitely have it at the top of mine. This is really a great film in and of its own right, but as a Star Wars fan, you’re going to love it. It’s very well done and for a short film (this one is under 20 minutes), it’s all the more important that you get it all right. There’s less time and more attention to detail that will be given by the viewer so it’s all the more important to get all the details straight. The acting is fantastic – seriously! I can’t say enough about how great the acting is. The plot and the story are like something right out of a book, and it will…
